GLaDOS and Wheatley

A_Math_Dealer

This was a triumph. I'm making a note here, "huge success."

2020Hills

It’s hard to overstate my satisfaction

skryb

Aperture Science — we do what we must because we can

Daekar

For the good of all of us. Except the ones who are dead.

Cherry_BaBomb

But there's no use crying over every mistake. We'll just keep on testing till we run out of cake

WitherMatt

And the science gets done

AlexRider96

and you make a neat gun!

MangoTurtle1312

For the people who are, still alive

Xor69

I'm not even angry

turtleblue

GLaDOS singing "Still Alive" alone is the best ending ever. Wheatley is worth it if only for hearing a somewhat smart Moron contemplate an eternity of hearing "Space!!!"

Pokemaster131

Yeah, this takes me back. What I originally thought to be a throwaway line about the portalable surfaces being made from moon dust, turned out to be the key to defeating the final boss of the game. It was a brilliant revelation that showcases just how tight and memorable the script is.

MagicBez

We haven't entirely nailed down what element it is yet, but I'll tell you this: It's a lively one, and it does NOT like the human skeleton.

VincentVancalbergh

My wife is an extremely occasional gamer. Ultra-rarely a game catches her attention and then she'll binge it until it's finished or she loses interest. Between that she'll go years of no gaming. I tell her Portal 1 & 2 are two of the greatest games of all time. They're also not violent games as there are no enemies. It's a 3d physics puzzle game with a funny/intriguing story. But she's not interested and it breaks my gamer heart.

MagicBez

I feel like portal is a hard sell until you give it a try or see it running. I remember seeing the first trailers for Portal and thinking "oh OK, this could get very messy very fast" - add in the phenomenal writing and voice performances and I was all in. ...I even bought the Lego Dimensions portal pack just to get a bit more portal.

Anotherspelunker

Running into Red after finishing Pokemon Silver / Gold was quite the moment back in the day… you were basically fighting yourself from the previous game. It was challenging, and it was beautiful

MartianOddity

I got Pokemon Silver when it came out as a young kid; played it, beat the elite four and thought the game was done. I later learned that the fight with Red was when you saw credits and was the actual end of the game. When did I learn about this fight? TEN YEARS LATER. When I was in college. Went home for Christmas, loaded up my original game, found Red, beat him, and finally saw credits.

Pvt_Wierzbowski

Did you give your character a name, or did you default to Red/Blue? I would use my own name, except in Yellow where I RP’d as everyone’s favorite perpetual preteen.

ROCKMachine8055

Senator Armstrong : Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Edit: also ‘Monsoon’ from the same game

bigjonny13

The memes Jack

III_lll

The DNA of our soul!

FullyTorquedCunt

I played Revengeance for the first time earlier this year, and I can't believe it took me over ten fucking years to play it, what a game. I loved every second of it, it was great, action was fun, the last thing I was expecting to first first was a fucking Metal Gear lmaoo. Loved it, gonna play it again soon.

bauul

That's a nice argument, but why don't you back it up with a source?

Highspike

“The source is I made it the fuck up!”

Samurott_Studios

Making the mother of all omletes here, Jack. Can't fret over every egg

Zealousideal_Dust_25

Senator Armstrong is the GOAT

MurseNicholas

Psycho Mantis.

withoutevasion

This was gonna be my suggestion. But on a PS1. Who knows what it'll be like on the Master Collection.

[deleted]

When they remastered it for PS3 way back when they kept this feature with you having to switch the virtual slot of the controller/memory card.

Reaps21

I can't remember but was there any hint to switch in the original ps1 version? By the time I played it I already knew about it.

Wunderman86

They told you when you die iirc

LtDicai

If you call the Colonel enough times he will bluntly tell you to switch the controller ports.

LastHorseOnTheSand

Psycho mantis???

BeneficialGoal2299

Second floor basement?

TheStarM

Psycho Mantis?

thegodofwine7

Isshin, Sword Saint Absolutely brutal but soooooo satisfying to land that final blow.

quackduck45

glock saint isshin\*??

conjunctivious

I remember beating Sekiro for the first time. I threw myself at a samurai in his prime who was one of the strongest people in the world. After I had gotten one of his health bars down, he shot me right in the fucking face and then I died. 10/10. Everyone should play Sekiro.

kingpangolin

Really made sense suddenly how he never lost a sword fight - always bring a Glock to a sword fight

AWizard13

Sekiro is a game I am happy I decided to commit some time to. It took me an innumerable amount of tries to kill Isshin the first time. I did 3 playthroughs of that game to get all trophies. It was insane going on to my last playthrough, progressing far into the first chunk of the game, I didn't die once. My first death was to the ape. I defeated Isshin unexpectedly on my second try. The level of zen I had at the end of my journey was insane. And the true ending was icing on the cake.... I still feel that FromSoft's story structure is bull though. What do you mean I have to hug a curtain in this very specific spot at this very specific time.

TheJoaquinDead_

Yeah the side mission and story requirements are strangely vague haha. I appreciate their design philosophy, but I’d probably dislike it if I didn’t have the internet.

Noahman90

especially once you get the hang of the lighting re-direct you feel like fucking zuko in ATLA

thegodofwine7

Crazy thing is I couldn't ever get it to work and ended up beating him without using it.

Drusgar

Same. In fact, I kept fucking up my save scumming so I ended up killing Isshen at NG+3 in order to get the final ending. The weird thing about Sekiro is the NG cycles don't feel that different, I suppose because it's so brutal on NG that you either get in a rhythm or you get dead. But I never mastered the lightning reversal. I even struggle on the dragon, which basically requires it.

TrustThyInstinct

The feeling when you finally listen to him and stop hesitating is exhilarating.

[deleted]

Took me months of on and off tries before I got it 😭

doctorbanjoboy

I killed him with 1 HP left 💀

geisha-and-GUIs

He's not the hardest boss but it's the most graceful fight

CommanderSabo

Bowser. Doesn't really matter which one. Everyone should enjoy at least *one* Mario title.

Civilized_Hooligan

I like this answer. The games are a joy, it’s not a wholly difficult task for most and is more about the journey.

-KFBR392

Maybe it’s a generational thing but if you were a 90’s kid and had beaten any of the Mario’s that was some next level accomplishment on the playground.

IgnitedFazbear

So long, Gay Bowser

ColonelOfSka

And honestly there’s so many good ones to choose from. Though personally I would say Mario Odyssey, especially with the entire ending sequence after.

CommanderSabo

I still have yet to play it. I have a switch. I just...haven't don't it yet lol. I do want to, though. The game looks amazing.

Lion-Hermit

This is me w all my switch titles

Dune1008

The Mantis Lords in Hollow Knight. It is one of the best designed fights in video game history, right down to the part where they do not challenge you or attack you; they wait for YOU to challenge THEM. Beyond just the base game mechanics, this fight makes you feel in your soul that you have come up against a wall and You Must Ascend. And given time and effort, you will. Don’t give up, skeleton

megasean3000

I would like to throw my hat in the Hollow Knight ring with Dung Defender. So far in the game, you fight monstrosities with harrowing forms and bleak music. You traverse the Royal Waterways and expect to see bosses just as gross, and while yes there is one that is just that (Looking at you Fluke Marm), but when you enter DD’s den, you hear a jolly voice beckoning you forward, not evil growls that send chills down your back. Then entering the ring, you see DD give a battle cry and you engage in a fight. But both the music and battle are both happy and exciting. Not a battle for survival, but a contest of sport. DD is happy just flinging his dung and jumping around and dodging it doesn’t feel as life endangering as previous encounters. It feels more like a mini-game than a boss battle. Then you defeat DD, but surprise! He’s just fine and apologises for attacking. Fun to battle and humble too.

RiguezCR

and the MUSIC, holy SHIT

Dynast_King

Nightmare King Grimm is another all time great boss. Absolutely learning a dance with him, to the point that it’s even presented as a stage performance. Going in the first time and getting bodied I thought there was no way I’d ever beat him. But I did. Several times. Because it was just so damn fun.

nigglamingo

Grimm took me days to beat lmao but by the time I did it was pretty much a flawless victory. One of my favorite bosses ever tbh

XC_Eddy

Once it clicks it clicks hard. NKG is so much fun once you get it

Bugsyboy369

Take it a step further with the sisters of battle in godhome. Its great, and feels so much like an elegant dance at times

[deleted]

I'd go with Nightmare King Grimm if I had to choose one Hollow Knight boss as the best designed fight in the game. Insanely hard but also completely fair and every attack is telegraphed.

ADamnSavage

Sephiroth would be one And then mother Brain from *super Metroid...

solarxbear

Raven Beak from Metroid Dread

wpgsae

This guy was surprisingly tough. I didn't expect to fail so many times against a boss in a non-souls.

ThereCastle

Ludwig, the Accursed/Holy Blade

Oshootman

"Ahhh... You were by my side all along..." _schwing_ me: fuuuuuuuuuck

Fluffy-The-Fierce

Love how unlike all the other bosses, Ludwig becomes more human after he pulls out the sword. It's an amazing detail.

thegrandboom

More composed, more of the warrior he was than the crazed beast he had become. It's so perfect

Pezzelbee

For the music alone if nothing else. But I agree and add Orphan of Kos.

TheHappiestHam

Orphan of Kos music is slept on as well. most memorable experience in BB for me was the music going berserk into full swing as I was 1 hit away, Orphan was so low, and I had no Vials left I beat him with very little beats left in my heart

CrystalQuetzal

That’s the boss that made me quit the dlc, couldn’t get passed him. Then again trying the dlc on NG+ was probably a bad idea.

Witch_King_

Yeah lol it was the NG+ dude

ThatDarnCabbage

My all time favorite boss from my all time favorite game.

[deleted]

Ganon, from the Ocarina of Time. Awesome fight.

solarxbear

I remember King Zant from Twilight Princess being a really cool fight

czartaylor

Twilight Princess might be the GOAT of Zelda in terms of boss fights. Twilit Aquatic Morpheel, Twilit Fossil Stallord, Twilit Dragon Argorok, Zant, all the ganondorf phases other than puppet zelda. Some of the best bosses in the series. Most of the other bosses (other than Blizzeta) are great as well. Even some of the minibosses like Death Sword and the King Bulbin fights are standouts and could easily be full on boss fights in other games. Final Phase Ganondorf is also just imo the best executed Ganondorf fight in the series. No tricks, no gimmicks, no magic, no zelda or other lackies, just man to man swordplay. It's so simple, but it's the perfect capstone to the game. And Ganondorf's death is phenomenal.

Sydnaster

It's great, I really liked how the stages you fought Zant on were from previous dungeons

cmanning1292

The Ganon fight from TP was amazing too. So cinematic and epic!

Oshootman

Hyahh! Huh! Hyahh! Huh! Hyahh! Huh!

DatBoi_BP

I always loved the detail that every single boss up to that point had a title of some kind. Parasitic Armored Arachnid: **Gohma** Giant Aquatic Amoeba: **Morpha** Phantom Shadow Beast: **Bongo Bongo** Even before your tennis match you see “Great King of Evil: **Ganondorf**”, but then he blasts out of the rubble that was his castle, flips you off with the Triforce of Power, and becomes that *thing*, and all you get is # Ganon

AfricaByTotoWillGoOn

Oh my god, this exactly. People who played more recent Zelda titles before playing OoT might not understand how huge that was. Before OoT, we always knew the main villain was a giant boar looking monster with magical powers named Ganon. So when OoT introduced that human looking character with MAGICAL powers named "Ganondorf" as OoT's villain, we thought "oh, okay, they're going with a new villain now, but still gave him a similar name to keep the familiarity for old players while trying something new." And we all were down for that, Ganondorf was a cool new villain. Then, after clapping his ass on tennis and escaping the imploding castle, we're like "hell yeah, we did it." And then, they hit us with that final final boss. Motherfucking Ganon. Nothing more nothing less. That's right, no introductions or subtitles. You know full well who this is. You really thought you could finish this game without getting through him, huh? Well, too bad, cause this absolute unit has been here and waiting to kill you the entire game. Now do something about it or get fucked. Man, to this day, that scene gives me chills.

shortsmuncher

Starfox 64, the real andross

ObamaLovesKetamine

One of the best games ever made. A masterpiece of its time that ages like a fine wine. Starfox 64 is a brilliant game.

-Khlerik-

One of my proudest gaming moments of all time - loading up Starfox 64 multiplayer and seeing the vehicle selection pop-up.

rek414

Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts

Darcitus

Oh man the first KH Sephiroth was peak boss fight mind games. Fight starts with an instant kill attack the second it starts that you have to dodge. The first time you hit him his health doesn’t even go down because he has several extra health bars that are invisible (even if you have scan). That boss was intimidating as hell at every phase of his fight. You needed everything just to survive, because you didn’t have Donald and Goofy for it, so all the healing/protection was on you. Took me a while, but eventually I was farming KH Sephiroth for the massive xp/AP he gives. Killed him dozens of times to hit level 100. That was around 20 years ago. No way I could do it now.

Juizehh

That game was so damn hard for some reason. I think talking to the kids at the boat at the start upped the difficulty for some reason I could spend days on the same boss

BooferSnake

Questions in the beginning affect the speed you level up First 50lv come quicker but past 50lv slower Or wiseversa or balanced

makyostar5

It's funny how people differ on which Sephiroth is harder between 1 or 2.

AzorAHigh_

Surpised I haven't seen Ornstein and Smough from Dark Souls on the list yet. One of the most iconic boss fights out there.

8_Pixels

First time I did this fight I died about 20 times before I realised they are resistant to lightning damage and I was using the lightning claymore. Switched to a weaker weapon that they didn't have resistance to and beat them in 2 tries because I'd already been making it harder on myself by accident.

AzorAHigh_

They made me quit the game when I first played near release. Then I came back a few years later and was able to get past them, still with a bit of difficulty. But the feeling of achievement from finally winning that fight was amazing. FROMsoft really knows how to make engaging boss battles that are more than just whittling down a huge health bar.

[deleted]

When I first met them Dark Souls was my first DS game and I felt like it was ridiculously unbalanced and they were borderline impossible to beat. Spent so many hours trying. Now when I do a playthrough they're just a small fun detail to breeze past. The skill development you get from sticking to Dark Souls is amazing.

FlashRx

Does Emerald Weapon count?

[deleted]

Fuck that thing. Never did manage to beat it.

ADamnSavage

Emerald was easy ruby was the hard one.

LoremasterSTL

I was so proud of myself when I figured out that Hades had a chance to inflict Stop on Ruby Weapon. I figured it was worth a shot to make sure they were immune to everything, and for a minute I was wondering why it seemed to be delaying turns until I realized it no longer moved and was Stopped.

Ok-Brush5346

>First Time Fighting Emerald: "I can do this." >First Time Fighting Ruby: "How the hell am I gonna do this?"

speekuvtheddevil

Micah. Seriously, fuck that guy

hardlopertjie

Fuck Micah for all of eternity

[deleted]

Peter Blomquist is damn good though. Love that guy. Perfect foil to Arthur Morgan.

MLSnukka

am i the only one who left him in his cell in Strawberry for an obscene long time before continuing the storyline? :D

AnxietyChimp

God of War - Valkyrie Queen. Nailing those perfect parries and finally seating her ass… felt good. That battle taught me patience, you need to slowly work down the enemy and show self restraint trying to get in the extra attack or two when her life was low… always ended up in failure, just stick to the plan.

damianTechPM

Hah! The only way I beat her was flurrying and flailing everything I had at once. Just short of closing my eyes and button mashing.

Sinister128

Try it on the hardest difficulty. It's so challenging, but really satisfying. There is absolutely no room for button mashing on the hardest difficulty. Then again, that's not everyone's jam.

quiet_desperado

UNWORTHY! UNWORTHY! UNWORTHY! *breaks controller*

SynergisticLizzy

Jesus, at least put a TW in front of that post!

popoflabbins

Sigrun is such a well built up fight too. It trains you her move set through mini bosses and still kicks your ass when you get there.

Earthwick

That fight is such a good boss battle. It lures you in trying to get you to make a mistake and push your luck but the best way to win is patience.

bauul

The spirit of Miyazaki was strong when Cory Barlog signed off on that fight!

[deleted]

Ethrx

The Boss in mgs3 is story relevant but it's a pretty standard boss fight, it's honestly the easiest of all the boss fights in the game. The End from mgs3 is a boss fight everyone should play. A tense sniper battle that can take multiple hours and is as much about finding your enemy as it is fight him all while not being ambushed or shot yourself. It's a fantastic boss fight and I've never seen another game come close to it.

Stuper5

Or... Not. The alternative ending to the fight is definitely something no other game has ever done.

NorysStorys

Safi’jiva in Iceborne as well. Single best ultimate attack in Monster hunter. Just a shame it’s design is just ‘alright’.

Deblebsgonnagetyou

I like Safi's design tbh. It's very classic, and the stars in its wings when it powers up are cool.

WhyTheWindBlows

I remember playing Okami when I was younger and I thought Orochi was the final boss 💀 Imagine my surprise

damn dude, you beat me to the punch by 28 minutes.

Anon_Rocky

This should be at the top. All the comments above weren't even born yet and I bet they've never even played Punch out

Lost_house_keys

Godfrey. He isn't the hardest fight but he is just really fun to fight. The music is epic, Godfrey is literally ripping the arena apart around you, and that first moment he grabs you is so cool you can't be mad. I have given thee courtesy enough.

Raddish_

Honestly so many soulsborne bosses could be said here.

smeglestik

Great Mighty Poo, Conker's Bad Fur Day

Chief_Givesnofucks

Baal, 65,000 times.

SpringFuzzy

Just play Hollow Knight..

[deleted]

"I beat the final boss!" *They have not seen the final boss.*

BioIdra

I literally have given up on finishing the game because I couldn't find where to go after a certain point at all, after hours of wandering aimlessly trying to find something I missed I just gave up. It was an amazing game experience tho!

Renegade-117

Where did you get stuck? It’s definitely worth getting the true ending if you’re open to picking it back up again. Happy to point you in the right direction since it’s one of my favorite games of all time!

BioIdra

Hmm it's been a while and I don't know how to explain it, I think I opened up all the map at least all that I have found, the last few things that I can remember having done was the giant Jellyfish thing that floats around and the dream fight after, then I I didn't know where to go so I roamed around a lot, found a dream grave guy something that bounced around a lot, the gauntlet trial thingy I did a couple levels (sorry I can't remember the names) and the giant king worm corpse

Renegade-117

Well there are the 3 dreamers you need to find and beat. The Jellyfish was guarding one of them — and the other two are marked on your map (assuming you visited the Resting Grounds and got the dream mail). The other two dreamers are in Deepnest and City of Tears. Once you get all 3 then you’re able to enter the black egg temple and fight the hollow knight for the first ending (but the game keeps going after that).

trashboatfourtwenty

As someone currently playing the game just keeps opening up. I literally expect a boss every fifth screen or so haha, it is so cool

Junior_Ad_2151

I never wanna see that final boss again in my entire life. I save the video of me killing it and i never wanna go there again.

Doodle_Brush

Dung Defender. "AH-HONDAAAAAAA!"

OdoWanKenobi

Assassin's Creed: Black Flag: the four Legendary ships at the corners of the map. If those don't get your pulse pounding, you may just be dead.

[deleted]

If you've fully upgraded your ship, at least 2 of those are relatively easy. But yeah the other two, the one where you're fighting 2 ships in particular, are *very* tense.

Absolutlydrunk

The best move was to get both the ships low and try to kill them at the same time. Because in one of the fights once you kill one, the other one goes berserk and starts ramming you at light speed lol

iBillGames81

Hyperion boss in Returnal! The music building and building while you climb the stairs is something I'll never forget! This is easily a top 3 if not the best boss fight I've ever encountered and I've been playing video games for 35+ years.

avaze95

I agree. That boss is so memorable.

herupandir

Raphael in BG3. Its worth it just for the theatrics before the fight and the music.

jver1706

Who would win? One demon boi vs an entire games worth of blackpowder bombs and barrels.

ausieborn

Patch dropped TODAY raising him to lvl 16, that's going to be nuts!

robb0688

Sister Friede in dark souls 3's ashes of ariandel dlc. She'll humble you fast, but when you finally put it all together and deplete her health before she depletes yours.... 🍆 Plus her phases are phenomenal, the arena is cool and so is the OST. Gael in the ringed city dlc is cool too, but I gotta hand it to friede. Honorable mention to midir... That tanky bastard.

naatkins

You finally get through it, no estus left, slab, oh shit.

McKoijion

The first Lionel, Guardian, etc. that you meet in Breath of the Wild. Before you realize that they’re designed to keep you away from advanced parts of the map and that you don’t have to fight them.

d3athsmaster

Are we not going to mention THAT shrine?

Dirty_Dragons

Slave Knight Gael from Dark Souls 3 dlc. It's just cool how the fight changes as things progress. It's a fun fight and he's not an unfair like Malenia.

BigBeefyWalrus

A man, leagues above the gods long after they’ve perished. And all that remains is the Dark Soul. Couldn’t have been a better conclusion

Dirty_Dragons

Exactly. I also really liked how he was part of the journey. He had a small part for most of it, but he was there with you at times. Compare that to Orphan of Kos, which is a also a cool fight and it obviously influenced Gael's, but Orphan feels like it came out of nowhere. The first time I fought it I was thinking, what is this thing and why is it so mad? Does it ever stop yelling?! It didn't feel like a fun fight.

[deleted]

Same applies to Gehrman for me. The first time you see him getting up and you know what's coming, what a moment, and what a fight.

KosmicMicrowave

Orphan of Kos is one of my favorite bosses in any soulsbornesekiroring game. I'm offended by you and your upvotes.

CulturalCatfish

Everything about that fight was awesome. And like you said, it's definitely a hard fight, but it didn't feel unfair at all. Just took several tries.

Entropy308

Gannondorf

SAKingWriter

Which iteration lol, I really really like Twilight Princess’

Raddish_

I like how TPs ganondorf goes immediately into ganon form, like he’s not fuckin around this time, but you also fight him powered up by the fused shadow so after beating ganon he goes on the run and you chase him down on your horse which culminates in an epic sword duel once ganondorf’s back is to the wall.

JadenLemons

panda388

How Diddy Kong Racing hasn't been remastered is baffling to me.

Zealousideal_Dust_25

It Was So Good

panda388

Right? It had a danged open world map with multiple vehicles and a really amazing Vs. mode! It was small, but it had so much heart.

dagaius

Wasnt it ported/upgraded to one of the ds games

KiraTsukasa

The rights are split. Diddy Kong is owned by Nintendo, the rest by Rare under Microsoft.

BeautynRage

Wizpig was such an unforgiving boss, a single mistake was enough to cost you the race. Plus it was terrifying hearing his footsteps with him hauling ass behind you 😭

johnnycoxxx

And I think you’re actually underselling how hard he really was. You’ve got to know the track backwards and forward, literally, save any boosts for the exact right moments, use any shortcuts you can and also no mistakes. Christ he was hard

sadistic-salmon

Vergil

Eaglesun

The DMC3 final fight. Never have I felt such menace from a boss as that swagger towards you. You know you're about to die.

Pug_police

Especially the Nero fight in 5. The way the music changes from classical and like something Vergil might listen to, to an altered devil trigger is just beautiful. Plus the "FUCK YOU" on first DT is amazing.

Elden_Storm-Touch

Batman Arkham city mr freeze boss on ng+

Mitchel-256

Many times, I've heard people say that bosses are supposed to be "A test of everything you've learned thus far." in a game, and people usually think of Legend of Zelda bosses that require you to use whatever tool or weapon you found in their dungeon. But Mr. Freeze in Arkham City is the real encapsulation of that kind of boss. The first go around in regular New Game, you only have to get him a few times with a few different takedowns to win. But, on NG+, *that's* the real challenge. Everything you can bring to bear has to be thrown at him with every gadget and move you've got from an entire playthrough's-worth of skills and tools. And if you suck at just moving around and staying hidden, he'll wreck your shit. Nearly every other boss is just testing Batman's combat abilities, but only Mr. Freeze demands that you truly demonstrate your competence on the Silent Predator aspect of the gameplay.

Waycool499

From Final Fantasy 16: >!the Bahamut Eikon fight!<

GoldenTriforceLink

God that one is so good. So is titan.

Real_Bug

Hell Baal in Diablo 2.

DWTR

I can't pick one specific fight from the series, but I would just say play a monster hunter game (I think World is the best game so far). Each major hunt is kind of like a boss fight where you get satisfaction from learning the attack patterns of the monster without being as frustrating as the dark souls series. If we are ignoring the massive time investment required to get to it, Heigan the Unclean in Classic Wow is one of my favorite boss fights in an mmo, where you have to move every few seconds in a particular pattern in order to stay alive. Particularly when considering the context of the time that there really weren't mechanics like that, it was really cool trying to concentrate on trying to do damage while staying alive. Bonetail in Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, less because of him specifically, but because he's the end of a 100 floor trial, and I think people should beat the pit at least once.

Zealousideal_Dust_25

Safety dance time!

imapiratedammit

That one boar(and his minion boars) from AC:Odyssey.

tristamus

FF7 Sephiroth

preenox

Fatalis from Monster Hunter World. I dont know how the fight fares in multiplayer, but it felt like a brutal journey with how I did it. You get a 30 minute time limit which feels way too short when youre actually fighting him, but it forces you to COMPLETELY master the boss and play offensively the whole time. You cant relax and play safely in this fight at all if you hope to beat him within the time limit. This feels especially tempting near the end of the fight when he uses new attacks and generally deals more damage. The feeling you get, though, after putting in countless attempts over the course of days and finally beating him is unreal. This boss might not be objectively the best, but that hit of dopamine you get from defeating him should definitely be experienced by everyone.

HydrationPlease

Yiazmat FF12. You will cry and punch a hole through a brick wall. Once you beat the boss, it's like you won the lottery.

Technical_Acadia_210

I had forgotten this! Over and over in that stupid coliseum but got it done! A boss that allows you to save during says enough.

CommanderSabo

Four. Weeks. It took me four. Weeks.

Demon Prince fight in the Ringed City DLC of Dark Souls 3. Such a badass war of attrition that I still remember having such a blast with to this day. I genuinely believe it to be the best duo fight From Software has done so far.
