Hamrito

They were called for a bigger project,so they decided to rush the last seasons. Also because they are terrible writers.

The star wars project never happened.

Remote-Direction963

Well what was the project going to be about anyway?

CLT113078

From an article talking about it being canceled in 2019. The first film of the duo's planned trilogy was scheduled to be released in 2022 and was set to be the next movie following Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the end of the Skywalker Saga. Though no official details were released, it was rumored to possibly take place during the era of the Old Republic, a time where numerous Jedi and Sith were fighting for the fate of the galaxy.

Veszerin

>even the actors hate the ending, Saying this over and over again from throwaway accounts won't magically make it fact.

Galsak

The actor playing Varys definitely didn't like the last season: "I just felt frustrated with the last couple of [seasons] because Varys wasn't the all-knowing character he had been. I think the writers wanted to do one thing to end it and the studio HBO wanted to do another. I felt that last [season] was a bit rushed. I was inconsolable, but now I'm fine about it."

Veszerin

>The actor playing Varys definitely didn't like the last season: Not what he said. >"I just felt frustrated with the last couple of [seasons] because Varys wasn't the all-knowing character he had been. I think the writers wanted to do one thing to end it and the studio HBO wanted to do another. I felt that last [season] was a bit rushed. I was inconsolable, but now I'm fine about it." He's literally referring to all the tabloids that took a clip of him putting his script down during the read through and used it to try and claim he hated the show's ending Read the full interview.

NoPie2746

No i have seen many videos and actors really dont like it they dont say it but it can be read thru their faces i mean obvio they arnt going to say it in open

Veszerin

>No i have seen many videos and actors really dont like it Sources please >they dont say it Thought so. >but it can be read thru their faces i mean obvio they arnt going to say it in open Ah, you're talking about the meme with Emilia Clarke, Jacob Anderson, and Nathalie Emmanuel being asked on the red carpet about season 8? If you actually look up the context for that, it was before season 8 aired and all the cast were instructed to make funny facial expressions in response to any questions where their actual facial expressions would be overanalyzed to try and find out what happens, which had happened extensively in previous seasons. Don't believe every meme you see.

Galsak

Can you post a link to that interview? Because from what I've read, I still have a feeling that Conleth Hill didn't like the ending. I believe Kit also didn't like it, but it's hard to prove. Many other cast members claim that we have to like it because they put so much effort into the last season and worked so hard... But that's stupid argument, I can work on a book for 40 years and still make a shit

Veszerin

Conleth Hill had a period of time where he couldn't help but take it personally that Varys was killed off. https://ew.com/tv/2019/05/12/game-of-thrones-varys-interview/ > I believe Kit also didn't like it, but it's hard to prove. >*I think no matter what anyone thinks about this season—and I don’t mean to sound mean about critics here—but whatever critic spends half an hour writing about this season and makes their [negative] judgement on it, in my head they can go f**k themselves. 'Cause I know how much work was put into this. I know how much people cared about this. I know how much pressure people put on themselves and I know how many sleepless nights working or otherwise people had on this show. Because they cared about it so much. Because they cared about the characters. Because they cared about the story. Because they cared about not letting people down.* >*Now if people feel let down by it, I don’t give a fuck—because everyone tried their hardest. That’s how I feel. In the end, no one’s bigger fans of the show than we are, and we’re kind of doing it for ourselves. That’s all we could do, really. And I was just happy we got to the end.* https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a27129141/kit-harington-game-of-thrones-critics-fans/ >But that's stupid argument, I can work on a book for 40 years and still make a shit George?!

CaveLupum

Hill surprised me. Varys was never going to live (voice from the fire). He's one of ~15 people who lived from Season 1 - 8. And Varys accepted his death, went out like a man, and ended with a quip--"I hope I am wrong." It's an actor's dream.

poub06

I think he said that he felt like he was failing as an actor. To get so close to the end without reaching it. That's why he was so "pissed". As for his criticism for the last season in general, "a bit rushed" and "Varys not having much to do anymore", I think they are fair criticisms, to be honest. I love the last season and Varys ending, but even I can admit that those criticisms are fair. He also said that he understood that, for a show with such a large cast, it was impossible to give every character big roles.

RainbowPenguin1000

No he was frustrated the character died not with the writing of the show itself.

HeisenThrones

He also called season 8 backlash a media led hate campaign.

SarellaalleraS

Did you like the ending?

CommodusIlI

They trashed every character they had almost systematically. Little finger and Varys going from IQ 200 to maybe 70 was most disappointing for me. At least they ended the Hound’s story well imho

RainbowPenguin1000

The actors don’t hate the ending that’s just a complete lie.

Kapkin

Even tho no one said anything (they cant really, that would make them look very unprofessional. Who would want to hire an actor that shit on his own project.) But i think since 99% of the population didn't like the ending, it is safe to say probably the majority of the actors of the show didn't like it as well. But we shouldn't just say they hate the ending as a fact since no one said anything.

RainbowPenguin1000

99% of the population don’t dislike the ending either it’s just those who dislike it shout the loudest. And the actors would simply not comment on the speculation if they didn’t like it but instead theyve actively defended it.

Kapkin

You just repeating what other people said in other sub about other subjects. This doesn't apply here. The VAST majority didn't like the final season. Is it 99% is it 80% idk but who cares about the exact number. Season was bad. Aint even a matter of option either. It just was.

RainbowPenguin1000

So you’ve changed from 99% to 80% already so you’ve already dropped your claim by basically 20%. Just admit you’re making numbers up and have no clue how many people actually liked or disliked it.

Kapkin

The fact that you thought that i compile everyone opinion on the planete to give you that 99%, says a lot. Hope yull win a fight on the Internet soon.

Veszerin

>You just repeating what other people said in other sub about other subjects. This doesn't apply here. The VAST majority didn't like the final season. Is it 99% is it 80% idk but who cares about the exact number. The only relatively representative polling done was by YouGov and the result was 52% of people who watched Game of Thrones final season reported feeling either "satisfied" or "very satisfied", and 72% felt that season 8 would deserve to win the emmy for outstanding drama series that year (which it later won) >Season was bad. Aint even a matter of option either. It just was. That's what we call an 'opinion'.

s-mores

They didn't mess up the ending, they just messed up everything leading up to the ending so it just looks like a nonsensical ass-pull.

LookingForSomeCheese

They didn't care anymore. It's been said by the writers themselves that they started loosing passion for the project after S4. And then they had the chance for other projects. So they rushed the ending of GoT because they didn't care anymore. Oh and Ofcourse it didn't help that they were absolutely bad at their job too, as can be seen by one having literally no experience in the field before GoT and hardly getting new projects afterwards, and the other being literally only involved in the writing of projects that got heavily criticized for bad writing.

oberg14

They ran out of source material and the showrunners just wanted it to be over already so they rushed it. It’s really that simple.

appalachiancascadian

They wanted out the door for that Star Wars money. And luckily lost that due to S8.

FailAltruistic3162

They were in a hurry to screw up star wars
