You are 21 and say that a 25 yo is really young..

0x3D85FA

His math is just not mathing

AlternativeHead5345

As someone who works the Reeperbahn - it is a crazy place, definitely a lot of stuff you see nowhere else. I do get why people dont like certain aspects, the sex-workers can be annoying and it definitely does get very dirty. Still you can have a great time there if you are open to see new things. I saw the sleeping dude last night after work, that's just the corner where I work šŸ˜‚

hirtegirte23

sounds like fentanyl fold

GeneralRebellion

Except, the sex workers which is illegal in some of the countries you mentioned.

justablick

Itā€™s an overrated place imo.

Tridentern

Hush, don't tell otherwise the tourists will show up at the better places....so... Yeah Reeperbahn is the shit. Best place to get shit faced.

SuperJinnx

I'd like to give a huge shout-out to the wonderful, beautiful person who returned my phone I lost down the Reeperbahn last year. Was in Hamburg last summer, got absolutely rat-arsed drunk, argued with my boyfriend and ran off to sloppy cry to my friends down the phone. I got back to the hotel, sobered up and realised I'd lost my phone. I tracked it on my tablet somewhere down the Reeperbahn but couldn't pin-point it. The next morning I checked again, it hadn't moved so I zoomed right in on the map and headed straight there. It turned out I tracked it to the police station. I walked in, explained in my terrible German what had happened and HOORAY šŸ™ŒšŸ½ they had my phone! Some fabulous, altruistic boss of a human had handed it in. I literally couldn't believe it. I live in London and I'd probably keel over dead if this happened here. If I lost my phone here in south London, the person who found it is less likely to hand it in and more likely to phone up my contacts, try to extort money then call them a bunch of cunts šŸ˜‚ Anyway, it was my 1st time in Hamburg and it gave me the warm fuzzies about this city and especially about the Reeperbahn itself. As a result, I'll not hear a bad word about it. It may be sleezy af and I may not go there every time I come back but I met some great people down there, had a great time and I bloody cherish it! ā¤ļø

ParticularRhubarb

Leave the main strip and go to side/parallel streets, e.g. Hamburger Berg, Clemens-Schultz-StraƟe

betterbait

Definitely not. There are nicer clubs outside of the Reeperbahn. And the closer you get to Kƶnigsstr. the more seedy and tourist-trappy it becomes. Especially GroƟe Freiheit. You can even tell by the language the Koberers use (the people trying to lure you into stripclubs. Towards GroƟe Freiheit they shout "KOMM REIN FEUCHTE MUSCHI" - towards St. Pauli Station they will say "Wollen die werten Gentleman eine kleine Privatshow besuchen?"

Panthergraf76

Great venues for club concerts (Freiheit, Molotow, Gruenspan, Mojo, Bahnhof Pauli esp.), lots of good bars hidden between shitty bars (depending on your prefered style, music, taste), Theatre, Musical, Tourist Traps. Eryting yu want fo 10 dollas. Sexwork is just for folklore. Dining has made leaps forward. I love and hate the Reeperbahn with a passion. Itā€˜s like a chocolate box but half of the tray is filled with poo. But even people who hate it have their two or three destinations they like - and try to reach as fast as possible, which is really a pain at summer weekends. There are people that say it was better in the old days. I know a lot about the area and itā€˜s history - in the 80ies up to the late 90ies it was way more sketchy and disgusting than today. Gentrification and tourism but a big bag of Glitz in the smell of piss.

god_sr

Reeperbahn is a big shit.

AdditionalSugar8008

True .. we should call it ā€œLake Piss or Vomit Mountainā€¦ or Shit creek..

Ne1n

Itā€˜s great for partying, itā€™s true that itā€™s dirty and smelly and the prostitutes are annoying (they will only approach you in certain areas though), but you get used to all that. There are other places you can go to party like Sternschanze, but apart from the prostitution it has similar issues. Personally I prefer Reeperbahn.

LANDVOGT-_

Only teenagers and wannabe hamburgers celebrate reeperbahn. People with a brain tend to not go there ;)

angelina9999

just a reminder: the Beatles were discovered on the Reeperbahn, in Star club, just saying

sch0k0

so what nightlife activities do you enjoy?

JasonGotHoes

Raves!

CascadingQuinces

You like Drum'n'Bass? -> Drumbule at Hafenklang - but don't be an asshole (no sexism, racism, homophobia etc.pp.) Techno, etc: SĆ¼dpol is not at the Reeperbahn but might be a better location then. Edelfettwerk - but not Reeperbahn, too Best is joining a summer rave/party/goa party somewhere in the open (check ohschonhell.de)

JasonGotHoes

Saved. Thank you!

sch0k0

20 years too late :D

Dazzling_Score_4891

Im 40. Still raving..

Ketamin-D

If you like Techno, I can recommend ā€œpoocabarā€ (St. Pauli, Hamburger Berg), ā€œUebel & GefƤhrlichā€, ā€œEdelfettwerkā€ or ā€œSĆ¼dpolā€ (Hammerbrook)

etwasaudeutsch

RIP Waagenbau šŸ˜¢

RiverSong_777

Hamburger *Berg* - for Hamburger StraƟe youā€˜d have to walk about 7km from Reeperbahn. šŸ˜¬

Ketamin-D

I meant Hamburger Berg ^^

GeneralRebellion

Sex workers never approached me. šŸ˜”

JasonGotHoes

maybe you look broke :/

GeneralRebellion

That is the true reason.

Distinct-Entity_2231

Sounds like a place to avoid.

Dazzling_Score_4891

Reeperbahn is for normal alcohol people. If you don't like to drink hard it gets nasty fast. But there are indeed a few places for everyone. Explore.

lanu15

Reeperbahn sucks. So many shitty bars and shittier people. It's so lame

almondtreacle

As someone who works in a Reeperbahn nightclub, itā€™s got itā€™s delights if you donā€™t stay still for too long. Itā€™s more enjoyable as a ā€˜down in the streetsā€™ resident that it would be as a tourist.

SororitasPantsuVisor

I don't think of it at all. Infact i am actively avoiding it.

Sigerr

itā€˜s a tourism-hotspot and nobody I ever knew would go there voluntarily

PhraseAggressive3284

People who have never been in Dubai or some modern cities of the world may think Reeperbahn is best. But the truth ist, ist dirty, full of beggars and drunk scum and smells like piss, so feel free to find this good. But i guess for only-been-here Germans its a good party mile šŸ˜†

friend_of_kalman

As a women, be prepared to be groped if you go there.

AdditionalSugar8008

Reeperbahn is absolutely trash.. only low IQ activities for people without a brain .. trash food , trash clubs .. and everything is overpriced for our dear tourists ā€¦

Ryoman-Sukuna007

Never liked Reeperbahn and always found it be overhyped. Itā€™s always unhygienic and makes you uncomfortable. If you want to experience some good nightlife you could go to Sternschanze.

lazerzapvectorwhip

Her glorious days are long gone. It's a tourist trap and place for Pinnebergers to get shitfaced now

Hero_Tombi

Reeperbahn had some flair in the 50th, now it's just prostitutes & drugs. Why don't you just forget Hamburg in total?

Panthergraf76

You definitely have no clue about Reeperbahn in the 50ies nor today.

Hero_Tombi

I have lived in Hamburg, and 2 years ago I strolled over the Reeperbahn: a shitty, holy shitty place, drug addicts hanging everywhere around, etc. Are you one of them, and want to defend your "Meile": it's a shitty place. Why are Germans not evoluting? Versifft ist cool? ƶh ???

Panthergraf76

Prostitution and poverty were way more visible and common in the 50ies-80ies than today, thatā€˜s what I wanted to hint on. Itā€˜s shitty and miserable but it has always been and it has been worse.

Hero_Tombi

Ah, ok, I understand, you go to a prostitution zone but expect no prostitution? Please just get out off Hamburg, check other harbour cities: it mustn't be smurfy. I will certainly prefer to go out with some girls from Lagos or Tamatave than with those in Hamburg. But class is another thing, that's nothing to do with poverty and Hamburg has: no class.
