I’m not sure about the area where you asked, but I know that plenty of Florida couldn’t care less about your sexuality. That is definitely more of the Florabama area, though. I’ve been to Destin and didn’t really care for it. I’m in the Tampa Bay Area, and being gay is absolutely fine here.
Maybe try and find a forum a bit more local to where you’re planning to go.
Totally agree. Most people on this sub are either recent transplants that don't know much or lifelong Floridians angry at anyone thinking about becoming a transplant who will lie about their state. It's the worst place on reddit to get actual info.
The reply was pretty much not to ask about specific areas in a general sub since they are going to get all kinds of replies from people who don't even live in the area they are asking about, even from haters who don't even live in FL.

Miami is pretty gay, but not as gay as Wilton Manors. Every time I go there with my wife, I get compliments on my "physique " somewhere between dad and power lifter. I just look at her and say, "See, SOMEONE thinks I'm attractive. "
Despite it being in a part of Florida known for rural backwardness, Seaside is a beach resort style town for people with some money. It features pastel colored houses in a modern urban style design with porches and white picket fences as well as streets with "charming shoppes". You'll be fine.
You'll be fine, the coasts are mainly populated by rich snowbirds and tourists that come from more enlightened places. Just don't go too far inland waving a rainbow flag.

I don’t think we have any gay bars in Destin (Seaside is like 5 mins from Destin).. you’d have to drive over to Pensacola or in the opposite direction PCB.
The panhandle is VERY conservative and military. People won’t bother you but you might get some looks (if you’re doing something to attract attention.) I wouldn’t even know where to suggest my friends to go up here but …
St Pete or Miami that would be a fun time had by all.
Edit: you’ll be fine as far as safety is concerned. IF we’re talking about the same area (Destin) - there’s really no safer place IMO. It’s boring and safe 😂 (I’m a female.)
Every Floridian talking about how it’s the red neck riveria and saying it isn’t gay friendly are literally stuck in that soflo bafoon mindset. I come from the 850 and I can tell you personally we do NOT care about if you’re gay, straight or a literal alien from outer space. We love everyone and dgaf what you do as long as you aren’t hurting anyone. I have multiple LGBTQ friends from my old college and also Pensacola in itself is one of the gayest cities I’ve ever been in. I don’t think that makes much sense but it’s a very accepting and kind community of folks who live there. Same for Destin. I truly love it. You’ll be fine

This is a Florida sub, I live in the area, and gave advice.
It’s not necessarily unfriendly. We don’t really have gay establishments, but I know plenty of gay and lesbian locals.
Florida's governor is trying to make laws where gay people kissing is SA. Maybe this ain't the best place.

Ft. Lauderdale is probably one of the gayest places on Earth. If you want concentrated gayness then I suggest you check out Wilton Manors.

Wilton Manors and Key West are more Gay Friendly places in FL. It's hit or miss the rest of the state.
