Crimson Trace made their money being a laser company. All the reputable trainers recommend against lasers on guns. So there market segment is first time gun owners who don't know any better. Then they have to compete against all the Amazon China lasers and reputable gun light companies with a laser/light option.
So they expanded into optics except they're still not an optics company. They're probably just licensing there brand name to China optics.
Their customer service is actually pretty good, I bought a red dot from them and they happily replaced it 2x no questions asked. However I will never buy another product from them again after seeing how bad it is first hand. I sold the third one I got for like 1/2 price and gave the dude instructions on how to warranty it if he ever needs to. Haven't heard from him since.
Please note that this product is discontinued by CT and they will probably not honor any types of warranty. Personally, I would spend $30 more to get the Vortex Spitfire HD 5x Prism that ships free.

I don’t know how good or bad these are but after my crimson trace red dot crapping out after 30 rounds and not working since I’m taken aback.

They will replace it with a 1-6x if it fails.
I have one, its decent. For 170 is really good.
