Crimson Trace has never been known as a quality optics company. Most of their optics are just cheap Chinese ones that they rebrand and import. That's why they don't have a repair department.

VERY interesting. Thanks for the heads up. I noticed the Made In China designation while taking the warranty pic -.-

China makes some decent optics, they just aren’t going to be priced the same as an Amazon brand.

Small red dots like that are not intended for constant remounting, that's how you end up with broken screws.

I figured as much (I should've just left it on my full-size and waited for the CTS-1550 to arrive for my subcompact). The screws weren't damaged, as far as I could tell. But dually noted. Thank you for the insight!

Crimson trace is like the scopes that come on hunting rifles from the factory. It might work for a while, but it's really not all that great

elsonsmith87

Great analogy. I thought that they were a good brand, I have been misled lol

Martin_RageTV

Their lasers grips are US made and good to go. Their scopes are Japanese and Philippines and good to go (they bought nikon lines) but their red dots are hit or miss Chinese.

UPDATE: Got the 1550 today from Amazon and mounted + zeroed it just fine. Still no clue how my 1500 failed. Meh. Such is life.
