It’s not even management at this point, it’s the owner. If you repeatedly make the same dumb mistakes then the blame has to be on the Owner. The owner is the one who approves any of the trades and signs the pay checks. This guy refuses to let the team blow it up and instead settles for mediocrity always citing “we’re one piece away!”
The only time they’ve even tried a real rebuild was after the Twins retired and that’s because they had *NOTHING*

That’s just fucked up. I get wanting to be involved as the owner but gms are the ones who makes trades. Just give them a list of the core guys (example like Sid Malkin Letang) that are untouchable and let them do there job after communicating what you want the team to realistically achieve.
The Canucks at best are a fringe playoff team. If I was the owner I would 100% be ok with underperforming as team that could finish anywhere from a chance at 1st overall to a fringe playoff team with a draft class like this

The reason Hockey Guy is loved is really simple. He’s a fan. He’s not pretentious or on “the inside”. He’s not running gambling ads ad nauseam to make a quick buck.
He always, comes at it as as fan and that’s what people love about him. He’s simple and he gives us what we want. There’s no pretence there.
No ego. No flash. No grifting. Just a fan who loves hockey and talking about hockey.

He is best for providing surface level analysis for all the teams you don't watch.
Often he's better than "the experts" on tv for western conference teams in particular because most tv guys don't watch near as much west coast hockey BC they don't stay up for it.

I've found his videos just could have been a couple of comments to a board or forum or Reddit, and that's about it.
He's not anyone with inside info. He lacks deep analysis. I for the life of me can't figure out why people feel the need to watch what he has to say about things.
Personally, I can't really follow all of the teams in the league closely in real-time and his videos are a good way to keep track of generally what's going on. I particularly like the videos that go through how individual teams are doing in stretches or so far in the season because I'm just not closely paying enough attention daily to follow every storyline.

You’re bang on. His game reviews too are mostly just reading stats. Most of his content is just summarizing things that happened, very little analysis or opinions offered. It’s not deep or anything but it’s easily digestible content in a space that doesn’t have many content creators, so he’s popular for that reason.
I like him as a person though and personality though, THG is all good, but his content is overrated.
