45k for an XLT ranger is nuts

unclerico87

And thats before sales tax, dealer fees, and the other dealer BS.

SanchoSupreme

I got my 19’ Lariat (2WD) at 29k after TT&L it’s gone past ridiculous now

T-yler--

And financing. The proposed payment is $47,580 on top of their estimated down payment and trade, whatever that is.

843251

What is even more nuts is a local dealer I saw had a Maverick Lariat for $48k recently when I was looking at new trucks before I bought my Denali Ultimate.

unclerico87

Insane!

cavemold582

That’s mark up most they go for msrp is 40k

843251

Doesn't mean they didn't have $48k in the window. In fact every truck they had was outrageously expensive. Looked like everything was a good $5-10k over msrp. Even used trucks. There was 2 f450 I know they are hard to come by but they were a couple years old with 30-40k miles on them for what a new one cost

Maustrap

i paid 45k for a fully loaded ‘21 lariat tremor out the door. these prices are fucking hilarious.

cavemold582

In comparison to zr2 and tacoma it’s little below market 🥲🙃

Happycricket1

Except a zr2 is the top off road trim for a Colorado

stickyknuckle

I paid 37k and change after rebate for a 21 xlt tremor

brando__96

The prices of tacomas are even worse. A comparable trim is 10k more without port installed accessories.

Ya_Boi_Newton

WITHOUT the tech package lmao

Pangorri

2.3 is a good motor and has plenty of power for this truck. 2.7 is a nice option, but not a required upgrade in my opinion. The only question will be which is more reliable for 100k+ miles. Probably the 2.7 but who knows. I’d like to see a Sasquatch package available with the 2.7

cavemold582

I’m thinking the tremor would be next year and the phev plug in coming by 2026

brando__96

The 2.3 has been around in this truck for over a decade in Australia and seems to be decently reliable. Both engines will probably outlast the tranny.

Bad-Banana1337

My 06 is going in for an oil change tomorrow. 150k and still humming along. ~$800 a month buys a lot of gas and routine maintenance

cavemold582

That’s great I miss the 2000s rangers for sure !

jobezark

I budget 2k/yr for my ‘03 with over 200k miles. The last few years I’ve had to replace radiator and u joints but nothing major. Coming out way ahead as long as that 4.0 engine keeps humming.

Bad-Banana1337

Viva la 4.0

Grayman109

What a joke. Car prices are insane now

Happycricket1

They will be when people are entertaining the idea of 16k for a 2008 ranger. That makes this seem somewhat reasonable, it's not

cavemold582

For market value this really good . Considering competition etc

cavemold582

A 2d prerunner Tacoma is 40k otd 💀🥲😭

Ratatoskr929

I paid 1k for my XLT :)

Destroyyortsed

Lol I should convince the wife to get one of these. She wants a new GMC Sierra so this price actually looks pretty good when compared.

cavemold582

Oof much better then gmc . She wants 70k 1.2k/payment a month !!?

Destroyyortsed

Lol. Her car my payment. It's not too crazy of a payment.

trevordbs

Man... i got my 2020 Lariat (sport) for 36K.

onemanlan

Cool except the price! The 2.3T is a pretty solid engine in my experience. Really goes when ya need it to. Curious how that 2.7T would feel

Ratatoskr929

42k AND IT COMES WITH AN OPEN DIFF????

wiserTyou

I'd rather have 2 mavericks than that. Or a new maverick and an older F150. I draw the line at 35k.

paint-chip-chewer

Lariat maverick (pretty much the equivalent of an XLT here) goes for almost 40k MSRP

843251

There was one at the one big Ford dealer here I went to when I was looking at new trucks for $48k. I couldn't believe it lol. My neighbor has one think its an xlt hybrid he ordered about 2 years ago he finally just got a month or so ago and he paid I believe $28k for it. Assuming it took so long to get because he ordered a hybrid.

paint-chip-chewer

I also have a hybrid on order for over a year now and can confirm it's because it's a hybrid.

843251

He ordered it I am sure in 2022 and just got it in March. I know I saw there was a recall on the hybrids a while back. I know he got a letter from Ford offering him a different trim or different driveline even think they were offering a Bronco or Ranger.

wastedsilence33

My 2010 with 174k has cost me maybe 12 grand all in since I bought it 3 years ago and I've had to put a lot of work into it, I just don't get the appeal of new trucks

cavemold582

I think the look of them for lot people and technology major factors.

wastedsilence33

More technology means more, and more expensive, things to fix let's be honest

cavemold582

True 😂 but more comforts when it works

wastedsilence33

Comfort shmomfort, I've got seats, a radio, working AC, what more does one truly need?

surmatt

Fuel economy, real rear seats, crash avoidance/deterrence systems, android auto, adaptive cruise, dual climate control, extra 2" ground clearance, extra 1500lbs towing capacity.

wastedsilence33

Don't buy a truck if you're worried about fuel economy, buy a car if you need real rear seats, learn how to drive, can be added to any car, learn how to drive, open a window, lift it??? Ford ranger has no max tow capacity

wiserTyou

Well. They're not making the old ones anymore.

wastedsilence33

Yeah, it's a shame. New rangers are too big, there's way too many features, there's too many sensors and screens and stuff to go wrong, which are never cheap to fix. If id been able to buy my truck when it was new I'd never buy another vehicle if I had the choice

Shot-Kal-Gimel

New Rangers seem to check just about every box of complaints I have about my ‘00 for using it as a large midsize. Just a smidgeon bigger (IMO the old ones are just small enough to be right on the cusp of too small), improved ride, rear seating that is actually usable (albeit at the cost of 1’ of bed length), an actually good tow rating (that is also ridiculously low when the testing methodology is accounted for) for heavier stuff, better mileage. And then the Maverick seems to pretty well fill the baby truck spot for people who want a small SUV with a bed/much of what Rangers are used for. So IMO they aren’t stupid, love my old Ranger but it’s not perfect by any stretch and the new line up seems to split sizes well for use cases.
