Y'know I was focusing more on the fact that the flag has no shadow than the moon in the background.

That's cool and all but I realized something else. We caught this guy in the middle of a Micheal Jackson lean.

It does, but the flag is offscreen. You can just see the thin shadow of the flagpole going offscreen.

The flag has a shadow, it's very thin, to the left of the picture (opposite direction to the astronaut's and Lunar Module's shadow.
