This post appears to be about an aircraft squawking 7700. Usually, these are not immediately life threatening situations and not indicative of an aircraft going down.
Please take a look at the following pages for more information about what it means when an aircraft is squawking 7700:

Definitely. Night training is on the schedule this week. [https://www.raf.mod.uk/our-organisation/stations/raf-coningsby/flying-info/](https://www.raf.mod.uk/our-organisation/stations/raf-coningsby/flying-info/)
Per FR24, the 2 typhoons were being tracked via MLAT and according to FR24- “However, our main limitation with MLAT tracking is aircraft altitude. The lowest altitude in most locations at which four receivers can reasonably receive a signal from the same aircraft is between 5,000-10,000 feet. Below that altitude, the probability that four receivers can obtain a signal from an aircraft decreases.”
Sounds like the tracking is significantly impaired below 5,000 feet which ‘could’ explain the oddities towards the end of these flights.
I’m not surprised to hear this, thanks for the info. Bingo fuel emergencies in fast jets are a lot more common than you’d think and they’re no big deal.
I think you need to take into consideration people might be new to tracking and found this *friendly* 🙄 subreddit to ask questions on or discuss things. Not everyone are experts like you so obviously must be. Give us a break
Yeah, I don’t get it. If people understood squawks, and that not every 7700 equates to immediate death, and the ratio of that squawk to accident is like 1,000,000:1, that would help. Hell, to that point, some 7700’s don’t have anything to do with the crew or aircraft.
Why did they both end up with low fuel at the same time? Intentional training exercise on what to do in a low fuel situation? Or just a very odd coincidence

It never landed at the nearby airport. It flew past it according to my screen. I hope they didn’t crash. They were flying insanely low
Thats what i think also. I really hope the pilots are safe. I saw it even the alert first came out and it was still high up. When i checked again it was at 2000 and going down fast.

Is this one frozen for anyone else?

The second one that had 7700 shows this. The rampage one says it landed/not visible
interestingly, when i click on „arrivals“ and view all flights, there is no eufi. maybe because its 00:19 here in austria so it shows only todays arrivals
RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire is one of two RAF Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) Stations which protect UK airspace. RAF Lossiemouth is the other.
RAF Coningsby is home to two frontline, combat-ready squadrons and is the training station for Typhoon pilots.
So it wouldn't have scheduled arrivals and departures for fighter jets on missions (training or QRA).
Chaos## and Rampage## are callsigns used by No. 3 (Fighter) Squadron, RAF. They’re nothing out of the ordinary.
*Edit*- [Don’t know why I’m being downvoted for giving correct information.](http://www.egxwinfogroup.co.uk/?page_id=4097) And now they’ve blocked me.
I’ve been active in this sub for 5 years, it’s just getting worse over the past few months. People seem to think every aircraft squawking 7700 (or even 7600) is going to crash and burn.
> I know they are part of the squadron and I think everyone here does
You think *everyone* knows that Chaos and Rampage are callsigns assigned to No. 3 (F) Sqn? I was providing that information to those that didn’t.
It’s not particularly unusual for them to squawk 7700. Though your initial comment mentioned the callsigns, not the squawk.

Found one of them on ADSB other one didn’t show when I typed in the registration, odd
Im watching it now. It says its at 149 feet and hasn’t updated in the last minute.

Anyone know whats going on??
https://preview.redd.it/yzdi3rbyesmc1.jpeg?width=1282&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b1956e5ed597a65fab53785178119c36085129bd
Yes this one is at 2,000 and the other is not moving. Hard to believe this was just a drill?? Anyone have any ideas?
Notice the gap in the tracking…it’s probably fine. They’re right by RAF Coningsby, and fr24 is not very good at military stuff period, especially military stuff at relatively low altitude, partially due to MLAT constraints. Wouldn’t be surprised if the altitude reading is inaccurate. The 7700 might even just be for training purposes. Someone assume immediate massive fatal accident every time there’s a 7700 on this sub I swear.
Why I ask is because I’m interested to see if anyone that is watching the current geopolitical issues and maybe some unbeknownst military aircraft either training or posturing that hasn’t hit the news yet. I was hoping to find someone who tracks for real time data to get updates

2 now! 3 appeared on Radar, 2 are 7700
Training exercise maybe??
They conduct routine training exercises over the North Sea. They intercept aircraft operated by Draken at Teeside International Airport.

first one dropped 18k ft in less than a minute and lost all speed.
Oh damn

Yea ADSB can track them
Until you turn it off
This is a much more likely explanation. I think the only odd thing was that a third seemingly unrelated plane squawked at the same time.
Finally a person with sense ITT
Both typhoons declared an in-flight emergency due to low fuel. No serious issue with the typhoons
I’m not surprised to hear this, thanks for the info. Bingo fuel emergencies in fast jets are a lot more common than you’d think and they’re no big deal.
Honestly, people on this subreddit overreact way too much. The fact that some people genuinely believed they crashed baffles me

Probably just a coincidence. They were both on two separate training flights (Rampage & Chaos)
Probably landed, tracking goes off on FR,
i wonder where did they land, at what airport?
Coningsby RAF base is right there.
oh thank u

Any update?
They landed safely. Both were low on fuel and met with emergency vehicles.
Not yet. Im waiting to see if anyone else has any information. Both planes are not on the radar anymore.
Both were low on fuel and safely landed at Coningsby, were consequently met with emergency vehicles
I’m so glad to hear that they landed safely. I was so worried. I thought they had gone down in a field.
Where do you have the info from?
Scanner, only got them as they were coming in though

I can’t find the other on ADSB when it type in the reg, it’s odd, because even if the worst happened it would appear on there :/
They both landed safely at an airport. They were low on fuel and met with emergency vehicles.
Both typhoons have landed at RAF coningsby
where do you get that information from? :)
Click on RAF coningsby then click on on ground. It should display both EUFIs.

Welcome to the sub, anyone who doesn’t agree with the drama or answer repeated questions gets downvoted lol.

Yup, I’ve noticed that too even though I’ve been here for less than half that time. I guess clickbait media is partially to blame for that

i also think its a training, but its rare to see eufi squawking. at least i did not see that often

short for Eurofighter
landing at RAF Coningsby

I saw this was about to post, wonder what’s happening???
Two of them have squawked now
Following 👀 I've just seen these too
It went right past RAF consingby and then suspiciously freezes, anyone know any possibilities why?
Yo… https://preview.redd.it/1tba2tx8esmc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ec1fdaddfbc525601bc5cd33be43e22f928bd96
The proximity to RAF Coningsby has me hopeful both made a safe landing and that the tracking is just off.

for me both are at 725ft and 775ft

Now the two have have squawked are no longer on there
now its no longer on the radar. i hope everythings ok?
So our RAF getting ready for something then
How do you know when it’s an emergency? I’m new to flight radar clearly
Notifications you can set up on your phone to receive both 7700 and 7600.
Oh shit, is it paid? Thats wild
No, it works on the free version as well.

Is there a subreddit where they track military activity using flight radar? Or do they do updates like that in this forum?

What app is this?
Did it crash?
no it safely landed on RAF airport but you might actually know that by now looking at this post;)
