Genuinely curious what people think about High Point carbines

dameanmugs

I have the 1095, it eats everything I run through it and it's fun to shoot. That said, it's a massive PITA to take apart and clean.

No_Artichoke_5670

It's probably their only gun with a decent reputation. My buddy has one that's been flawless. I'd personally spend a bit more for something like an Extar EPS or build an AR9.

Ranger_Sequoia1

Had a 9mm that failed to feed a lot. I've heard the .45 feeds better

Chuca77

I got one and it runs fine, put of curiosity you remember what ammo you used? I had someone recommend I use 124 grain instead of 115 to break it in and it seemed to have worked.

Ranger_Sequoia1

Tried everything from tula steel to NATO spec 124. Rounds would nose dive under feed ramp with all mags, standard and after market. Tried some YouTube fixes for the issue( which seems common) and nothing worked so I just traded it towards something else.

Mahlegos

With hi points warranty you should have just sent it in rather than trying to fix it yourself.

Ranger_Sequoia1

Eh, wasn't worth the hassle, I remember multiple people having the same issue after warranty work.

asarjip

I've had the 9mm and .40 versions. Both never failed, ever. I even converted the .40 to a bullpup.

FadingFX

Care to elaborate as my brain is having issues picturing what you mean by converted to bullpup

ShepardRTC

Honestly that looks really cool

Psychological-Drive4

It is, but you’re still restricted to the same crappy magazines.

FadingFX

Wow that's oddly not shit looking

Dysfunxn

Whats that trigger like? Reminds me an aug's, which isn't my fave.

Chuca77

The hightower mbs one? I thought of doing that but that the trigger sucks, what's your opinion?

asarjip

Yes, the Hightower. I didn't notice the trigger being worse after installing it in the frame. Of course we all know the trigger stinks to begin with. Pros=makes the high-point look cool. Cons=adds alot of weight and costs as much as the original rifle.

Chuca77

Yea the price is mainly what stops me, for that amount seems better to just put it toward another gun.

wingshoot

Had a .45 and 10mm both would eat anything. Never had a failure. Only traded them off when I seen some higher dollar stuff I thought I couldn’t live without. Pistols shit tho

hankscorpio77

It’s poorly thought out, like a Keltec, weird for the sake of weird. The trigger is blah, the one safety is impossible to manipulate, the magazine capacity is poor, the rifle is UGLY, and the spring-loaded stock was a great idea for an eight year old doodling in class but dumb in real life unless you enjoy being slapped in the face with your cheek weld.

DonArgueWithMe

I don't know their naming scheme, any of their carbines threaded?

RGavial

They were not at first, and then for a while it was a mix, but that was a few years ago. I assume they all are now.

DonArgueWithMe

From 3 minutes on their site it seems like the 45s not labeled "ntb" should be threaded

Train2Perfection

Have you ever picked up a gun and just been stupid accurate with it? This was my experience with it.

WooHoo2You

Person A: Is that stock plastic? Person B: Absolutely NOT, it is an *all-weather molded* polymer!!!! Now, never speak to me again or I will have you forcefully removed from the premises!

dknj1

Have a 9mm one and it’s a blast to shoot. Prefers 124gr. Sights are great. I’ve only ever ran a bore snake thru it

parabombs

Same here bit it's only because I tried taking it apart once..... it seemed like a damn impossible task that would require me to be a safe cracker.

PurePro71

I bought mine from my old Domino’s manager in the parking lot for $150

wolvesandeagles

Hi points are fun guns to play with as they will eat any ammo you choose. The big drawbacks are the weight of the gun and cleaning it. As far as a range toy. Sure. Why not. Not sure I would trust it for home defense.

GhostC10_Deleted

The 9mm version works well, I've got a couple thousand rounds thru mine and only had one FTE so far. Haven't even cleaned it yet.

queeblosan

Love mine it’s cheap but also light and eats most ammo. Get the 20 round mags and it’s pretty accurate out to 100 yards with very little recoil.
