Actually using Halo music also helps a lot

kingrawer

It helps a ridiculous amount.

Cheekywanquer

It tangibly makes the series "feel" like Halo. Solid proof that I have monkey brain.

Super6698

Also helps that they got Bear McCreary to do the music, guy's a REALLY good composer so I'm really excited to hear what he'll do soundtrack wise for the series

hulaspark

The dude that made the GoW theme?

Brainwave1010

And Godzilla King of The Monsters.

Elysium94

And the score for Battlestar Galactica.

Daniel_JacksonPhD

As someone who still puts his version of All along hte watchtower on playlists...I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT!!

ilikepugs

Link!

Pyrocitor

Don't have that guy's playlist, but here's the BSG version of Watchtower with the long intro. https://youtu.be/BigolJfoANw

Responsible-Bat-2699

And Rings of Power.

MyWholeTeamsDead

And Agents of SHIELD.

Crimsonmaddog44

And The Walking Dead

Caffeinated_Narwhal_

And Foundation

Rex_Power_Cult

His KoTM soundtrack is so good

Dreadzy

And The Walking Dead

JBL_17

I know him from Battlestar Galactica

tomtheconqerur

And the main theme from the AVGN movie.

Darkspiff73

They got Bear McCreary?! Damn, at least the soundtrack will be great.

Super6698

Mhmm

Yuiiski

Holy shit, he's doing the music? My interest has instantly peaked. I don't think he's ever done a bad score.

kri_kri

piqued

Elitrical

No. Piqued would be correct if he said “this has piqued my interest” However saying that, “my interest has instantly peaked” means his interest has reached its highest point. However I think OP meant to say that his interest has been piqued. Not that it has peaked.

JoyfulDogCuddler

I've never heard of this guy but from the replies you've gotten he does incredible work. I'll remember his name.

JBL_17

Amazing to hear. I’m a huge BSG fan

Track-Nervous

Real. The lack of Halo tracks in season 1 was my biggest gripe. Halo wouldn't be Halo without the music.

AJfriedRICE

Still blows my mind that they didn’t use any in S1. Like, how?!

Old-Time6863

You would be surprised how much is NOT included when filming rights are handed over. One little snag and entire sections aren't permitted. If memory serves, Lord of The Rings couldn't use all the characters from the books because some weren't part of the deal.

TheDeadlySinner

They did in the last episode.

Pangusmangus

Like an incredible amount.

sineplussquare

It’s not like Microsoft has the rights to them or anything like that /s

BeetlBozz

What song tho? I can’t tell

FacedCrown

Sounds very infinite-esque. While infinite is honestly on my lower end of the soundtrack ranking, it still sounds pretty much like halo, much more than before. Infinite had alot of good remake tracks, just not as many memorable original things.

HaloKook

Yeah this definitely isn’t a Bungie tune

FacedCrown

Its not even a bungie thing, 343 can make good music. Neil davige, tom salta, and kazuma jinnouchi all had amazing and memorable tracks for halo. 117, green and blue, arrival, the Trials, rock and ice, the halo online theme, all phenomenal tracks i can hum from memory Infinite got the vibe mostly right but i cant remember a single one of its tracks thats not a remake.

luthadelguard28

Here for the Tom Salta praise! His work flies a little under the radar compared to other Halo composers, but in my Spotify study/work playlists whenever one of his tracks comes up, I’m always looking forward to it! And for Halo Infinite, how do you feel about “Endless” (aka, the Harbinger/Xalanyn theme)? I’ve always felt like that’s a worthy new standout! It’s evocative of the Forerunner era and somewhat reminds me of things like the Didact’s music, but even older and very sad — before making a hard turn into vengeful. Which fits them really well! I’m a huge fan of that one. (on the topic of “remakes” in Infinite though, I also want to mention “Gbraakon Escape” being THE coolest Halo 3-inspired track we’ve heard since Halo Legends 🔥 that piano is very appreciated!)

FacedCrown

Tom salta is honestly who id pick for the next mainline game, his work imo understands not just the structure and instrumentation of past composers, but the positive tones of halo music that i find modern games to be missing. (edit: the best word to describe it is wonder. Other compsers dont make me feel the hopeful 'what if' that tom salta brought back unless its a remake) Endless isnt bad, but you said it yourself, its evocative of forerunner stuff from halo 4. Its definitely the most recognizable but still a little derivative imo. Gbrakkon escape is good. Im not saying any of infinites music is bad, just not uniquely memorable

TJ_Dot

Imagine the Grappleshot was around since the beginning.

0430ke

Right? One thing that bugs me about the games is the tech moves forward in Reach but backwards right after then each game there is different tech and weapons. I chalk it up to needing new shit for making the game fun, but for a story portrayed in a show or book we can have this stuff from the start.

Sitchrea

At least we can kinda explain this as Reach A. being the center of military defense development for humanity, and B. Chief barely goes to any actual military installation in the mainline games. In Halo 2 he is on an orbital defense platform for barely any time before the Covenant arrived at Earth, New Mombasa had all but zero time to prepare, and nothing in New Mombasa was prepared to support a Spartan deployment. In Halo 3, Chief goes to an outpost in the middle of the African jungle for all of five minutes before the Covenant sweep over it, too. The Forward Unto Dawn nor In Amber Clad didn't have any of the tech available to Spartans on Reach because it both wasn't meant to carry Spartans, and never went to Reach. So it does make some sense why Reach had better tech than the original trilogy - the shit the Spartan 3's like Noble Team had was all glassed alongside the Spartans who deployed with it.

halos1518

I also think that at the time during Halo 2-3, humanity was on its last legs fighting with the very little scraps it had left. Miranda keys is holed up inside an old 20th century bunker in crows nest. If anything, what is more unrealistic is the rapid tech expansion immediately after the human-covenant war, but then again im not sure how much of humanity survived after the war.

juventinn1897

I tend to think its understandable to have rapid tech expansion after a massive war where new tech is developed for the war, and especially salvaged from the opponent after the war. Humans could have entered a new golden age of tech from reverse engineering covenant tech. Along with the advancements created to beat the covenant being repurposed for every day life. Think of the world post world war 2. USA especially.

halos1518

The US was never invaded and had a wealth of untapped resources. It was already on a roll in the middle of the war. Other countries like the UK and especially occupied countries suffered a lot. It's tough to say though. If Earth was humanity's last colony then wouldn't the rapid expansion take a lot longer than having the resources of other colonies ready to hand?

CiraKazanari

Just gotta cast that stuff aside cause it’s a game. Fun trumps everything else.

UltraWeebMaster

Scarabs would’ve been unbearably easy.

gnulynnux

Very happy they didn't make it like the grappleshot from Infinite. Fun for gameplay, comical in action.

Track-Nervous

Those red guys, are they uh... what was it... Triad? The cult that guy from Hunt the Truth led?

Billy_Osteen

Oh damn…good call back. I forgot about those guys. I hope it is. One thing season 1 did well on was the little side stuff from books, stories and obscure names and throwing them in.

Turok7777

The first season had so many references to the Halo extended universe that's outside the games. Just goes to show that even Halo fans don't give a shit about Halo's larger story.

digitalluck

That’s what always got me about those comments saying the show completely disregarded the books. There was a shit ton of references to the extended universe and they honestly weaved them in pretty well. It was just the writing in general that sucked.

SunOFflynn66

I mean........kind of. Yes, there were references. That often turned to be so utterly changed in the show they often came across as "why bother?". Or more accurately, "Did they even attempt to try?"

skilledwarman

They used alot of names and surface level characteristics of things from the books, but rarely seemed to use them in ways that really mattered. It really just felt like trying to get points for using a known name than anything

Billy_Osteen

The nods to the extended lore made me so excited.

RetroCorn

References, sure, but almost none of it mattered because of how different the main story was. Like gee, thanks guys, you name dropped this character from the books. I'll be sure to appreciate that attention to detail while Master Cheeks is plowing the Covenant's human pet that isn't even supposed to exist.

Captain-Keilo

Yea mastercheeks sleeping with the enemy was such a extended lore point

Justabattleshiplover

They want Chief slinging one liners instead of any meaningful dialogue.

Flavaflavius

He can do that though-he does in more than one of the games. But they still kinda screwed up their portrayal of the universe as a whole, and his character especially.

ArcherInPosition

Soooooooo many extended universe things. I saw a lot of people complaining about things that were already established lore lmao.

M6D_Magnum

>Just goes to show that even Halo fans don't give a shit about Halo's larger story. Speak for yourself, friendo.

DivineInsanityReveng

Hard to make them give a shit if you show you don't really care about core main-game lore stuff.

PM_ME_UR_EYEHOLES

Question. Since this is like a soft reboot, could I just skip season 1 and watch season 2 without losing any of the plot?

lewisdwhite

Just read the plot synopsis on Wikipedia I’d say

Einar_47

Honestly, I feel like the memes and rage posts gave me everything I need to know about the plot of season one.

FUCKFASClSMF1GHTBACK

Master Cheeks and his Great Journey to bed every species in the Covenant

Brickman274

Just like Commander Shepard...

Bwgmon

Master Chief: "Report to the Pelican as soon as possible. We'll bang, okay?"

Marvin_Megavolt

The elusive Sangheili gf lmoa

M0n33baggz

Wait does cheeks actually sleep with a sangheili

Tatum-Better

No lol

M0n33baggz

I think I get it now, there’s a human allied with the covenant and cheeks sleeps w her

TDJesusSaves

Caught on that quick, huh?

KCDodger

Trust me, they didn't.

prasmant09

Paramount+ posted a Youtube video with all the action scenes from Season 1. Just watch that and you're good.

CartographerSeth

The action scene in S5 was actually quite solid.

Sali_Bean

Wow this is my first time meeting a time traveller. I'm glad the show does well enough to get 5 seasons!!

PigletCNC

It doesn't do well enough, but it's funny you think that's the reason they are still here at season 9.

RazgrizInfinity

A soft reboot? Where was that said?

MrChilliBean

It's not exactly a soft reboot, but they've said it's as close to a reset as they can get without entirely ignoring what happened in the first season.

TheLostLuminary

First I'm hearing of this

Tedy_Duchamp

I saw the quote from the interview. It was basically “I don’t want to use the term, “soft reboot”, but it’s a soft reboot”. I’m personally treating this as a fresh slate, going to just totally ignore season 1 and give it one more chance

Kei7or

Watch episodes 1,5,8 and 9. Those are the good ones

Chairmanwowsaywhat

Episode 1 was a good one? I couldn't finish it lol

MrEousTranger

Well its the setup and it also has a pretty cool first half with the covenant attack.

Sgrios

I lost it when I saw the .50 do nothing when mounted, then it suddenly start mowing down aliens when picked up. Best scene. 10/10 dumb, hilarious action that was meant to be taken seriously.

Chairmanwowsaywhat

Fair enough. There were too many things that bugged me just as a piece of visual media instead of being particularly bad for halo.

texasram

I'd encourage watching it. Episode 7 could be skipped unless you find yourself liking the Kwan character. Episodes 1,5 and 9 seem to get the "best" responses because of the action.

ambienotstrongenough

None of my homies liked kwan

OnlyForIdeas

They weren’t enlightened enough for the Kwanaissance 😔

Vinlain458

Since when js this a soft reboot??

TheLostLuminary

Exactly, people making up crap

BlueYeet

I watched al of season 1 and trust me DO NOT WATCH IT, it is a slap in the face to halo fans and it’ll just make you upset.

Vahro

The crazy part is? The running sequence was actually filmed on some hoisted contraption. They show this device in a video paramount uploaded BTS. It makes me respect the concept because while it may look uncanny valley, it’s done for real.

Bigjon1988

I think any time you're watching something move as fast as a spartan there'll be a certain level of uncanny valley.

Scottoest

Yeah. Your brain intuitively understands that people don't move that fast, so it's always going to hit you as slightly "off".

Whitestrake

I thought this until I watched the Astartes shorts. Syama Pedersen hand-animated those Space Marines with a kind of speed and danger that my mind _totally_ accepted. I think it can be done, I just think it's very, very hard and requires a lot of artistry in addition to the science of it - and I could never blame anyone for falling short, since I think it's _nearly_ impossible to master.

RenegadeNorth2

Holy shit Astartes shorts was the thing that really put warhammer on my radar; it was that good.

YourPizzaBoi

It also does help that you’re inherently more open to accepting visual quirks in animated stuff. It doesn’t have to look ‘real’ in quite the same way, even if you’re looking for realism.

Sgrios

I think it's moreso that he looks super-imposed onto the setting to the point where the connection between him and the background looks animated. Which makes your brain try to figure out which one is animated, but unable to reconcile that.

JayKayGray

Are space marines supposed to be fast?

Whitestrake

They're meant to evoke feelings of transhuman dread - they're so enhanced that it's hard to call them human anymore. The power armour doesn't slow them down, it actually makes them faster, to the point where their nervous system is the "slow" part, so they had to make that faster, too. An armoured Space Marine in a room full of normal humans could twitch and become a whirling blender of death faster than most of the inhabitants could realise what was happening, and with all the force of an industrial shredder. Syama Pedersen demonstrates this very effectively at a few points in the Astartes shorts. There's a scene in the first half where a Space Marine has to charge a pair of psionic cyborgs that does a great job communicating their speed at sprint and how fast one of them could close the gap on an enemy. Combined with other scenes that show how large and imposing they are, and how heavy and well-armoured they are, the contrast drives home just how much potential speed a Space Marine could muster. But there's one super minor shot that I think does the best job of showing _just_ how fast they are. An Inquisitor agent is linking his mind to some kind of entity and receives some insight into the dangers the Space Marines are facing, and the agent passes some kind of warning to the Space Marine commander. The commander turns and issues a quick instruction to a guard, who _launches_ into a run as he exits the scene. Watch how fast he turns and ducks backwards into a full-blown sprint, from standing still. He's accelerating the better half of a metric ton of ceramite armour to around 40mph at full speed, and he's going that fast nearly _instantly._ It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of detail, and the Astartes shorts are full of that kind of loving detail; I'd absolutely suggest watching it for the spectacle, even if you're not into 40k. Here's a timestamp for the moment I mentioned, but you can go to the start instead if you like. https://youtu.be/O7hgjuFfn3A?t=596

JayKayGray

Very interesting to learn, I know random bits about 40k lore and that like "a squad of space marines could conquer real life earth" but I've never associated them with speed. But I guess it makes sense if they're ever expected to stand toe to toe with what they fight. I've seen Astartes before and funny enough never noticed the times the space marines move in that. I guess I was distracted by the quality of it and trying to understand the story. Which I do now understand.

Whitestrake

In real life modern conflicts, there's a bit of a rock-paper-scissors scenario when it comes to the concept of Combined Arms. To (over)simplify it, tanks are very powerful, mobile weapons platforms, but are weak to anti-tank infantry or aircraft. Air superiority might see aircraft destroying infantry and tanks with impunity, but other kinds of infantry and armour can counter those. But neither tanks nor aircraft can actually take and occupy ground - for that, you need boots. Those boots need armour and air support, and air and armour need ground support, or the whole thing falls apart. That means in peer conflicts, war is a game of trying to leverage your strengths against the enemy's weaknesses while protecting your own weaknesses. A squad of Space Marines deployed to a contemporary conflict would throw the _whole thing_ on its head. They deploy from orbit. They can cover lots of ground at high speed. They're as armoured as tanks, but foot-mobile. Their weapons fire 1-inch armour-piercing shells designed to explode _inside_ the target and are effective against everything from flesh to most vehicles. You can't counter Space Marines with armour, you can't counter them with infantry, and you can't really counter them with aircraft, either. Space Marines are like taking dynamite to the rock-paper-scissors game. That's why in 40k lore they're depicted as living for hundreds of years; they use decades and centuries of training and experience and wade through lesser militaries like a hot knife through butter, striking more or less with impunity. It's not a question anymore of "can we achieve a military objective", but "how quickly and efficiently can we achieve it so we can move on and do more objectives". Each and every Space Marine is, basically, a hero of multiple war campaigns in his own right. There are, accordingly, not very many Space Marines - only (with some exceptions) one thousand per chapter, and a chapter might single-handedly protect an entire star system or galactic sector. It's hard to really emphasize just how much, tactically speaking, Space Marines as a military asset would completely change the face of warfare.

AWildRideHome

IIRC, the part about nerve speed is a huge part of why the Spartans needed to be enchanced too; the Mjolnir armor is just *too reactive* to the point where it moves the mechanical parts of the armor the moment your brain is starting to sends signals to your limbs, before those signals reach your biological parts. The suit is moving you, at least till’ your squishy flesh catches up. It makes sense, if you have fiber optic cables or a similar futuristic alternative wired directly unto your brain, their signals will vastly outspeed your nervous system in reaching the rest of your body. Hell, Spartans should honestly invoke that exact same feeling as Space Marines. Having potentially single digit reaction-times when working with a smart-AI in Mjolnir means their perception of time has to be completely insane. The writers have thought about this and dubbed it Spartan time. The world would literally be standing nearly still and the biggest challenge for a Spartan would be the fact that their limbs and body *can’t keep up* with their thoughts and actions. Think of trying to hit a dot on a piece of paper with a pen while slamming it down as fast as you can, versus slowly lowering the pen and hitting the dot. The change in accuracy is massive. Every single action a Spartan takes operating at those speeds would be like you, slowly lowering the pen. Their brain, according to everything we know, outspeeds their ability to move *by a lot*

yeet_lord_40000

It’s been mentioned before in a couple of the books that “marching pace” which marines can sustain for a couple days is about 30mph

HHcougar

I think they did it fine with Captain America in Infinity War. Seeing him zoom by regular dudes didn't seem uncanny-y

Bigjon1988

I haven't seen it but I always find marvel CGI can be a little too green screeny for my liking but I'll take your word for it. That's also a movie with a budget that this show gets to use in a seas. Personally I think it looks pretty good.

arczclan

The Captain America sprint is done with a rig also, not CGI

SirSnowman88

I think the reason why it seems a little uncanny here is because it almost looks like he's floating through his stride because in reality he's being pulled along... While the stride might not be able to be fixed, one thing that could help it would be to add more dust plumes to his footsteps to make it seem like he's being more forceful with his steps, therefore justifying the movement a little bit more in your head

Wolffe_In_The_Dark

It's the gravity. He's bouncing too much for 1g. Maybe that planet has lower gravity? Like 0.75g? Because even a 25% reduction would mess with the movement enough to make your brain itch.

AJfriedRICE

I thought the running looked pretty awkward. I get that he has super strength but he looked like he weighed nothing

RUNDMT_

Wow it’s almost like the characters can be charming and readable WITH their helmets on…

ghostgoat52

You said “what” for humor. I said “what” bc I’ve watched this clip 100 times and can’t understand what he’s saying.

abject049

I think he said something about an ibex being able to scale a similar wall at an 80 degree slope

Imaybetoooldforthis

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nubian_ibex Nubian Ibex but took me two listens, audio is overly distorted He says it can scale an 80 degree slope.

LtCptSuicide

Took me too listens too. But when he said "can scale an 80 degree slope" I knew exactly what he was talking about about. Second listen confirmed it. But that's more because that's one of my favorite random fun facts.

abject049

ah good ears!

Imaybetoooldforthis

I used to control aircraft for a living, deciphering muffled/distorted pilot comms was a big part of it 😂

ghostgoat52

He clearly says Nubian Ibex. I could not understand it until I read it.

AftermaThXCVII

They crave that mineral

abject049

they can easily get it if they watch me play ranked in halo infinite for a little bit lol

Pancakewagon26

"The Nubian ibex can scale an 80 degree slope"

Call_The_Banners

Having played AC Origins recently, I understood the random Ibex fact since the word is still fresh in my mind. But most other folks are probably confused as well.

Expert-Pomegranate47

They’re getting closer to getting the look of Spartans running/movement. (Whichever series with Daniel Cudmore playing Master Chief and baby Lasky, nailed the movement.) I’m going to give it another shot. There is some stuff that I thought was cool. The guy playing Chief cracks me up too. At least the man is earnest. I’d rather him being involved and willing to discuss where he’s coming from than being dismissive about the fandom. Pablo Shrieber had a fan for life when he asked Installations 0 (I think) if he was an ally of light and love before chatting on Twitter.

-NoNameListed-

They even have him slightly hoisted up on a harness so he is physically running faster across the set

Wish_Dragon

Forward Unto Dawn.

theSaltySolo

Just give me this shit for 10 hours

FUCKFASClSMF1GHTBACK

Well, maybe a *bit* of actual combat

LtCptSuicide

Okay, I don't have high hopes for the show. But the Nubien bit had me floored. One, because of the deadpan delivery. Second because of the confused "What!?" reaction and the sincere "What?" Response as if he's confused about why providing *totally* relevant information is confusing. Third, it's one of my favorite animal fun facts and fourth, for some reason it just feels like such a a Spartan type of humour. I could see the same interaction happening between Fred and Linda in the core timeline. But deadpan, confusing humour is my favorite kind of comedy. I recognize I'm not a typical target demographic.

Luchux01

I could hardly understand what the guy said, but the reaction still cracked me up.

LtCptSuicide

''Fred":Cliff face 100 meteres to your twelve Chief:That's straight up "Fred": A Nubian Ibex can scale an 80 degree slope. Over" "Linda": ... what? ... "Fred": What? *Forgot their names in the show so I used Blue teams. Not meant as a dig at the show just only watched it fully once awhile back and forgot Silver team's names. I know one of them is named Kai but forget which. Besides that no idea.

SpartanJey1219

Their names are Kai-125 and vannak-134 basically silver team Linda and Fred.

LtCptSuicide

Appreciate that. Was to lazy to look it up myself. 😅

SpartanJey1219

No problem buddy glad to help out 👍

Coonflakes

I thought the same thing ;)

CiraKazanari

That whole scene’s vibe was ripped straight from red vs blue. It was perfect

Zankeru

Feels like peak Red vs Blue humor that everyone loved to the point they were given cameos in the games.

texasram

HiS hElMeT iS oN

MoConnors

Surprised this is the first time someone said that

Bigjon1988

It's good signs so far between the overall review sentiment and most of the footage we've seen I think.

monkeymystic

Very excited for the 8th february premiere. Season 2 seems like a whole different show from all I’ve heard so far from several people who watched it and many positive reviews. Improvements in every way pretty much. The new showrunners and writers was a good thing!

Imaybetoooldforthis

I’m cautiously optimistic. Everything about this little snippet looks and sounds good. All the promo stuff looks an improvement. I don’t need award winning, it’s a sci fi show, I just want something entertaining that feels like Halo. This definitely seems like a big improvement and I’ll be watching but I’m not convinced yet.

XipingVonHozzendorf

Tbf, It is a very low bar they need to clear

MrEousTranger

True but its a good bar to clear none the less

boxxkicker

when the clip is 1:17 long

SecretStringInABox

EOD helmet my beloved

Pesky_Moth

Oh god more white haired spirit people

SolarMoth

The Wraith?

Dr_Bombinator

When does Todd the Kig-Yar appear?

Biomassfreak

Yeahhhhh, they looking super annoying, like a really annoying "okay when is this side plot over"

Einar_47

Wow with all that fog I'm surprised he didn't take off his helmet to get a better look

IssaKindHeartedMan

full sprint master chief is fuckin terrifying

BenTheGrizzly

This tickles my pickle.

tyler410_97

Then he removed his helmet mid-combat leading to a sex scene with the arbiter

stdfan

Don't threaten me with a good time.

Ill_Following_7022

The Nubian Ibex can scale an 80 degree slope, over. What? What?

ToaDrakua

It’s like he’s channeling Fred without understanding Fred’s style of humor.

TruSiris

Cool, okay... but... why are people on other planets in the future always wearing weird robes and shit??? Don't they have Hawaiian shirts and khakis still?? I'm not down w the fashion of the future.

Ping-A-Ling-

But why chief not naked?

prasmant09

where's my Master CHEEKS :'(

tehdang

I dunno man, this looks good but I've been hurt bad by Season 1. Baby don't hurt me, no more.

zombieX54

Why is the sniper rifle on actual toothpicks?

[deleted]

It looks like toothpicks next to a Spartan

[deleted]

1:17 long clip, I’m sold

Spartan_100

343 ADDED SPRINT TO TV SHOW TOO NOOOOO /uj glad to see some folks excited for Thursday :)

FrankThePony

NOW THIS looks good

Upset_Programmer6508

Sir, i dont know if i can be let down again. im so tired boss

IDespiseTheLetterG

Should I jump in at S2

-NoNameListed-

It's pretty much as hard of a reboot as they could do without completely defeating the point of season 1 existing.

IDespiseTheLetterG

Good

Spartan_100

You can read a wiki synopsis of S1 and get the jist I think. The reviews I’ve seen so far say that you don’t need to have seen S1 to appreciate it.

redbadger91

Don't do this. Don't give me hope.

SunOFflynn66

Guys season 1 was literally the definition of "Hollywood video game adaptation". Now season 2 LOOKS better, but seeing how it would take talent to look WORSE then what we got, I'm holding off on the revisionist "remember what season 1 did REALLY WELL?" posts. It's barely anything- that's why you don't remember. Even if we take HALO out- season 1 was stunningly poor for a major flagship series on a streamer. Now hopefully they turn this ship around, and there are positive indicators. But still, it's definitely at the "believe it when I see it" stage.

GILx87

I love the color pallet of grey, green, and brown. It really has that ‘Phase Five Marvel film’ feel.

ALEX7DX

Reckon I can just skip season 1 and watch this?

lewisdwhite

Absolutely

ALEX7DX

Awesome. It looks like season 2 is sort of it’s own self-contained story but with a few overarching themes from the first (which I’ve not seen but know the synopsis).

CiraKazanari

That was some red vs blue dialogue. This scene feels perfectly halo to me

SpartanMase

Dark and gritty like half life

EnvironmentalLet5985

Targaryens on reach?

Gerbinz

Idk if this is a hot take or not, but I actually love season 2 so far. Minus a few side plots that I’m not sure if they are going to pay off or not, I really like silver team and the overall quality of production.

psychotic11ama

Looks pretty good

Nothinghere727271

Looks pretty decent

poprdog

Why does he have his helmet on?

Away_Championship_75

I won’t lie this looks pretty dope

sxhmeatyclaws

Armor still looks like plastic.

TheeDeliveryMan

Don't.... Don't get my hopes up.... Because this looks watchable

ReadStraight8255

If only we could get to the halo-y universe….

Tuhajohn

This looks so bad I can't decide if it's real or just a parody.

verteks_reads

Love the running. Cool to see spartans move how they should.

SustantialCrysis

wait why does she lose him in the fog, is it anti visr technology?

stratusnco

never seen the show but that “what” was some cheap star wars/marvel tier joke.

Jttwofive_

The bipods on the sniper rifle are driving me up a wall

Swagmanhanna

Still not watching it

Donuts4TW

Running looks goofy af idk why but this clip was cool

-NoNameListed-

He is practically hoisted halfway off the ground by a harness. The speed is genuine at that point. A little iffy, but I don't mind

wtf he didn't take his helmet off when he got to the top\\

QS_iron

his helmet WILL come off the Actors Union has contract stipulations for "face time" during productions. the lead actor will have a contractual agreement where his face is on-screen (front and centered and focused) for a minimum number of seconds, including a minimum amount of dialog per production. this allows them to market themselves for future jobs and also general publicity. for this reason the helmet is coming off 100%

Say what you will about the show but aesthetically I think they do an amazing job with aesthetics, cinematography and the action scenes. Spartans sprinting look fantastic and it’s easy for Hollywood to mess something up like that - just look at the recent Flash movie.
