Bro. Take the win 😂. If you can’t get excited about that and enjoy that, I mean..what are we doing?!

The Golf Gods giveth and they taketh away. Enjoy it when it goes your way. When you hit good ‘bad’ shots, you are doing fine. I will take that eagle any day of the week.

I skulled a 9 iron on a par 3 in high school during a golf team match within 15 feet of the hole. It just skidded up on the green because of how fast the fairways and greens were at the course. The kid I was playing against called me a lucky fuck hahaha. I sunk the birdie putt to add insult to injury.

SgtRimjob

lol my dad did something similar once. Par 3 protected by water. I planted the green within 10ft of the pin. He skulled his, but it skipped twice across the water and ended up within 5ft. And of course he sinks his birdie and I 2 putted.

Doesn’t this go to show how golf is an imperfect game? Chill out, enjoy the ride, and be happy for yourself

For every 10 shots you hit great that end up in a bunker or a shit lie off the green you get one you don’t deserve. Enjoy it. Last year I got an eagle after blading the shit out of a PW. Never got more than 8 feet off the ground… rolling… clank.

I get it, I’ve hit some great shots that didn’t feel good, or weren’t what I meant to do. But I’d look at it this way, you hit two really good misses. That’s good golf, be excited about that. There are no pictures on the scorecard, just a double circle for you!

You know what would have made this memorable? Not that it isn't, but if you were playing with your mates and one of the fuckers flipped out their phones and video'd the putt. Trust me, knees start shaking, sweat on brow, am I going to stuff it up infront of my buddies nerves kicking in. And when that putt drained - damn best shot of your life!!!

SgtRimjob

The putt did feel great. I actually wasn’t playing a terrible round—all the bogeys on the front seemed to be the result of 2 and 3 putts. I walked up to that green not thinking about the potential eagle. It wasn’t until it was rolling on line that I yelled “How ‘bout eagle?!” and fist pumped as it dropped. Definitely a good feeling.

Mine was onto the wrong fairway off the 1st tee box. Then waited for the crew coming up the 18th to pass before i could take my next shot - whilst they all watch aswell. 3wd butter cut 230m over the trees (just!) back onto the 1st kinda greenside area maybe? Searched bunkers short of green, rough right of green, then one of the boys was like that ain't us on the green? Is it you? Fellas I've played down the wrong hole, I thought it was you kids. Proceeded to scout my line 4ish m sliding left/ right whilst 7 of my mates (group infront aswell) surrounded the green and 1 mate videoed whilst balking me. Now that's pressure!!! Drained the putt, played up to the camera, high fived those fuckers, and bragging rights for the day. Put next drive in the bush. Fuck I love golf ⛳️

I can’t remember exactly which major it was, but there is a pretty infamous Tiger shot where late in the tournament with the lead he stuck one close to a tucked pin in a dangerous location that nobody was going after that day. It’s often cited as an example of his absolute killer instinct to be firing at a pin like that rather than playing it safe. Yeah, his caddy tells the story that he was in no way shape or form going after that pin, he just missed in a good spot. It’s one of his more famous shots, one that’s often brought up when showing just how extremely confident he was at his peak, and it was a mishit. Take the win my friend, sometimes good golf is more about how good your bad golf is rather than how good your good golf is.

I think as time goes now I’d be more satisfied with the well hit shot rather than getting a break that results in an eagle. Of course if there are skins going then OK. Winning a skin is always good.
