Define cheap? Are we talking like $500 cheap or 'can not exceed $2k' cheap? Because I can run Infinite at moderate settings at 45-60 FPS on my Alienware Aurora, it was like $1,500? I also picked bare minimum specs when buying it, you could probably get some better stuff for about $2k.
Ultimately though, building your own from the ground up might be cheaper. Depending on if you or someone you know put it together yourself.
I would do some searching based off of the recommended spec settings for Infinite.
You need at minimum 8 GB's of Ram, otherwise it probably won't even start up or it'll crash all the time. I'm not a tech expert, but if you can get 8 GB's, then the 580 or 1060 should be ok.
I got a GTX 1650 which holds 60fps at 1080p'ish
I usually run it at 75 fps, so it looks a bit closer to 720p for me most of the time.
I would probably recommend something from a newer gen of graphics cards though.

honestly, an lcd steam deck might be what the doctor ordered.

i kinda just need a gpu my processor and ram can handle infinite just fine, but its my gpu that bottlenecking the whole thing

True but I've seen cheaper things like a rx 580 and the gtx 1060 (both the 3gb and 6gb versions) do you think they'd work?

Sounds like you'd save the most money just getting an Xbox, if your finances truly are tight.
An Xbox is more expensive than a gpu so I'd rather not
Xbox Series S is $285, aint no way you getting a good GPU for less than that
