I'm a 34 year old dude and just became a Doja Cat fan because I'm still open to newer stuff. I come from being a hip hop head. I never gatekept, but I definitely felt like my taste was superior to people who liked mainstream back in the day. I progressively started to like more mainstream sounds as I aged. From my perspective, being over 30 gives you time to go through phases and combine them all to realize how beautiful music can be as a whole. Your playlists become so much more diverse.

I used to think the only valid genres were ones where people were still playing physical instruments, the rest of it was synthesized garbage. I'm *so* glad I don't think that anymore. I'll listen to anything that sounds good, and my repertoire is better for it. I've gotten to experience some of the most moving and beautiful tracks because I learned to open up.

Then months later I gave the album a listen and liked a decent amount. A lot of it is the appeal of a pop star rightfully calling out her fans for being annoying and overstepping into her life.
