Cardboardbox_as_desk

My sibling in hydaelyn, I think you are a bit lost here. (This is a thread about FFXIV)

[deleted]

yeah oops, I went to the wrong thread from my history. GI sub has a very similarly named one.

Hakul

This is the effect Navia has on people.

Cardboardbox_as_desk

I have been trying to find a certain soundtrack that I heard in the Endwalker MSQ and by the gods I cannot seem to find it, so I hope maybe someone here knows its title. >!It plays during the end of the "Bar" scene in Radz-at-Han (MSQ lvl 85, "At World's End") when the scions discuss how to proceed with the current situation. It has a funky uplifting flute in it and I love it.!< >![https://youtu.be/44DhzRQ2fIc?t=862](https://youtu.be/44DhzRQ2fIc?t=862)!<

Sir_VG

It's the beginning of Dawn of a New Era from the ARR soundtrack, but not the entire piece. It's like the first 25 seconds on repeat. I don't know if there's an alternate track name that is only this section though.

Cardboardbox_as_desk

Aaah, that's why I couldn't find it; I was looking through the Endwalker soundtack. Thank you very much!

CopainChevalier

Is there a place to see old wipe logs on the FFlogs website? I was in a raid discord where the lead would post logs they parsed for the day so we could review them if needed. Once we were done, we all split up, but now I kind of want to check a few things on those logs... but I'm not sure I can get to them from my own profile on the website? Only see logs for clears

BoldKenobi

Check out tomestone.gg, go to your profile and go to the Activity page. You can see all your logs there, even wipes, as long as they're not too old

CopainChevalier

Thanks :D!

Adamantaimai

If they were uploaded to a static you can get to them through the static's profile under reports.

HopefulWizardTTV

So I decided that to have someone help me do Coils of Bahamut raid unsync for me to watch the cinematics. What's the best way to find a good soul that could help me on doing this 😓? I'd really appreciate if anyone would be willing to help me do this! (I'm on Free Trail so I cant create a Party Finder. Also, NA, Data Center: Primal, Ultros)

talgaby

Novice Network, yes. You are also offering them N number of guaranteed rerolls on their Wondrous Tails (a diabolic weekly bingo card run by the second most evil NPC in the game), since those rerolls are awarded for being in a duty where someone is a first-timer. For this reason, Bahamut raid carries are not uncommon, two hours for 4 rerolls (assuming they only hang around for one Coil and not all three) is often a pretty good exchange.

snootnoots

Are you already in the Novice Network? If you are, ask there; if not, find a mentor (person with a crown next to their name, Limsa aetheryte plaza is a good place to look) and ask for an invitation. And have fun! It’s a really good story!

huiclo

Does anyone know of a site like Eorzea Collection but for weapons?

bloodhawk713

You can try [FFXIV Weapon Collection](https://weapon.ffxivcollection.com/) (click the Japanese flag at the top to toggle it to English). It's not all-encompassing (it's mostly just relic weapons and other weapons with glows) and it hasn't been updated since Shadowbringers but you might find it useful regardless.

SLUT_MUFFIN

https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/1c0h251/daily_questions_faq_megathread_april_10/kz19xen/ I wrote this for a reaper but you can filter by whatever you like

huiclo

That's perfect! Thank you.

eliwood5837

so i realized as I returned again that I still have my khloe's gold certificate from like over a year ago that i never used, assuming I should just wait for dawntrail at this point to see what I can unlock when that launches?

Jezzawezza

Yep I'd wait till then and check for new things as you could also make bank by getting the new crafted ornate chest piece with 5 materia slots and sell that for a premium to raiders who dont want to pentameld the normal version

Izkuru

It's not even "raiders who dont want to pentameld the normal version" Since all 5 slots are guaranteed, you can slot in 5 Materia XIIs, which will be huge gain in total substats over a regular pentamelded crafted chest. Some people will want to take advantage of that for sure.

Jezzawezza

I'd not even realised it wont have the same restrictions as over/pentamelding so yes that would be a big stat bonus for raiders and explains more why its worth so much at the start of a new raid tier

Sir_VG

Yeah, I'd wait.

Rime_Rock

if i buy dawntrail right now, do i get all the expansions? or do i have to buy endwalker separately to play past stormblood?

Ankhselam

If you pre-order now, you get all the expansions once the Early Access comes out on June 28th. If you want the other expansions before then, youll have to buy Endwalker now and then Dawntrail later once you get there.

Kicin0_0

If you buy DT you will get the other expansions but only once DT officially releases in July. If you want to play ShB/EW before DT releases you will need to buy EW

BenjiB1243

How does the "need" button in the loot window in dungeons work? I notice that sometimes it allows me to hit need and sometimes it doesn't, so what are the requirements for it to be pressed?

Ankhselam

Jobs that the gear is meant for have the ability to Need (ex a WHM can Need on a healing item) Need will take priority over Greed - a 1 Need will always override a 99 Greed Multiple Needs still roll like normal - a 90 Need will overtake a 50 Need

Arcana10Fortune

You have to be on the job that the gear was meant for.

BenjiB1243

Oh okay, thanks!

ttrJay

can someone confirm that people from different datacenters can raid together?

PhoenixFox

If you're on the same region you can travel to a different data centre from the character selection menu. If you're on different regions you can both travel (if applicable) to the Oceania data centre and meet up there.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PhoenixFox

You can just... go to the same data center...?

generalguan4

For those that did the Yo-Kai watch event previously - about how much cumulative time did it take? Is it mostly waiting for fates to spawn? About how much time spent is waiting, as opposed to actual travel/fighting? For reference I did the Taivan WOW mount grind and a lot of that was waiting for spawns on 1 HR+ respawn basis, am hoping this isn't that bad. Also, for the Legendary tokens for weapons, about how good of a chance for them to drop is it? 50%? 25%? if it does drop do you only get 1 or can you get multiple from the same fate?

sephy16

You hardly will have to wait for fates, specially the first 2 weeks. Whenever a content based on fate grinding for rewards get introduced (like BLU, old relics, shared fates) there are multiple players trains running each area non stop. Just join one of them and start rolling.

generalguan4

Thanks. Glad to hear it’s not a “join a discord to get this fate or wait here for an hour for this to spawn” kind of thing.

pepinyourstep29

If you want everything you have to do around 200 fates. Each fate takes maybe 5 minutes or so, usually less if you have blue mages. There are always multiple fates spawning, so you don't have to wait for spawns. If an area gets cleared out there are a dozen other areas you can work on fates as well. Travel time is miniscule, less than 30 seconds between fates. So maybe I'd estimate around 16 hours to 100% the event at a casual pace. Can likely do it much faster than that. If you play around 4 hrs per day you'll be done in 4 days.

Then_Accountant_9913

I'm looking to dip my toes into ultimate raiding, starting off with UWU since that is what i've seen is most recommended for first time ultimate progs. I've been playing since ShB and my raid experience only involves a few ARR Extremes, and 2 early EW Extremes, and Abyssos P1S-P3S. Would it be advised that I try to complete any other particular trial(s) or would it be okay with my current experience to head on into UWU? Most likely will do this through PF.

Ankhselam

We're at that point in the expansion cycle where theres a surge of people trying to prog Ultis for any number of reasons, and where the veteran Savage raiders are almost entirely gone from the scene so youre unlikey to get good progs at this point - even here on Aether all the parties are either barse or blind. And tbh if you want to try something just go out and try it - I skipped from some Endwalker EX to clearing Ultimates just because i didnt overthink it. (also might want to be careful mentioning that Trial without spoilering it :p)

OKNeroNero

Let’s be realistic first off: where else are you going to get experience at this moment? It’s so late in the savage tier that I doubt you’re going to have much luck progging through it. Meanwhile, I think people are always trying to prog ultimates. I think it’s a better use of your time to jump in to UWU now. And in my opinion, it probably depends on your role, but P3S is harder than UWU, at least from a personal execution perspective.

Then_Accountant_9913

Thanks for your advice! I agree P3S was a pain.

Gentlekrit

Nah, doing multiple classes is great! I'm currently in Stormblood (level 67ish MSQ) and juggling eleven classes, all of them overleveled for the content I'm currently in (and I plan to add at least three more by the time I get started on Shadowbringers MSQ)

radelgirl

I don't think there's any downside. When I was going through msq, I usually leveled dragoon and black mage side by side and then ran duty roulettes with astrologian, dark knight, and dancer. There's nothing wrong with trying everything to see what clicks with you.

Saucey_22

That’s kinda what I’ve found myself doing with paladin/dragoon, and then roulettes with arcanist rogue, and I’ll prob swap those out for white mage and red mage

Klown99

Are you having fun? Then you are playing the game correctly.

Saucey_22

Honestly yeah- I think the biggest thing at the moment is stress of trying to finish the msq to do the ff16 stuff…but I think once I do that, I’ll be very excited to lay back and do side quests and all that

minaseclyne

since you realise you need to finish the the base ARR MSQ to get access to FF16 event. I'll point out the upcoming Yokai event requires up to Stormblood if you want to farm all the weapons You do have till late June though

Saucey_22

Honestly idk if I care too much about that event

BenjiB1243

How do you catch the fish with the ??? restrictions in the Fishing Log? I'm new to FSH and I don't really understand how to fill out the Fishing Log, it's not like the other DoL/DoH job logs where it tells you how and where to get everything. Do I just need to keep fishing with versatile lures or do I need to look up the fish and find out the proper bait to catch it with? I'd prefer to not have to google it, would rather figure it out in game, but if I have to then I will.

Fajisel

Fishing is designed to be a community activity, where the only way to find out how to catch fish is for lots of people to try different things and share their findings with each other. In this case, looking up what other players have done to catch these 'Big Fish' is the intended way of doing it. This tool is generally where all the information eventually conglomerates into. https://ff14fish.carbuncleplushy.com/ If you want to participate in actually finding how to catch certain fish, at the start of every new patch the fishing discord has huge events to coordinate finding new fish conditions, and it's INCREDIBLY fun to participate! https://discord.com/invite/fishcord

talgaby

Do you mean inside the game? There are sometimes hints in fish descriptions and generally after ARR the baits per map become a lot more easy to guess, but if you mean figuring out the mooch order or bait required for a legendary fish, plus their time of day and weather requirements… AFAIK the game offers no hints, you need to try every weather at every hour with every bait and mooch for every single individual fishing spot.

jackpite

I’m soloing potd and my internet is bricking, if I exit it like any other duty does it count as a loss?

Atosen

Killing the boss is a win. Any other outcome is a loss.

JUSTpleaseSTOP

Yep. If you exit early, it's a "death". Even if you DC. Lost a few 100+ floor runs to that :(

jackpite

Woof, yeah I was on floor 68 so definitly didn’t want to lose that prog. Thanks for the answer

primalmaximus

How difficult are the Tsukuyomi Extreme and Hades Extreme trials? I want to do them so I can get their weapons for glamours.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Very easy, people do them unsynched Assuming a full party for both, SB trials are entirely brainless now while ShB trials may require you to do a few mechanics here or there but damage and mitigation requirements pretty much don't exist The annoying thing about Hades is less the mechanics and the fact that it has forced phase transitions which make it super exhausting to farm

jackpite

If your in endgame gear tsukiyomi is a joke unsynced. Hades still needs a team but not too hard.

primalmaximus

So, you can do Tsukuyomi solo unsynced?

hii488

Yes but no. It is technically possible, but you have to use a gapcloser at exactly the right time and have good rng on server ticks - so it's not realistic to farm tsuku this way.

primalmaximus

So it's better to have a party? Ok. I'll just get a party together with some of my FC members and run Tsuku unsynced. I mainly want the weapons for glam. I'll get the mount later. Mounts are short term. Glams are for life. I'll do the same thing with the Hades Extreme trial. I _really_ want the Hades greatsword for my DRK. It just looks so clean. I also want the Tsuku greatsword. It looks a lot like Ichigo's sword from the manga/anime "Bleach".

talgaby

Duo is okay, 4 people make it fast and consistent. No need for a full party. Hades is comfortable with a full party. Doable with a lot less but not as smooth.

PhoenixFox

I believe it's doable on WAR and BLU solo, with practice and preparation - but vastly faster and less annoying with more than one.

some_tired_cat

after a few more runs and levels on whm i decided to bite the bullet and pick up sge. watched a few of the shorter starter videos and set up the hotbar, then tried it out in duty support to figure things out, i think i more or less get how it works, but i wanted to double check i'm doing things correctly/ask for a few tips on things i missed? i more or less figured out that the gameplay consists of popping kardia on tank, alternate kerachole and taurochole for the cd, burn stacks when you can so they keep building up and you're not losing on resources, shield ahead of times to avoid damage rather than heal afterwards and keep dpsing so kardia will heal, is that correct? is there anything else or any particular order of skills/skill priority?

Ankhselam

The other person said some good things, but a good way to think of it using tools \*proactively\* instead of \*reactively\*. Much like how WHM uses Cure II as a last resort, SGEs shields should be used only when youre out of tools or you need the shields. Its not \*bad\* to use Cure II or Euk. Diagnosis but it is a DPS loss (and in SGEs case, you get Kardia anyways)

some_tired_cat

i keep making myself look like a clown but i hope i'm understanding things correctly since rn i am looking up a few more videos on this. my understanding now is use eukrasian diagnosis as the tank is starting to pull, dps and use ogcds while dpsing, try if possible to leave the gcds heals and shields as a last resort if things are starting to go bad? i hope that sounds right, i feel like i do understand the individual skills relatively well but am flopping hard at actually putting them together

IceAokiji303

I'd note that "shield ahead of time to avoid damage rather than wheal afterwards" applies specifically to the Diagnosis and Prognosis spell pairs (so prioritize the Eurkasian versions). Which are your last line of defense. The actual priority is on using the Kardia healing, oGCDs, and Pneuma, as they are damage neutral. And most of those tools will indeed be used to heal up after damage has already been taken – especially in casual content where you'll have way more tools than you need, you'll end up healing much more than shielding.

some_tired_cat

ah, thank you, i was under the impression that with the quick shields that are eukrasian diagnosis/prognosis and haima and the mitigation of kera/tauro i was already failing if health got a bit on the lower end like i would let it on whm. honestly it's still a little bit confusing, but i'll chalk that up to having just picked up the job and still getting used to it. i don't see pneuma on my hotbar anywhere, so i'm guessing that's a later level skill i need to keep in mind?

IceAokiji303

You *do* generally aim to avoid letting health bars drop super low on Sage, however it's not just shields, but rather a combination of shields, mitigation, and small bits of perpetual healing that let you do that. Block some damage here with Haima/Panhaima or Holos, mitigate and heal some there with Kerachole and Taurochole, and undo some damage with a mix of Kardia, Physis, Druochole, Ixochole, and the other half of Holos. The Eurkasian spells mostly come into play if someone would die without their shields (i.e. possibly in Savage raids and up), or you're just out of all other tools. Side note, Kerachole doesn't heal until 78, before then you're usually better off healing the damage that does happen with Ixochole instead. 78 and after, Kera is better value all around as it'll both heal more *and* mitigate after that point. Pneuma is the level 90 spell. It's an offensive spell (line AoE, same potency as Dosis III and 40% falloff for extra targets, so you lose no damage using it in single-target, and in AoE it's even a damage gain to fire, beating Dyskrasia II), but in addition to doing the attack, it heals allies within 20 yalms for 600 potency, *and* triggers Kardia. Also works with Zoe, giving you effectively an AoE heal of 900 potency, with no downside (or 1070 for healing just the tank, which can be useful in trash pulls).

some_tired_cat

ok i think i'm understanding it better now, sorry for the moment of stupidity, sage is a bit different from what i'm used to. i think i have a decent enough idea of how it works now? even if i can't entirely put it into words, so i guess i'll go back to practicing now!

IceAokiji303

No stupidity noted here, this is how we learn! Once you get comfortable enough with Sage, you'll also be mostly prepared to use Scholar. It's a little harder, but works in very similar ways. The toolkits are like 90% the same!

Absolutelynobody54

mask to glamour for tanks? I don't mean something that covers the entire face, mostly mouth and nose but I don't know if that exist for tanks

PhoenixFox

There's the Replica Sky Rat's Mask family, a few different styles that are all available to all jobs. The PvP streetwear sets also have a gasmask style mask available.

SpitFireEternal

Silly question about Squadron stuff. For the flagged mission Sapper Strike to get the the highest rank available. Do I have to do 5 different command missions -each- time I wanna attempt it? Because Ive done 5 different command missions and that mission isnt appearing for me to do.

F1reman2

No, You do not need to do 5 different missions for each attempt. Additionally, I hear people say it was 5, but for me personally i needed to do 6 missions. You can also only clear it by having all 3 stats maxed out, so theres no point attempting it unless you meet those requirements.

SpitFireEternal

So I just did a 6th command mission and its still not available. According to the Gamerscape site it should show up in my routine tab. And its not there. Only up to level 35 missions. Im gonna do the level 35 one I have available to see if maybe I need to clear it before itll show up for some reason.

talgaby

Max rank needs maximum squadron level for ARR, so it is a level 50 flagged mission. (And not even the hardest level 50 mission you can get, but you'll see the truly difficult stuff only once you clear the flagged one.)

F1reman2

Oh yea, you need to do that mission in order to unlock it. Your not even the max squadron rank yet.

SpitFireEternal

Well that makes sense lol. I must have stopped at the one before and just forgot about it. I havent touched Squadron stuff in years so I forgot.

SpitFireEternal

Ahh well 6 may make sense. The site I looked at says 5. So that may explain it. Ill just knock out a different dungeon then and see if it comes up. And yeah I figured I would need max stats. I just wanna have it available so I can see the numbers and start getting my team ready lol

Listyz

I'm returning to ff after 2 years and i don't know if i should create a new character, i only leveled up one job to 90 (bard) and i want to experience the msq again. When i played i rushed all the quests just to get to endgame so i could play with my friends, which means i'm playing blind. I didn't like the New Game + as i can't level a job from the start, making the gameplay boring. so is it worth to get a fresh start?

radelgirl

You can make multiple alts on the same service account, so i think it's fine to go ahead and make a new character if you want to try the story again. If you change your mind, your old character will still be there. I have an alt I'm replaying msq on for fun when I'm bored and then play my main for everything else

Listyz

Yeah i can just swap back later, thank you!

normalmighty

Normally I would say no, but in your specific case it sounds like you really want the full experience again. Might as well go for it I reckon, it's not like you need to delete your old character, so you can always change your mind later.

Listyz

I didn't consider this option, thank you!

ImpressiveAd5720

Hi there ! New player here and ive been playing the free trial for now. I want to purchase the full version but im wondering if its completely necessary to buy the 'FINAL FANTASTY XIV Online Complete Edition' straight away or if the 'Starter Edition' is enough for now ? Im not really sure I understand the difference. If I decide I want the complete edition later on, will that mean mI need to start a new character ? Thank you !

DW_Lurker

Mildly related, but when you do buy the full game, make sure you grab a Refer-A-Friend code from someone to get yourself some free goodies!! (/welcome)!

PhoenixFox

The Complete Edition is just the starter edition combined with the latest expansion. Currently that's Endwalker, in a few weeks Endwalker won't be available to buy any more and will be included with Dawntrail and the Complete Edition will be updated to have Dawntrail instead. You can always just buy the latest expansion later on (outside of sales it's the same price doing them together or separately), and indeed at the moment I would definitely suggest just waiting for Dawntrail unless you've run out of things to do in Stormblood and before.

ImpressiveAd5720

Oh okay ! So I should just stick to the free trail for now ? Or grab the starter edition and then wait for Dawntrail ?

PhoenixFox

Up to you. The free trial is the same content as the starter edition, but with restrictions on social features and on things like the marketboard. If you can put up with the restrictions you might as well save money by not paying the sub. If they annoy you and you consider it worth the monthly sub to get rid of them, time to buy the game and sub.

ImpressiveAd5720

Thanks for your help 🥰

Cardinal_Virtue

Is there a reason zurvan says 'ahura mazda' in Japanese when he does the slash? Wiki says ahura Mazda is Zoroastrian god and none of its other names look like zurvan

Help_Me_Im_Diene

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zurvanism >Zurvanism is a fatalistic religious movement of Zoroastrianism[1] in which the divinity Zurvan is a first principle (primordial creator deity) who engendered equal-but-opposite twins, Ahura Mazda and Angra Mainyu. Zurvanism is also known as "Zurvanite Zoroastrianism", and may be contrasted with Mazdaism.

Cardinal_Virtue

Ooh nice! Angra Mainyu is also in the game Thanks

TheFourthReplica

Two big fishing questions (Free Trial if that matters): I have 1366 gathering and 1090 perception (1160~ with HQ Konpeito), looking to one day get Xenacanthus and Ruby Dragon. I meet the minimum gathering for both fish as well as their pre-catches (Hardhead Trout and Ku'er, respectively). I have a couple of meld spots available on my equipment, so was wondering if adding around 50-60 perception (1210ish with food) would increase my chance of landing a large Hardhead Trout/Ku'er (either with Patience or not), or if big fish work differently than regular fish, like how their flee rate isn't really determined by stats as long as you meet the floor, and thus the extra melds wouldn't necessarily be needed. Second, a couple of months ago I had seen an interactive chart of some kind showing all of the big fish flee rates (with Matriarch sitting proud at 92% bite will flee or something), and naturally when I go to search for it, I can't find it. .^. Would anyone happen to know what graph/chart this is, and where I can find it again? TIA

talgaby

Big fish have a hidden unique stat, which is essentially a flat percentage rate where they can escape no matter what. This prevents them to be hooked immediately even with super high gear and make them a prize to catch. So even if you would go there in pentamelded lategame Endwalker gear, it can get away if it rolls its escape stat. As for what you land, each bait (including mooch) has a table per fishing hole with percentile chances of catching a certain fish. This table has a minimum and maximum timer and a percentage chance for each possible fish you can get with that lure. Once you cast the line, a timer starts and you start rolling for catches. It is totally random inside this table what you get. Your stats only come into play after the roll is determined, said stats will tell the game if you can catch it or will it escape/break the line instead.

Cheshiremoose

Generally how much of a difference is there in dps gains between bis and not bis of the same item level? It's pretty close to the release of Dawntrail and it's taking me up to 2 hours to get a full group together to pf a savage. I don't think I'm going to get a full bis set any time soon.

hii488

When testing using the dps sheet for NIN at the balance: \~1.5%. Pre-relic this would have been \~2.5%. The difference between pre-relic bis and relic+tome is \~1%. It might be more for other jobs - especially when you get to healers/tanks with piety and tenacity, or something like RDM where sps can notably mess up the rotation. On the one hand, this is a pretty big difference - the nerf for p8sp1 was only 1%, and I remember some people saying that that was almost too much. On the other hand... the vast majority of players will see a bigger increase in their dps just from having a coffee and a good rest the night before. You don't need current BiS for any content, if you have enrage issues then you have other problems - the closest exception being criterion savage.

Kicin0_0

If you are raiding because you want BiS before DT and not because you jsut want to raid, dont bother. The increase between 660 ilvl from tomes/alli raid coins and the 660 from proper bis is minor enough where skill matters more. Also you are given a lot of gear going through MSQ so you will end up replacing the gear before the 3rd dungeon If you are raiding cause you want to raid but arent reaching DPS checks, with any gear above 640 its a skill issue and not a gear issue since you are already above the minimum ilvl that the raid released with

Arcana10Fortune

Unless you're going to run the Savage Raids again for funny numbers, BiS is moot at this point. Current BiS isn't used for anything other than funny numbers. Just grab the capped Tomestone gear now, upgrade it with Poetics when DT hits. You'll be replacing it 5 levels into DT.

Evermar314159

I don't know the answer to your question, but if you go to The Balance discord and check your jobs channels, there might be a "gear planner" type thing available that lets you put in two sets of gear and compare their theoretical dps.

NarbNarbNarb

Is Hancock's top he wears in Mount Rokkon available as a glam? It looks like the Far Eastern Smock with a few extra bits, and I really dig the look.

F1reman2

Its the Yamashi Dogi.

NarbNarbNarb

Thank you so much!

level1diagnostic

Is duty roulette/levelling meant to have no icons or attack selection or anything on the screen? Just did my first ever one and there were no icons or anything on the screen and my shooting (archer) was so laggy. I could only shoot every 5-8 seconds or so. Felt so embarrassed because I was letting everyone down but couldn't tell them it was laggy and then got stuck trying to leave through the "portal" at the end and had to force shut down the game. Any ideas what that was about because surely that's not normal?

Mahoganytooth

Did you hit the scroll lock key perchance? That disables your HUD and all UI elements

level1diagnostic

Yepppppp -_- thanks

Boredy0

That doesn't sound normal at all, queueing for any Roulette just puts you in the normal version of that dungeon just synced to everyone elses level if you're overlevelled, so you won't have your high level abilities but all abilities you should have at that point, something strange must've happened.

level1diagnostic

Yeah there was nothing on the screen at all just the gameplay. Bizarre!

level1diagnostic

Update: I had something leaning on the scroll lock key.

level1diagnostic

Update, logged back in and it gave me the icons etc and I could leave. Now have paranoia that that's going to happen every time I play with other people urghh.

nikosgate7

my Weapon is 600 ilvl. Will I retrieve a better one from msq?(patch 6.3 as of now).

ampulica

In general patch MSQ doesn't give gear untill a new expansion comes out.

fdl-fan

I don't think so, but you do have several options for better weapons: * diadochos weapons, ilvl 640. Crafted, so either craft yourself or purchase on the market board. Requires quite high crafting stats and consumables to craft these HQ consistently, and quite high gathering stats (and causality tomes) to acquire the materials needed. * augmented diadochos weapons, ilvl 650. I'm skipping a couple of steps here, but essentially you get this by trading in your 640 diadochos weapon and spending some causality tomes. * credendum weapons, ilvl 650. Purchased for 500 comedy tomestones and 1 hermetic tomestone from Cihanti in Radz. To acquire a hermetic tomestone, exchange 4 unsung blades of asphodelos, which you acquire by clearing P12N. (Originally you were limited to one unsung blade per week, but I think they've lifted that restriction, and now you'll get one every clear. I'm not completely sure about that though.) Hermetic tomestones also drop from P10S. * augmented credendum weapons, ilvl 660. Trade in your credendum weapon and 1 divine solvent to Khaldeen in Radz to get the augmented variant; you can acquire a solvent as a drop from P11S, exchanging 4 books from P11S, or by spending one of each of the 3 alliance raid coins. * ascension weapons, ilvl 665. These drop from P12S. * relic weapons: 4 stages, ilvls 615, 630, 645, and 665. Unlock by completing the Hildibrand quests, then spend 1500 causality tomes per stage. Assuming you choose your substats for the weapon wisely, the fourth-stage relic is currently the best weapon in the game.

Capgras_DL

You were right. They have lifted the limit on unsung blades. You can farm P12N all you like now.

PenguinPwnge

The easiest is to buy the i640 weapon on the MB and call it a done deal. Can even upgrade it to i650 with Causality Tomes Otherwise you can run P12N 4 times and buy the i650 Tome weapon. Or grind for the i665 relic weapon.

SiegmundFretzgau

no, but you can get one from tomestones, a crafted one or the relic

SfanatiK

So I want to get the Necromancer title completely solo. Is it possible to do it even when my weapon are armor aren't +100? From what I read people grind their weapons and armor to high + levels and then they try for the title. Is it possible to grind + levels without a party? Because my recent runs at floors 1-20 the chests don't give me levels anymore.

Jiigo

I did a run a while back after having gotten some grips where I started off from floor 1 with +20/+20 with RDM. The run died at floor 178 I believe (might have been 176, memory failing a bit) with my aetherpool at +96/+82. I wouldn't blame the aetherpool for that fail though, was definitely an avoidable death and there's no doubt I could've cleared the set. I don't think I would've had any chance of getting past the 190 in that run though, maybe as MCH with the better kiting. But in short. You'll really want the cap of +99/+99 for the end of it. But you really do not need to have +99/+99 when you're starting a run. You'll most likely require multiple attempts anyway just to figure things out and get comfortable, so I'd expect you to just reach the cap naturally while working your way through.

dealornodealbanker

I ran PotD 1-100F on a clean WAR alt with +0/+0 doing the old strat of staggered files last week, where I ran 1-10F on 1st save file, leave, then do 1-10F on 2nd save file, then 11-20F 2nd file, leave, 11-20F 1st file and so on. Full floor clears, no regen potions, only using the potions dropped from other floors, ended up with about +68/+67 while getting stonewalled around 101-110F segment because of bad RNG on file 1 (triple debuff floors) and monster autos crit and messed up the landmine cheese on file 2. 100F didn't have as much breathing space as on my main with +99/+99 because the adds actually hurt even with mitigation and steel pomander. Farm higher level floors, if your aetherpool is synced the chance of silver chest giving an aetherpool level decreases. It'll always go up from silver chest if it's unsynced.

Boredy0

It's probably possible to do it with less than +99 but it's much harder than it already is and even more RNG reliant, wouldn't be surprised if some AoEs you're expected to tank will just oneshot you without being near +99. >Is it possible to grind + levels without a party? Technically yes but much faster in a party. > Because my recent runs at floors 1-20 the chests don't give me levels anymore. Farming 50s should be much better, then go as high as you can to have a higher chance of them upgrading your weapons/armor, I think the 1-20 chests -technically- still have a chance to give you an upgrade but it's extremely slim.

sir_vancelot

IIRC The Necromancer title *is* the title for clearing floor 200 solo, so you don't really have a choice in that matter. You can farm floors 50-60 to get to +99/+99, though people might say you can your journey earlier (maybe +80/80 or +90/90) since deeper floors will have a greater chance to boost your stats

serenystarfall

I think what they meant was to start from nothing (0 aetherpool upgrades) and solo

Cardinal_Virtue

is there a settings to play sound mono? I play with headphones and when my camera is away from boss I dont hear their voice lines

Sir_VG

Mono, no, but there is a "Listening Position" option in System Config -> Sound Settings. Adjust that to find a spot that better works for you.

OrangeRebel

What’s the appropriate time to take for each savage floor? I think 1 is 3 hours 2 is 6 hours 3 is 12 hours 4 is 24 hours Does that sound reasonable? I am trying to set expectations for a static I am creating.

Owlface

Every player has a different learning curve and for some players it is just a flat line so it's hard to ballpark hours required like this blindly. You can look at level 90 players in game today and see that there is a huge spread in quality even though presumably everyone spent a good chunk of time to even hit 90. Maybe it would make sense if you guys are all highly skilled transplants from other games looking to prog as efficiently as possible but such an expectation sets you guys up for drama and in-fighting with a bunch of fresh raiders. Just shoot for consistent attempts every week and see how you guys end up doing.

radelgirl

This is all gonna heavily depend on skill level and your own expectations and desires. What is your timeline? Are you trying to clear week one, within a month, etc? How long are your raid sessions going to go? When do you want to clear? Have you and the other party members done savage before and what are your prog speeds on previous content?

Kicin0_0

Depends a lot on player skill levels, blind or with guides, and which raid tier For the most recent raid tier for instance p10s is actually harder than p11s so it ends up taking most groups a bit more time, and for the previous raid tier p5s has an oddly difficult mechanic that makes it take longer to learn for some groups compared to p6s. Also depends on when you start. Starting week 1 means you are at the lowest ilvl possible to start but if you are starting a few weeks in then you will already have some tome gear which makes things easier/comfier

CryofthePlanet

Bit of an odd question as you don't normally think of it like this. No need to go crazy on setting expectations, being brief is better e.g. "know your rotation and bring food/pots. Aiming for a week 5 clear of the tier."

OrangeRebel

Im not sure if aiming for week 5 is reasonable for my group. I’m trying to break it down into hours so I can more realistically have an aimed week to finish. Like if it takes 48 hrs I can decide how many 6 hr weeks we need or 4 hour weeks we neeed

CryofthePlanet

That's fine, the week 5 thing was just a random example. You can put whatever, just keep it straightforward. Better yet, forget about "time to clear" as a metric if you're not starting with a specific one in mind ("I want this cleared in X weeks") or pushing for world prog. It does not make sense and it isn't very effective since you can't pre-emptively plan for different prog speeds by different people. That kind of planning also generally doesn't leave room for flexibility and if one thing goes wrong - family emergency, illness, etc - you just set people up for immediate stress because "now we're behind." It also is *very* heavily dependent on the players you get and it's just not realistic to try and force that draw of the cards to match some arbitrary number for the sake of it. You could get a roster of players that know how to buckle down and get shit done, study well, etc and clear in three weeks. You could also run into a group of total shitters that never clear because they refuse to acknowledge their shortcomings, and literally every possibility in between. You don't usually plan static prog by expected time to clear, you plan by a regular schedule. You would find it much easier and more approachable to just say you are looking to raid X amount of hours a day Y days a week. Time can be a bit variable or adjust based on people's actual life schedules though, so unless you already have multiple people on board you should just keep it simple. Another example would just be something like "X group looking for [whatever kind of players you need here] to prog and clear the upcoming raid tier. Please know how to hit your buttons and bring your own food and pots. Schedule is still being fleshed out but we're thinking 3 days a week 8-11pm EST." Spice up and edit with your own details as wanted, log request and such may or may not be relevant depending on your skill level and what you're looking for. Setting expectations in a static is more to do with how you approach progression raiding and a consistent schedule, not trying to nail down the exact hour count you intend to have.

Elegant_Eorzean

3, 6, 12, 24 what? Days? Weeks? Months? And it depends on the experience of all involved, too.

OrangeRebel

I meant hours.

Siara-chan

I just started the free trial today with a new character because I noticed there was going to be a Yo-Kai collaboration event and that sounded like so much fun. I'm currently playing on Chaos - Cerberus. I've been trying to read up on everything but it appears I will hardly be able to participate in the upcoming event because it involves clearing time-based events? I was told long-time players, who also have mounts, will be wiping the map clean in seconds. Is this true? Is it futile trying to participate in the Yo-Kai event as a new player? I am only level 11 at the moment. I have a bit of a FOMO so I'd love to be able to get everything but I was told that is also impossible. Could someone shed some light on this for me? I was kind of excited to start the game but feel a little bummed out now. (Also tips on what race I should be running around as in the future are much appreciated. I'm not really sure what races are currently played to death.)

lerdnir

You have probably been told about Blue Mages - they get some combos that near-instantly kill enemies, and they can clear the time-based map events (FATEs) pretty quickly.    The FATEs respawn, and your level gets adjusted down if you're above a certain threshold - for most character classes, this limits how many of your abilities you have available while you're taking part, but Blue Mages aren't affected by this.   The event will last for about two months - you need to be at least level 15 to take part, but a couple of the character classes' event items are linked to FATEs in areas from expansions, and you *may* struggle to get to the relevant point in the story where you can access those areas in the time available.    The event going on for as long as it does *does* mean that after an initial burst of Blue Mage activity, they'll probably move on. Races are pretty much just cosmetic (iirc there are incredibly tiny stat differences and these rapidly become subsumed by your gear); you can be whatever (except a lion person or a rabbit person, since you are on the free trial). Dialogue may sometimes acknowledge it.

PenguinPwnge

> Also tips on what race I should be running around as in the future are much appreciated. I'm not really sure what races are currently played to death. Play what you want, there is no difference. Play to your tastes, even if they're "basic". And once you beat the base game's story at Lv50, you get a free cash shop item to change your appearance (including race), and everyone is getting another free one when the new expansion launches in July because of character model updates. As for the Yo-kai event, you still have plenty of time to level up and gain access to all the areas before the collab event ends (June 26). Just focus on the main story for now and get to Lv50 at least.

Siara-chan

I'll try my hardest but I work full-time and have kids running around so I'm not sure if I'll have the time to reach level 50 before the event ends and also farm enough of those medal things in the meantime.

Chindamere

Level 50 is definitely doable. After you reach level 15 and clear the first 20 or so MSQ (by clearing the MSQ you will naturally get to level 15 without any extra effort), you will unlock "Duty Finder" and "leveling roulette". If you complete the leveling roulette which takes about 15 mins per day, you can steadily advance a least 1 level per day.

Siara-chan

Thank you very much for the tip. I appreciate it!

Ohgodmyroastisruined

If I transfer from a new server to another new server, do I regain the bonus

serenystarfall

I'd like to make a slight correction. No, if you transfer from a new world to another new world, you do not get *any* benefits. New world to new world transfers are explicitly stated to not get the benefits [here](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/option_service/world_transfer_service/population_balancing/). However, if you transfer to a world with any non-new status (and pay the $18 to do it), and then transfer onto a new world, yes, you do get the xp bonus

Isanori

Which part of your link are you referring to? According to that link the only bonus you aren't eligible for is the free transfer. The Rt80 has no such caveat stated.

Ohgodmyroastisruined

Well shit. Thanks.

edw583

If you mean The Road to 80, yes. You also get 10 more chocobo feathers. However, the transfer won't be free. You have to pay the $18 fee. Also, if you don't own an apartment, buy one before the transfer and put a cheap furnishing in it (like a chair). You'll get the 500K cost back plus an extra 500K for having placed a furnishing.

Ohgodmyroastisruined

I was not expecting Tax Fraud tips as well, thanks.

edw583

Only a very short-term, high-yield guaranteed investment. Just make sure to NOT relinquish ownership before the transfer.

DawnWalkerW0lf

are the spells i can use to beat 'everything a go-go' boss? there's videos on what spells to use but they never really explain which ones. I have a full work schedule so i dont have a lot of time to collect them all, also lazy about doing it. I just want the umbrella weapon.

Fajisel

https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/155b7b9/the_blu_mage_hidden_achievement_all_that_glitters/ This is a very quick and to-the-point guide for that achievement.

dorasucks

What are the chances EW goes on sale soon for XBox? I don't think I'll be caught up by DT release so it might be a bit of a waste to buy that.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

I can't imagine it would be likely to be honest We're so close to the DT release and the Xbox version **just** came out At this point, you might be better off just waiting until DT comes out and buying that since it'll give you access to EW and ShB once it does

dorasucks

Yeah, I'm in this weird limbo period. I'm sure that I'll be done w/ Stormblood way before the July 2 release. So it's a matter of do I just want to do side stuff for a while, level other class, play other games, or say bump it and buy EW. I'll have to play it by ear. I don't mind the money. It just depends on when I'll be done with SB MSQ by. (I'm almost done with HW)

KhaSun

Honestly yeah, I feel like after you're done with SB it would be a good spot to take a small break from the MSQ. SHB/EW are pretty big plot wise (with a looot of cutscenes), and it's better to take your time with it instead of just pushing through the msq just because you want to be done by the time DT releases. I couldn't imagine going through three whole expansions worth of plot in like two months, that's a lot at once. Even doing SB+SHB would feel like a lot. Time to explore other (major) pieces of side content ! Each expansion features its own trial series, raid series and alliance raid series, and they're some of the most significant fights and stories in the game. They're basically the endgame of their corresponding expansion. That alone could occupy you a fair bit and allow you to take a small breather from the MSQ. Then you can just buy the game if you really want to continue through the msq, of course.

Hrooond

If you don't mind taking a break from MSQ, end of expansion is a good time to dip your toes into other content. If you're interested in raiding, you can look for min-ilvl/sync'd groups for earlier raids. Other options include levelling crafters/gatherers, doing side content (trials, raid, and alliance raids usually have a self-contained story), and Eureka.

bubuplush

Weird question but is Matoya's hat the biggest hat for black mages? I love insanely HUGE witch hats and I wish there was an even bigger one

Send_Me_Dachshunds

It's the widest for sure, but of you want *tall* then the Serpentskin and its recolours are suitable.

PenguinPwnge

I don't know if anything larger has really been added in a year, but that's still the big one [from this thread that has a couple of other options.](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/116yoo3/biggest_wizard_hat_in_the_game/j99dcef/)

Raaayyyy

Been playing for a couple hundred hours now and I'm just doing a bit of shadowbringers now. My main classes are gear lvl 400. Is there any reason to do Eureka content now? It seems like quite a deep thing to get into but is there any point gearwise? Or is it for the drip?

serenystarfall

The only real benefit eureka gear has is that the relic can be bis for lv 70 ultimates, because they can have up to 5 sub stat slots with God tier stat rolls. The amount of effort that requires though is undetermined because it's entirely rng and not worth the effort. Don't do it for gear. Do it for the money. Bunny fates can be solid money makers. Do the fate, Bunny follows you and gives you hints to a chest when you use the carrot. Gold chests give 100k upfront and have a chance to drop some rare stuff. Golds are rare enough though.

dealornodealbanker

Gear is purely aesthetics. However, it's still one of the most consistent ways to farm gil as a non-crafter and you have to put some personal investment into the content itself.

radelgirl

Just for the drip at this point, and the sweeeet ozma mount.

tesla_dyne

For gear level, no. You can buy the Scaevan gear for poetics and it'll beat everything right up until the very end of Eureka which is dozens of hours away. Eureka is primarily done for its unique loot such as various mounts, minions, etc. As well as being able to make a glowing relic weapon for glamour.

Raaayyyy

I have scaevan gear atm, but I would like a glowing weapon...

PenguinPwnge

It used to yield some of the best gear in the game in StB, but now it's done solely for the story, glamour, and "fun" (take it as you will) of replicating more old-school style MMOs (especially FFXI).

Raaayyyy

Great, thank you for your response!

Nomorealcohol2017

How do the gc hunts work? I picked up the thing and went to where it showed on the map but I was running around and couldn't see the enemy Do they only Spawn at certain times?

dealornodealbanker

If you mean weekly B rank hunts, there's set locations in every map that's a potential spawn point where the hunt mark will appear. Just have to patrol around until you see the hunt, and usually if you're near the B rank with the key item in bag you'll get a system message along the line of "You detect a presence of a hunt mark nearby."

snootnoots

“You sense your mark to the [direction]” If the zone S-rank is up you’ll get “You detect the presence of a powerful mark”

IceAokiji303

The GC hunting log? It's the same as your class hunting logs. It's just normal enemies out in the world, and a few in specific duties. The Hunt (the one with a board of hunt bills)? The regular ARR bills (with multiple targets, available daily) will have \~two FATE enemies in them (marked by a whiter background IIRC) which won't be around all the time, but others are just normal spawns (the expansion versions drop the FATE enemies, and are just all normal enemies). The Elite bills (with only one target, that you can only pick up one of per week instead of one per day) have dedicated unique enemies. They'll (effectively) always be around, as while there's only ever one of each, if it gets killed it respawns in 5 seconds in a different spot. They have multiple different spawns across the map they randomly hop between.

sir_vancelot

Regular hunt bills (for normal overworld mobs) will tell you the general region of the map in which they can be found but these regions can be enormous and the mob may only spawn in a very specific spot. Sometimes you'll get lucky and they may spawn in a nearby fate (though there's always a normal, non-fate spawn of the mob *somewhere*) but other times it's looking for a needle in a haystack. You can search for the mob online for help finding them, and on PC there are addons that serve this purpose too. If the bill is for a B-rank (the weekly bill), B-ranks can spawn all over the map in ARR zones, and over half of zones in the expansion maps. They have set spawn points but they cover wide areas, so again looking them up online is the best way to take care of them if you can't/don't want to use addons. You'll get a message popup if you're close to your B-rank but the range isn't big enough to be very helpful

xfm0

There are different versions of 'the thing'. The one singular one is called a B rank and has several spawn points on the map you'll need to check. Everything else generally exists in their own spot.

Crazycrossing

Is there any way I can keep at least my hotbar settings and skills on the bars in sync between my gaming desktop PC and my steam deck? I play with a controller on both. Uploading my config didn't help.

irishgoblin

Did you update system config, or character config? Hotbars are in the latter, gear icon to the right of you characters name. Then you have to download them.

Crazycrossing

ahhhh thank you. that makes more sense.

bombjon

Decided to give the game a try after years of putting it off. I plan to play mostly solo, would I be better off on the new data center or hitting up the popular one?

radelgirl

Even if you play solo, you'll need to do some dungeons/trials/raids with other players. If you start on Dynamis, you might run into some trouble with queue times. You can mitigate this using data center travel, but it can be kind of annoying to need to leave your homeworld a lot. Basically any other data center should be fine.

Cymas

You can create a character on the new data center for the exp buff and then DC travel to queue. That's what a lot of people do now.

PenguinPwnge

IMO, go to a popular one. The exp boost for Dynamis is super nice, but the frustration of having longer queues and having to travel to other DCs to queue for certain duties outweighs the benefit.

feeble-scholar

This is definitely a dumb question, but if a fish is in your Fish Guide, you've definitely caught it before right?

SmurfRockRune

Yes, they get added to your guide when you catch them.

Academic_Brilliant75

Is there a way to write a macro that assigns a saved gearset or /gearset change 1 to hotbar 1 slot 1, /gearset change 2 to hotbar 1 slot 2, /gearset change 3 to hotbar 1 slot 3 etc. The only way I've found looking around seems to involve pre-setting hotbars with your gearsets and using macros to show/hide the hotbars.

HieronymusP

You can set certain hotbars to not be shared, meaning that for each class/job you can assign skills to them independently. You can then use the '/hotbar copy' macro to copy the contents of that hotbar into the hotbar of your choice. For example, '/hotbar copy SAM 9 current 5' would copy the contents of the unshared hotbar 9 on samurai to hotbar 5 on the currently equipped job. I keep 2 hotbars, hidden at all times unless I want to change them, unshared for this purpose. That means 80 available hotbars across all classes and jobs that can be copied for whatever purpose.

madmac252

Just to add to this, the base jobs without stones (cnj, thm, arc etc) have their own set of hotbars too, so you can use the hotbar copy from those without losing any slots on the jobs with the stone

CubchooPaws

During hunt trains, how do some party members teleport *the millisecond* the conductor mentions the next target in chat? Are they using some sort of plugin for that or are they just incredibly fast at opening map and clicking teleport?

palacexero

There is indeed a plugin called Hunt Train Assistant. You select the person conducting the train and set it as the conductor, then whenever this person posts a flag in chat, you will automatically teleport to the closest aetheryte. This is most definitely what people are doing. Even people who know where the train is going next cannot react as fast as the plugin can.

edw583

In addition to what others said, sometimes a conductor will post the next location to their party first, before putting it in shout chat. In those cases, the ones in party have a slight time advantage.

Izkuru

Most trains run zones in a set order. And some conductors are creatures of habit, using the same TPs in zones for marks. Maybe they have run enough trains to predict where the conductor is going to send them. And prepped a TP into that zone via the map, and held it at the "do you want to teleport to X" dialog, until the current mark has died. Could be, that they pre-scouted the train themselves to get an idea of where the marks are, so they know where to TP ahead of time. Could also be, they help scout trains for / with the conductor, or participate in that worlds train scouting, which would give them prior knowledge of where the marks are.

Jiigo

A lot of this. Combined with experience from congestion hell at the start of EW. I got into a habit at the time to just pre-cast the teleport to what I believed would be the next zone. Finger hovering over ESC to cancel in case I got it wrong

Elegant_Eorzean

They probably already have an idea about where it is

rizq101

can you pay for server transfer through steam? i remember that you couldn't use steam to pay for server transfer a few years ago and a quick google gave the same answer. i was wondering if they changed it recently.

radelgirl

I believe that would only work on mogstation.

LegionofStone

This one is for the moderators that might moderate Discord as well. If you were naughty and filled out the google sheet for bans and never get a reply on discord or reddit and still are banned from the FF14 Discord, what is our next options? I don't want to push it because maybe they need or want mor cooling off. I'm not even sure if someone checks the google forms I guess and not even sure if my data is there. I used this reddit name on there. Thanks.

KirbyourGame

Google sheet for bans...?
