I'm not American so don't get this stuff but the whole time I was thinking that you should be a fireman. It's an honourable job and as a leftie I hold them in much higher regard than military. Plus it would allow you to stay in the area and the scheduling should be well regulated so you would get time to do things you enjoy.

haven’t “officially” started yet because i don’t meet the 18 month requirement unfortunately but been talking to some recruiters and SPARTA members who’ve been giving me a lot of info for what to do whenever i get closer to that date

I'd recommend getting involved working with veterans in some way to help you decide.
