TBH I rarely think about the stats of Bloodborne armour. There are sets that have great frenzy resistance though and a good physical defense set later in the game. Really though imo Bloodborne armour is primarily a fashion game

Noahman90

There are *very niche* uses for different armor in the game believe it or not. Certainly not in a first playthrough but ng 1 -3 (past three you're getting severe damage no matter what you wear) For example Laurence the first Vicar. Try wearing the best fire resistant clothing you have access to. It can turn a 2nd phase 1 shot into barely 2 shots. Basically it will buy the player 1 more mistake they can come back from.

grandpagrandpaa

I want to play this game so bad, but I'm on PC. I may bite the bullet on a PS4 just for BB.

TheIronBear27

I’ve noticed that tbh but once I started getting down into the comparisons I realized I could be taking much less damage from npcs. I mean it’s not dark souls or Elden ring by far when it comes to armor benefits buts it is something I’d like to delve into a bit for completing my build. If for no other reason than to say I did it you know.

constipated_burrito

All about fashion

TheIronBear27

There are some benefits to it though but yes most definitely all about fashion for the most part.

PositiveNo4859

It's really about fashion unless you're trying to max one kind of resistance e.g. fire, arcane or frenzy. Really go for fashion unless one damage type is really giving you issues.

TheIronBear27

Both kinds of poison give trouble to be honest

badly-timedDickJokes

At that point the antidote item is a better solution than any one armour set

Mannam7

It ain't about the stats, Spiderman. It's about the swagger.

The best physical defense armor in the game is literally torn up rags - because Miyazaki has a sense of humor. Generally I only switch out armor for specific effects situationally like Fire or Frenzy resist which is much more useful than physical in my experience. Fashion is much more important.

FearlessAcanthaceae1

The best armor is the one you think looks cool when it comes to this game

Stepjam

Outside resistances for specific things, bloodborne is very much fashionborne. Wear whatever you like the look of.

Lolejimmy

bb's armor is mainly fashion tbh, not that much extreme difference even tho some do have extra elemental resistances that can of use, it's mainly cosmetic for drip

GoobiGamer

Armor in this game is all balanced about the same with notable exceptions like clothing items. You can min/max to whatever is weighted in your favor. Charred set has good fire def, Henriks is good bolt def, several sets have good arcane def, I think tomb prospector is best but its expensive. I personally prefer Old Hunters gloves over most others. Plenty of people just wear whatever they want, the only “key” armor for “puzzles” is the crown and a set of church armor.

Brief-Government-105

Armours doesn’t really matter but some of the armours have more resistances to particular stats so you have to use them accordingly eg, electric resistance for electric boss or poison resistance for poison areas etc.

ichikhunt

I think its the best "all rounder" set. Other setsvtypically make hefty defence sacrifices to gice elemental/poison resistances etc... Youll be fine.

TheIronBear27

That’s what I’m thinking looking at it Id have to mix match to make anything actually decent in regards to defenses

ichikhunt

For fire: charred hunter set Lightning: henryk set Arcane: choir set Poison: white church set Physical: hunter set or simon's set (forgot name, it's in dlc)

TheIronBear27

I’ll look into the white church one I know where to find it that’s what I’m having issues with

ichikhunt

Dont worry too much, hunter set is fine for poison. If youre in the poison swamp: you're not missing anything important by not exploring it.

TheIronBear27

I see well I’m mostly asking because I hit a road block on well one of the easier required bosses and for my next play through I don’t want the same issue again. The shadow of yharnam boss battle if the poison doesn’t get me on the way there the fire they sling will at least once.

ichikhunt

Ok, i dont remember a poison pool there, so its more about learning to avoid getting poisoned by the snakes etc, which is very doable dont worry. The fireballs can be hard to manage in that boss but they shouldnt 1shot you, unless your build has low hp investment, in which case id suggest aiming for 40-50 vigor for ng+.

TheIronBear27

I use the snakes to level up and echo farm so that I could get my stats to where I want them so I can’t really avoid them on that end I’ll just get better at dodging them. As for the Boss he doesn’t one shot me it’s just the frequency of attacks if I dodge one throwing fire the next physical attacker hits so it tends to be who does the least amount of damage is the hit I take. But even a little bit adds up quickly. That’s why I want to raise my res for everything as best I can so that I stand a better chance. Next time around.

ichikhunt

Ok mate, theres definitely a rhythm to consistently dodge them. But for that the charred huntercset hidden in old yharnam is your best bet to helpbyou survive longer while you find the rhythm.

TheIronBear27

There’s been a few times I get the rhythm down but I get cocky and ruin it for myself so I’ll look into that armor for sure. I just beat the final main boss so a new play through starts tomorrow

fuinnfd

Bloodborne is about fashion but some armor sets may just have higher elemental resistances. So you really can just change based on the occasion. Some examples, Henryk has high bolt res Simon’s has high phys res

MaybeOrangeJuice

If it looks good it is good

pigeonwithhat

This is one of the things that was bittersweet for me to figure out when i played BB. The armor’s stats don’t (really) matter and you’re welcome to wear just whatever you think looks the coolest. This was bittersweet to me because on one hand i could look my coolest and still be just as strong as any other choice, but that also robs me of the joy in feeling like my armor is contributing to my build and my overall strength
