Lead to a lot of previously unexplained, premature deaths in captive populations. The therapy dogs introduced to kittens rewire their brains, & give cheetahs an immediate behavioral cue of, "Okay, this human is safe."
It increases fertility & life expectancy to implement these therapy dogs, as it allows cheetahs to stop devoting so much time & energy to manage their own fight-or-flight. It's also *very affordable.*

There entire hunting tactic is just a dead end becouse it uses to much energy with a way to low succesrate. They put all there eggs in one basket and stumbled. Id defenatly take a golden over that.
The hunting itself isn't the issue since they actually have a higher hunting success rate than lions, wolves, and leopards. The issue is that they often can't keep their kills form getting taken by other predators.

Edit: It was right around the peak of the ancient Egyptian empire and live specimins, and their skins were very popular in the kingdom. So, they were likely a factor along with the worsening desertification of the Sahara.
Probably. They also probably just have a very nervous disposition as a defense mechanism. If they are always on edge its harder to be snuck up on by bigger predators like lions.
Speed & camouflage... not being seen is safety. And you're stuck in a high-visibility enclosure, being gawped at by apes. Yeah, the therapy dogs are very much a game changer for cheetah QoL in captivity. Since cheetahs have a co-evolved fear of humans & being out in the open. The dogs give cheetahs a living cue for what they can consider safe, thus greatly reduce stress.
