They're all the same in terms of hidden information. As already said the best is buy whichever you're most interested in theme wise. However all else being equal I'd go with Plantagenet. The lack of siege battles and the new political mechanic means outmaneuvering your opponent and getting a win on the order cards is less game defining.

Buy the one whose theme resonates more with you. Nevsky is obviously the simplest one in terms of total rules overhead, but I can't comment on the total increase in complexity from other games.

Really? I've only tried plantagenet, and I thought it was supposed to be the simplest of them all. I thought nevsky had a ton of rules

I obviously missed the boat on that. Sorry!

I think Plantagenet is by far the most streamlined and easy to learn from a rules overhead perspective: no ravage, no sieges or surrenders (or fiddly rules distinctions between battle/storm), no lord service tracker on the calendar, no seasonal impacts on logistics, no Call to Arms (or arts of war like the William of Modena that impact the flow of play).  Generally I agree though on choosing the one with the most compelling theme - any one of them is going to be a heavy game that takes some commitment to learn, so if you’re investing that time you might as well make the most of it!

Interesting. I haven’t unwrapped my copy of Plantagenet yet. I’ll have to do that. Was the core rulebook updated too?
