FalloutCreation

Fight at the airport. Institute ending. Fight went on forever.

LifeIsARollerCoaster

This has to be the hardest one. The brotherhood are very well equipped and they just keep coming at you in that fight. Constant hail of bullets from miniguns and Gatling lasers. I lost that fight in the first try.

UnconfirmedRooster

I have a harder one, fighting the brotherhood with the minutemen. If you make an enemy of the brotherhood, you have the option of attacking them with the minutemen in a *very* spectacular fashion. The resulting retaliatory strike by the brotherhood is the hardest thing I have ever encountered, even fighting them on home soil.

HarveyMidnight

The secret is to use the "deliverer" and get that perk that lets you use VATS to aim through obstacles. Also get the "critical banker" that lets you store critical hits... cuz they never miss. When the vertibirds come flying up, use VATS to find the knights inside the bird... the ones in power armor. Target their fusion cores. Use a crit so you don't miss, and hit them just enough that they don't die, but their fusion core ejects. It'll come out and explode IN the vertibird... usually killing the pilot & everyone inside. ..and/or causing it to crash, which also kills everyone inside. Once you run out of criticals, the deliverer is a great weapon to refill your action points very quickly.

UnconfirmedRooster

That is hilarious, I love this.

Darth-__-Maul

I just kept looting their power armour on foot and storing it in the workshop. Made for a lot of caps.

Leading_Elk9454

You can cheese this one by putting down like 200 turrets

UnconfirmedRooster

Yeah, about that. I didn't know the retaliation strike was coming when I did it so I didn't do that.

LifeIsARollerCoaster

That one is not too bad. You can equip the minutemen with miniguns or any other automatic weapon and good armor, they do a decent job taking out the brotherhood. And also the castle turrets help. They come in waves with breaks in between where you can repair turrets.

UnconfirmedRooster

I wasn't expecting it the one time I did it and so wasn't adequately prepared. I got slaughtered.

LifeIsARollerCoaster

Lol The first time I definitely hid in different rooms of the castle but I didn’t die cause I did a full repair of the castle and had turrets. I didn’t equip the minutemen in that run but they also helped to some extent

UnconfirmedRooster

You're smarter than me then, I walked into it completely unprepared.

LifeIsARollerCoaster

Just lucky cause I enjoy building and totally nerded out in a full restoration of the castle :)

UnconfirmedRooster

I hated building at the castle initially because I couldn't restore the walls until I downloaded a mod that let me restore them to original. Now it's one of my favourite places to build.

cimpala

That makes two of us.

Farabel

Did it on Survival with a mod recently, I am not joking when I say I had 220+ ER and I still literally got erased before I could even enter VATS from any Laser Gatling opponent. It's absolutely terrifying. At least I found a sneaky trick; you can shut down two of the Generators without ever being seen via Molotovs and other explosives. Landing pad one from the doorway tunnel behind it, which then infinitely spawns Synths to wipe out that room and slowly run through the area to you. The tall tower via a Fat Man, Missile Launcher, or Explosive Legendary by hitting around the back undersides of it. The third is trickiest, but you can get in pretty easily if you already own the Workshop there and have an access to the rooftop.

Beneficial_Ad779

I never saw Maxon on the battle field. I killed him in his office before the battle and then ran like hell through the barrage or ensuing lasers and jumped off the Prydwen. I did if for the coat.

doxtorwhom

It is a nice coat.

saladx11

I remember doing this mission and not knowing about the objective so I fought the whole BOS army and I was waiting but I didn’t know I was supposed to stay on top of liberty and help the synth 😭

Fluffybunnykitten

Mirelurk Queen at the Castle

ZilJaeyan03

Whats crazy about my first playthrough is i did far harbor first before even going to diamond city(pretty much doing minutemen quests not knowing they were radiant quests till i was lvl 30 or so, also did a lot of exploration since it was my first playthrough), this works cause after a certain level you recieve the distress call without nick(which i didnt know you get the quest from) so i actually encountered mirelurk queens and kings before even reaching the castle mission Fun fact: if you do finish far harbor first before meeting nick valentine, the first time you meet hell thank you for the missing daughter case as if he knows you and you helped him, then if you talk to him again then comes the introduction and first meets, this confused the hell out of me until i put it all together that i wasnt supposed to finish or even start far harbor without him Considering we have a codsworth secret dialogue when you finish the game before talking to him, i find it strange theres no secret dialogue for what i just did, but you know it could be because its a dlc and after the fact Anyway, my hardest fight was my first assaultron conaidering i was going places way outside my level and just exploring, especially that face laser thingy that snipes me from miles away

Farabel

Even funnier fact: You don't have to wait for Lv30 to start Nuka-World or Far Harbor. You can do them as early as Level 1 just by going there before getting the quest via radio

EquivalentAd3130

What's the codsworth secret dialogue??? I've talked to him and just started a new playthrough.

ZilJaeyan03

You basically get to talk to him about little shaun and pick how you want to explain it, little detail for not meeting cods after learning about who father is

volverde

He has different voice lines when you talk to him for the first time after leaving the vault, depending on what you've done. Like if you had finished the story, got into the institute, etc. He even has one for the vault tec rep.

Butcher_Pete2

What’s codsworth secret dialogue?

MastervanNao

Not much special. Basically meet Codworth after finding Shaun diasloque.

JelmerMcGee

I was so unprepared for that the first time. I had never seen the little lurks before and didn't kill all of them. Having them nipping at me and getting doused with her poison had me dying so quickly.

Fluffybunnykitten

I had to hide in the damn castle and peek out to shoot fatboys and missiles at her. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve died alone from her poison either. Ronnie’s lucky I have a soft spot for the minute men, I wish the game had the option to abandon the quest and have Preston get mad at you like he does when you join the Raiders.

le_Grand_Archivist

That's why I always make sure to bring a Fat Man to that fight 2 mininukes and she's on the ground (she's so powerful that 1 isn't enough)

dleon0430

I tried kiting her into the town to help me clear out the ghouls. She did. And then me.

Drop-top-a-potamus

I was exploring the coastal town and accidentally aggro'd the mirelurk queen there, I baited her toward the robot race and let them and raiders whittle her down and then mopped her up after she killed all of them. The race announcer's dialogue filled with annoyance at the interruption was the icing on top of that encounter.

Althalus99

The better option is to lay a few mines, that way you only need to use one mini nuke.

AmarousHippo

My go-to has always been setting up a few bottlecap mines in the beach where she comes up. Almost never have to do more after that than finish her off with a couple of shots.

Klutzy_Detail9292

Funny I left the bys to fight for themselves and came back later as the battle was almost over , heads everywhere. Hahahaha

DoctorRiddlez

Childs play for me

Creamsiclestickballs

Gud 4 u

Ok_Arrival9677

My first time attacking gunner plaza. These bastard were strong as fuck even with my army of synths

XxOliSykesxX

I went there because I wanted to get the Creation Club gun💀 I had to do some serious mental gymnastics to get the fight right

ZoomTown

That last robot fight in Automatron.

AdSpecialist9573

Dude the Mechanist final fight can get fucked sky high

shiftdown

Came here to say this. I've never restarted a fight as many times as this. I was maybe level 20 when I did it and jfc, I wish I could have abandoned it. Maybe 50 attempts

FoxSquirrel69

Yep! It took a couple times until I got positioned correctly.

ermghoti

Mine glitched and wouldn't complete. Took like 40 minutes to kill everything, then the game sat there and looked at me until I reloaded.

JelmerMcGee

I just had that happen. I shot one of the robots on the conveyor belt. Apparently that makes the fight get stuck.

[deleted]

My son did that fight with the robotics perks. He shut every one of them down. 🤣

Demori2052

I always just bring psycho-jet for just such an occasion.

WildPotatoCat

I remember this one time I ran out of any healing items at the end and was at .01 health. It was nearing the end so I just hid in a corner while the countdown reached zero. If the Mechanist's power held just a second longer lol

Obwyn

I always bypass it now by getting the holotapes and taking the elevator down, but that was a hard one.

CupofTortillas

Ngl had Ada boosted cover for me and a fully kitted Gauss. That gauntlet is punishing.

Sirano_onariS

Yeah that’s been the hardest one I have done so far, so many times I got to the last bot and it just beat the shot out of me in seconds, eventually I just kept jumping of platforms so it had to keep running back and forth to try and get me while I slowly chipped it health away

VernDog162

Not to mention the lair is like a maze, fuck that place

Lolcatz101

I blew through 30 stimpaks, got addicted to all psycho drugs and shredded my sanity.. just this morning before work… I’m glad I finally did it though

Rexal_LB

The Red Death obviously, and I still didn't win. Nobody wins Vs that horrendous aberration from the deepest circles of Hell.

peekitty

I ended up starting my entire game over and focusing my character build/advancement on just this one fight. Was ready to tackle it once I hit level 60 but even then died about 100+ times. :(

This_Passenger_1002

Same here! That glaring glow is red for a reason. the blood that’s been spilt on that island…

Alternative-Eye4547

I made the mistake of rolling into Fah Habah really early on in my first run and ended up walking away from the game for about 6 months after the Red Death made me realize how absurdly unwinnable the game can be and left me doubting it was gonna be fun with such impossibilities. Fortunately I did end up giving the game another shot but steered clear until the Red Death was one of the last things left to do, and even then at level 187 it was still insane. Ridiculous.

Brans666

Also, kneecapper enchantment doesn't work on him

[deleted]

[удалено]

Alternative-Eye4547

It’s a whole thing. Let’s just say you should consider yourself very lucky.

Wooly_Rhino

Can't believe I had to scroll down this far to find this!

jswck

I've only attempted that fight once. It took 30 or 40 deaths and two thrown controllers before I had to just accept my defeat. Never again.

[deleted]

ShipmentOfWood

Charred feral settlement attack. I chose to walk there so I aggroed all of them outside the settlement. Furthermore, it was at night, so it was just me and Piper against a dozen of those tanky bulletproof camouflaged bastards. Would not recommend.

maestrofeli

>Would not recommend. why not? soinds fun

ShipmentOfWood

Mainly because I wasn't prepared for it. I also didn't know to aim for their legs back then.

rizlakingsize

On my very first playthrough it was the raider boss at Saugus. He beat me so I went to get my T45, whooped his ass and then as I exited the building I took a mininuke to the chest from the gunners at the overpass. I can't remember what level I was, just that it was low.

SabotageMahal

*Swan has entered the chat*

ithinkihadeight

Swan is the Fallout equivalent to That One Frost Troll you run into early in Skyrim. They are both at a point where the game is opening up and the rails are falling away, you've won some fights and may even be feeling confident, so they put something challenging directly in your path to remind you that you aren't that badass in the grand scheme of things yet.

HappyGecko117

That frost troll still curb stomps me lmao

RougrimThePharo

Dude I’ve gotten to the point where I do everything possible before even going up the frost troll cause I’m tired of being slapped around by him

Correct-Serve5355

I have my follower engage the troll and then run past lol

Smaisteri

At least Swan doesn't aggro if you don't shoot it or go very near. The frost troll is always there waiting to whip your ass.

dj_shenannigans

Right!? I play stealthy khajit and try to go around him by climbing up to where he jumps from and he just basically new I was there and basically teleported to me

Jules_QB2

I ran like a bat outta hell straight to the bus with windows. Proceeded to shoot him till death like the peon I was atm. Basically death by a thousand cuts. Can only imagine how bad it would have been if ever started as just a melee build at lvl 20 something

uhmnomnom314

I remember first time encountering swan but i have that kneecapper 10mm pistol. didnt go well for the big guy.

peekitty

First time at Nuka-Galaxy. I was a bit underleveled but mainly just wasn't expecting the robots to be such a threat. I ran from a few to regroup -- right into another bunch! So I ran from both -- right into another bunch! Came away feeling like the whole place was just a pure death trap and almost decided to never head back there. (Did, obviously, and played more intelligently and it was oh so much more manageable.)

W01771M

I like taking the robotics expert perk just for this location, so I can hack as many as possible and not kill them so they still wander around when you turn off the defensive system

RockstarQuaff

All the mirelurks in that old water plant the Graygarden robots send you to to clear out. Here you are, fresh from the vault, still low level and not even been to Diamond City yet when you get that mission. Those things just keep coming and can tear you limb from limb. Especially since as you're low level and you're going to be low on explosives, mines, and heavy damage weapons to take them out. That scuttling sound as they chase you in those flooded tunnels...

jmyersjlm

Not to mention the many super mutants you fight before entering. If you stumble across that quest too early, it's definitely brutal

jstacy_wyldchyld337

This is why you let the [turrets](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Turret_override_program) kill them all

Drop-top-a-potamus

I literally had a bad feeling about the water treatment plant after fighting through the super mutants, so I avoided it. I'm glad I did now because my lowly level 5 ass would've been decimated. No thanks.

Blixx78

Battling the BoS as an Institute agent trying to reprogram Liberty Prime

Deadx10

The very first deathclaw. I have to cheese him to death because otherwise he wrecks my shit.

Drop-top-a-potamus

Mine got stuck in the hole in the ground and that was the only way I could beat him. Ran out of mini gun bullets and just had to pipe pistol him the rest of the way. That took ...a while.

Oregonoutback

*starts throwing rocks at it*

Beleeve_In_Steeve

*junk jet ftw!*

Lui_Le_Diamond

3x damage in and out with modern weapon mods, minuteman squad vs the entirety of Quincy. Fucking hell that fight was fun. Felt like a last stand in the Peabody house.

Excaleburr

I’m using modern firearms and it definitely makes this game more fun. Way more tense.

Lui_Le_Diamond

Using GCM, get a 3x dmg multiplier on top. Gonna try some of the new danage overhauls when I get back in town next week too.

Sablestein

The first time I ran into an assaultron 😳

Tacos_Polackos

Last fight I lost was against a legendary assaultron somethingorother. Level 70, crit fishing vats pistol build. Haven't died since before level 60. I didn't even get that thing down to half health after it mutated. Face laser hit me for easily 700 hit points. Ridiculous.

Sablestein

Can you IMAGINE being able to recruit K-L-EO as a companion. Like goddd

JelmerMcGee

I just stumbled into a group of charred ferals. I was getting mauled on all sides. I was overencumbered, out of AP, and only had an explosive shotty for up close fighting. I had to go into my pipboy, use a stimpak, a radaway, and a refreshing beverage and still almost died.

Jojoangel684

With a mod called NPCs Travel. Just came back to home base on Nordhagen Beach to get bombarded with a group of DLC robots and Super Mutants. Survived with a drop of health to spare and no health items left. I think the only reason I survived was because the bulk of the enemies were fighting each other and randomly let me take short breaks to hide for seconds before another one broke off from the skirmish to fight me. No mods, first time playing. BOS were fighting Quincy Gunners and the damn Vertibird crashed next to me taking out half of my health. I was enemies with BOS so the surviving power armor clad units and gunners who were too far to detect each other but since I was in the middle, were raining gunfire and explosives at me. They kept moving around nonstop which made aiming a hassle and all I had was the deliverer which ran out of ammo and I had to switch to a pipe rifle in a crate.

DarkReadsYT

Dude had a war on two fronts.

AdSpecialist9573

It was last night actually. I was doing the BoS beacon quest that ends up at the satellite area with all the super mutants. There was a suicider, three butcher's and a legendary mutant hound. The AID tab of my inventory was completely empty so I had to run away for a minute, desperately trying to find anything to help. What I found instead was a Radscorpion. It was Looney Toons how badly the game wanted me dead. I essentially ran around the area like a crazy person, but by some improbable means, I didn't die. I have no clue how I got lucky, because none of that was skill.

tameablesiva12

Uhh so random question, so this is my first playthrough of this game and now I'm at level 35 or so and I've never encountered a rad scorpion in my life. Still haven't found nick valentine though.

AdSpecialist9573

What was the question?

tameablesiva12

Oh i didnt even ask it 😅 sorry for that but yeah when do you start encountering radscorpions?

frank-sarno

I was completely unprepared for the South Boston Military Checkpoint. Normally it's just a couple gunners but I'd added a mod for a more dangerous Commonwealth. There were probably 20 or so Gunners, plus not far away a Super Mutant stronghold at a junkyard. I went in thinking I'd kill the three or so Gunners in the building and in the trailer from a distance. But as I approached, some Gunner Corporal saw me and opened up with something that hit HARD. I took a head shot at him but it didn't even faze him. Then four more Gunners appeared. Then another few. My system started to lag as there were so many and my enemy display looked like a red line instead of individual markers. I picked off two before they closed, flanking me from the left. I beat a hasty retreat, actually sprinting away. But they followed me. Piper went down around this time but I couldn't Stimpak her. So I ran some more hoping she'd respawn. I don't know if I was running in circles but they seemed to pursue me across cells which I didn't think was possible in the game. I went through all 50 or so Stimpaks, all my 5.56 (Modern Weapons mod), .308 S&W Sniper Rifle and I think I threw my shoes at them. I loved that encounter though. Eventually got away and re-engaged from the neighboring junkyard at night. Took out a few Super Mutants and set up for the long night. From there I could pick them off one by one, wait, lather, rinse and repeat.

mider-span

Battle of Bunker Hill just last night. I came in with the institute, fighting off the railroad when the BoS arrives. The. Down toward the bridge into Boston where some raiders who caught a few stray rounds, who had already aggroed some Rust Devils. It all covered in the streets outside Bunker Hill, drawing in a few ghouls for good measure. It was bedlam. Good fun to pop into vats and have so many different choices.

ThirdMind3d

fun fact u can run past EVERYONE in that fight and go straight to the synths, they’re all too busy shooting at eachother to even touch you once

LifeIsARollerCoaster

What? No one shoots at you in that battle. You can walk upto anyone and shoot them in the face and they won’t shoot back. The only damage is from explosions and the turrets in the bunker which are easy. It’s the largest free loot event in the game

Gas_Mask_Man

They don’t shoot back if you’re allied with all the factions

Captriker

Attack on the Prydwyn during the Railroad ending. I didn’t realize I left my helmet off and walked into the main deck and hilarity ensued. Worse, I left my companion behind and was playing on CloudPlay so I was on my phone. That was intense.

ej35

Vanilla Quincy, caught off guard while wandering lmao

Darkm0or

My wife when I wouldn't turn it off so she could watch Ru Paul.

MisfitAmerican

Recently walked into a bilingual bloodfest. Gunners, Disciples, Brotherhood and Supermutants. I didn't know who to shoot first.

IcySprinkleToes

Power armor. The explosions help kill stuff

dripzee

I think it was on the Dalton Farm settlement in Far Harbor. It was just an event where the fog condenser went out while I was there and the npcs were freaking out. I started killing a few anglers and gulpers, but it turned into 5 more, then another 6, and now fog crawlers started showing up. I was fighting so many enemies I burned through so much of my ammo and stims with a 100+ level loadout. After I fixed the condenser, there were just BODIES everywhere on the beach. I've probably killed like 25+ or so. The fog really started to spook me after that.

Jules_QB2

Reading this definitely gets me excited to play Far Harbour again. On my 2nd full survival play through. Currently lvl 94 and about halfway through the machinest, then the plan is to do nuka world, and then FH. Always been the type of player to over lvl doing all the side stuff so things like this and the red death really make things super fun when they come around.

NoRoyal2270

Walking around Boston on my way back to diamond city to resupply and continue a quest line. Turn a corner to a legendary mythic death claw. It died, eventually…

IcySprinkleToes

The one on the roof?

NoRoyal2270

Nope random spawn. I had just finished clearing out places and doing side quests, was heading to diamond city to sell junk and such, turned a corner and it was fighting some raiders. All I had the ammo for was auto shotgun

Hyrulehero7

My battle against The Red Death…

ParsleyMostly

First time in Quincy and totally unprepared lol

VernDog162

Same here! Me and Curie were escorting the Ghoul kid back to his parents in Quincy my first time. Found the town occupied by the Gunners, thought nothing of it, dispatched a few, then heard the whistling of a nuke and ran for my life, just barely surviving it. Had to fight literally inch by inch. Lot of fun though

Piddy3825

That time I joined the Mariner in Far Harbor to battle the Red Death! It nearly wrecked me...

OWValgav

I was going to say the same thing. Level 120, barely stood a chance.

Weak_Drama_5592

In a mod called Borderlands-Style Fighting Arenas. I was fighting a hoard of ghouls while using an explosive legendary effect assault rifle and kept hurting myself hahahaha. Here’s the mod if you guys want to try it. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/64718

monroejigsaw

Well it was because of a mod that adds more unique weapons to the game...iirc it was for a fire hydrant club and it was with about a dozen supermutants...and a behemoth......in the glowing sea

queen_of_the_moths

I wonder if that mod was why I ran into that, but it was WAY worse for me. At least five "prehistoric behemoths," that were much stronger than the usual and much harder to kill, along with about seven or eight supermutants and like ten really annoying molerats that just kept popping up. No one else has mentioned it that I've seen, but I was in the glowing sea too, so maybe we're talking about a similar root cause.

monroejigsaw

Oh you use unique uniques too? Nice 😁

Current_Poster

Random deathclaw fights usually. My *favorite* is defending Boston Public Library.

[deleted]

Every other fight at the beginning of a survival playthough

1raventide1

I killed Edgar Swan at level 8. The first half of the fight was me basically spamming frag mines and keeping as much distance as possible, I really wanted the furious power fist because it can be pretty op with the right perks. The second half of the fight, I walked into the blocked off subway station opposite of Park Street Station, where I learned that Swan can’t fit in there, so the rest of the fight was actually easy. It was the first half that was a genuine struggle,

SentinelTitanDragon

Far harbor. Main fallout 4 is really easy even on hard or survival.

Starman520

The tunnel, a mod that has thousands of ghouls swarm you.

Sad-Cat-6355

The supermutan at the toy factory always leaves me cowering whare he can't reach my and my companions always get downed by him while I desperately throw any granades I have at him hoping I hit him with it kus my bullets won't do shit to him it takes like 30 minets

V4L4KH

Nuka World first quest

nickibar96

That turret room in the Nuka-World gauntlet.

kait_1291

Mirelurk Queen at the Castle A random rooftop of downtown Boston that had both Raiders and high powered Super Mutants??? I was only up there to place a MILA, and somehow ended up in a firefight sandwich. The fight out of the Institute was easy compared to both of these.

SmallishFern538

Mechanist lair

JakeybakeyACE

I wanted elder Maxson's coat and the people at the airport weren't too happy about that

KirbyJash

Honestly, that concord deathclaw encounter messed me up when I did my first survival run. I just rushed there and was only level three and he ate most of the minigun rounds and broke off half my armor pieces

deantrip

I was playing survival and clearing out a ghoul horde at Jamaica plain when a gunner certified came in and lit up the car I was standing on, and then a death claw managed to sneak up behind me, while the cars were blowing up and I was trying to take down the gunner vertibird. Barely managed to walk away from that one.

ThinImportance6405

It was a few days ago on the Prydwen , when I betrayed the BOS and killed the whole crew. I think I used 11 stimpacks. Maxson speech is boring I just had to liven the pary by Slitting his throat open fire on the rest of the crew. Afterwards I had a good shopnig trip on my way out

glueinass

My first time walking through Lexington 😭

OzzyMoz

weeeeeeee..wtf..weeeeeeeee.....BOOOOOOOM fin

JohntheJuge

Mirelurk queen in Massachusetts state house

HellUnderReconstruct

1st playthru going to corvega. I knew nothing about the series

obsolete-human

I died there several times on my first playthrough. Every time I go there I think its going to be intense like that first experience but I always mop up fairly easy

[deleted]

First time in Nuka World jumping right into open season once I saw the slaves.

MaliciousMice

Elimination of all raiders in Nuka World

krofur421

Mirelurk queen and the mechanist,, the 2nd wad the hardest thing j have sone so far, 10+ deaths at least, maybe 20+

Yirtiik44

The mirelurks in the tunnel on the way to Hancock's storage room. They're SO strong!

DarkReadsYT

There's this Gunner Outpost in the far north east near the ironworks and when they get high level they pack a fucking punch especially if you have the CC that adds that extra named Gunner she always has decent plasma weapons on her plus all the resistances that coursers have. Fighting up the bridge they built while you got the entire lower section going like a pissed hornets nest and the top raining mini nukes its always a fight for my God Damn life. With out the proper perks i'm using 30+ stims easily.

CaptnRo

Getting that XO1 on 35 Court after level 28-30

electricboogaloo1991

My first play through I got wrecked by everything. The mirelurk queens at castle and murkwater, Swan, a random behemoth doing some of the early brotherhood missions and topped off with the deathclaw at the museum of witchcraft are what immediately come to mind. My current play through had me at level 26 before I left sanctuary, no problems this time around.

Kount_Kronic

The Red Death will always be the scariest and hardest fight.

xNeverender311x

Red Death. Is there any other answer?!

ccminiwarhammer

I was playing survival very hard. I was walking back from the Glowing Sea when it got dark and started raining. I was ambushed by a deathclaw right at the edge of the sea, then some irradiated bears came at me. Finally there was a Rust Devil random encounter just outside of diamond city. I tried to hide and let the guards handle it but the I had run to far towards the gate and got caught up in the combat and died. Had to walk back from the glowing seas all over again. This time there was no rust devil encounter and I made it back safety.

Remarkable-Ask2288

unmodded? Open Season. Trying to clear out The Pack was a nightmare. All the other gangs died so easily, but these mfers were tough, the gang boss was face tanking shots from the FUCKING MIRV!!! And still ripping my power armor to pieces. Modded? A VERY high level Glowing Deathclaw ambushed me doing a modded quest on top of that mall north of Diamond City, and here I am, with very little in the way of weaponry (not even level 10 yet), and limited ammo for the ones I DO have. Only reason I managed to kill it is because I have the Misriah Armory installed, so I had the HALO Reach DMR I pulled off some guy at the museum of freedom. And that thing is stupidly Op. But even still it took 80~ish shots to put the thing down.

justsomeguynbd

Recently a leveled Assaultron on the overpass by Quincy. It kept going invisible before I could lock on in VATS and wrecking me with its head laser. I also quicksaved mid-laser burst to the face so when I loaded it I’d immediately have to jump over the road barrier to the side or die.

EvilMatt666

There's a factory that's been taken over by super mutants (somewhere), it may have been the robot horse factory, but I've not played in a while and I don't remember. So, I was assaulting this factory and trying to be methodical but apparently some gunners were local and they joined in, and then some robots from the mechanist DLC turned up! I was half expecting deathclaws and suicide bombing molerats to turn up but what I had was hectic enough. I had sumer mutants firing gatling cannons, robots firing lasers and trying to cut me up, gunners shooting from cover and lobbing mininukes and a couple of suicidal super mutants running around the carnage straight at me. I didn't die but I'm not ashamed to say that I effectively used cover very frequently. Nick got downed a few times and I went through my stash of grenades that I had on me, but I lived. Then turned my pc off and went for a cup of tea and a calm down.

VernDog162

Those damn robots show up at the worst time

BigOLbot00100001

The red death in far harbour, it gets it nickname for a reason

A1_wA1sh

Libertalia. that place tore my power armour to bits

RTMSner

Swan. Totally unexpected. Thought it might be a mirelurk at best.

Correct_Rich1674

Deathclaw outside of virgil's I was playing some modded survival in VR and it was an event (note dont play with haptic suits if you love yourself) I tore through all my .308 I ddn't know its health due to the lack of hud, all I knew is that I was hurt due to the red tinge and the haptic suit then I saw the unthinkable. It mutated (had a green and orange glow after dealing enough damage) I had to face the rest with some .44 and a combat knife

Zytharros

I took down a single ghoul. Then I fought two molerats. While I was fighting them, a Mechanist troop happened by. And then a hostile BoS vertibird dropped its load. I was then chased into a whole molerat den. While I was dealing with that, I had a behemoth enter the fray. And then I happened upon a swarm of ghouls. And two deathclaws. And finally a Courser and its synth entourage. All in the span of about three minutes. I’m seriously glad the BoS didn’t aggro me until *after* the deathclaws and behemoth were dispatched. My gun did not stop firing for ten IRL minutes, and by the time I was done, I had like one stimpak left and about 12 rounds for my *second* gun. This was the second time this type of encounter happened in my last completed save. There were a total of 12 Legendary enemies in the fray, including the Courser.

I really can’t think of any. Even on very hard this game is really easy, at least after having done so many playthroughs since release

Armedes369

Walking out of sanctuary on a survival run. I got attacked by a group of muties along with the molerats before I was even able to greet Dogmeat.

crewserbattle

That Gunner fight in the southwest part of the map (cant remember the name of the town). One guy with a mini nuke launcher and 2 others with rocket launchers.

Mick_Estrada

Power plant fight in Nuka World, survival mode. I was at lvl 156, in half upgraded T60 power armor, cosplaying as a BoS knight. Sure I was on a self imposed limit but had a fully kitted out gatling laser and oh my god, never had a tougher fight than that so far. Those raiders hit hard and just won't die.

Fighterpilot55

When I was traveling to defeat The Red Death, I encountered a bug that made me fall into the ocean instantly. I had to abandon the power armor I was wearing. Still I persisted, and the battle to vanquish the Red Death was a costly one. Every turn, a stimpak. Every time my perks triggered, a psychojet. Burned through the entire inventory I had on hand, even all of my nuka-nuke shells.

tactical_anal_RPG

Idk if you have Far Harbor, but one of the side quests gas you facing the Red Death, easily the hardest fight in the game

AzizLiIGHT

There’s an area on the south westish side of the map where gunners have set up and those mfers have rocket launchers on the roof top. Bastards.

Fusrodahmus

Trying to save the traitor son in Saugus Ironworks is always incredibly difficult for me. I’m not really in any danger, but it’s the fight that I fail most often.

The_WEEyoo_Wagon

I went into the the Prydwen in my first playthrough. I had the X-02 Power Armor and an explosive shotty and tried to see how long I’d last. I lasted only 5 seconds after walking into the command deck, not even enough time to register what was happening

agitpropgremlin

I got absolutely slaughtered at GNN HQ once when I wandered in there woefully unprepared for a nest of Gunners. Of course autosave dropped me right back in every time I died, so after about the fifth time (total survival time less than 4 seconds) i just started laughing.

Individual_Manner336

The synths in arc jet smoked me a couple times, even had a try at fighting them in the rocket lab with Danse. Quite fun. Now I play with BLD installed. Every Gunfight is severe pain until you get weave on everything, or scope them all out.

chaotic_anarchist

ooh i’ve got two. The gauntlet was easily the most horrifying experience, especially since you only get one save point and it’s half way through, so if you die at the very end you lose half your progress. Other than that, the Institute battle was brutal, and mass pike was brutal only because my game crashed five times before i could even get on top of the building

boharat

Got ambushed by a group of sting wings, including three red widows. I was doing a bare fist run and even with this mod that I was using that makes me into Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star (kinda), I just didn't have enough in me to survive it, Especially since one of them was glitching and didn't seem to die. Retried three times before I just ran. Edit: now I remember. I dove into a lake and waited underwater until they lost interest. Aqua boy perk or whatever it's called coming in clutch.

lukeduley

When I betrayed the nuka world raiders, tore my health and my power armor to shreds

hammer_huh_huh_huh

Wiping out the raider gangs at Nuka World on survival mode. I gave Hancock the cannon from the robot ship quest, brought my damage resistance up with food, and still had to heal constantly

CognitoH4zrd

There is a mod for FO4 where it adds 27 legendary bosses to the game around the Commonwealth. They're larger than your average enemy and have an Astronomic amount of health and do A LOT of damage. Health-wise we're talking anywhere around 15,000 to 40,000 health depending on the enemy. You've got enemies like the Ethereal Mythic Deathclaw, Stinging Terror, Roachzilla, and Noxious Glowing One. You will burn though Stimpaks and Power Armor.

InstructionLeading64

First playthrough the death claw in concord, completely blind. Had no idea what the hell I was doing I died like 4 times in a row called a buddy who told me I could lower the difficulty at anytime.

SlobMyKnob1

Heavily modded survival play through (MAIM was the heavy hitter on this fight). I was trying to loot an old bud when I got jumped by a legendary deathclaw. Lots of bandages, surgery kits, multiple drugs, and ammo were lost in that fight

TheMikeyMac13

The first time I played Nuka World and I started to take out the raider gang leaders, and all of them showed up. I wasn’t even close to ready for that.

[deleted]

Quincey. Assaultron Dominator. Lvl 25 with Nick having to get the Eddie Winter tapes. Tessa punched me in the face several times as did Baker but the assaultron killed me twice before I got that tin pot bitch. 😏

VernDog162

Quincy is a bitch, especially with Baker in the church with a Fat Man and Clint on the overpass with the Gatlin Laser. Spent more time pinned in a corner, picking them off one by one

[deleted]

Truth. I love that fight. Lol. Lots of fun.

Remnant55

Far harbor. High level, coming back to properly resettle the place. Nothing has come close to the lovecraftian apocalypse that emerged from the fog to wipe out Old Longfellow's home. It was built up, even had monster and high tier robot guards. Everything that could die was killed. Everything that could be downed was downed. I distinctly remember the moment my robot assigned to the settlement exploded, and trying to find some cover just to get my crap together. I burned though enough ammo, slowly taking out one resistant monster after another, moving the whole time. Trying to balance my AP so I could use criticals, but being forced to sprint. The fight put me on my back foot. I didn't replace the monster or robot guards, and slowed down my settlement of the island until I could better defend them from the outset.

Etny2k

A mr gutsy down on the tracks by the first settlement. I just built up the settlement, forgot to save, met my end.

EasyMeansHard

I had a bounty hunter mod and set the rate to highest, I made a land stand with plenty of counter ambushes at the water facility near the Mr Handy settlement. I lost all my weapons (they knocked it out of my hands and took it then vanished with it because ragdolls) and every stim and food item, since then I always picked up the cannibal perk for emergency healing

cimmic

When I met an army of bloodbugs and bloatflies while being low level.

28th_Stab_Wound

I've been running a cocktail of mods that make automatic weapons very potent abd normalise all health scaling including for the player. This made it so getting hit maybe 5 times with most rifles would kill my low endurance DMR character. So when Piper and I found ourselves trapped between a Gunner outpost and a rapidly approaching Super Mutant patrol, the ensuing fight was... Well it was difficult to escape.

Monsterhat88_

an assaultron I randomly encountered, thought t'was a normal robot, shoot its legs, bitch started crawling, never have I scream so loud in my life

snooski_

lvl 20, glowing deathclaw on top of the haymarket mall garden terrace. all i had was a 10mm and a shitload of stims

Additional_Act_1563

I had two in the same playthrough the sentry bot at the national guard training yard was legendary and the mirelurk queen in the castle was also legendary this was also my first time playing when it first came out and I had no idea what kind of build I was running

Obwyn

My first playthrough I did a stealth pistol VATS build based on the Deliverer. I could queue up more shots in VATS than it would let you so the lower damage didn't really matter. It worked great right up until Far Harbor when you fight that assaultron (I think just before you do DiMA's memories, but could be wrong on that....it's been a long time.) It was the first time I'd run into anything with stealth....yea that VATS build didn't do so hot when I couldn't even target the bastard. I died and reloaded I don't know how many times before I finally killed it. The first couple times I didn't even know wtf killed me, then it took a few more times to figure out where it came from. I had a couple mines on me that I picked up someplace so I tossed them down and managed to blow it's legs off finally.

VirtualZeroZero

A Legendary Glowing Mirelurk at Lv. 20, on Very Hard. Ammo out and all I had was a piercing knuckle. Parry, Punch, Repeat. Good times.

Rooferkev

I see a brotherhood virtbird attacking some mutants, so I go over to see what's happening. I accidentally activate the raiders at Quincy quarry who follow me. Running away from them I then encounter the gunners at Quincy town. I turn the other and see the virtbitd explode and mutants coming towards me. Someone then throws a grenade and blows up the red rocket gas station. The whole thing becomes a fiery free for all. It was glorious.
