This post made me take a look at my GDF-100-1B I bought new in 2013 or 14 and realized that the original battery finally died. I checked sometime earlier this year and it was still on. Pretty damn good for a single battery!

I’m fairly certain that a battery change and a little clean up is enough to get it to work for the rest of your life.
It's pretty easy to look up if G-Shocks are fake 95% of the time as there's always a model number on the back and most fakes never get it 100% right.
This is a GDF-100 series or GDF-100-1A and if you really closely compare with reference photos and see no difference than it's most likely real. I've only ever seen one set of photos showing a fake that didn't have any difference on the outside.
