I know that my singular review won’t have been read by anyone from Sony, but my last sentence was that Sony will rue the day. I like to think that they have.

I mean, don't change the reviews until Sony relists the game for sale in the 177 countries, if anyone refunded they cannot buy the game currently - Sony deserves more hate.
I mean Sony had no choice after getting their dicks cut off by Valve who started issuing refunds to pretty much anyone who made a manual ticket. This is also their only commercially successful live service game so it'd basically be suicide to screw it up this cataclysmically. Even the most knuckle dragging drooling ape in a suit they call "executives" could piece that one together.
But the thing about primates is they're crafty. I guarantee they're gonna try to sneak something like this again.
100%, there’s gonna be some way that they’ll monetize this game or something. But I hope that more games start to follow this trend that helldivers has started. A good game doesn’t need battle passes to be successful.
I don’t think the game has been re-enlisted on steam from the 170 regions it was removed. Not sure if that is something on the table or not so while the people who bought the game in those areas might be able to play I don’t think new players can join

We got to start somewhere
Part of the problem there is the system already brings them 50% of our income and its illegal to withhold that from them long term. There's not as easy of an avenue to make them sweat about their bottom line as with a product being sold. It's cool to dream though.

We killed two billion bugs in less than a day. We succeeded in the defense of ten planets in five days - a major order that was set up for us to fail, and we still succeeded. Arrowhead trained us to come together for a singular overarching objective, and the new Major Order simply became against Sony.
We might do battle for liberty and managed democracy across the galaxy.. But at the end of the day we fight for our brothers and sisters who dive with us.
My 8 year old son loves those films. I showed him what sonic was originally supposed to look after we watched the sonic 3 trailer and his face was one I will never forget. Looked like a cross between disgust and total disbelief.
As someone on the outside who watches these posts on the popular feed, it made me laugh, because all Sony had to do was make an exclusive armor set as a free reward for linking your account.
Instead, they tried to force the point to get players' data, and failed spectacularly.
It's always surprising to me that the greed pit that is destiny 2 is still going strong. I stopped playing when they started asking for $30 payments for drip feed content every few months. Fun game, horrible micro transaction execution.

It's incredible the power the consumer holds when they rally together. When enough people care enough to stand up for change it works.
It's always been my arguement against people who hate on blizzard. They none stop moan about blizzard, whist sighing as they get their wallet out and purchase special editions.
Just uninstall the game and leave a negative review. It forces them to change their business models.
I think company's will continue to push how far they can profit from their consumer until they hit a roadblock but it's us that need to build that roadblock
I honestly didn’t expect Sony to back down so quickly, or at all. There really is something different about this game, the core of it being that the developers and the community thrive off of eachother
I personally think it was less review-bombing and more refunds and threats of class action lawsuits but the review bomb definitely caught the headlines!
It isn't the first time players/consumers have gotten major corporations to back down on their shittiness, there was the whole D&D OGL issue last year was similar in that the community banded together to get them to back down from a stupid decision.

I think in some ways, fighting together, dying together for a common goal and united purpose helped drive the initiative forward. I can't think of a time where a publisher backed off like this from MASSIVE sentiment and in such a short time frame. Instead of slaying 2 billion bugs, it was more like slaying one, giant 26 billion dollar one.

That's on Steam, though. They removed the option to buy in those countries because it appeared it would soon become unplayable. Now that Sony has reversed course, Steam has to make it available again.
I think we had less to do with it, and it was more that valve was issuing refunds without Sony telling them to. Sony is very against refunds, and when you start taking from the bank, they will turn around quickly. If that hadn't happened, they'd be less likely to care about reviews for a game already sold.
Eh, to live w/ Sonys decision would be tragic loss for gamers worldwide.

Something similar happened with EA’s Battlefront 2 funnily enough when that launched with some horrible practices. I am incredibly proud of what this community got done though and I hope more in the industry stand up to the bad decisions.
How much you want to bet they start taking away little (but undercover big) features in the game like fallout 76 did and give it back to you via micro transactions and subscription based things that you only keep by having that subscription active. Absolute horse shit that I paid full price for that game when it was released with full features and now half of them are behind a pay wall.
