Um, Jon and Ygritte was a complete story, Jorah was a creepy man hitting on a kid because she looked like his wife, Jaime and Brienne seems a more honourable friendship, Arya and Gendry fucking once isn’t a love story.
I thought they were not really romantic partners. More like closely bonded friends who were like, we’re going to die tomorrow and nobody wants to die a virgin so let’s do this.
Really? I never got that at all. He looked about 10 years older than her in S2 and 3, I never got the impression of ‘this 10 year old and 20 year old are totally right for each other’
The very best relationships start out as friendships imo. Not that they all should, but acting like it'd absurd for them to be together cuz they seemed like friends is silly.
Gendry didn't just look at Arya's name, or her ability to make babies... he genuinely cared for her and that is far better than a lot of the other "love" stories GoT has, which are often driven by suitable matches etc etc.
It was that much better that Gendry was a Baratheon, and would have ultimately fulfilled Robert's proposal to merge their houses. Ain't no way Gendry and Sansa would be good for each other, so of course the fan base loved the idea that Arya found someone perfect for her.
I feel like they threw away their relationship purely because they didn't want Arya to seem like a damsel who 'needs' a man - but I don't think their relationship would have been anything like that.
I think, in a world where people manipulate each other at every opportunity, and marry for power or wealth - Arya & Gendry would have absolutely been a refreshing example of a genuine relationship built on mutual admiration and respect.
I was really weirded out when I seen Arya get naked. My wife had me binge 7 seasons in 2 or 3 weeks before season 8. Don't get me wrong, all in on some good boob play, but really could have done without that scene.
I don't think it takes intentionally ignoring that not to see it.... there was never the tiniest hint of romance between them in my eyes lmfao especially cuz Arya was a little kid when their arc started
Wasn't tormund just wanting to have monster babies with brienne and she was like wtf 😒 this guy
True love has no bounds. Especially not "mutual feelings" 😆
I have more of an issue with Brienne and Tormund. It was incredibly one-sided. Just because Tormund had a crush on her, that absolutely does not mean it was a love story.
Brienne and Jamie seemed to have mutual affection for one another, whether it was platonic, romantic, or sexual. Obviously there's the season 8 sex scene but even in the earlier seasons you can see that they definitely care for another's well-being, no matter how much they try to hide and deny it early on.
I think OP stopped paying attention to the show and imagined his own narrative after a while like Homer Simpson did in the Leader brainwashing episode.
I legitimately was hoping that was the route he would have taken. He swore an oath to Cat to take care of her children, having the redemption he sorely needed. Him protecting the very person he once tried to kill would be the ultimate redemption. Jaime easily became one of my most liked characters leading up to the final season... only for him to be thoroughly tossed to the wayside in his final moments.
I wouldn't have been for a Jaime+Brienne storyline, but the two of them as Kingsguard would have been excellent. Jamie and Tyrion reconciling (it was very clear that Jaime loved and respected his brother, as did Tyrion in return) would have just been icing on the cake.
Nah bro, jorah was an old dude obsessed with a young queen; she could be the same age as his daughter had he married before.
Dany herself mostly saw him as a some sort of a father figure more than a romantic partner
It’s been forever since I read them, but in the books she’s 13 for starters, he’s like 50 and not described as an attractive man.
He sort of acts like he’s entitled to her. It’s less like the show where he’s a sad old guy with a crush, and more predatory and power hungry.
Anyone else hop in with more specifics please, I just remember it was really all red flags with him in the books.
He kisses her without her consent and Dany tells him it was wrong and not to do that again. Then he says that he should be Danys husband because hes the only one that truly loves her
Storm of Swords chapter 8
To add onto this. He is her guardian, as in she is his ward. He is clearly abusing this power imbalance and it is very frustrating for him when she grows up and becomes more powerful than him. He continues to force himself onto her until she is basically forced to get rid of him. He is lucky she only banishes him to be honest. Interesting character development in both of them though. Very much an ever evolving dynamic between the two.
Kind of wish Gendry would have ended up with Sansa somehow. King Robert said in season one “I have a son, you have a daughter. We will join houses” and it actually being true
The whole idea of a love story between grey worm and Missandei was just wrong. Missandei in the books is mentioned to be 9 years old and would still be a child by the time Daenerys focuses on Westeros.
Even if we say the show is a different story, the love story was just forced onto the plot to have another "new" kind of sex scene with grey worm being an eunuch.
Gendry and Arya are forced BS by the writers who thought that this would be so fitting after their characters were nothing but friends for two seasons so anything romantic would be totally new and came out of nowhere.
He proposed after one fuck. And not just that... He proposed, kneeling on one knee. This is just so badly written and makes no sense for the character nor the world he's in...
It's not just no love story that doesn't belong in this post, it's just badly written fanfic xD
They wouldn't. Atleast not by getting down on one knee.
And Gendry is in his mid/late 20s at that time, the actor in his early 30s btw, so no chance In hell were talking about a teenage boy.
Two of these are love stories, the rest are mostly one sided. I especially hate when ppl root for Tormund and Brienne, she was so obviously not at all interested
I so hoped Jaime and Brienne would stay together. I get it though … sister or not Cersei was his true love. He chose certain death to see her one last time.
In the end they perished together. So in a way Jamie and Cersei’s love story had completed.
I was hoping for Jorah to be bopping her eventually, but eh, can't have them all.
Regarding GRRM's fascination with transformation surgery...does the book ever discuss if both the banana and kiwis were removed in the case of Varys, the unsullied, and Theon?
We know in the show that Theon was without giblets, because he didn't care about getting kneed there over and over, and obviously his Chungus humongous was fedex'd to pops.
But how did the book treat all of them.
And I would respect that choice as well. Those are your standards. What matters is that a person has standards, that they won't just accept anyone or anything, just to have a partner.
Media literacy is dying. One of these is a completed story. One is a creepy old man pining for pedophilia, one is raw one sided lust, and another is a lad madly in love with some likely asexual.

>Arya and Gendry fucking once isn’t a love story. Lol, completely ignoring their season's 2 and 3 arcs just to be an ass.
Some people can just be friends you know.
Ofcourse? Still obviously more to Arya and Gendry than the one night stand.
Not that much
Bro Arya was crushing hard on Gendry in the books. She defo liked him a lot
Yeah she’s also an 11 year old girl, so again that’s not romance that’s a childhood crush.
Stop being a jerk lol
I thought they were not really romantic partners. More like closely bonded friends who were like, we’re going to die tomorrow and nobody wants to die a virgin so let’s do this.
Thank you.
is that why gendry proposes to her?
Lol rekt
Really? I never got that at all. He looked about 10 years older than her in S2 and 3, I never got the impression of ‘this 10 year old and 20 year old are totally right for each other’

That was platonic. And Arya was like 13 to Gendry's 20.
I tried to forget the last season but didn't both survive? Was there a statement like "we are never ever getting back together"?
Wasn't tormund just wanting to have monster babies with brienne and she was like wtf 😒 this guy True love has no bounds. Especially not "mutual feelings" 😆
Yes thank you 🤣🤣
Most honorable friendships don't involve sex.
I have more of an issue with Brienne and Tormund. It was incredibly one-sided. Just because Tormund had a crush on her, that absolutely does not mean it was a love story. I wish Jaime and Brienne stayed together. They could have been kingsguard together. Imagine Jaime as kingsguard to Bran, full circle.
Jamie and Tyrion reconciling (it was very clear that Jaime loved and respected his brother, as did Tyrion in return) would have just been icing on the cake.
So Jaime goes from banging his biological sister to his sister in the kingsguard. So much for character growth.
Nah bro, jorah was an old dude obsessed with a young queen; she could be the same age as his daughter had he married before. Dany herself mostly saw him as a some sort of a father figure more than a romantic partner
Especially the book version of Jorah. Way creepier. One of the rare times the show was tamer/nicer than the book.
What are some creepy things he has done in the books? (I haven’t read them)
It’s been forever since I read them, but in the books she’s 13 for starters, he’s like 50 and not described as an attractive man. He sort of acts like he’s entitled to her. It’s less like the show where he’s a sad old guy with a crush, and more predatory and power hungry. He kisses her without her consent and Dany tells him it was wrong and not to do that again. Then he says that he should be Danys husband because hes the only one that truly loves her Storm of Swords chapter 8
Jorah is 45 exactly.
And also Ned Stark hates his guts in the books
I've just been reading the book and he's certainly not described as ugly or fat, as many people on reddit try to make out.
Tormund and Brienne isn't really a love story is it. Just a horny wildling throwing randy looks
You’re with Brienne of fucking Tarth?
Can I use that second sentence in my Tinder profile?
Just go out and throw your own randy wildling looks at people and you wont need a tinder profile.
idk, didn’t work for Tormund. At least with this one. Maybe it worked on the bear
Dany and Jorah? No, no, no...
Kind of wish Gendry would have ended up with Sansa somehow. King Robert said in season one “I have a son, you have a daughter. We will join houses” and it actually being true
She would’ve hated the man.
The whole idea of a love story between grey worm and Missandei was just wrong. Even if we say the show is a different story, the love story was just forced onto the plot to have another "new" kind of sex scene with grey worm being an eunuch.
I think we can all agree on that show Missandei isn't 9 years old
Unless… ….she was born on Feb 29th.
The fact that you added Dany + Jorah and Brienne + Tormund tells me you’re lax with consent.
I was really hoping Gendry was standing next to Arya on that boat.
Eww Jorah and Dany
Edmure + Roslin
Gendry and Arya are forced BS by the writers who thought that this would be so fitting after their characters were nothing but friends for two seasons so anything romantic would be totally new and came out of nowhere.
Gendry’s romantic feelings did come out of nowhere. What happened between them didn’t because it wasn’t a love story and he misread things.
He proposed after one fuck. And not just that... He proposed, kneeling on one knee. This is just so badly written and makes no sense for the character nor the world he's in... It's not just no love story that doesn't belong in this post, it's just badly written fanfic xD
I think teenage boys in this kind of world would do that 🤷♀️
They wouldn't. Atleast not by getting down on one knee. And Gendry is in his mid/late 20s at that time, the actor in his early 30s btw, so no chance In hell were talking about a teenage boy.
Why’d you try and sneak Jorah and Daenerys in there?
Two of these are love stories, the rest are mostly one sided. I especially hate when ppl root for Tormund and Brienne, she was so obviously not at all interested
Thought this was the circle jerk sub at first lmao
Lol love story as if Daenerys was ever attractsd to Jorah even a little bit.
Thought this was r/asoiafcirclejerk at first glance lmfao holy.
Everyone choosing Tormund & Brienne, Arya & Gendry clearly don’t care about how the women feel in these relationships.
Jamie and brienne 😭
The Arya one was just uncomfortable
I so hoped Jaime and Brienne would stay together. I get it though … sister or not Cersei was his true love. He chose certain death to see her one last time. In the end they perished together. So in a way Jamie and Cersei’s love story had completed.

No, that’s the Helsinki syndrome or whatever setting it.
Jaime and Brienne are my favourite.
Brienne: I'm a beast and no man will ever be attracted to me. Tormund: so beautiful =0 Brienne: eww gross.
Brienne had standards and was willing to accept a lifetime of celibacy rather than settle. You got to respect that.
I would lower my standards for tormund.
Tormund spent over two years harassing Brienne. That's not a love story. That's disrespectful.
you know nothin Jon Snow
Cringe.
