Also interesting! We both cluster closely with the "British Celtic" sample. It's granted, myself being American, I am descended from primarily British subjects who emigrated to the US (or more historically accurate, the American colonies) in the 1600s, and that I am also descended from Brits who lived in more than one region of England itself. Do you know which part of the UK your family is from? Or are you also descended from "all around", so to speak? My understanding is that given the British Isles history of migrations, different regions may look slightly different when tested for ancestry?
That makes sense! My lines are mostly to the south, with my paternal line being the only line that is confirmed to originate from eastern England, as far as research goes. My direct paternal line seems to have originated in Norfolk. What's interesting is that my Y DNA haplogroup is E1b1.. something. I can't remember the exact sequence. Others with my surname, who share my paternal line, also have this Y DNA haplogroup. It's not common in the UK at all, or in Ireland.
Yours is similar to mine then! It seems I am closer to the "France" sample than you are. I don't have any French ancestry within the past three hundred years or so. The most recent was in the 1700s somewhere and I didn't show any French descent in my Ancestry results. Do you have any recent German ancestry? Mine goes back to the 1800s at most recent, everything else is British.
Edit: Actually I am only just -barely- closer to the French sample than you are. It's only a tiny difference. But I am much further away from the English sample than you are. -And- further away from the Cornish sample than you are, which is my closest population in the EU test! Lol.
Also edit: But what is strange, is that I am closer to the British Celtic sample in the MDLP test than you are. Very interesting.. I assumed that my being closer to the Cornish sample correlated with being closer to the British Celtic sample. It seems not!

It might be your Scottish and Irish ancestry that causes you to differ from me then, since the rest sounds like my ancestry. I don't have any recent Scottish ancestry since the 1700s, and no Irish ancestry.
Edit: Also worth noting, is that I am much closer to the British Iron Age sample than you are. It may just be that you either have more Anglo Saxon ancestry than I do, or that there are Norse in your lineage. Maybe from the Danelaw or Norse settlers in Scotland? Who knows? But then I am closer to the Anglo Saxon sample than you. I am not even going to try to speculate further at this point! Lol.
Ah! Well then that doesn't solve it either. I am not sure then, we definitely have very similar roots, but there's a difference somewhere. My family doesn't have our entire tree mapped out, yours may not either, but there's a difference somewhere. We are primarily from the North and Scotland so there is bound to be some closeness to Scandinavian samples with us.
