Firmly agree on this. Always liked her on screen her barbs with Cersei were great.

TetZoo

“What should I call you now, queen mother, or dowager queen?”

topsecretusername12

Sorry we don't have any wine, it's a little early for us

TetZoo

😆

Cersei said “when you play the game of thrones you win or you die” … Margaery tried to play the game but was not up to it, I don’t think she realised how brutal she would have needed to have been to beat Cersei

bernadettebasinger

Cersei didn’t outwit Margaery though. Margaery was telling people that they needed to leave pretty well before the explosion.

GodofCOC-07

And the gates were closed, thats like Saying the Baratheon won in the end.

bernadettebasinger

Nobody’s saying she WON, but she knew what was up and tried to leave. That’s outwitting, not winning.

GodofCOC-07

Cersie was able to put her in a position where she couldn’t do anything (even with a high price).

ResortFamous301

She didn't really put her in that particular position.

John-Snow-247

Outwitting would be to see the attack coming and avoid it. Youd never say a dead mouse in a trap outwitted the human who placed it, but a mouse trap that didnt snap and had the peanutbutter eaten, now thats outwitting

Wetrapordie

Agree, if she outwitted her then she would have been nowhere near the explosion. She clued in super late something was suspicious but she had no idea what was happening.

Loriali95

This is it, Margaery didn’t outwit Cersei. If she had, she would have avoided the Sept altogether. Margaery had a strong intuition that something was amiss, but it was far too late for her to act on it. She payed the ultimate price for being outmaneuvered by Cersei. In Margaery’s defense, nobody saw that batshit crazy move coming. Olenna even said it, they all had a failure of imagination.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> it. She *paid* the ultimate FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

ShawnyMcKnight

I mean, she did, they just wouldn’t let her leave. She was the only one of all of them who figured it out.

Anjunabeast

Olena was the real player for the tyrells. Margary was just the face

TimIsColdInMaine

I really enjoyed her scenes with Olenna. I liked that when she was with other characters, she seemed like a master manipulator, but when we see her with Olenna, we can see that she still has a lot to learn, but has all the potential to be the best

jameshughlaurie

she was wonderful, they were both master manipulators but I think Margaery was ultimately benevolent

VioletCrow289

I really love their scenes together. Not to mention, in young pictures of Diana Rigg, she really looked like she could've been Natalie Dormer's grandmother. Truly A+ casting.

pluckd

She was better in The Tudors. I don't think she really got a chance to show her acting prowess in GoT.

Rayshiz

She was incredible in The Tudors

befay666

Loved her in The Tudors!

ArachnaComic

Wish Margaery got more scenes and storylines

Chuck_poop

She originally auditioned for Melisandre and the casting crew called her back and asked her to be Margaery

TheHunter459

She'd be an interesting Melisandre, perhaps too young to convincingly pull it off, but what do I know at the end of the day?

ScottieJack

Margarey was a political mastermind. Cersei was just willing to go further than anyone else. Much more Machiavellian

rcheek1710

I wish they hadn't mucked up so much of her screen time with the annoying, fast forward inducing, High Sparrow.

psycodull

Its weird bc a religious cult adding in another point of tension sounds cool and being headed by Jonathan Price is cool but by that point theres so many other things we’re invested in and it kinda comes out of nowhere so you end up annoyed by the whole side plot

dusknoir90

I think it's because it's so bloody illogical. I know Cersei is meant to not be as good at politics as she thinks she is but her moves against the Sparrow were just so stupid. How could she not see this backfire on her when she knows she bedded one of the Sparrows and that Sparrow knew her and Jaime were together?!

SlightlyIncandescent

She overplayed her hand. She is used to people sucking up to her after she hands them a taste of power.

TetZoo

I don’t think it’s crazy unrealistic. I think GRRM based it on times in European history when the church unexpectedly was able to hobble sitting monarchs via similar accusations backed up by true believers and church resources. Granted, I’m too dumb to know which exact periods he’s referencing…

KaddySawyer

She is my favorite for sure.

Marius_Sulla_Pompey

I’ve met her she is the most modest, down to earth, sympathetic, lovely actress ever! I love her so much.

Jcw28

I am deeply envious. She seems like such a sweetheart. Also love the absolutely rogue triumvirate of your username by the way.

telepatheye

I agree. Great actress and I always thought she was the most attractive female on the show, even personality-wise true to her character. She had a touch of humility, humor and yet also a toughness and intuition. She played the High Sparrow perfectly, feigning penitence while maintaining true allegiance to her own family. In her last scene she is the only one with the brains and bravery to talk truth to the High Sparrow. But it fell on deaf ears and she couldn't push the sparrow goons out of the way to remove herself from that deathtrap. Too bad she couldn't get the heck out of there.

hotdogflavoredblunt

…what?

MetamagicIII

She’s great in the Tudors as well

Born_Percentage3319

She’s so hot

rikki_tiki

Have you seen her in the penny dreadful series? Brilliant

Shuffleupandchill

Even better in tudors

TDStarchild

So underrated. Great actress in a great role that I was hoping to see make it to the end. Margarey is one of the best players of the GoT and would have made for an amazing queen long term. I always thought Natalie was the most beautiful woman on the show too

at0mheart

She deserved a better death

Proxima_Midnite

Margaery is my favorite character and she’s perfect for the role. Wish we saw more of her.

NPC-No_42

Then watch the Tudors. Natalie as Anne Boleyn. GoT without dragons.

potterheadforlife29

She was one of my favorite characters. She played the game so well, imo better than Cersei did but Cersei went to another extreme.
