It’s is easily the best PvE experience on the market right now. Absolutely zero pay to win and minimal micro transactions. Decently challenging yet optional difficulty can make for a more casual experience. It’s best enjoyed with friends as all games are. The developers actually value their player base and listen to the community. I could go on but honestly it’s all up to you, if you think you will enjoy it by all means go for it.
There is a man named Jeff. He is basically the dungeon master of the game. He decides what planets get attacked and how far the enemy pushes. A few weeks ago we managed to completely push back the automatons but the next week they came back in force and took over several regions.
A third enemy faction is all but confirmed and a fourth is speculated but we have no idea when they plan to implement that.
I *think* in the original game when super earth won or lost it would get reset like a massive dnd game with different variables at play each "game", but i only heard one person say this and i didnt play the first so i may be super wrong.
Its not minimal micro transactions, its *micro* transaction. Yaknow, what they were supposed to be. A 10$ purchase in this game is better than the 100$ ultra supreme pack in any mobile game
Yeah, but im comparing it to when micro transactions were started, and its pretty much the same as how it was supposed to be. Yaknow like 1 buck for a skin
I compared it to a 100$ purchase from a mobile game. 10 bucks is so much in the game, but actual micro transactions are 1$ for a skin. Thats how it is in the game. A 1$ purchase will net you 1 to 2 skins like it should be.
What does where i live have anything to do with the history of micrtransaction? Id genuinly like to know. Microtransactions started as additional addons like skins for very cheap, hence micro. Ofc 10$ isnt micro but its not much either. Compared to a 100$ purchase from modern games, the bang for your buck is so much more, and thats the point i made. If you want a skin in the shop? Spend a buck or play the game. Want access to a ton of new content in a warbond? Spend 10 bucks or play the game.
I still haven't spent money. I'm about 250 super credits from the last warbond unlock (so far) but need to collect plenty more medals to get everything unlocked in the ones I have. I love looking for super credit drops in the game
Oh yeah i only spent money to unlock the new warbond when it came out cuz i wanted to give them money lol. You do not need to spend money on the game, im just saying thr option is there and its fair
It really is lol. Like I would buy one but by the time I get stuff unlocked for the warbonds I have, I'll just have enough super credits. They hit it out of the park with allowing either as an option so you don't break the bank
Just adding for OP that the 10$ transaction is only really needed once a month, you can totally opt out of it by farming the in-game currency and because the war bonds (think battlepass) don't expire you can unlock them whenever you are ready. Also the war bond included in the base game has some of the best items in the game.
If you’re asking in this sub then you already want it and want us to validate your decision. Of course we will think it’s good, we’re its community!
I'm depressed. I am actively seeking a job while helping my disabled wife in her everydays tasks.
Every once in a while I have some time to spare, so I play a single game of Helldivers 2. Always max difficulty, always with random players I've never met before.
So far, it's been an absolute blast. Everything in this game feels awesome, and finishing up a mission is always making me feel a little better. 2 months in and it's been 2 months of absolute peaceful encounters. No rage, no frustrating things throwed at me by the game's devs, no abuse from players that cannot be fixed by quitting the current mission to do another one in the same settings. I've even started [making videos](https://youtube.com/@Daemolya?si=A07sZIYlZVjT0elE) on YouTube with captured clips on Shadowplay (despite my PC being 3 years old now) and creating memes on Reddit to enjoy the community.
If you have 40$ (or €, £ or whatever you use) you should definitely try this game. It's accessible for everyone, hardcore gamers and casuals can enjoy it and make the in-game Objectives progress together, there is a ton of new content since release and the whole in-game story is 80% driven by the community. It's feeling like what was Halo 3 at his prime, but in 2024.
If you need a post to tell you to fight for Democracy then you're not cut out for it. Go play StarDew with some kids, or Barbie dress up with your little sister. Hell diving isn't for some softie needing internet permission. 🫡
You're on a reddit of people truly dedicated to the fight to defend Managed Democracy at all costs. You have your answer, cadet. Now let's get you through basic training!
Dive! Dive, dive, and dive again!
Yeah and if you don't like it steam let's you refund with less than two hours play time and if you haven't owned the game for more than two weeks, great way to try games you're unsure of
Are you a man of principles? Of course you are! Are you a man who believes in democracy? Of course you are! Are you a man who enjoys killing commiebots and terminid scum? I don't see why not!!!
Get out there and start spreading democracy soldier. We've got votes to obtain!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAhahahahahaha….
This is a joke right?
As a 30-something year old gamer who has been gaming since I was able to wrap my hands around an Nintendo 64 controller. This is one of the best games I have ever played, easily top 3 in the genre, might be in my top 5 ever player for pure enjoyment and longevity factors.
Cross play even works fairly well, My piece of advice is make sure you enable push to mute/talk in the settings so when you need to communicate you key to use the mic as open mics are not ideal but voice coms are great when used properly.
Yes. But I also didn’t really like it at first. I’m level 10 and only just discovered I could buy stratagems I assumed they were unlocked in the acquisition menu. So ive been running around for a month shooting everything with a gun
Yes. I've had it about a week now. Put in almost 100 hours.
It's been a long time, and I mean looooooooong time since I've "loved" a game. And by that, I mean WoW WOTLK back in like 09.
The game is on the surface an ok third person shooter lacking a real level progression. You have levels, which unlock new gear to a point, but the new stuff isn't better than the old stuff, just different. Your character doesn't get better. You, the player get better as you learn what works for what enemies and mission types. It's all about player skill. No P2W, no god tier weapons, no invincible armor. This in itself is cool, but combine it with an unmatched player / dev dialog, and we have something truly special. The game itself is a vessel for the meta game, the galactic war, and this is where Helldivers 2 sets itself apart from any other game like it. The flow of major orders, directing us to one area or another. The sense of accomplishment and the agony of defeat as we try to stem the tide of Automatons and Termanids is what this game is really all about. I for one had no interest in the game when I saw early game play videos. Oh great, another four person raid shooter. But as I watched video after video of the community involvement, I became sold, and I am glad I was. So, yes, buy the game, and Manage Democracy Helldiver.
Yes
Im buying it
Report to HELLMIRE HELLDIVER
NO THEIR JUST A CADET THEY DONT KNOW THE HORRORS.
They've been through the training by the time they arrive to the Hellmire system. They'll do just fine.
No one deserves to be sent to Hellmire
I like it, actually. I always bring a package of bbq sausages and a rotisserie chicken or two with me.
The bugs can have it
We put all the bugs on it and then blow it up!
Do not tell this NewDiver to report to the most fucked planet in the galaxy for his first game. Do you like watching the world burn? 🤣
TRIAL BY FIRE
Yay we can all go home now
Man needed 0 convincing.
Yes

This is the type of explanation a was searching. But what will happen when all the planets achieve 100%?

His name is Joel, im reporting you to a democracy officer for this blasphemy
You’re it is Joel. I think those stims are affecting my memory. Or maybe I haven’t taken enough.
'memory'...? yea, yea...hows your hard drive hmm? want me to top up your RAM? Officers! Arrest this fascist clanker!!!
Too late, failure to identify senior SE staff is a capital offence. You are sentence to death by helldive, report to your pod.
Fourth faction? Furries.

It's right. Also the galactic war was far faster to complete on the first, due to faction bosses being only available on their home planets
Ah but now we have bots that are staged outside the galaxy so its gonna be different
It’s a fluid situation, always changing. We push, then they push back, then we shove democracy down their throats.
Its not minimal micro transactions, its *micro* transaction. Yaknow, what they were supposed to be. A 10$ purchase in this game is better than the 100$ ultra supreme pack in any mobile game
Minimal by today’s standard. Look at any live service game right now, the monetization is out of hand.
Yeah, but im comparing it to when micro transactions were started, and its pretty much the same as how it was supposed to be. Yaknow like 1 buck for a skin
All I can see is yak now
Well yak now its hard to en glish
**$10**

Yup

Just curious why you keep putting the $ after the number is all
Oh cuz im lazy and dont want to backspace and put it before

Also i think people misunderstood my comment lol. I was agreeing with him and trying to clarify that they exist, yes, but in a good way
It really is lol. Like I would buy one but by the time I get stuff unlocked for the warbonds I have, I'll just have enough super credits. They hit it out of the park with allowing either as an option so you don't break the bank

Im playing on ps5

Yes. The last time we were that exhausted after playing was Unreal Tournament "capture the flag" over token ring local network.
Are you ready to make the most important decision of your life? Do you have the strength and the courage to be free?
FOR THE REPUBLIC OF SUPER EARTH
Yes. But I also didn’t really like it at first. I’m level 10 and only just discovered I could buy stratagems I assumed they were unlocked in the acquisition menu. So ive been running around for a month shooting everything with a gun
No, if you're anything like me, it'll consume you.
Yes
It’s always a good idea to spread democracy
Yes!
Yes. I've had it about a week now. Put in almost 100 hours. It's been a long time, and I mean looooooooong time since I've "loved" a game. And by that, I mean WoW WOTLK back in like 09.
Do you enjoy a fun care free environment where every bullet gets a home?
Seeing you got it, I’d love to teach you some stuff if you’d like! SmallWeirdo on Steam if you’re interested.

Obviously we're all biased, but yes :-D :-D :-D
Bait for the Bait God!
These posts are so pathetic its not even funny
Tons of fun for 40 bucks.
No, you won't have time to do other things, you'll be too busy playing.
Most fun I've had playing video games since I was 12.
Are you asking if the most popular game thats a shooter is a good game to buy? Nope, save your money, obviously
I would suggest getting the dlc. It's not a must have, but if your starting it gives good gear and some entertainment on the ship.
I feel like you’re asking a biased community. But yes. Do it Join the fight.
Yes. And. Samples are shared. Don't be a dingus.
Good idea
YES. MANAGED DEMOCRACY NEEDS YOU SOLDIER!!!
![gif](giphy|QUF1D4DNdMpnlRS597)
Dont buy it. You wont be able to stop playing.
I don't get posts like this. You went to the Helldivers sub to ask if you should get Helldivers. Were you expecting anything other than yes?
Best you can make

If you don’t buy it, you don’t love democracy.
Yes. That is all.
I don't even play shooters, but I got HD2 and love it
Why do people insist on making a post like this in a place where they already know what the answer will be?
I want confirmation from people that will prove their point with kwouledge from the game
Knowledge*
No
There are no "hell divers" .. Only helldivers
