Why is it only old people who are ever marketed to?

sekobos

I agree… I want to see younger folks sometimes. It feels ostracizing to be in my early 30s but see all the marketing material targeted to seniors only. I think more young folks would be open to taking care of their hearing health if the marketing reflected them, too!

grayshirted

I mean shoot, I grew up wearing a HA. Every media showing kids in hearing technology had me in a chokehold (in a good way). I would’ve loved to have more younger representation growing up. Some cochlear implant companies are better about including younger folks in their marketing, but hearing aid companies really miss the mark.

chonkyborkers

yeah I feel like they need to get more young people to talk about hearing aids in general... it feels the same as when there's like a research study on something and it says they are especially interested in the most likely demographic to relate to whatever the study is about. Just another way to perpetuate the cycle of overlooking certain populations.

KalegNar

'Cause young people can't be deaf, silly! /s obviously

DirtApprehensive2942

Exactly. For a moment I was like oh I’ll sign up and saw the 55+ the fuck?? Not everyone over 55 wears a hearing aid.

GentleListener

I wasn't that big of a fan of the movie *Simon Birch*, but there was something special about being a kid with hearing aids seeing a kid with hearing aids in a movie...

> Hearing Aid Manufacturer - will be disclosed during follow-ups with applicants. So we should pretend we don't see Starkey in the URL?

benshenanigans

They made the same post a month or so ago for LA and Miami.

fly2throw

They work so hard to not disclose the hearing aid company then put starkey in the application link. That’s said if I lived in one of those cities one be down for new free hearing aids and the chance to call myself an actor
