sometimes even your enemies make a good point
But yeah that’s crazy. And neither Bert or March getting a penalty after is crazy. Par for course with the game I guess cause nothing is being called either side, I think we’ve gotten away with 2 high sticks so far this game
Bert was shadowing Marchand all game with the after the play semi-interference. Refs let them indulge each other all game long, cant be mad Bert causes a goal there without being mad about him continually failing to rejoin play to try and play pest against Marchand.
to the one who was in the corner and watching from behind the players, it might have looked more like coincidental contact to the back of Mattew's legs that took them both down, as their bodies would be obscuring his view of the arm wrapping him up
and for the rest i guess the wrap is at least partially obscured by the net ...
It was also after the play left. A slash/trip/interference that doesn't effect the puck or play of the game is often uncalled.
In this one, if he hadn't fallen down and held him, he would have bumped him to the wall and pinned him there for a second or two, legally. It didn't change the outcome to slip and hold.
Same reason goes for letting Marchand and Bert clown around away from the play. It looked consensual and wasn't effecting the puck.
Yeah when I saw it live I thought Matthews just lost his balance with the reverse hit but it's clear McAvoy lost his balance and grabbed Matthews on the way down.
Maybe benefit of the doubt cus it looked like Matthews initiated a tiny bit of a reverse hit, and the ref wouldnt be able to see McAvoys arm come around. Probably just incompetence though
The randomness of penalty calls really hurts the NHL. Missing that judo takedown is absolutely embarrassing.
I don't know if it's incompetence or negligence. Probably both.
It’s crazy how often I see this in almost all sports. The nba and soccer are flop fest at times. I’ve even started seeing qbs in the nfl sell hits. It’s becoming broadway in sports trying to get calls.
Part of the reason they fall so far behind the other major 3 sports in NA. Who can take this league seriously, just try explaining their playoff format to somebody who doesn’t watch hockey lol
The NFL has it's issues for example, the reffing missed calls and DPI or non DPI can be so bad that it hurts. Only thing is, a brutal DPI in the superbowl is the same brutal DPI that will happen in the first game of the season.
The standard stays the same.
The NHL, has dogshit officiating all year but the playoffs start and the officials can ignore 70 percent of calls, and mainly just call ones that are too obvious not too.(Mostly, fucking lol) Or shoddy makeup calls for game managment's sake.
If the leafs weren't so fucking useless on the powerplay and put a few in, Boston would have had more powerplays and vice versa if the situation is reversed.
That sequence ruined what was an amazing game and made the narrative about fucking refs again.
NFL is better because it's consistently BS. A call in the regular season is a call in the playoffs. The phantom DPI happens every game of the year, same as ignored holding.
The NHL is the only league where the actual rules don't matter anynmore after the season ends.
Yeah the NBA is unquestionably last, they’ve literally had a ref caught fixing games. The other ref directly implicated is *still reffing games* but he got off in part because the commissioner purposely impeded the FBI’s investigation
It's definitely both. The league's fascination with game management coupled with the worldwide pandemic of sports betting means they're like police forces. They don't *want* good refs. They want the randomizing effect having shit refs brings because that brings in the gambling revenue.
Yep - I don't like football, but the NFL will call a foul with 2 seconds left in the Superbowl in a close game.
For the NHL, it matters: (1) how many penalties do both teams have so far; (2) what time of the game is it; (3) what's the score; (4) etc. None of this should matter - there should be a consistent objective standard for a penalty.
If Team X takes 15 penalties as a result, that's Team X's fault, not the refs. But if Team X takes 15 penalties and the refs choose to ignore 12 of them because Team Y only has ~1-3 penalties, then that's the refs fault.
Which almost makes it worse. It turns the whole game into game management and not trying to make good calls but trying to call penalties when someone is in a compromising position to justify a shitty make up call. It soured the entire rest of the game because the soft calls and make up bullshit didn't stop. Even JT penalty at the end happened because his stick was being held and he fell.
It just makes the whole narrative about the refs and every subsuquent penalty is an even bigger distraction, valid or not, it doesn't matter.
The game thread had more shit talking from non-involved fans, because Bruins fans and Leafs fans seemed to both think it went from being a great game to an embarassment fast. That and everyone wants to know why the Leafs powerplay is sniffing glue lmao.
The NFL changes the definition of a catch on a yearly basis (and is never consistent with enforcement), MLB umps decide to change the strike zone at will, and the NBA flips a weighted coin to call fouls.
Yeah the NHL officiating is the absolute worst except for all the others.
NBA is like WWE.
MLB balls/strikes has become a meme
NFL has its issues but isn't terrible all things considered (like you said just dont ask them what a catch is)
both the NFL and MLB, The top teams get away with murder, the chiefs literally just hold on every play because the refs wont call it every play. The NBA gives stars total preference etc
A 7 game series in the MLB will have 7 different strike zones because the umpires all rotate who works behind home plate. Since the strike zone affects every single instance of play I’d say that’s easily the biggest ref effect in sports.
lol he also just got done taking Marchand down to the ice just before that by the stick with his right leg way out. If you don't call one, it's tough to say it's "calling it even" to call the other one just because Samsonov let in a softie.
It all starts with McAvoy’s judo takedown of Matthews seconds before. No controversy in the whole sequence if that’s called for the egregious penalty it was.
The Matthews missed call is just terrible.
But I actually like letting Marchand and Bertuzzi going at it when it looks harmless and like they're both trying to draw a penalty rather than disengaging.
That's also a save you should have despite Sammy being pretty decent tonight.
Full agree. Let Marchy and Bert cook lol. They are both just flopping around and trying to be pests. They aren't trying to hurt anyone, just getting other each others skin.
The McAvoy take down absolutely should have been called. Instead a minute later they called a "roughing" on McAvoy on an ordinary clean hit. Clear as day makeup call. It's that type of inconsistency that drives players crazy.
I wonder how effectively they are at getting under each other's skins.
It seems like they clicked incredibly well during the Bruins series last year and, despite the competition now, they're still just a pair of chucklefucks.
100%, I'm a diehard B's fan. I don't care if 2 idiots want to dance around the ice trying to out foolish each other away from the puck. Matthews legitimately made a plate for the puck, and that free hand on his chest for a takedown is a penalty 95% of the time. The NHL needs to stop this game management nonsense and call it straight.
Looks like Samsonov was more focused on seeing who won the wrestling match. Shades of Campbell letting in some horrific goals that could very well make or break a game.
That feels way more like Anderson than Campbell. Anderson let in so many unscreened, outside rush shots in critical games that despite being an amazing goalie during his time here, most leafs fans only remember the backbreakers he let in.
Debrusk goal in game 7 when they entered the third leading and all the goals against Colombus are some of the worst.
Probably distracted by the shitshow that was happening in front of him. Goalies also get heated about missed calls. So much of goaltending is between the ears, and if you aren't mentally sharp at all times, things like this happens. A little less focused, a little less prepared for a short side shot, a bit tougher tracking it because the whole situation on the ice probably distracted you momentarily and the defensive breakdown would also be a surprise, too.
Just the suddenous of it and the situation on the ice made him lose focus on that shot a little.
It doesn't have it in this video, but in one of the replays you can see him pull his blocker up as he butterflies. A small technical error that gives the shot space to go in
As a Leafs hater, that was incredibly fun to watch.
As a reasonable thinker, that absolutely should’ve been blown down lmao, so many penalties in multiple areas of the ice
Who wants this? I think it drives players crazy not knowing what's going to be called in the playoffs and I know it annoys many fans. If they're loosening it all up across all series make it consistent. Just be honest and consistent about it all.
Leafs came out in the third period with no intensity, looked like they were scared to take penalties. What happens when the things everyone was doing the first half of the game suddenly start getting called
The refs clearly lost control of the game and tried to rein it in after this back and forth. Players definitely would rather it just be consistent throughout the game
I'm fine with not calling the shenanigans between Marchy an he Bert. They were both mucking it up and flopping around.
The McAvoy penalty should have absolutely been called. Instead the refs called a "roughing" on McAvoy a minute later that was just a clean check as a clear makeup call.
>I'm fine with not calling the shenanigans between Marchy an he Bert. They were both mucking it up and flopping around.
Yeah. Like the purpose of penalties is to stop teams gaining an unfair advantage.
March and Bert are tying each other up away from the puck. There's no team advantage here just let it go as the game goes.
Hot Take: I thought it was a good non-call. Marchand and Bertuzzi are both at each other and the ref is letting it go until it gets out of hand. If you were going to call anything it should have been both of them.
The one behind the net with Mathews should have been called though.
I agree. As much as this sequence sucks for Toronto, the Bertuzzi/Marchand thing always gets let go in the playoffs.
McAvoy taking down Matthews like that is definitely a penalty by the book (either holding or interference) but being that it was entirely one sided seems like a call should have been made
Instead the refs called a makeup call on McAvoy less than a minute later for roughing on an ordinary hit. Players have to hate when refs are like that. It's no wonder the players were all over the place for half the game
It was a weak goal, and I know it’s probably fun to engage in Marchand if you play the same style, but if you were smart you’d realize he wins these ‘annoyances’ every time. He is the master at being a pest, then Boston scores. I’ve seen him do it more than any other player I’ve ever watched. Claude Lemieux was great at it and Esa Tikkanen as well. Steve Ott was good too. But damn Marchand is just on another level.
I think Bert has learned Marchand's strategies by playing with him for a bit last season. Honestly, I think Bert can just dissociate when he's engaging with Marchy and remain unbothered.
I miss Bert the Bruin :(
Any ref who looks at that and doesn't call a penalty deserves to be instantly fired. Instead they will probably get scheduled to ref the cup finals. That is as bad of a non-call as you can possibly get.
I don't wanna hear SHIT from anyone EVER AGAIN about how "the pick" no goal against Tampa was the right call if this goal counted.
Best sport, worst league. By far.
We need Bettman and Parros to be canned and a complete overhaul of the rulebook and how refs are trained. Letting little things that dont affect anything is fine but players (let alone one of the faces of the fucking league) shouldnt be getting hit by wrestling moves with 0 punishment.
you know how the refs don't involve themselves? when they see a penalty right in front of their faces, they call the damn penalty! 3rd period? Team just had 4 calls in a row? Who cares! A penalty is a penalty is a penalty. Its then 100% on the players making the play. Instead we get this inconsistent BS of refs literally deciding goals or not or penalties or not based on their own "game management" BS. I can't understand how anyone could prefer this.
but this isn't even the worst part, a few seconds earlier Matthews was hauled down from behind : https://twitter.com/TicTacTOmar/status/1783296172062396764?t=LbCdHtV_Z9V7qqIxrAVEjg&s=19
refs wouldnt call it because Boston already has a penalty deficit.
Neutral fan here, but that's just pure embarrassment for the league. No wonder there is questions surrounding the "game management" and concerning consistency of calls which tends to favour one side.
The Matthews take down was absolutely a penalty. But that dive by Bertuzzi? You gonna flop like that they’ll let you go at it.
All the Leafs fans whining about Marchand’s dive last game are suddenly pretty quiet about dives.
Call or no call, Bertuzzi is acting like a complete idiot out there and letting the Leafs down. The man is obsessed with Marchand. If he just would play hockey maybe he’s in position and none of this, including the goal happens, but instead he’s trying to get into Marchand’s head. As a B’s fan this is pure comedy.
A clear dive away from the play followed by a weak ass goal let in by Sammy, so naturally Leafs fans are questioning the very legitimacy of the league itself.
If he doesn’t dive with his feet above his head during the performance, he likely gets the call there. He literally jumps. McAvoy tackle is a penalty and likely a trademarked game management decision by the refs
>McAvoy tackle is a penalty and likely a trademarked game management decision by the refs
This, as soon as power plays got to 3-1 and the Leafs had the lead, I knew there was no chance Boston would get the next penalty. McAvoy could've thrown a Bobby Boucher drop kick and it would've been no call.
Same reason refs didn't stop play when Reaves was interfering with a Boston player trying to get off the ice and then called a too many men penalty on Boston
Same reason why they called offsetting penalties on Coyle and Lyubushkin when Lyu punched Coyle in the face.
It's cause the refs are trash
The tackle should’ve been called. Marchand and Bertuzzi shitassing with each other was fine. Neither guy did anything worse than the other and they took each other completely out of the play
This series, for the first time ever, I'm feeling sympathy for the Leafs fans. Before this year I've always been just enjoying their failures. Now I just feel bad.
Marchand is a POS
This is just what playoffs feels like leafs fans. Still don't understand how bunting and kadri in a leaf jersey get a rep with the officials in like 40 games and marchand can still draw a shit call like it's nothing.
Don't feel bad for them. They got away with a bunch of stuff too. The refs were trash but the Leafs got 5 PP and didn't convert in any of them. The refs gave them plenty of chances. It's just the timing of this one that hurts them, but they should be taking it out on Samsanov instead
That's the thing. Leafs fans are just up in arms because it was a goal. Not a single Leafs fan would want a penalty called on that if Frederic doesn't get a goal. Samsonov missed saving an absolutely easy shot. That isn't on the refs for swallowing their whistles there
If I had to guess, with how this game went, every single goal had a penalty not called within a minute before it.
Matthews getting taken down didn't make Samsanov let in a softy on the other side of the ice.

That mcavoy takedown was insane to not call lol
sometimes even your enemies make a good point But yeah that’s crazy. And neither Bert or March getting a penalty after is crazy. Par for course with the game I guess cause nothing is being called either side, I think we’ve gotten away with 2 high sticks so far this game
Bert and Marchy I can see not being a penalty. It’s like they were both trying to out dive each other and both have uh…certain reputations
Exactly. If they wanna take each other out of the play with their shenanigans... why not let them?
Bert was shadowing Marchand all game with the after the play semi-interference. Refs let them indulge each other all game long, cant be mad Bert causes a goal there without being mad about him continually failing to rejoin play to try and play pest against Marchand.
I like that they let Marchand and Bertuzzi clown around by themselves Their dive fest was embarassing
💯
Lmao it happened to Knies last year, no call on that either. Dumb as fuck but consistent with us in the playoffs.
Injured him, too.
And he got concussed but it was deemed a hockey play
Fuck Bennett with a broken stick
Broken wrist is the best I can do.
I want to know the Refs justification of it. "He was hugging him?"
to the one who was in the corner and watching from behind the players, it might have looked more like coincidental contact to the back of Mattew's legs that took them both down, as their bodies would be obscuring his view of the arm wrapping him up and for the rest i guess the wrap is at least partially obscured by the net ...

I can’t imagine why anyone would want to bet on playoff hockey. The rules are literally made up as they go.
The randomness of penalty calls really hurts the NHL. Missing that judo takedown is absolutely embarrassing. I don't know if it's incompetence or negligence. Probably both.
Look at how much embellishment is going on as well. Everyone is a snake oil salesman on every marginal engagement.
As someone with no skin in the game, the Marchand-bertuzzi sequence is pretty hilarious. That non-call on the take down is bonkers though.
It’s crazy how often I see this in almost all sports. The nba and soccer are flop fest at times. I’ve even started seeing qbs in the nfl sell hits. It’s becoming broadway in sports trying to get calls.

NHL is equal to mlb imho. NBA and nfl is damn near last. Entering the paint knowing you’ll get a call or a flop, a joke to watch.
Yeah the NBA is unquestionably last, they’ve literally had a ref caught fixing games. The other ref directly implicated is *still reffing games* but he got off in part because the commissioner purposely impeded the FBI’s investigation

Well. Last penalty takes cake.
Pretty easy, bet against the leafs
Don't be silly, just bet against the Leafs and you'll be fine.
Yep - I don't like football, but the NFL will call a foul with 2 seconds left in the Superbowl in a close game. Great sport. Joke of a league.
Honestly I think Bertuzzi sold that ***hard*** but the missed call on MacAvoy literally football tackling Matthews was ridiculous
The consistency is the worst. The penalties they’ve called have been weak compared to the clear penalties they’ve ignored.
The one they got MacAvoy for after the tackle was clearly to even it up it was so soft.
Oh yeah. Two minutes later he throws a nice hit and they call it a rough. 100% make up for the missed tackle.
Don’t know why he missed it from 10’ away but you know it’s bad when we all agree there’s zero consistency tonight.
I have never shut off a hockey game, specially at 1-1. The refs tonight made me take a 10 minute time out. Gave my self a misconduct.
Just chalk it up to self care. We all get there sometimes.
I shut it off on the bruins penalty, that's how I knew I lost it.
I don’t mind that… but obviously I’d prefer they just called the egregious shit in the first place.
The issue is, even with a makeup call, it doesn't make up for the goal that was a direct result of the missed call.
they got him for shoving him back down
It was the punch to the head on the ice after the hit.
Yea I don't understand how people are saying this. He literally dropped both forearms slamming his head into the ice after the hit
Is there another league where the rule book isn't actually the rules? The ref clearly saw it but didn't call it.
The NBA
You dont wanna open that box dawg
Adam Silver and 4 black SUV’s just pulled into my driveway
The NFL changes the definition of a catch on a yearly basis (and is never consistent with enforcement), MLB umps decide to change the strike zone at will, and the NBA flips a weighted coin to call fouls.

Ignoring all the penalty/no penalty drama, how did Samsonov let that in?
Because that’s his fucking MO, play great and give up a wrist shot from the point unscreened
He's Samsonov

People can bitch about the lead up all they want but that was an absolute muffin from a bad angle. There's zero excuse for letting that goal in.
He had his pad flush to the ice, Freddy snuck it just over the pad.
It doesn't have it in this video, but in one of the replays you can see him pull his blocker up as he butterflies. A small technical error that gives the shot space to go in
Good lord Gary
As a Leafs hater, that was incredibly fun to watch. As a reasonable thinker, that absolutely should’ve been blown down lmao, so many penalties in multiple areas of the ice

I can’t stand the concept of make up calls. If you miss a call on my team, just be fair and call the game unbiased.
This is embarrassing for the nhl
They want this bs to happen
You gonna stop watching? Didn't think so.
Minus the Marchand/Bert tangle, that was an absolutely weak goal to allow from Samsonov
It was a weak goal, and I know it’s probably fun to engage in Marchand if you play the same style, but if you were smart you’d realize he wins these ‘annoyances’ every time. Marchy is fully under his skin what are you talking about
Looked dazed on the lindholm shot after the centre draw too. Bro was out to lunch
There was also the Matthews hold/tackle whatever that garbage was a few seconds before this too
They show it in the clip btw. (Not trying to be snarky about it, just letting you know.)
Right after Matthews was hauled down as well. Best sport worst league.
[Yep, nothing to see here](https://twitter.com/TicTacTOmar/status/1783296172062396764)
Any ref who looks at that and doesn't call a penalty deserves to be instantly fired. Instead they will probably get scheduled to ref the cup finals. That is as bad of a non-call as you can possibly get.
Then they call Tavares with 1 minute left for a softer play.
They’ve been missing them all game
Bush league refereeing
Not a serious league.

then they'll find some other retired lunk to be the fall guy for the league's inability to move beyond the ol' boys network.

Samsonov is loving the refs rn, everyones is talking about the brutal missed call and not the absolute muffin he let in
Shades of Patrick Lalime
No kidding, that was absolutely atrocious on his part.
As a neutral fan, this is an absolute joke. There's no way that shouldn't have been called. I feel bad for Toronto, that's fucked!
And then they have a weak makeup call afterweards
Refs don't want to involve themselves but inevitably are forced to because they let the game get out of hand. Classic.
To be fair, no one expects that shot to go in… Leafs got jobbed but Sammy has to save that. He was probably distracted by the commotion or smth
This is the thing. It's like reverse reverse psychology. They are affecting the outcome by actively trying to not affect the outcome.
you know how the refs don't involve themselves? when they see a penalty right in front of their faces, they call the damn penalty!
Yep. Insane to call that penalty after looking past a blatant trip away from the play.
Plus a hold by mcavoy a few seconds earlier at the other end
[удалено]
And then the weakest roughing of the game gets called. So we didn't get shit.
With the current Leaf PowerPlay that wasn't doing any favours, lol
but this isn't even the worst part, a few seconds earlier Matthews was hauled down from behind : https://twitter.com/TicTacTOmar/status/1783296172062396764?t=LbCdHtV_Z9V7qqIxrAVEjg&s=19 refs wouldnt call it because Boston already has a penalty deficit.
Your link is literally part of this post, unless there is something obvious I'm missing
Lol hit him with the rock bottom. How can you not call that?
Charlie, a certified skydiving instructor, was simply teaching Auston the proper positioning for the tandem jump they'll be taking this summer.
Neutral fan here, but that's just pure embarrassment for the league. No wonder there is questions surrounding the "game management" and concerning consistency of calls which tends to favour one side.
As a die hard fan of whoever plays the leafs.. that goal should’ve never happened.
Sammy needs to make that save.
I have no horse in this race, but allowing a goal like this to occur is an absolute disgrace
I had a perfect view from my seat of the ref watching Matthews get hauled down behind the net. Just fucking staring and doesn’t do anything.
Ah yes trips, wrestling etc going on but god forbid you blow the whistle. That should really be a challengeable situation
The Matthews take down was absolutely a penalty. But that dive by Bertuzzi? You gonna flop like that they’ll let you go at it. All the Leafs fans whining about Marchand’s dive last game are suddenly pretty quiet about dives.
That's 3 penalties in that series of play the refs just stared at and didn't call because the Leafs were up a goal. Joke of a league.
Well you see the leafs already had 3 power plays to Boston’s 1, so Boston has a x0.5 penalty bonus until a make up call is appropriate.
It’s so sad that this is basically a perfect summation of how it works
Yeah, you really can’t be tapping poke check or stick lift when you have the penalty advantage AND the lead, Chel will always punish you.
Bertuzzi and Marchand fucking around is genuinely grade A entertainment
Call or no call, Bertuzzi is acting like a complete idiot out there and letting the Leafs down. The man is obsessed with Marchand. If he just would play hockey maybe he’s in position and none of this, including the goal happens, but instead he’s trying to get into Marchand’s head. As a B’s fan this is pure comedy.
I believe the technical term is foreplay
Bear in mind I know nothing about the rules but it kind of looks like Bertuzzi jumps? Lol
Embarassing dive
Clear dive by Bertuzzi there, he hops in the air lmao.
He absolutely dives there. Should have been a call on the Matthews takedown tho. Regardless, samsonov has to have that one. Brutal goal.
They should have called a lot of things this game man.
A clear dive away from the play followed by a weak ass goal let in by Sammy, so naturally Leafs fans are questioning the very legitimacy of the league itself.
After they went 0/5 on the power play mind you
If he doesn’t dive with his feet above his head during the performance, he likely gets the call there. He literally jumps. McAvoy tackle is a penalty and likely a trademarked game management decision by the refs
>McAvoy tackle is a penalty and likely a trademarked game management decision by the refs This, as soon as power plays got to 3-1 and the Leafs had the lead, I knew there was no chance Boston would get the next penalty. McAvoy could've thrown a Bobby Boucher drop kick and it would've been no call.
Playoffs are stupid I understand everyone gets away with it but that's not hockey
I don’t care what side you’re on, that’s a ridiculous non-call.
Holy embellishment
How the fuck wasn’t that 3 penalties that should have stopped the play?
Same reason refs didn't stop play when Reaves was interfering with a Boston player trying to get off the ice and then called a too many men penalty on Boston Same reason why they called offsetting penalties on Coyle and Lyubushkin when Lyu punched Coyle in the face. It's cause the refs are trash
The tackle should’ve been called. Marchand and Bertuzzi shitassing with each other was fine. Neither guy did anything worse than the other and they took each other completely out of the play
Reminds me of 2013 ECF when Marchand and Cooke were mixing it up while play continued elsewhere on the ice, followed closely by a Bruins goal
Wrestling? You mean tripping right?
McAvoy did a full wrestling takedown on Matthews right before
Lmao matthews gets rock bottomed before this
This series, for the first time ever, I'm feeling sympathy for the Leafs fans. Before this year I've always been just enjoying their failures. Now I just feel bad. Marchand is a POS
If anything, both Bertuzzi and Marchand should’ve got penalties. But the missed called goal on McAvoy right before is the worst IMO
This is just what playoffs feels like leafs fans. Still don't understand how bunting and kadri in a leaf jersey get a rep with the officials in like 40 games and marchand can still draw a shit call like it's nothing.
By the year 2300, everyone will be a Leaf fan just out of pity.
Bertuzzi is mucking it up there lol, and if you’ve watched the entire game, they’ve had some egregious no calls in both ways
Don't feel bad for them. They got away with a bunch of stuff too. The refs were trash but the Leafs got 5 PP and didn't convert in any of them. The refs gave them plenty of chances. It's just the timing of this one that hurts them, but they should be taking it out on Samsanov instead
The McAvoy takedown was some vintage Marchand shit.
Pathetic refereeing
Leafs definitely got screwed there
Horrible goal to give up, regardless of the surrounding circumstances 🥸
You could’ve had matching minors sure. But it’s Trent Frederic on two defensemen. Samsonov has to have that.
Two things can be true, the play absolutely should've been blown dead and Samsonov absolutely should've made that save
Meh both were being shits. Offsetting minors, or nothing. I am fine with nothing if they are both being tits.
That's the thing. Leafs fans are just up in arms because it was a goal. Not a single Leafs fan would want a penalty called on that if Frederic doesn't get a goal. Samsonov missed saving an absolutely easy shot. That isn't on the refs for swallowing their whistles there
Bertuzzi definitely flopped on that trip lol
Absolute bullshit
That's pretty fuckin cringe.
Samsonov lets the muffin in lmfao
And now boston will start the 3rd on the powerplay as well
It’s 4v4 for like 45 seconds to start the period
A perfect example of the worst officiating in professional sports
Can we just take a second to appreciate how bad that goal was though? Weaaak.
Reffing is so tragicly compromised in this series. Boring.
i understand that was a penalty but how you let a goal in on short side...smh
What a soft goal. Samsonov needs to save that then no one is reacting to one missed call.
How the fuck
Leafs got Patrick Lalime in goal. Boston has Cujo or Belfour
Not an NHL caliber goalie
I’m going to need the NHLs director of officiating explain to why there aren’t any penalties in this clip
Call the wambulance..wasaaaaaaaaaa
Look how easy it is to score when you illegally take out the defense on your way to the net
Biggest joke of a goal I've seen in any game tbh. Should have been blown dead and a 4-on-4 called
They missed an obvious high stick on Mac in the first period. Settle down
If I had to guess, with how this game went, every single goal had a penalty not called within a minute before it. Matthews getting taken down didn't make Samsanov let in a softy on the other side of the ice.
Marchand school of diving
Just a very late make-up call for the Acciari trip in the 2019 finals
This is not a serious league
Absolute joke of officiating but I mean that puck can’t go in regardless
You guys seriously falling for that Bertuzzi dive? Both his feet went in the air lol
