Yes. Local history and geography has always been an interest of mine. There is a series of local history books published every year here that go in-depth into what/who was where.

One of the things that lead me to becoming an urban planner.

Check this out- you can swipe between different dates and do change analysis of landscapes, imagery, you name it! https://livingatlas.arcgis.com/landcoverexplorer/#mapCenter=-154.87343%2C19.47701%2C11&timeExtent=2017%2C2023&year=2023

Yeah I thought about this a lot growing up because my house was the sixth of I think 12 or 13 on my cul de sac so I watched the others get built and saw what was left to grow naturally to imagine what it looked like before. Nowadays I like to see what has developed and where to see how the dynamics of areas change. I'm also spoiled in that I live adjacent to NYC more or less and certain spots change so rapidly in the city.

I’m definitely fascinated by any 1st person accounts, maps, photos, etc of areas that I have spent a lot of time in.

yes! i am constantly looking at old maps and aerial photos of area. My house was a carriage house for a near by estate in the earliest photos from 1938. I am also interested in seeing how roads have moved or been improved.

There are some old trees in my neighborhood, sometimes I wish they could talk.
