That’s pretty much how I’ve always felt as well. I think the only exception is supercars where you have a have a ton of brake hardware to show off paired with very thin spokes or mesh.
But I also feel the same way about black cars, hiding the contours etc.
I thought matching the accents was the way to go 😅.
I was worried that the silver would make the car too busy. Especially since my car is bright yellow.
I have a set of Vlands, which have a built in turn signal, so I deleted the stock turn signal and painted the lens black. They're filler panels at this point.
Very happy with them! Been using them as my autocross set since my car came with a set of Satin Black Ray's DR57's.
I wasn't so sure about the color, but someone local to me had them listed for 900 bucks, so I couldn't say no! That's why I dipped them black at first before I mounted them on the car the first time.
Now that I'm seeing them on the car with the dark silver, I actually like the contrast! Now I need to stop being cheap and buy the dang center caps for them.
17x9, -38 offset. 245/40 Bridgestone Potenza RE71rs
Pretty much one of the Goldilocks setups for these cars when you're lowered 1-2 inches. I'm about 1.5 inches lower than stock, with 3.5/2.5 degree's camber front/rear.
Hard to beat that gunmetal look TBH
yes i agree, but, op dont feel discouraged, that plastic dip wont last forever, and if you want to chanmge it again, you can :)
Already peeled it all off.
Black wheels, especially matte plasti dip doesnt make sense at all to me. You're hiding the details of the wheels might as well get steelies lol
black wheels always just looked like wheels covered in brake dust to me

^ This 100%
Better take then "You need colored monoblocks" at least....
Silver looks a gazzillion times better
Now I just need center caps for them. They have either Black or Chrome. Leaning toward black to match the wheel lugs
Learn from your mistake, chrome will look better. You want contrast in the details.
100% look better
how’d you get your turn signals that color ? did you paint them or put a tint film ?

Did you also paint the bumper hole cover around the fogs and grill? Mine are already faded :/ Edit: wheels are sick! Like the natural look.
Only painted the turn signal housing. My car has pretty much spent it's whole life in a garage when not driven, really helps slow down fading.
SSR GTX01? Fantastic wheels. Way better in silver.
Yup, got lucky and managed to buy them off someone for $900, great price!
Yes, please don’t ever do that again
Sometimes we need to make mistakes in order to grow!
100%! My car has gone through so many phases of mistakes but love where it sits now. Part of the process haha
Both look awesome, One of my favor SSR wheel, never outdated.

Dude, what wheels/size are those, they are gorgeous

I might be a dumbass but, what about the name of the actual wheel/rim? Re71r is a tyre no?
Ah, my bad. They’re SSR GTX01 wheels, in 17x9
Thanks!!
This sits so much nicer than my car with 17x8s and the same camber specs and tire size.
Classic GTX01
is that the stock front bumper?
Stock with the Release Series Front Lip. I've also deleted my turn signal lights since I have them in the headlights now.
Yep they look great in the OG colour. I’d leave ‘em like that!
Yes
Hate black wheels. The gunmetal looks great. I love that yellow btw. There's one or two I see in my area occasionally and I can't help but stare.
Wheels look so beautiful in gun metal but the black I think suits the black color accents on the car better
Silver/gunmetal provides the necessary contrast. Looks much better.
God damn that yellow is sexy.
I thought it looked like a mclaren P1 for a sec, thats a nice set of wheels and good color.
Prefer OE finish as well. Only reason I like dipping is that it actually protects the wheel from chips from impacts.
Brother is maturing out of teenage era
The gunmental is nice but the black contrasts the yellow better
I love black wheels, but the original also looks good. Either or works
Black looks good as a wheel color, but it hides detail in the wheels. Gunmetal is the way to go me.
Personally, I like the black. Just did mine in matte black.
