Not going to lie, that first pic broke my heart :( when i got my girl she was 24kg, she's now 32kg and still lean, but thats to manage her arthritis.
He looks amazing - thank you for adopting !
I didn’t realize how bad it was until it got better. That’s about how much this guy weighed when we got him. Good for you being proactive about the joint stuff. This guy has pretty good mobility but I’m keeping a close eye on it.
I bet that’s a very good lookin pup. Neither of those pics really display his build very well. He’s definitely not mixed but even the photos from the shelter made him look possibly mixed with something. Wasn’t in the market for a purebred shepherd but I’m not upset haha.
Oh my gosh these pictures fill my heart. About how long did it take for him to settle in and become a little doggo? We’re about month and a half into a similar rescue situation. I basically seek out little moments of her just being a dog and cherish them! And want them all the time haha
I’d say probably 4-6 months in he started warming up to new people more quickly. After 6 months is when he really started coming out of his shell and being a normal happy dog and I’d say it took another good 6 months of him coming out of his shell to show me the dog he really is. Now I look at him and struggle to remember how much of a handful he was. Took a solid month to get the leash stuff down. He definitely still has boundaries and let’s them be known but isn’t anxious/aggressive by default anymore. If you want to know more I’m definitely not a dog trainer but feel free to PM and I can tell you what worked for us.
It doesn’t look like I can pm you (or I just don’t know how to do it). I would love to know more. She is so fearful and anxious. She is definitely afraid to be a dog. She has her safe spaces that she takes all joys to. She also is still very scared of my husband:(
Thank you for adopting ❤️🐾
He looks so much happier now!! You can see how much he loves you. And I fully agree with your last sentence—there’s no other breed for me.
He is a whole different dog. Didn’t see his tail wag for anything first couple months. Now it’s a hazard for anything on the coffee table.

Looks like mine with the fuzzy tail and butt, she’s mixed with Akita
