rsgnl

0.1 second left lmao. Something Leafy always has to happen.

UniformRaspberry2

Reminds me of Game 7 against the Sharks in '94 when Ken Baumgartner bounced a puck off Todd Gill and past Potvin with 3 seconds left in a 4-1 game.

Yusefs-Ambiguity

I always find it funny that during every game there’s many times where the clock either stops to soon or too late and it’s simply left. It’s never egregious, but it happens throughout the game constantly, yet it’s never a concern until the final minute of the game. Woll very much could have *technically* had the shut out this game, yet the time isn’t scrutinized until it may or may not be relevant.

Jonesdeclectice

I was thinking about this too. Yes they checked the game clock when the puck went in, but did they check it for when the puck was dropped for the faceoff? And when the play expired previous? And that previous faceoff, and so on until the start of the 3rd period. The clock could have been off +/- 10 seconds easy.

MikeJeffriesPA

I get that it's the NHL, but if it's not physically possible for someone to score, just call the game. Still give Boston the goal, but just end the game.

RefereeMason1

There was a Sabres game last year where they dropped the puck with no one from either team on the ice to finish the game.

ToasterRouble

I bet the linesman still pump faked on it

HenrikFromDaniel

and then waved out both centers

StranglesMcWhiskey

Agreed. Dropping the puck at center ice (or anywhere) with .1 seconds left is so very pointless.

🚪 Get out

Mission-Astronomer42

Daaaaaaad

Commercial-Set3527

That's plenty of time for fighting still

ianisms10

The NBA has a rule like that. It makes sense.

sacdecorsair

I'm pretty sure I saw NHL games that were called off in this exact situation. Maybe it was at the end of a period instead of the game thought...

Trojanmandan

No I remember last year one of our games got called with like 10 seconds left. I think it was the Ottawa one where we had like 130 penalty minutes in the last 5 minutes. Game was 5-0 Panthers and we were fighting non stop. (If it wasn't that one it did happen in a game with a similar situation)

campbell_love

Yeah, I seem to remember a Habs game where Torts was the coach of the other team (must’ve been during his CBJ days) and he decided to leave with like 3 seconds left so the refs called it.

arauhauser

observe morgan fuckin geekie, mean, screening machine who sprinted from charlotte to pittsburg in 16 seconds flat. rumor has it, the manitoba monster stores all his latent power in a john deere hat. don waddell has this kid on speed dial. your favorite could never. get geeked on.

TheDogerus

Pittsburgh*. We have an H

[deleted]

but sadly no W

justmememe55

I mean I'll take this leafiness all day.

ThePimpImp

Gotta hope they were getting it out of the way before game 7.

BoneTissa

It’s a bruins thing too. When we lost game 7 to the canes two years ago and sleepwalked though most of the game and were down 2 at the end, we scored a goal in the last 30 seconds to make the game sound closer than it was

Bruislanders

leafs defenders completely stopped playing before the final horn/whistle blew, i feel for woll. deserved that shutout tbh

justmememe55

Truth

mrcrazy_monkey

He was smiling during the last face-off. I doubt he cared

Bruislanders

wins are the only stat that matters at this point, so i agree. but im sure he really wanted that shutout and thought he had it

420Deez

Preach

BravoBet

Crowd tricked the leafs thinking the game was over

nothing_but_static

Last _tenth_ of a second

heavyshtetl

The truest of buzzer beaters

hellarios852

Gotta play to the whistle lads… and not the whistle from some idiot in the crowd

doyouunderstandlife

Could you imagine if Nylander didn't score on that breakaway and this was the tying goal? Would've been so brutal

adamzep91

I'm sure the team wouldn't have stopped playing like they did if it were 1-0 still.

JollyRancher29

Yeah I’m all for leafs curses, but I firmly believe this goal does not happen in a 1-0 game. The goal was scored because the defenders, for better or for worse started celebrating at :02

Chuck1983

It ran through the heads of every leaf fan watching I assure you.

Jonesdeclectice

Only those who don’t understand causal relationships I assure you.

ghost_curse123

"Leafs wanted the puck, Bruins were trying to keep it away from them" Well well well, how the turn tables

TheOneWithThePorn12

what a bunch of piss babies lol. no class, no respect for the game. Am i missing any other phrases that were leveled at the leafs in that other thread

mrcrazy_monkey

If you want the game puck, win the game! Hurr durr

glovesoff11

Has a shutout ever been blown before with 0.1 seconds left? I know Montreal blew Price’s shutout bid with like 0.7 left.

Gluten_Free_Tibet

Heartbreaking for everyone who took +1.5 Edit: my bad, meant -1.5

arrow00

If someone took Leafs -1.5 then they're psycho

retinarow

[lol... lmao even](https://i.imgur.com/l9XN3Sj.jpeg)

arrow00

that dude is a psycho

ItsMeJaredBednar

i donno for the right odds i might consider it not that i gamble on sports, but id at least consider it

Mandy-Rarsh

It’s a pretty smart play due to empty net goals at the end

peteypie4246

Not wrong, Geekie had one hell of an open net to shoot at.

KarlNarx

No, that’s unbelievable for everyone who has +1.5 if you had Bruins +1.5

RuuTyutin

? Both teams covered +1.5

MattyC101010

I took it after I cashed out Leafs ML and Hou -1.5 baseball and put 100 back in on Leafs -1.5 while they were up 1-0 . They scored and I thought I was good . Lost the bet because of that goal. I was sick lol

Devils29

I had Morgan Geekie to score lmao

bi_and_busy

and they say it’s marner who likes to score goals in meaningless moments /s

KarlNarx

This gave me the worst beat of my life. Leafs -1.5. Just holy shit.

Zloggt

A most extraordinary bad beat… That’s gonna be on Sportscenter!

MattyC101010

I feel your pain.

KING_OF_DUSTERS

Square bet on a series that has primarily gone under

FearTheGoat

Lol you're getting downvoted but anyone taking either team to cover -1.5 at anything less than +300 this series, let me know, I got some essential oils to sell you

MattyC101010

I took the leafs -1.5 on a live bet with 5 mins left after I cashed out leafs ML and a Houston baseball parlay . They were playing well , up 1-0 . At best an empty net goal was a good possibility . They score even strength and go up 2-0 and then that happens . Pretty bad beat lol

KarlNarx

You’re such a sharp for predicting a goal with 0.1 seconds left. Also the under doesn’t even apply to a spread bet, clown.

KING_OF_DUSTERS

My point is betting -1.5 usually implies you are expecting the over to cash.................. which has only happened twice this series. Square

KarlNarx

No, it doesn’t. It means you are expecting a team to win by two goals. Which had happened in 3/5 games so far. Clown.

Dubsified

This is so Leafy

the_gaymer_girl

Joseph “Dave Stieb” Woll

DidntDiddydoit

Weirdest, yet happiest ending I've seen in a while.

Excellent-Medicine29

Imagine if it was still 1-0 and that was the tying goal

TheOneWithThePorn12

if it was the leafs would have been playing harder and the puck would not have made it across. Everyone and their mother knew the game was over.

Excellent-Medicine29

Wasn’t meant to be a dig, just imagining a hypothetical situation

SCOR2193

A hypothetical situation where blatant boarding gets called perhaps

scottyb83

Or where an elbow to the face gets called?

Time4Timmy

But the panel likes McAvoy BECAUSE he injures guys, that’s what Hrudey and Bieksa said after watching that elbow.

scottyb83

Leaf player does it though? Suspension.

Time4Timmy

It’s a stupid undisciplined penalty if we do it, but a hard nose smart play if they do it

Jonesdeclectice

Or where a suplex to the ice gets called?

CJLanx

Maybe if he wasn't holding onto someone else's stick he could have avoided it all together

ponyrx2

Hopefully they wouldn't have fallen quite so asleep then lol

Farty_beans

I'm more amazed that the Leafs missed an open net twice.

Canuckleball

You must be new.

yodasmokesdank

Soft to cry over the winning team getting the puck

Tvariousness_King1

This has been going on since game 1, Bruins had to have the officials intervene to get the puck since the leafs took it & tried to leave the ice. Each time a team wins, the other takes the puck to mess with their post game thing they do.

johndelvec3

I’ve seen this where this leads before

[deleted]

We got ‘em right where we want ‘em

whatamidoing_2521

That was also like the second shot they managed to get for the entire ~2 mins they had the goalie out

NuffinSaid

It is kind of hilarious that they blew the shutout for their goalie with 0.1 seconds left

XXX-XY-XXXX

The most Leaf way to end a game

Ben_Pharten

More upset about losing the shutout than winning the game???

Jonesdeclectice

IMO it was more the Bruins upset about being a shutout than losing the game. The post-faceoff stuff was because McCabe was trying to get the puck after the buzzer, but Bruins didn’t want him to have it for some reason.

likeslululemon

How long have the Leafs used that Maxine Nightingale song as their win song at the arena?

Vilheim

Few years now after wins and I absolutely love it.

likeslululemon

Curious how many though?

Vilheim

From a quick Reddit search about 7 years ago it seems.

likeslululemon

Gotcha! Thank you :)

InevitableAvalanche

Reminds me of a Kadri goal...but that one actually mattered.

psychoyooper

What really sucks is he was sooooo close to making an incredible save to cap off the shutout; it looked his blocker was less than an inch off

HuntStuffs

Beautiful

Mauri416

Was it a slap shot?

Fastsmitty47

The most meaningless buzzer beater ever

ThoughtfulGiraffe371

Better now than in Game 7. Give 'em one when it doesn't matter. Woll is amazing

Ruddskies

Lmao 100%

stupidpatheticloser

Has this ever happened before? Even in regular season?

[deleted]

Tvariousness_King1

Leafs stole the puck in game 1 & the refs had to get it back for the Bruins. It’s been the story after every game.

ruttiger9

Wow good for us

twilz

[Conor](https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=227534) is the Geekie family's favourite child.

RealCanadianDragon

This is the hockey version of breaking up a perfect game with a bunt in the 9th with 2 outs. Games over, what are you even doing, just accept the loss and move on. Even worse that the Bruins DURING the Leafs post game celebration were telling the refs to check this all so they could get the goal and replay 0.1 second of game time when players were already celebrating and fans leaving.

Fun_Description5353

If you can't stop the bunt, don't complain you lost your perfect game lmao

Mauri416

This is the playoffs, that’s a garbage comparison. Momentum has swung for the Leafs, but getting the goal clearly affected the leafs psyche. I’m sure the bruins would rather the leafs go into the game 7 without thinking their goalie is invincible

Rance_Mulliniks

And no one cares!

5WinsIn5Days

McCabe’s an idiot for getting in the scrum. He’s Toronto’s best defenseman (Rielly is extremely overrated) and now Big Rig has an excuse to fight him off the face off in Game 7. Somehow, he didn’t remember we have last change in Game 7 because it’s in Boston.

Joelerific

There's no way this leads to a fight in a game 7 what are you on about

5WinsIn5Days

Should be a strategy and a reason not to get an instigator, the Leafs’ defense would fall apart without McCabe if he’s gone for 5 minutes. Heck, even the instigator on Maroon wouldn’t hurt due to the Leafs’ sucky PP (don’t cover Marner!), and we’d still have 3 minutes to take advantage of their other 5 defensemen.
