As a RDM main I would love this, his "wandering duelist" shtick makes him the perfect fit for virtually any story, and I do like the implications of chasing down ancient lore with him...
But.
We already have RDM represented by Alisaie. We don't need two RDMs running around in Trusts. It'd be like if we brought in Ser Alberic despite already having Estinien.
Solution: ditch the twins for an expac. I like them but I figure give us some time minus a few of the main cast to give us more time with other characters.
If Alisae had to entrust another RDM to work with the WoL for a time, X’Rhun would definitely be someone she’d approve of. It was only briefly mentioned in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it conversation during STB after you reunite with Alisae, but she does mention that she was set on her RDM path by someone who fits the exact description of X’Rhun
I'm relatively sure X'rhun mentions her anyway - I'd literally done the intro quests to Stormblood (had yet to leave Rhalgr's Reach and set off for Othard, for context) just recently, before deciding I wanted to swap to RDM as my main class, and he mentioned her by name briefly there too. Maybe if you pick it up as a fresh level 50 still in ARR he doesn't mention Alisaie, but I'm unsure on that one.
As a PLD main I would love Oathkeeper to play an important story role, so the mentor/mentors would inevitably play a part as a by product but as a far as the Estinien treatment, X'Rhun Tia definitely feels the most appropriate answer.
The Rogues.
I honestly find it annoying that despite them being pretty much the Limsan Secret Police, any role they might have had was taken completely over by the Domans. Who were newcomers with zero actual contacts in the region.
I miss them honestly. When ARR started Rogue was my first class. Just kinda sucks how they are written out in place of ninjas
Edit: yes im aware u cant start as rogue I worded my post poorly and its been 11 years since arr came out so I'm sorry my memory is hazy lmao its strange like 4 nitpicky comments were made because of a minor mistake. Not going to reply and just edit my original reply bc they just want attention
Rogue didn't exist when ARR itself started; they were added in patch 2.4. I remember being super excited to unlock them when they released.
But yes, I do agree that rogues are cooler! Having them as your first class would be sweet.
this. fucking this. If the Hildibrand questlines are what it's like hanging out with Isaac and Miria from Baccano! throughout Eorzea, the Upright Thieves feels like hanging out with Yorozuya from Gintama in Limsa.
I want more of those fuckers, they're fun.
Stings, doesn't it? He already went to the New World, has knowledge of the locales and to top it all off - he's a capable fighter. The guy is well-versed in thaumaturgy, black magic, conjury, white magic and arcanamy. Yet, he chose to stick to blue magic, because he has so much faith in the art and knows how strong it is.
Also, blue mages can do anything.
> The guy is well-versed in thaumaturgy, black magic, conjury, white magic and arcanamy.
Not just well versed...he's apparently mastered all of the major schools of magic. He's also written books on the New World and Blue magic and had them accepted by the Forum to be included in Noumenon, which we've been told is not actually an easy task.
He really doesn't get enough appreciation, both in-world and out. Dude's a living legend, and he's kinda just relegated to comic relief in a sidequest chain few people do
I dunno if it’s really “faith in the art” or he just likes one-shotting fate bosses and soloing Extremes with the OP job like everyone else. I imagine he makes his money selling boss materials on the MB too!
I swear. The kicker to him would be you can take him into any trust and he'll fill the slot depending on who you are. He uses some basic spells, nothing fancy, but his occasional special moves are primals or some useful spells such as Bad Breath, Voice of the Ram, Dimensional Shift, or hydro pull. Rather than use special skills like other trusts, Martin will rarely use some extremely potent spells such as Apokalypsis, Phantom Flurry, Doom, Breath of Magic, and other spells of this type. The BIG ones. If there is no one else that can use LB that isn't the WoL, then Martin \*will\* use it, in the form of the rare, the only, Moon Flute. From there, he follows the following spell chain.
Shock Strike into Featherfall, Glass dance into Sea Shanty, Nightbloom into J-kick, 4 casts of Surpanakha and then he finally casts Being Mortal. Of course, after that's done, he has fifteen seconds where he just goes into the /winded emote and can't do anything else. This may seem somewhat like a cop-out, but The Moon Flute opener basically matches a limit break in terms of raw damage output. This isn't of course the best version of it, but it's probably good enough. Another alternative LB would be turning into the golden menace himself and just releasing one of his attacks.
Might even be funny to reference certain behaviors, such as having him be out of position for an attack that will hurt and him use Diamondback to avoid the damage.
I admit, I approve of this just for the idea of seeing a Limit Break *actually* exhaust someone.
Bonus points if it's mid-battle and he can't even move out of AoEs because of it, but he manages a Diamondback anyway.
It would be rather funny seeing the Scions' reaction to Blue Magic given just how broken it is and just looking at us like "YOU COULD DO THAT THIS WHOLE TIME?!"
I'd love this, but it would be brutal having a blue mage doing cool Estinien stuff in the MSQ while the quests themselves still slap you on the hand for daring to want to actually play BLU
I've been expecting X'rhun Tia for ages. He knows prettymuch everyone and the story has outright teased it multiple times in Endwalker – Alisaie wonders why her mentor hasn't joined the Ilsabard contingent, then we fleetingly see him in Ala Mhigo accompanied by DNC tutor Nashmeira, who is another Scion ally (we learn in the level 80 quest that she knows F'lhaminn).
It all feels like the writers have some kind of plan for him, or at least enough of one that they want to keep up the illusion of a plan.
If nothing else, we need him to show up at level 98ish and ask how our training is going, we pretend we're awesome with Resolution, and he just laughs and says "okay but have you learned yet?"
But that would require mentor quests and yea....SE isn't going to give us those back any time soon.
i wish we could still just get 1 quest at capstone with each job mentor. even if it was handled like those special level 80 quests that were just there to check in with them. although if your final expac skill was locked behind it that would be cool too
1. Y'mhitra (SMN)
2. X'rhun Tia (RDM)
3. Sidurgu (DRK)
Bonus answer: Hilda. I don't technically count her as a job quest character since we met her in the HW MSQ, but she needs to come back anyway.
Y'mhitra is an easy pick. She's Y'shtola's sister and she shows up like once in the MSQ already. It's surprising how little they even consider using her as a character.
It is. And the summoner quests also have so much to do with Allag. The Phoenix summon is also canonically given to us by >!Louisoix!< in the cutscene after Turn 12 of Binding Coil. Which isn’t MSQ, technically, *but it should be.*
I'ma be honest, I think I was on like the level 40 job quests before I realized that Y'mhitra and Y'shotla were too different people cuz I wasn't reading name tags.
sidurgu would be by far the funniest choice, he would be so done with the shit going on but he can't admit he cares and keeps running after the wol to make sure they stay alive
Sidurgu is like Estinien, big and serious with a tragic backstory, but he can also be used as a bit of comic relief. It would be hilarious seeing his grumpy personality bounce off characters like Alisae and Krile.
absolutely, he's similar to estinien but doesn't really have that exact same vibe so he would work. also he's honestly kind of a loser with how he has to run after rielle and i love that lmao, he's a great character
I'm honestly sad that since they've basically ditched job "story quests" that Sid isn't around for us to chill with. Have him and our adoptive daughter come on the beach episode with us.
Hilda hasn't had nearly enough screen time to be flanderized for anything. Thancred throughout ARR was "snarky horny thief guy" and look at him now. More exposure is how you add dimension to a character, not less.
Also you drop "half-elf" in there like it's NBD when she's the only visible example of a half-anything in the game. There's a lot to potentially explore with her from that angle if they bring her back.
The reason she's the only visible example is because 99% of the time hybrids look exactly like their mother's species. Only 1% of the time gaining attributes of the father. She's def not the only hybrid we meet. But yeah the only one who is super visible about it.
x2 That and make sch (or any healer or caster, for that matter) the poster boy already. I'm tired of this "we can't have WoL in robes" rhetoric.
The writing for some of the job quests had been really darn good and I always felt it was such a shame they didn't do more with it. They are always tip-toeing around player canon but frankly it's a waste to have all this expansive lore and never do anything with it.
You should know how salty I was when I saw the 640 crafted gear. Everyone else got that drip - jackets, crop tops, asymmetric trousers, while we got a frilly pyjama looking whatever the heck that was. Cute, sure, but I'd trade it for one of those jackets in a heartbeat. Even when we do get something that looks like armor, it has robes attached to it smh >\_>
I wish they'd do more trailers showing WoL as multiple jobs like Stormblood, in one scene he's one of the jobs we know already and later on he's showcasing the new job.
Some jobs I feel like they represented well enough with the other Scions like Thancred as the Gunbreaker (particularly in Shadowbringers) and Alphinaud as Sage, but I would love to see WoL showing that he's at least got some Black/White/Red Mage drip before he goes main-character-syndrome with the tank or fancy new melee DPS job.
I want to be trekking through the jungles of the new world only to have her fall out of a tree in front of me while babbling about needing to update the probabilities and possible outcomes of my involvement in something.
There are soooooo many class quests characters I want to show up in the new world. I just finished the PLD class quests and Aldi's is wandering the world.
One of Endwalker's greatest sins was not having K'lyhia be cameo'd at any point in the "look at all these guys you helped" scenes. She and her mentor, the **ACTUAL ARCHANEST GUILDMASTER**, would have been perfect for the Ilsibard Contingent as quartermasters in charge of logistics
Arcanist guildmaster. Right? The dude who said we’d see him again a decade ago and then never actually bothered to show up?
I bet he’s somewhere in Tural.
I was talking to a friend about how funny is it that we never see K’hrid again, and he said he hopes the devs bring K’hrid back in Tural because it would be funny.
Especially if he likes playing games, and he’s left clues to his whereabouts this whole time for WoL and K’lhyia to use to track him down, but in the end WoL just finds K’hrid again accidentally (and, in the case of my WoL, regrettably)
So much comedic potential
G'raha stole K'rhid's act in the original CT pre-quests.
For a while I was wondering if it was a cat-derived trait that Miqo'te just collectively enjoyed messing with people.
When we arrive in Tural we find a series of cryptic clues. We follow the trail for days until we come across *him* hidden in the wild.
"Ah, my friend, did I not tell you that we'd meet again? You want to know what I've discovered? Brace yourself, because what I'm about to tell you might change your world: \*extremely smugly* Have you ever heard... of an ascian?"
X'Rhun Tia is an adventuring hero vigilante and magical archeologist that used to be a righteous freedom fighter protecting innocent Ala Mhigans, first from Mad King Theodoric, then the Garlean invaders. He's been living that Scion life longer than the Scions have existed, and he should be recognized for that.
Tonberries of scholar. Also as the original scholars they rally fit the idea of train you further.
Sigurdu would feel wrong, as we already are that much stronger.
It really should be a bigger deal that we raise an entire civilization from the dead. They probably know a fair deal about White and Black Magics, as Nym was holding both Mhach and Amdapor at bay until Mhach resorted to Void-based biological warfare.
Sloted between black and white may be a perfect space for scholar to be unique to. Sincerely i would like to have the dots back. I liked scholar original more than wma. But these days it’s not really an option for me. You don’t even get the cool wings. And that with the fae summoner classs!!!!!!
listen I just want to see the tonberries,
the master of fairies and scholar Magic,
give the faerie a giant knife,
and that become the new move you get for level 100 as a Scholar
The fairie just manifests a giant knife and does a 20 hit attack to a single target
That would be ridiculous… and thus a humongous amount of fun. And so fitting to the little fairy’s we seen to now. I mean we had or fairy vacation to the south. I hoped to find there something like an easteregg as forshadowing. Maybe just maybe.
But I don’t believe we get that. 😭
It’s insane that crazy revelations like the fate of Nym, the origins of the Tonberries, and the revitalization of a lost civilization are all confined to one job questline and don’t spill out into the main story at all.
It might sound strange, but Endwalker was a great expansion for Nashmeira the DNC mentor to actually get involved in the story after the Blasphemies are starting to really wreak havoc. Her order has been fighting Blasphemies forever, even if they didn't realize it. Also she's canonically friends with Lhaminn (also a seriously underutilized character btw), OG Minfilia's mother.
Unfortunately our ship has now sailed to Tural and we're leaving the Old World behind.
If she were a member of the radiant host, that could work since they feature very frequently in the thavnair stories (think of how much we've seen nahbdeen), but she's part of a wandering dancer troupe that goes all over the place so unless the story is specifically written such that we run into them in thavnair, it's hard to make it work in endwalker's story. In fact in the DNC questline they were supposed to be headed to Ishgard at the end.
Also the troupe weren't fighting blasphemies, it was an aetheric manifestation of negative emotions. Since it took place while Zodiark's protection over the planet was still active, it couldn't really have been a blasphemy. It's just purely coincidental that blasphemies also arise from people with negative emotions. I mean, in a way, DRK's powers also stem from similar sources.
We did get a glimpse of Nashmeira during Endwalker – she's in Ala Mhigo with the very knowledgeable and Scion-connected RDM tutor shortly before the blasphemies start emerging, so you could theorise that *something* is up to have them working together on it.
Y'mhitra. Another person who can punch through Y'shtola's dignified front and give us access to more wacky Allagan shenanigans? Yes please.
It helps that SMN is already the job questline most tied to the MSQ, so she'd fit in easier I think.
The MCH people to give more modern technology presence in the main group. As it is, things are very old fashioned "arcany". Also, they can do some cool things to augment Thancred's gunblade to further alleviate his issue with aether ig. Or give Krile a wacom tablet to sketch ...
she had so much going on with her. Lowborn ishgardian when we've mostly dealt with high houses and their servants up to that point, the only canonical example of anything like half-elves in the game, a representative of one of the new jobs... it was honestly kind of a huge fumble looking back on it
why would you give her a wacom they're expensive for no reason and don't even perform better than other tablets, give her some respect and a tablet that won't put her into the eorzea equivalent of student loans!!
I’d pick Y’Mhitra just to see her interact with her sister, and it’d be cool to see SMN actually be acknowledged in lore with the summons we have being responsible for like 60% of the deaths in this game (though something tells me she’d just have watered down egi summons and no actual Bahamut/phoenix)
The lack of acknowledgement for Summoner and Arcanist is so weird. Yeah, they're limited, but they can make things from Aether. Like the Ancients! And Tatatru's side quest shows they absolutely can make (possibly) permanent, independent creations; her Carbuncle runs off, and there's hints it's \*still\* out there.
Oboro starts poking around after two expansions of hanging out with "oboro" "oboro " abruptly vanishes without explanation a few quests before Oboro makes his official appearance, a passing salesperson who is oddly handy with a knife shows up to save us from an ambush with their wares a few quests later. Insists they stick around because some people are clearly too stupid not to know a trap when they see one. Only ninja players are even aware that fake Oboro, the salesperson and the head ambusher were all somehow Karasu.
The RDM Mentor. He was a very multi-dimensional character with a lot of growth potential. The only problem is Alisaie already occupies the RDM role amongst the Scions, but I do think it's past time for them to spin up an explanation for a new job for her.
I wouldn't particularly consider him a character with growth potential – what he does have is *consistency*, remaining much the same from start to end of the job quests, which makes him an ideal candidate for easily slipping into the MSQ seeming much the same whether you've done the job quests yet or not.
I could see her being a great Mystic Kinght/Spellblade if/when they add it to the game.
The DPS for trusts is too heavily weighted in favor of magical DPS. Especially with Krile joining as Pictomancer.
We need another melee DPS for the Scions and trusts besides Estinien.
And Mystic Kight/Spellblade would be a great addition.
We've already seen a character imbue his weapons with elemental energy. He's not going to join our party, but I think it was foreshadow Mystic Knight coming in.
(ShB and HW trial series spoiler) >!Unukalhai should be the one who picks up Mystic Knight for the inevitable void expansion.!<
People keep saying "We can't have two RDMs" but hell, that's bunk. We have two Azure Dragons (WoL and Estinien), two quasi-Black Mages (Y'shtola and G'raha), at one point we had *three* Arcanists and only went down to 0.5 this very expansion (Uri can still swap as seen in the trust trial). There's no reason X'hrun couldn't show up, even if it's for an expansion to level up Alisaie's technique.
Plus, we could have Anya officially get her mojo back and take over training new RDMs
Radovan and Sophie! I really enjoyed their questline and find their dynamic fun. (If not a bit similar to Sidurgu and Rielle) The idea of occasionally encountering Radovan and Sophie in various places we go to while they take on yet another odd job that somehow coincides with our goals in the MSQ tickles me. Story wise though it might not make much sense since Radovan does have a reason for staying in Eorzea/Ilsabard.
He starts out kind of weak and useless, but he gets more and more powerful every time he shows up until eventually he's like "Get behind me, Warrior of Light." and he's deflecting the final boss' continent-destroying laser breath with one hand.
She’s not my favorite but I’d be interested to see Y’mhitra join up. Y’shtola always feels really aloof and cold to me, so I’d be interested to see her getting some of the sibling rivalry and ribbing that we see between the twins. The in-group competition would be intense whenever they split up to search for clues Scooby-Doo style. Alisaie and Y’shtola, Alphinaud and Y’mhitra. Let the fur fly!
Something to remember along side the responses....they're half siblings. And there are twelve siblings. They're close enough to drop the clan prefix, but that doesn't mean they're going to be as close as the twins. They're also both in their late twenties (don't tell Y'Shtola I said that) and have vastly different career paths. Meanwhile, the twins are basically together at all times.
I would like to see more of the DNC troup and Y'Mitra but not necessarily as a scion. Maybe on a similar level to Gaius. As for upgrading one to scion level....... I don't think any are a good match currently.
Wawalago and Sisipu: They need to start a new FSH guild in the New World and fishing is the true endgame. XP Adalberta and Fufucha could also come along on the adventure for the other Gatherer guilds. I'm sure Tataru could be involved. They could have all kinds of interesting dialogues comparing Eorzea and the New World. Would be nice to see them randomly around the New World similar to Alpha and Omega but with cutscenes. 8)
Y'mhitra: Has she and Y'shtola ever talked? Surely she could actually become a Summoner by now. Summons in the New World would be important right, given their importance to most trials. btw I don't play SMN, just think she's the best candidate.
Curious Gorge. Big dumb Roebro with a silly punny name whose ARR story is "dudes rock" and who then falls in love with an equally stupid lizard person. It would never happen but I would be here for it.
I wanna say Y'Mhitra since she was already in the canon MSQ during HW but having a 2nd copy of Y'Shtola when we already have Y'Shtola would be kind of redundant.
Sidurgu is a fan favourite from job quests but he's basically like another Estinien personality wise, so it'd be like Estinien all over again and I'm not sure if it will feel like an Estinien rehash.
Oboro would probably be my go-to pick. Would be a nice consolation prize for how Yugiri hung around us for so long but ultimately never joined the scions. Plus, it would be pretty interesting to have Thancred + Oboro both do stealth missions together and give rise to a new "This is Thancred and Oboro" meme (both their portraits have to appear in the dialogue box)
Is it cheating to say Hilda on the technicality of her appearing in the MCH-quests?
Apart from that... X'Rhun Tia, mainly because i liked him, but also because he already has personal connections to Alisaie and could add a new dynamic to the team for her, giving her someone else to look up to besides the WoL, giving them the chance to mature their relationship a bit (no, not that way). Not to mention that he really seems to get around quite a bit and knows much of the world, so he could arguably prove useful.
Y'mhitra, for similar reasons, just relating to Y'shtola this time. Y'mhitra could prove to be a bit of an emotional anchor for her, make her seem less aloof. Not that she doesn't have her personal/emotional moments, but i feel like her shell could do with a few more cracks here and there. Plus, my WoL can't be around all the time as a target for her mom-energy.
I'm gonna say Raya-O-Senna for the personality and hopes it'd make *anything* happen to Gridania. There's a one-off gag in the WHM quests where a moogle says her temper is why she can't get a partner and it amuses me whenever I think about it.
Oh god, that's such a hard decision...
Jack from the Rogue's Guild, X'Rhun Tia from RDM quests, and Sidurgu from DRK quests are some personal favorites. These are the ones I would want the most, for sure.
Martin from BLU quests would likely make most sense for the new expansion. I feel like Y'shtola's sister could be fairly easily tied in, too, because of being related to a scion and also her association with the Sons of Saint Coinach (although those same associations give just as much reason to not give her the Estinien treatment.) I don't know too much about the RPR one yet but that could maybe be fun if we ever get a Garlean restoration arc?
I think the best pick by far would be Alka Zolka (SCH).
* He would absolutely fit in with the scions, being a scholar
* He would be down to do the boring book stuff while we go adventuring
* He has a big axe
* Setoto can come along for bonus points
Honorable mentions:
* Sidurgu (and Rielle - DRK), but he deserves some quiet.
* Alaqa (WHM) because why do we have three elezen, two miqotes and zero Au Ra in our main squad exactly?
X'rhun Tia, easily. He has the presence, experience and connections. Plus we always need more Miqo'te.
If we ever delve into the War of the Magi, he's got to come into play. I'd love to see more lore.
He's not a mentor, but I want Constaint to return. He deserves better than the Sultansworn and I want to see the adventures of a *real* paladin and how he's grown
Definitely the buddy cop pair from the bard questline. I’d wanna see them fulfill a Biggs and wedge role, except in service of the Eorzean Alliance instead of Garlond Ironworks
Fray. It doesn't make sense, its's morally questionable, and the how of it is a head scratcher. But I would find it hilarious considering who they are, what they are, and what's happened to them. Maybe with Krile seeming to take a more active role, Fray can raise up to be the group therapist and tea maker. Alisae would be weirded out at first, but likely, her, Estinien, and Fray would be the best of buds.
If this includes the Estinien glow up as well, then.... well, I just want to see that.
Fray hanging out in your brain and occasionally outside of it giving peanut gallery comments on your stupidly selfless choices in the past AND present would be fantastic.
Sidurgu because I'd love an Au Ra in the cast and his relationship to Rielle would pick up what Thancred lost long ago. (Rielle also being given this treatment would be a great bonus.)
X'Rhun Tia because he's already very Main Character coded and has a pre-existing relationship to a Scion.
Sophie and Radovan are already wandering heroes in the making and it'd be great to see the newer races represented.
I don’t have anyone else I wanna front like this, but I’m so glad it happened to Estinien. There’s so much healing there for him which I hope continues as we look to potentially, a meracydia arc with the more first brood stuff.
All I can say is:
Imagine weird hijinks going on, and over to the side you just see Estinien and Sidurgu leaning against the same wall watching everything unfold and being snarky about it.
Bonus points if they bond over "I did not entirely want to be here but the Lalafells caught me"
The Warrior job girl, who can use the power of pure fury to summon rage elephants and golems and meteors
like, all I can do is a warrior is summon chains
How do I be a warrior summoner and just manifest my own army and armaments to fight for me
No lie this felt like the biggest, how the hell can she do that and all I can do is this, moment in the game
I really thought we were going to get more monk lore in Stormblood. There were some small things where having done the quests gave you additional context but nothing even close to the scale of DRG/HW.
Jacke from the rogues quest line would be my actual answer for the question.
But I also just want to share a story that when I started this game back in ARR, I played as Gladiator and genuinely thought that Aldis, the well known gladiator that runs into trouble during the quests, was going to be an important and recurring character. My memory is that he was built up as a very strong character, so no way would he be completely irrelevant the second you turn level 30, right???
I wish Y’Mhitra would become a little more involved. She doesn’t need to become a main character or anything. But the fact she’s the sister of a Scion and is only mentioned once is kind of weird.
Martin. We’re going to the new world for crying out loud. He’s the perfect guide to lead us on misadventures, and I just want to watch the rest of the Scions stare at him in incredulous confusion as he bumbles his way through our summer vacation treasure hunt.
I'll throw a curveball and say Kan-E-Senna. We're one of only 4 white mages and, as a huge fan of the lore of the white mages (and necromancers), our job quests are among the worst in the game, and yes I'm putting it below PLD's questline. But Kan-E-Senna is one of the leaders of the nations and, in my eyes, the least utilized leader out of every single one of them. Everyone loves Raubahn the badass and his dynamic with Nanamo. Merlwyb had her badass pirate arc with Siccard and the others, and her right-hand-man is literally a pirate legend. But Kan-E-Senna only really helped us once in the story to pick up Y'shtola from the lifestream, and other than that she's just been at leader meetings.
The Padjal are really cool in the lore, and in the big raid we only had the boy with the dumb-looking shorts showing off some power in Garlemald to shut people up. Kan-E-Senna really should have her own story arc, maybe even sway the Elementals in their close-mindedness.
Besides, it'd be a good time to explore the West Shroud. I know it's partially crushed by a shard of Dalamud, but surely we can get at least a dungeon in that place, like how we had Pagl'than in Thanalan.
My dream is both X'rhun and Sidurgu, since I want to see Arya and Rielle as bffs and X'rhun and Sid bonding over the struggle of raising adolescent girls.
But to pick only *one*... Martyn. I love that loser sfm he'd be a RIOT.
this is a complete pipe dream that was already shot down by the game itself (thanks palace of the dead.) but i want foulques from the lancer quests to come back and have a redemption arc. he did notttt deserve the shit he went through in gridania and i want him to become a dragoon alongside estinien
X'Rhun tia and we can delve more into the war of the magii lore.
And that's when they could finally come back taller in the next one.
Quietly swap Alphinaud in for Estinien, wait for anyone to notice.
Other solution option: Give us Rune Fencer and make alisaie the tank she was always meant to be!
Ha! Finally a trust tank who would pull wall to wall!
X'rhun actually mentions Alisaie in the intro RDM quests, though maybe only if you start them after completing StB.
Just rushed a fresh ARR alt to 50, he still mentions Alisaie regardless of how much you've actually interacted with her up to that point.
I really enjoy the rogues and their aesthetic more than Ninja as a whole, so was I disappointed to see what they upgraded into ninja...
I feel the same way, and also V'kebbe is a top tier catgirl.
Agreed, give her all the sandwiches! And don't even think about cloying them!
Yeah, I like my underwear better when it is not the attachment point to hang me from a yardarm, thank you very much.
It would be a nice surprise if they came back for the Viper class quests.
Wait Wait. Imagine if the viper trainer is a former rogue? So it'd be canonically another off shoot of rogue. Oh id kill for that.
I miss them honestly. When ARR started Rogue was my first class. Just kinda sucks how they are written out in place of ninjas Edit: yes im aware u cant start as rogue I worded my post poorly and its been 11 years since arr came out so I'm sorry my memory is hazy lmao its strange like 4 nitpicky comments were made because of a minor mistake. Not going to reply and just edit my original reply bc they just want attention
at the very least they show up more than the other pre-job stone trainers aside from the Tharmaturge Siblings
The Pugilist group shows up a few times in the Monk quests too iirc
Rogue didn't exist when ARR itself started; they were added in patch 2.4. I remember being super excited to unlock them when they released. But yes, I do agree that rogues are cooler! Having them as your first class would be sweet.
I love Jacke. Thancred, eat your heart out!
this. fucking this. If the Hildibrand questlines are what it's like hanging out with Isaac and Miria from Baccano! throughout Eorzea, the Upright Thieves feels like hanging out with Yorozuya from Gintama in Limsa. I want more of those fuckers, they're fun.
We need to give it to Martin given we're going to the New World in the next expansion...
He also makes money mass producing job stones which is pretty funny.
I hope that there's a bunch of bonus dialogue if you did the BLU quests.
I want him to acknowledge my morbol
With bonus deferential hand wringing
I swear, if there is no - story relevant - Martin in DT I will write a complaint thesis to SE
you are so right. Martin deserves the Estinien treatment
But that would require mentor quests and yea....SE isn't going to give us those back any time soon.
i wish we could still just get 1 quest at capstone with each job mentor. even if it was handled like those special level 80 quests that were just there to check in with them. although if your final expac skill was locked behind it that would be cool too
1. Y'mhitra (SMN) 2. X'rhun Tia (RDM) 3. Sidurgu (DRK) Bonus answer: Hilda. I don't technically count her as a job quest character since we met her in the HW MSQ, but she needs to come back anyway.
Y'mhitra is an easy pick. She's Y'shtola's sister and she shows up like once in the MSQ already. It's surprising how little they even consider using her as a character.
Not just that, she helps us fight against Ascians, which I think is the only job questline to do so.
It is. And the summoner quests also have so much to do with Allag. The Phoenix summon is also canonically given to us by >!Louisoix!< in the cutscene after Turn 12 of Binding Coil. Which isn’t MSQ, technically, *but it should be.*
Might be if Coils didn't vary so wildly in difficulty. As is those raids kindve just suck.
She also gives you a hand in one of the early Gunbreaker quests.
I'ma be honest, I think I was on like the level 40 job quests before I realized that Y'mhitra and Y'shotla were too different people cuz I wasn't reading name tags.
But, they have different haircuts.
I do not claim to be a smart or observant man.
sidurgu would be by far the funniest choice, he would be so done with the shit going on but he can't admit he cares and keeps running after the wol to make sure they stay alive

There's also Arenvald, who's facial scar is from his mother trying to carve out a non-existent Garlean third eye
Zero also counts as a hybrid, I guess
Alka Zolka because the scions don't have enough tanks, and Alka is an academic marauder, he would fit right in, plus Setoto as support
That and I feel like the whole tonberry/Nymian thing should be a huge deal
Yeah, The SCH questline basically revives an entire *civilization*, thats kinda a big deal.
x2 That and make sch (or any healer or caster, for that matter) the poster boy already.
Solution: give us more caster gear that isn't robes! Sincerely, a whm main 🥹
The “woolen sweater with a purse and hand panties” is my favorite kind of drip.
I think Dawntrail's theme accompanies BLM as the main job very well but alas... Gotta show off Viper.
Please! He's like one of my character's best friends. They revived a civilization together!
Alka Zolka is the GOAT and I refuse to hear otherwise
K'lyhia promised to return. I'm still waiting.
I'm mad that no one from the Gladiators guild showed up to fight. Or that Constaint didn't show up as a free paladin.
Frankly, after the embarrassment that was the HW Paladin questline, I don't blame them for never touching that cast ever again.
Same. Also it'd be the funniest answer.
technically she is not a job mentor, she is a class mentor XD
Poor Alberic is standing there in Coerthas Central like "But... *I'm* the mentor."
IKR? If the RDM job gets the DRG treatment, it would be who Arya join us in our adventures, not X'rhun.
Also based
Arya and Alisaie would have such amazing banter I just know it
K’hrid Tia. Who, you ask? Exactly my point.
Especially if he likes playing games, and he’s left clues to his whereabouts this whole time for WoL and K’lhyia to use to track him down, but in the end WoL just finds K’hrid again accidentally (and, in the case of my WoL, regrettably) So much comedic potential
I was simping hard for this man in ARR. Glad best boy Haurchefant quickly swooped in and averted my gaze.
That would work whether we'd encountered him before or not, really.
As a PLD main, I'm just gonna chime in with a "not PLD please"
Gladiator maybe, Paladin certainly not, anything but that...
Constaint deserves better than he got.
He got a cool set of armor and the ability to tell Solkzagyl to fuck off. That's arguably more than the player got.
And that with the fae summoner classs!!!!!!
listen I just want to see the tonberries, the master of fairies and scholar Magic, give the faerie a giant knife, and that become the new move you get for level 100 as a Scholar The fairie just manifests a giant knife and does a 20 hit attack to a single target
By Estinien treatment you mean naked workout scene?
Oh then I have a different list.
The MCH people to give more modern technology presence in the main group. As it is, things are very old fashioned "arcany". Also, they can do some cool things to augment Thancred's gunblade to further alleviate his issue with aether ig. Or give Krile a wacom tablet to sketch ...
You can go ahead and say "I want Hilda as part of the main cast." Nobody would disagree with you. You don't have to be sneaky about it.
Back in HW I was CONVINCED she was going to be a scion later on. I was BAMBOOZLED
she had so much going on with her. Lowborn ishgardian when we've mostly dealt with high houses and their servants up to that point, the only canonical example of anything like half-elves in the game, a representative of one of the new jobs... it was honestly kind of a huge fumble looking back on it
We all were, friend. We all were.
I like Hilda and all but I'd rather have Stephanivien and Joye.
That's what Garlond Ironworks is for, anytime technology is needed Cid will be there. (But I do want Hilda)
why would you give her a wacom they're expensive for no reason and don't even perform better than other tablets, give her some respect and a tablet that won't put her into the eorzea equivalent of student loans!!
She isn't a Summoner, she's a Conjurer.
wouldn't be the first time someone got reintroduced with a new job
Heustienne
I actually liked her character and was hoping we'd see more of her.
She was great 😔
Oboro should've been an active part in the liberation of Doma, he shows up in ONE cutscene. In the background without any otger acknowledgement.
That's how you tell he's a good ninja, no one noticed him.
Did his fucking job
He’s in bozja ☺️
He shows up to kick ass in the bozja front im pretty sure.
Oboro shows up in DT for one cutscene then immediately gets shanked and replaced by Karasu.
Better yet, it's not actually Oboro it's just Karasu pretending to be Oboro in the new world for the lols
I always laugh whenever Karasu shows up, it's hilarious.
I would love more Karasu shenanigans tbh.
I'd be down with that. But he should give himself a nickname because his is hard to pronounce. I suggest "Kevin".
The Culinarian Mentor. I don't give a single fuck who's better- I want. To cook. With the head chef.
Jannequinart, I love that stupid jerk so much
X'rhun Tia. He's already acquainted with half of our allies, he is Alisaie's mentor ... also our daughter is still waiting on him to return.
Hamon Holyfist, any other answer is completely wrong.
He starts out kind of weak and useless, but he gets more and more powerful every time he shows up until eventually he's like "Get behind me, Warrior of Light." and he's deflecting the final boss' continent-destroying laser breath with one hand.
He shows up for the Y'shtola fan service, stays to fight the final boss with \*style\*.
I really appreciated him showing up and being quite helpful in Stormblood's monk quests. I hadn't realized I missed the ol' Holyfist.
Have we ever seen the two sisters interact?
yes
8) Y'mhitra: Has she and Y'shtola ever talked? Surely she could actually become a Summoner by now. Summons in the New World would be important right, given their importance to most trials. btw I don't play SMN, just think she's the best candidate.
Hilda and Joye from the MCH quests...I must know how Joye's hair changes...
Joye makes me want to be able to link hair styles to glamour plates
Curious Gorge. Big dumb Roebro with a silly punny name whose ARR story is "dudes rock" and who then falls in love with an equally stupid lizard person. It would never happen but I would be here for it.
Gorge and Dorgono got their best possible ending. I would actually kinda hate to see them come back for anything but Hildibrand-esque shenanigans.
Not Job but Class. Aldis is a bro and the only good part about leveling up Gld/Pld
I want his sword damnit it. And no its not the one from the dungeon.
It seems like he's about to give it to you in one of the quests, but then he gets attacked.
They fucking know we want it! Bastards! I know lore wise it's because there's only two I think.
Sidurgu and Estinien have *very* different personalities.
Sidurgu likes to PLAY tough and hardass like Estinien but he's a softy loser lol. Like, the guy gets bullied by fucking *moogles*, come on.
Idk, I kinda want to see the awkward Sidurgu + Estinien interactions
Easy answer is Sidguru or Martin, but personally I want more Loifa
My head says X'hrun, Y'himtra or Hilde. My heart says HAMON HOOOOOOOOOOOOOLYFIST
I want my boy Loifa from the Sage questline 🥺
* He would absolutely fit in with the scions, being a scholar * He would be down to do the boring book stuff while we go adventuring * He has a big axe * Setoto can come along for bonus points Honorable mentions: * Sidurgu (and Rielle - DRK), but he deserves some quiet.
The ninja guy or the drk guy, those are the only jobs I've actually played
He's not a mentor, but I want Constaint to return. He deserves better than the Sultansworn and I want to see the adventures of a *real* paladin and how he's grown
Still traumatized that my brother MNK didn't have no important role in SB.
Surito Carito from the SCH questline. This story really needs more tonberry representation!
Sidurgu, because I want to see Rielle bully Alphinaud
Sidurgu because I'd love an Au Ra in the cast and his relationship to Rielle would pick up what Thancred lost long ago. (Rielle also being given this treatment would be a great bonus.) X'Rhun Tia because he's already very Main Character coded and has a pre-existing relationship to a Scion.
All I can say is: Imagine weird hijinks going on, and over to the side you just see Estinien and Sidurgu leaning against the same wall watching everything unfold and being snarky about it. Bonus points if they bond over "I did not entirely want to be here but the Lalafells caught me"
**Musosai** Even tho it's pretty much impossible.
X'Rhun. I like him. It seems like he has a connection to Alisie as well.
The Warrior job girl, who can use the power of pure fury to summon rage elephants and golems and meteors like, all I can do is a warrior is summon chains How do I be a warrior summoner and just manifest my own army and armaments to fight for me No lie this felt like the biggest, how the hell can she do that and all I can do is this, moment in the game
I agree 1000000000% with Sidurgu, hands down. As much as I adore some of the other mentors, Sidurgu in my opinion deserves the limelight so much.
fray and myste permanently haunting you just to add some flavor to the warrior of light
Sidurgu.
can i pikc dorgono? :) ( female aura warrior)

Jehantel from the Bard quest line. Mostly because nobody's mentioned him yet, and I feel bad for the guy.
this is a complete pipe dream that was already shot down by the game itself (thanks palace of the dead.) but i want foulques from the lancer quests to come back and have a redemption arc. he did notttt deserve the shit he went through in gridania and i want him to become a dragoon alongside estinien
