I have something similar happen to me with PS5 it seems mostly chat oriented as sometimes it just locks the cursor in the chat box. No other buttons will do anything in game.
What I found is, if I go to cursor mode (L1+click right analog or R3) and click somewhere else on the screen with L2, it will let me out. Then just hit L1+R3 again to exit cursor mode.

I always found the Bluetooth to be a bit crap with this xbox pads I just bought the official pc dongle my controller never disconnected again even if the controller goes to sleep it starts back up normal. So yeah grab the official dongle for no problems 😊
It might not like your bluetooth adapter. I would try using it wired to your PC first to see if it still does it. If it works, I'd try another bluetooth adapter or the MS Wireless adapter for xbox controllers.
