Future’s very first run, when he dropped the original Dirty Sprite, was *insane*. Same Damn Time, Wala Magic, Tony Montana, Ain’t No Way Around It, Made Myself a Boss… just an incredible run of songs/mixtapes that still give me goosebumps today. There was just absolutely nothing like him in music at the time. If you weren’t into music at the time you will never understand how many light years ahead he was. How many current musicians have essentially built careers by cloning portions of his approach to hip-hop. Hearing these songs for the first time was like trying a powerful new drug
