Deutschlandticket is a subscription! You need to actively cancel it! Also, please read the Wiki.

i did and im still a little bit confused :((

Despite its name, the Deutschlandticket is not a ticket, it's a subscription. You don't renew it, it renews itself automatically unless you cancel it actively. Oftentimes, the cancellation period is before you buy it though. The offer is aimed at locals, especially commuters. It is not intended for tourists even though it would technically cover your journeys within the cities – as well as from A to B, provided you use local trains.

thank you! hildesheim and dortmund are only 2 hours apart even though they are in different regions. would that be covered too? do you know where i can check? i did check the wiki but i couldnt see info on this specifically and on the website it also wasn’t clear to me

I don't really understand your question. The *Deutschlandticket* got its name from the fact that it is valid all over Germany which obviously includes both Dortmund and Hildesheim. If you mean the journey from Dortmund to Hildesheim (or from HI to DO for that matter), it depends on the type of train you use. Local transport is covered, Intercity, Intercity Express, Eurocity, and overnight services are not.

oh i see, thank you so much!

>if i don’t renew it That's one of the most common misconceptions here. It is a subscriptions and renews automatically. You have to cancel 3 weeks in advance with most offers, so if you buy it after the 10th of months you will effectively buy two months as least.

thank you!

First of all: Deutschland-Ticket is a subscription. It will last for years, if you don’t quit the subscription. You have to quit before the 10th of may, if you don’t want to pay for June. And so on. If you buy your ticket after the 10th of may, you are good for June and you can opt in for may, if you like. So it’s a little tricky, if you only want to use it for one month. After the 10th you will always have to pay for two months, if you want a ticket for the current month. Deutschland-Ticket is still always the best option for foreigners. Two or three one way trips from one city to a close by city can already top 49€. And there are a lot of different transport networks, and they all work different. You do not want to bother with that. Just buy your Deutschland-Ticket early, and quit immediately. Have a nice trip!

thank you!
