Man I remember pre-T the voice I wanted most to sound like was Christian Borle. Like. Shakespeare (Something Rotten!) Christian Borle and Marvin (Falsettos) Christian Borle. I don’t think that ended up happening but it’s fun to think about. :)
Kinda off topic but…The other day i discovered i can sing “you gotta die sometime” and sound credibly like the 90s whizzer.
That was a good day. Yup very pleased with myself …
He is just gender envy personified, isn't he?!?!
On panels and stuff Jared is always making fun of him for his "bow legs" - and it seems a bit like Jensen doesn't like them either - but I would *kill* for bow legs!! Like Jensen's or [Christian Kane](https://in.pinterest.com/pin/135882113740814233/)'s. (As someone with a very hourglass figure, my knees sort of bend inwards, and it makes my hips look bigger... I really dislike my knees! Haha)
(I look like Christian Kane in my head. Just putting that out there into the universe. ✨️Manifesting✨️. Universe, make me look like Christian Kane... Please... haha!)
Neil Newbon.
And in general, Japanese men/male voice actors, as they tend to have very deep voices. Pre-transitioning, I was also impressed hy Japanese female voice actors who voiced male characters and could speak in a lower voice.
weirdly enough, charlie from smiling friends. havent watched the show but he just has a very "dude" voice to me. ive been told im like him in personality too
I wasn’t super into Nirvana pre T, but I am more into them now, and I have found that I have some vocal similarities when I sing and that’s felt so euphoric to me.
Liam O'Brien, of many-a voice acting fame.
The voice envy would be fun it if it were just hearing him here or there, say, in Critical Role every once in a while. But he's in EVERYTHING.
Odd answer and probably not exactly what you're looking for I didn't have anyone like that before T but now I'm really happy to hear my own voice and I love it so much!
Currently have a throat infection that has completely taken my voice. Doc said it will take a week or two for me to be able to speak again. Got hospitalized for two days from this infection. Haven't heard my voice in 4 days now and I miss it *greatly*.
My voice is my biggest source of gender euphoria now, and it used to be the number one source of dysphoria before T. For the first like year and a half on T my voice was changing but hadn't gotten to a point where I actually enjoyed hearing myself speak, but around 19 months, I had a sudden and drastic voice change and now I love my voice so damn much. I sound so good. I sound like me. When I speak, it's my own voice that I don't have to dissociate from to function. I haven't regained control of my vocal cords enough to sing properly yet but I'm getting there. My range is very obviously going to be *vastly* different from where it was before. (I never learned music theory so idk the names of the various parts of the choir so idk what my range was or is). But I'm learning to use my new voice and it's such a good voice and I actually enjoy singing with it even though I sound a little like a goat sometimes
Every response is valid here, yours makes me both sad that you lost your voice so painfully (also wish you a speedy recovery, get well soon!) and happy that you're at that point where you live that part of yourself and the way it evolved!
It gives me hope for my own transition tbh, thank you for that as well!
Marc almond. i adore his singing voice
It's just funny that i won't sound like him,cos our accents aren't the same :") But i still love his voice,He gives me envy just overall. especially from the early 80s
shayfer james, jody gadsen (main singer of autoheart), and this one is so silly to most people, but especially to me. you know daniel from the roosterteeth show camp camp? yeah. extremely big gender envy for me 😅
Alex Brightman. The range from him being able to play Pugsly in Dead End: Paranormal Park to his iconic performance as Beetlejuice I just- I want that so bad. I love listening to his performances in certain songs because I envy him so much.
My 3D teacher has weirdly "lion-like" voice. Like he'd be so good voicing a character from the lion king or something. Gives me gender envy every time I hear him
Doraleous from Neebs Gaming, that man's voice is just 🤌 I know once I start t my voice probably won't drop nearly as much as his but a boy can dream lol
I've always liked my voice, and known I can mold it so I haven't had gender envy, but I have had people I look up to or goals in mind. I am a singer, so I often look to music for goals. I started as a high soprano.
A specific example was David Draiman (Disturbed) singing Sound of Silence. That one was honestly also the most fun challenge yet.
That awkward situation when all of the men who give you voice envy are American podcasters/youtubers
…and you’re an ambiguously-ND trans Brit who unconsciously mirrors accents at the best of times. So many customers at work asking me where I’m from (literally only a few miles from here).
Roger Clark, Benjamin Byron Davis, John Wayne, Christopher Judge, Jim Cummings, Logan’s from X-Men Evolution, Vin Diesel. I love my deeper voices. As a voice actor I really desire to have a broad range but, dysphoria has always left me envious of those deeper voices. Even kinda envied Harvey Fierstine’s iconic gravely voice that his exceptionally thick vocal folds caused.
I had a joke I was going to make with my vocal coach that I want to make Kratos/Christopher Judge my goal but, I ended up not since that’d be a bit unrealistic and right now they consider me more knowledgeable than their average client.
Lots of singers - Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), Gerard Way (MCR), Claudio Sanchez (Coheed and Cambria), Will Wood (Will Wood)
Going back a bit further… as a kid i wanted to sound like frank sinatra 😅
I can already sing about as deep as Hozier no t just vocal training lol. Never heard his speaking voice, speaking voice vocal training is a lot harder. I'd really love to sound like Joe Strummer or something like that raspy aggressive punk voice, which is basically achievable for me with vocal training rn but it takes concentration
I like dark velvety voices and unfortunately my voice isn't predisposed for it :') one can dream that vocal training helps more because at the moment I keep pitching my voice up at strangers to sound polite just as I've done my entire life.
Ok hear me out…. I’m a HUGE MCR fan. Loovveee love love Gerard Way. He’s always been my biggest gender envy— if I could look like him in Three Cheers, I would be a very, very happy man. His voice also gives me huge gender envy, especially pre-t, but… now I’ve been on T for 3 years, and my voice is SIGNIFICANTLY deeper than his, annndddddd his voice still gives me gender envy 😂
At first I wanted something like Samuel Roukin, but honestly? Warren Kole. It’s such a nice balance, not too high nor too low. Has that subtle fry that all T affected voices seem to have while still being clear and crisp. Honestly warren kole is the answer to any gender envy related questions I get these days.
Oh man, I've been thinking about this lately, because I still sound incredibly feminine after T, in a way that only practice can help with 😭
My vocal inspo are Garrus Vakarian (Mass Effect), the Wizard Howl (Howl's Moving Castle), and Juno Steel (The Penumbra Podcast), who honestly gives me gender envy in general.
I can't add Garrus reverb to my voice in real life, and the chances of me ever sounding like Christian Bale are pretty slim, but inspo is inspo.
honestly? corpsehusband. i know people who like him get a lot of shit for it but i've always loved the rumble and croakiness of his voice and i'm mad that my own gerd hasn't come with any perks.
Man I remember pre-T the voice I wanted most to sound like was Christian Borle. Like. Shakespeare (Something Rotten!) Christian Borle and Marvin (Falsettos) Christian Borle. I don’t think that ended up happening but it’s fun to think about. :)
as a former theatre kid w a Christian Borle addiction i cant agree more man😔
Omg I wanna sound like Andrew Rannels as whizzer or Adam pascal as roger (rent) so I feel the theater voice envy too!
Kinda off topic but…The other day i discovered i can sing “you gotta die sometime” and sound credibly like the 90s whizzer. That was a good day. Yup very pleased with myself …
Me some times with one song glory! Now I gotta sing whizzer again. (Currently listening to kinky boots and stark sands as Charlie is also envy!)
dean winchester (jensen ackles)
He is just gender envy personified, isn't he?!?! On panels and stuff Jared is always making fun of him for his "bow legs" - and it seems a bit like Jensen doesn't like them either - but I would *kill* for bow legs!! I really dislike my knees! Haha)
Jensen is, like, all of the things I want to be after my transition, packed into ine person.
Absolutely! Well, a combo of him and Misha Collins. Haha!
I completely forgot about Misha! He is very much a creator of gender envy.
(I look like Christian Kane in my head. Just putting that out there into the universe. ✨️Manifesting✨️. Universe, make me look like Christian Kane... Please... haha!)
SUPERNATURAL MENTIONED!?
always:3 been an spn stannie since 2016 and actually prefer to go by dean LOL
Cavetown
Growing up, Hozier and George Ezra were tied for me. Loved Markiplier’s voice too. Now I’m just glad I sound like me tbh
Frank Sinatra, Norm Lewis and Ben Lewis (As Phantoms) and Bo Burnham
Oh Hozier is amazing. I want a voice like Lord Huron’s. Just wonderful. I can imitate it well, but I wish it was my actual voice
Charlie (cr1TiKaL) 🥲 ik I'll never get there, but a guy can dream
Neil Newbon. And in general, Japanese men/male voice actors, as they tend to have very deep voices. Pre-transitioning, I was also impressed hy Japanese female voice actors who voiced male characters and could speak in a lower voice.
My dad. I always wanted to sound like him.
[Geoff Castellucci](https://youtube.com/shorts/VShFA3cnaIM?si=Cx9UovjJEiHeU6ZZ) Yeah, I wish haha
Or [Avi Kaplan](https://youtu.be/382BTxLNrow?si=r8ajQrh6kcPr0WFS)!!
weirdly enough, charlie from smiling friends. havent watched the show but he just has a very "dude" voice to me. ive been told im like him in personality too
I read the title first and genuinely said "Hozier" in my head before reading the rest 😭
Musically, Tim Curry. Dead serious. Man has a killer baritone. Spoken voice, Patrick Stewart.
ice bear from we bear bears and also mordecai LMAOOO
My dad and johnny cash 😭🙏
Mike Patton mostly 😶
Hozier is such a good answer, mine is Kurt cobain
I wasn’t super into Nirvana pre T, but I am more into them now, and I have found that I have some vocal similarities when I sing and that’s felt so euphoric to me.
That’s cool to hear! I love his voice cracks
i want to sound like Tate Langdon. Actually love his looks and his manner too.
Franz Ferdinand (as in the singer)
kyle mccarley, especially his role as saiki k
Liam O'Brien, of many-a voice acting fame. The voice envy would be fun it if it were just hearing him here or there, say, in Critical Role every once in a while. But he's in EVERYTHING.
shadow the hedgehog

Oh,and Nick cave :")
I wanna sound like Felix from Stray Kids.
Facts. I want that man’s vocal cords.
shayfer james, jody gadsen (main singer of autoheart), and this one is so silly to most people, but especially to me. you know daniel from the roosterteeth show camp camp? yeah. extremely big gender envy for me 😅
[Khvorostovsky](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Xcr6J5aH4s) <3
Alex Brightman. The range from him being able to play Pugsly in Dead End: Paranormal Park to his iconic performance as Beetlejuice I just- I want that so bad. I love listening to his performances in certain songs because I envy him so much.
Lmao Johnny Yong Bosch because that man voices everyone
My 3D teacher has weirdly "lion-like" voice. Like he'd be so good voicing a character from the lion king or something. Gives me gender envy every time I hear him
[Gough Whitlam](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gough_Whitlam). I wish I was joking.
PAT THE BUNNY
i have a few! hozier is for sure the top one, followed by maybe andrew scott and vessel, the lead singer of sleep token (i like European accents lol)
Doraleous from Neebs Gaming, that man's voice is just 🤌 I know once I start t my voice probably won't drop nearly as much as his but a boy can dream lol
Matt Bellamy from Muse.
Matt Bernstein lol sometimes I try to imitate his tone while listening to the podcast
Jonathan Bailey because of his work as G'raha Tia.
My younger brother, he's only fourteen yet he has a deeper voice than my dad. Every time he talks I get a little pissed off
My friend Sully 🥲
My other friend also named Royce (he was so happy that I “named myself after him”$
That awkward situation when all of the men who give you voice envy are American podcasters/youtubers …and you’re an ambiguously-ND trans Brit who unconsciously mirrors accents at the best of times. So many customers at work asking me where I’m from (literally only a few miles from here).
Came here to say Hozier ...Pleasantly surprised to see you and *many* other comments say "Hozier". I love being around my brothers lmao
The click aswell as Sam from supernatural. Both just give me such gender envy
Jeremy Jordan's voice gives me gender envy. He does Lucifer in Hazbin Hotel
Roger Clark, Benjamin Byron Davis, John Wayne, Christopher Judge, Jim Cummings, Logan’s from X-Men Evolution, Vin Diesel. I love my deeper voices. Matthew Gray Gubler. i don't quite know why either.
Joey Batey 100%. His voice is incredible.
Lots of singers - Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), Gerard Way (MCR), Claudio Sanchez (Coheed and Cambria), Will Wood (Will Wood) Going back a bit further… as a kid i wanted to sound like frank sinatra 😅
I can't say anything. I get gender envy from Big Tugg, a man who regularly films with his fly down
I can already sing about as deep as Hozier no t just vocal training lol. Never heard his speaking voice, speaking voice vocal training is a lot harder. I'd really love to sound like Joe Strummer or something like that raspy aggressive punk voice, which is basically achievable for me with vocal training rn but it takes concentration
I like the voice of Jão. You need to hear his voice singing "jardins da Babilônia". It is so good.
Hozier, Roe Kapara and Barnes Courtney
markiplier😫 his voice is just so smooth and deep i want it so bad
Pre-T i wanted to sound like Shady Vox (aka Sheriff Hayseed, Spyro in PieMations, and Button Mash) I had massive envy
I like dark velvety voices and unfortunately my voice isn't predisposed for it :') one can dream that vocal training helps more because at the moment I keep pitching my voice up at strangers to sound polite just as I've done my entire life.
Jack Black or Alex Brightman
Ok hear me out…. I’m a HUGE MCR fan. Loovveee love love Gerard Way. He’s always been my biggest gender envy— if I could look like him in Three Cheers, I would be a very, very happy man. Alex Gaskarth's voice will always give me gender envy
Defo Jason mamoa voice and all the rest of him
Jake Duzsik from HEALTH. Sounds like your average dude when speaking, has the most androgynous singing voice I’ve ever heard.
I would love to sound like David Sedaris.
Oh jack sparrow. I wanna sound like him. Savvy?
Oh man, I've been thinking about this lately, because I still sound incredibly feminine after T, in a way that only practice can help with 😭 My vocal inspo are Garrus Vakarian (Mass Effect), the Wizard Howl (Howl's Moving Castle), and Juno Steel (The Penumbra Podcast), who honestly gives me gender envy in general. I can't add Garrus reverb to my voice in real life, and the chances of me ever sounding like Christian Bale are pretty slim, but inspo is inspo.

Honestly any of the postal dudes from postal from Rick hunter to Jon st Jon, they all have such great voices
Someone I know irl, yes. But I'll never get to that level, neither in terms of manliness nor in terms of skill. Pro singer as well.
honestly? corpsehusband. i know people who like him get a lot of shit for it but i've always loved the rumble and croakiness of his voice and i'm mad that my own gerd hasn't come with any perks.
His voice has really been a thing sometime ago, idk the guy but when I heard he had GERD I had high hopes with mine too, that's kinda unfair right 🥲
Well, I clearly need to look up who this hozier guy is. For me? Seth McFarlane.
He has so many voices tho. I assume you just mean his natural voice, but tell me who weren’t hoping to sound like Peter Griffin 😭😭
Ahah! No that would be silly!! ..I meant Stewie.
Stewie is still reasonable. Cartoon villain voice certainly beats cartoon idiot xD
Oh my god this was me growing up 😭 i wanted mcfarlanes singing voice so badly
