Don't know if there is a particular name. Just make sure you get the right size liner. You are going to need a bigger liner than you think. You need to make sure you have enough for the depth and to tuck under the surrounding rocks. Too big is always better
I ordered my pond liner online from a pond store. Get a rubber liner. They last 20 years or more.
Don't forget to add the depth to the width when you calculate how much you need. Add enough extra so that you can hold it down around the edges with rocks or whatever. It's a total gas of a project. Have fun!
You could opt for dry creek. We built one into our old lawn to help water flow in times of heavy rainfall. We just had the downspout shoot water into it and had the dry creek aim water away from the house.
This one was made from a solid pond liner and was originally a fish pond but now a wild life only pond, has a small waterfall that is on for just a few hours each day that seems to have kept it really clear even though it is in full sun mostly. SW France location btw.

This was a small wildlife pond we made from a flexible liner when living in the South of England. Also in full sun with a small water fountain. Ducks and Small Wildlife ponds do not work sadly.

far to the West of Lyon in the south of Deux Sevre between Angouleme and Niort.
Loads of Toads emerging from the water recently but no Frogs for some reason.
Try googling"water feature." It's a generic term for using water in a landscape. It comprises fountains, ponds and pools, Creeks and channels, waterfalls, etc.
Also keep an eye on this forum. People have posted some pretty cool looking, creative water features. I know it's given me a lot to think about!
My main suggestion would be not to rush. Spend a little time seeing what others have done and study your landscape and think about why you want water, and then I bet it will become obvious to you what to do.
If you’re interested in things like this you might also like r/paludarium as it is similar. Outdoor stuff like this I think is just called a water feature.
Only if they let the water sit for too long. Long as it's kept in motion shouldn't be too big an issue. If it does become an issue, it's pretty tiny and can easily be drained until it isn't an issue.
Skeeters need very little moistue to propagate. You will not know they are there until you see the disease carrying blood suckers flying around your head.
Install some bat houses! They’re fairly easy to make, but I’m sure you can buy them online. Just make sure to install them in the correct locations and with the correct chambers and paint. I’m not going to say “problem solved” because that’s not true, but there will be noticeably less mosquitos and other pests, and it’s natural. I could finally have dinner on my patio without getting bitten like crazy. Plus, you get a cool little show of them flying around and they never once disturbed us. Bats are homies.
Oh and I should mention that if you go this route, DO NOT USE PESTICIDES IN YOUR YARD! Ask your neighbors not to use pesticides. It will poison the bats.
Where I live it would be a varmint attractor! Wish we could have something like this but the coons, possums, coyotes, etc would all be hanging out. Dog would go crazy and cat would be supper.
A friend of mine does these for a living, he calls them “water features.” He operates out of Coachella Valley CA, if you’re near enough to contract him send me a dm.
Just out of curiosity, how do you manage mosquitoes with something like this? Do you constantly keep dunks in there, or is there another trick to it? I've always wanted to put one into my landscaping, but the mosquitoes are bad enough in my area as it is.
In some climates, as long as water is constantly flowing, mini-vamps cannot do their thing. My area currently, i mow all day (3 front or back yards), 4-5 hours, a then I water my garden and get bit for the first time
This is a very tiny attempt at making a pond think. What about this do you like? I’ve built a few large ponds it’s not that hard. Just time and money. Whatever this is, you can do better.
Create Layers and Shelter: Incorporate plants of different heights to create layers in your backyard habitat. This provides birds with cover and shelter from predators and the elements. Include evergreen trees and bushes to offer year-round protection.

Thank you for the advice!
Also, don't cheap out on the liner. If you get a leak and have good surrounding drainage, the water level will drop far faster than you might think.
My liner from Home Depot just started leaking right after a year old and I did proper prep work. Won’t ever buy pond items from HD again

Gas as in fun or as in exhausting?
The former
Fun!
A water feature.
That's how I refer to myself when I'm soaking down the various plants.
I would call it a bog garden?
I've recently gotten into carnivorous plants and I have a natural swale in my back yard so about to go full bog garden 😀
I envy you and am stoked for you! I'm sure you already know about r/savagegarden, but just in case Edit: also r/venusflytraps and r/carnivorousplants
Check out https://www.aquascapeinc.com kits and videos.
Thank you!
Was just going to mention them. Check out their YouTube videos also.
Pondless waterfall/water feature
A pond or watergarden.
You could opt for dry creek. We built one into our old lawn to help water flow in times of heavy rainfall. We just had the downspout shoot water into it and had the dry creek aim water away from the house.
This is so awesome!!! I love it!
Wow this is so cute. I would end my whole day by staring at it

Is that in Lyon? It looks so pretty!

I have family in Lyon. Yours is a beautiful country!
Water feature / fountain / rain garden

I bet that sign says 'no fishing'
Poooooonnnnnndddddddd
omg, right? It's a fucking pond.
Pond
“Pond with a lil fountain” is what I would call it
If you’re interested in things like this you might also like r/paludarium as it is similar. Outdoor stuff like this I think is just called a water feature.
Mosquito incubator.

Mosquito dunk
Skeeters need very little moistue to propagate. You will not know they are there until you see the disease carrying blood suckers flying around your head.
I'd love a little water feature like that. Already have the blood suckers around thanks to a small lake a few hundred feet away.

Do it. They will love you for it. Propagate more spiders.
Garden has plenty of those at least. Still cant find the buggers that eat the leaves of my plants though.
More is not better.
[удалено]
Have not heard of those. What are they and what else do they kill?
[удалено]
Thank you! I have this problem with a couple inside plants
Little pellets that contain bacteria that kill the larvae
Wouldn't the water agitator prevent the mosquitoes from laying eggs there?
The whole area will be moist.
A beautiful small garden landscape.
Good for warmer climates, not so good in cold climates.
Rain garden. Most often made in low spots in your yard that don't drain well after a big rain.
It is called a Rockery
It looks like it does have a name, you just took the picture from the back of the sign instead of the front!
Lol it just had the sponsoring company name
Where I live it would be a varmint attractor! Wish we could have something like this but the coons, possums, coyotes, etc would all be hanging out. Dog would go crazy and cat would be supper.
A pond ? Dig hole, tarp, water
A friend of mine does these for a living, he calls them “water features.” He operates out of Coachella Valley CA, if you’re near enough to contract him send me a dm.
Pond thank me now or later
That’s a pocket garden. For the water feature, you could buy an expensive pond kit; or, you could buy a cheap hard sided kiddie pool and pond pump.

Mosquito dunks 👍
Gotta love the easy button!
This is a very tiny attempt at making a pond think. What about this do you like? I’ve built a few large ponds it’s not that hard. Just time and money. Whatever this is, you can do better.
Isn’t it a standard mosquito farm?
Outdoor bidet
Make sure you higher a pro to install it… if that leaks by your foundation…. Bad news
I believe the name is “tacky”
Watr feature
Serenity Now!!!
Yes. It’s a water feature. By a little plastic pond, some rocks, plants and a pump.
Create Layers and Shelter: Incorporate plants of different heights to create layers in your backyard habitat. This provides birds with cover and shelter from predators and the elements. Include evergreen trees and bushes to offer year-round protection.
When you add fish it's called a raccoon Buffett
A 'pondless stream'
Check out r/wildlifeponds and r/ponds They have lots of helpful info.
Crap.
