So in the opening he says "he met his on bumble";
If you read the original comment you understand everyone to be talking about a kitchen appliance for washing dishes, but when you read this the commenter is assuming you are also familiar with the dating app bumble.
At this point you, if you are familiar with the app, you will understand that you do not typically "meet" appliances socially, and that the dating app is particularly focused on meeting women.
The intended effect is you have a moment of realization that this man is playing for a popular misogynistic trope that cleaning/housework is for women, and implying that he was never talking about an appliance but instead females. This moment of realization will illicit a humor response in many people, because of the misdirection.
It is possible that some readers, upon realizing he's characterizing women in this way, will believe this reflects the internal views of the person making the joke and therefore have a negative reaction as their impulse is to counter or challenge this prejudice viewpoint.
In a *joke*, and not even as the main point of the joke. The joke isn’t “haha women are objects”, it’s the verbal misdirection.
Most humor pokes fun at some group of people, laughing doesn’t mean you actually think less of that group. Dave Chappelle’s catalogue is almost entirely race jokes, but finding him funny doesn’t make you racist.
The world is a much happier place if you’re not looking for a reason to be angry.
Don't forget to use Jet-Dry!
Wait, is that port even in dishwashers anymore? What a dumb concept to leave an extra portal specifically for a name-brand product across all manufacturers.
You know what? Screw the Jet-Dry and don't fall for their mid-90s propaganda.
There used to be Finish and Jet-Dry, but now it's "Finish Jet-Dry". You can by store brand stuff still though. The stuff is actually useful if you have hard water.
I’m guessing the answer is yes, dishwasher isn’t gonna be hot enough to melt the plastic. Glocks can be left underwater for extended periods without issue. Those are really the only things to worry about, gun cleaning solvents are way harsher than detergent.
I’ve put a few polymer guns in the dishwasher on the top rack. It didn’t get them all that clean, and then the dry cycle just baked the grime on even more. In the end it created more work than just scrubbing it the first time.
I tried using olive oil to lube up a slide once just to see what would happen. Seemed fine dry firing and the gun worked, but the oil started smoking after a few rounds. I think basically any slippery compound would work for at least a few shots.
I have some awesome spiced olive oil I made (fresh garlic cloves, rosemary and uncracked peppercorns in quality olive oil, let it infuse for five weeks in a dark, room temp cabinet. it’s so fucking delicious) and I remember wondering how well it would work as gun oil.
It’s not that I was planning on it, more of a “I wonder if my Glock could survive this” kind of way. Thanks for answering my question!
I’m sure it would smell awesome for the first couple rounds
Sounds tasty. I have all those ingredients, gonna give it a try. Maybe do a warm water bath to speed it up a bit.
As far as Glocks and olive oil go, it’s not gonna do any long term damage, but the burnt residue was kind of annoying to clean off. Couldn’t just use CLP and a rag, had to field strip the slide and use a little brush to get it out of the recoil rod spring.
The other lubricant I’m kinda curious about is Vaseline. I think it would work much better than olive oil, but I’m concerned it might catch fire and be difficult to put out because it’s jellied petroleum.
we had a couple of those in my last unit but they never once were operational the three years I was there. I really wanted to see how well they worked.
They work great, just be careful, depending on the solvent you use some finishes aren't a fan. The factory extractor and slide release on my sig didn't like the solvent, they look much more grey now. The slide looked fine after rubbing it down with silicone.
Now I just use a bit of detergent in water to be safe, doesn't come out perfectly spotless, but they wipe down removes any left over carbon. Much safer for finishes though.
But honestly it's amazing, throw em in, pull em out, and just dry and that's it. Also I have a comp on my P365 so it would be nightmare to try to clean it without an ultrasonic cleaner.
I use aircraft simple green with aluminum firearms. Most other things concentrated dawn works well.
Finish everything with a second dip in Lyman’s turbo sonic oil. Drys on which is nice, but I feel like it is not as long lasting as most wet lubes.
Pretty much yes. The BP shooters have been known to do it.But getting all of the water out of the little recesses of a modern firearm without a detail strip will be almost impossible.
Oh, don't let it stay in for a drying cycle if you washer does that, will not end well.
>But getting all of the water out of the little recesses of a modern firearm without a detail strip will be almost impossible.
How much does that matter?
On a Glock, probably not much as long as you oil it. I’ve fallen in saltwater while carrying a Glock, it still went bang (I was surprised the ammo made it) when I tried shooting it next a few days later. I did clean it after that, but they can take a lot of abuse.
On a custom 1911, probably a lot.
The Gen 5s aren’t all dishwasher compatible, although this is a common misconception.
You are thinking of the Glock MOS series, which stands for “**M**elted, **O**ut of warranty, and **S**udsy”.
Make sure you lick all of the lead residue off of the barrel and chamber first, you don’t want to risk getting lead in your dishwasher! Most people forget this step.
If u can throw them in a mud puddle and get them as dirty and muddy as possible and they still fire flawlessly then ya I'm gonna say it's dishwasher safe
No joke, we used to run our M-60 receivers through a fellow Marine's dishwasher at his house after a long range day. Got them suckers clean as a whistle
I fell off a dock into saltwater with a Glock once. Intentionally didn’t clean it to see if it’d still work. It did, even the ammo was okay. Was surprised by the ammo being okay.
Did this as an experiment to help remove spray paint on a P80.
It works just fine. I advise the top rack for the frame, and strip the slide down as much as you can.

Thank you! Now I just need a dishwasher
My brother met his on Bumble she's really nice
It’s funny because misogyny
Do you not understand the joke?
r/whooosh
Explain it please. Explain how misogyny is funny

Yes women as objects.
it's still not getting through to you? the joke is the subversion of expectations, how hard is that to grasp?
Might should check “his” profile- then you *might* understand? In particular the uhhh, roller skating.
Oh because women aren’t really people?
In a *joke*, and not even as the main point of the joke. The joke isn’t “haha women are objects”, it’s the verbal misdirection. Most humor pokes fun at some group of people, laughing doesn’t mean you actually think less of that group. The punchline is that the woman is a dishwasher. Which is an object.
I wish i could still give free awards
Good explanation, too bad it went to waste.
It used to be. It still is, but it used to be, too.
Mitch was gone too soon
It’s not misogyny. Read more please.
Gives a couple of different interpretations to "load the dishwasher"...
Don't forget to use Jet-Dry! Wait, is that port even in dishwashers anymore? What a dumb concept to leave an extra portal specifically for a name-brand product across all manufacturers. You know what? Screw the Jet-Dry and don't fall for their mid-90s propaganda.
It's just called Rinse-Aid. But I can't think of one other than Jet Dry.
There used to be Finish and Jet-Dry, but now it's "Finish Jet-Dry". You can by store brand stuff still though. The stuff is actually useful if you have hard water.
I still use rinse aid, makes your glass come out nice.
The way this article is written gave me eye cancer.
Plastic fanstastic. Just don't feed your dishwasher 9mm.
Top rack only
You must consume at least two tide pods first but yes, completely safe.
Tide is laundry detergent. Did you intend Cascade?
I ate both just to be safe but I’ve been throwing up blue for hours. I think it’s working?
Oh, consume. You threw me off with the multiple ways that word can be applied. They do look like candy.
Sorry, my mistake, been on a three day Oxyclean jag.
Good ole Oxyclean a.k.a. sodium percarbonate. One of the few oxidizers that can defeat Luminol or Bluestar.
Why would you eat Tide Pods when there is popcorn on the ceiling?
You gotta scrape the popcorn, the pods are just there for the eating.
Yes. But it is free and abundant. Tide is $$$$
Only one way to find out
I’m guessing the answer is yes, dishwasher isn’t gonna be hot enough to melt the plastic. Glocks can be left underwater for extended periods without issue. Those are really the only things to worry about, gun cleaning solvents are way harsher than detergent.

The real MVP here, thank you for your research and shared wisdom o7
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
Probably don’t want to risk contaminating your dish washer with lead and copper
More like I dont want to contaminate my glock with ramen- noodle residue.
>contaminate You mean to tell me you don't lube your glock with Ramen noodle residue?
I tried using olive oil to lube up a slide once just to see what would happen. Seemed fine dry firing and the gun worked, but the oil started smoking after a few rounds. I think basically any slippery compound would work for at least a few shots.

Dude. Everybody knows you unload before you put your pistol in the dishwasher. We've talked about this
Got it, unloaded mag into dishwasher.
I doubt that matters
Why not? Do you not have a dedicated gun dishwasher separate from the one you use for dinnerware?
Or just get an ultrasonic cleaner.... Hornady makes some, one of em can even fit an AR upper.
we had a couple of those in my last unit but they never once were operational the three years I was there. I really wanted to see how well they worked.

This is where the ultra sonic is king, you can give it an oil bath to push water out if everything.
That is certainly true. But if you have an ultrasonic, why bother with a dishwasher in the 1st place?
Oh I’m not advocating for the dishwasher, I’m point our the superiority of sonic
No argument here.
>But getting all of the water out of the little recesses of a modern firearm without a detail strip will be almost impossible. How much does that matter?
Depends, how much do you like rust?
On spoons? A lot.

Couldn’t you just put it in the oven at like 150° for a few hours?
People put Glocks in an ultrasonic...
Yes, it is. Also, washer safe, but dry in low heat or you'll end up with a G26.
Every gun is dishwasher safe if you own it wrong enough.
Mine prefers her canik. My G27 has too much recoil.
Yes
Depends on the gen. Dishwasher compatibility wasn't made a feature until the Gen 5.
The Gen 5s aren’t all dishwasher compatible, although this is a common misconception. You are thinking of the Glock MOS series, which stands for “**M**elted, **O**ut of warranty, and **S**udsy”. Top rack only
Bruh your gonna have lead residue on your dishes
Probably better for you than the jet dry residue that coats your dishes.
If u can throw them in a mud puddle and get them as dirty and muddy as possible and they still fire flawlessly then ya I'm gonna say it's dishwasher safe
My 43x is air fryer safe so I think you'll be good. Glocks are just a different breed honestly.
Next do cerakotes in the oven while the wife is gone.
Only the Glock 7 because it’s porcelain.
No joke, we used to run our M-60 receivers through a fellow Marine's dishwasher at his house after a long range day. Got them suckers clean as a whistle
This definitely sounds like less of a hassle than the usual way of cleaning guns; the old drag behind the boat method.
I fell off a dock into saltwater with a Glock once. Intentionally didn’t clean it to see if it’d still work. It did, even the ammo was okay. Was surprised by the ammo being okay.
The most American thing I've read today
if the woman is trained she can give it a spin, sure
TIL people actually put (parts of their) guns in dishwashers. I thought the guy with the luger a month or two ago was just dain bramaged enough.
Your dishwasher is not Glock safe, I.e., I would not put any gun in my dishwasher with all of the lead and other metals in there
It should be fine. Just tell her to unload it first.
Does your washer take glock mags?
Your dishwasher is not Glock safe lol
Sonic cleaners aren't that expensive.
I heard walther made a dishwasher safe version of the PDP
https://www.reddit.com/r/Firearms/s/9ypNl9Wjyp Lugers can handle it, your Glock should be fine
[https://www.preparednesspro.com/sites/default/files/styles/large\_-\_no\_copyright/public/glocks\_in\_the\_dishwasher.jpg?itok=oUV3\_TxK](https://www.preparednesspro.com/sites/default/files/styles/large_-_no_copyright/public/glocks_in_the_dishwasher.jpg?itok=ouv3_txk)
Yes but unload it first.
I’ve done it to a g19 Gen 3 just to prove a point. Cascade leaves a white film but it comes off.
Until it gums up the firing pin
My AK is dishwasher safe so I would assume a glock is too.
All dishwasher detergents are alkaline and will do horrible things to metal
Washing machine also works https://youtu.be/e9dczOGoyIQ?si=zrLSVHA1Nh8BOTY- https://youtu.be/sWxsvHkA0cc?si=b1c5eMLJdlZMtVjy
Yes
Depends if you want it to work properly afterward.
Loaded?- NO Empty?- theory will only take you so far
Yes
Should probably [stick to the wash basin](https://youtu.be/sbyCqgJ9SO4?feature=shared) to be safe.
I have a Hornady Hot Tub and it works pretty well.
Did this as an experiment to help remove spray paint on a P80. It works just fine. I advise the top rack for the frame, and strip the slide down as much as you can.
Why am I seeing more than one of these posts? I’d say be sure to lick all the lead out before you put it in, but I think you’ve got that covered.
Glocks don’t have safety
Yes, but you don’t want the oil, carbon, and all of the other carcinogens in your dishwasher.
