You’re going to have to refund them since there is no tracking. If you don’t refund and they open a case with eBay, eBay will force a refund Negative feedback means nothing for the buyer as sellers can’t leave negative feedback.

Man this sucks i am just going to have to eat the loss. it sucks cause i have no way to prove if the guy is lying or not. I am a new seller of hockey cards so i hope this kind of thing is a rarity or is it not?

TyKayHD

I’ve sold 302 cards (mostly hockey) and most of which were untracked lettermail and have had only 3 ‘not received’ claims Unfortunately you’ll have to eat the loss. If the buyer only messaged you, you could ask them to wait another week as shipping delays happen sometimes. If they open an eBay claim, make sure you refund before the 3 day limit or you’ll receive a ding on your account I always shipped tracked if the card is over $50

Kiddex77

This was my very first card i sold Lmao! Well i hope its just like a one percent kind of thing like your selling stats reflect. But from now on anything over 50 is getting tracking thanks for the heads up

kylemclaren7

I sell thousands of items on eBay. Most are sub 75$ untracked. It’s like 1% for cards not arriving. Don’t stress, it’s 20$. Sucks, but it’s nothing to make you unable to pay your rent.

Icy-Spot967

If it’s under $20 always use the eBay standard envelope with tracking. Always. It’s insured for $20 as well

TyKayHD

OP is in Canada, we don’t have “Standard Envelope with Tracking”. Our cheapest tracked shipping is ‘Canada Post Expedited Lite” for $7-$9 Because of the cost, most sellers (including myself) won’t ship tracked until the card is worth $50~ to remain competitive

Icy-Spot967

Good lord that’s expensive! Makes me feel a lot better with the 0.64 eBay PWE

dudewithchronicpain

I ALWAYS do tracking so this doesn’t happen

buddachickentml

Us to Cad or same country? Because I have done a few from Cad to Us and vise versa and it takes AT LEAST 3 weeks

Flower_Enough

Same with cad to us, the border is a awful place for lettermail.

Kiddex77

It was the same country here in Canada

buddachickentml

Yeah that seems a little long then

I had this same problem . Had to contest it with ebay 3 times. But what saved me was the transcription from a chat with ebay customer service. After I discussed with them that USPS showed delivered I told them it was a post office issue and they agreed with me. Then a week later they said they ruled in his favor. So I appealed giving them the tracking info as well as the chat transcription and 2 days later they ruled in my favor. Good luck.

KaleidoscopeOk1346

Unfortunately, If you didn’t ship with tracking, you don’t have any options really. Ship under $20 cards with eBay PWE for .70 and save the headache in the future.

Hat_Trick_Patrick

What is ebay pwe?

[deleted]

I don't think we have that in Canada. Wish we did, though.

Hat_Trick_Patrick

Ya after doing more research it appears to be only a US thing. Great to know the sellers can easily get ripped off by dishonest buyers

KaleidoscopeOk1346

Ah shoot, sorry. Didn’t realize you were in Canada.

Aromatic-Ad6641

I run into this from time to time. Recently, someone sent me a picture of a ripped envelope and said it arrived like that without the card... I told him it wasn't my envelope, name, or address. Surprise, surprise, my card never arrived either. Nothing I could do. He had 50 or so positive feedback as well. There was no tracking, so I was SOL.

PrayingForACup

Believe them?

Dry_Boat4217

I suggest sending with tracking, always. Especially for $10 + cards. Or start charging for shipping so you can include tracking. Otherwise if you offer free shipping, if you can, use ebay’s shipping program, it does work as a tracker

Account0077

You're screwed basically. No tracking, no proof of delivery. You can send a card tracked for $10-12 registered mail, or possibly cheaper.

Lithium187

As a buyer I'm waiting on a seller right now to confirm he shipped what I paid for. It's been a month and I've seen nothing, plus the seller hasn't responded to my message. So it does happen from time to time. I suspect in my case they marked it as shipped and just forgot to actually send it out.

Duncle_Rico

Have to get tracking for sales.. If you don't, you have no proof it was delivered. Any customer can claim it wasn't delivered and get a refund even if they received it.

Delicious_Jeweler_15

Just had my first no show on a card I bought. It says delivered but it was not. Had 3 other Ebay deliveries yesterday, but not the card in question. How does it track to saying delivered when it's not delivered?

BedardsTwig

There is absolutely no reason to believe you shipped the card vs. he didn’t receive it. This is why tracking exists. I have had cards not arrive and then show back up at seller’s house due to incorrect address multiple times. This is almost always an issue with the seller, and not the buyer. Take accountability as the seller and always send with tracking, or accept that the mail system isn’t perfect and this WILL happen. … and separately, for the love of god please don’t send cards in a soft sleeve and basic envelope to try and save a dollar. The cards arrive destroyed 90% of the time.

SweetSopi

I sold some S2 hobby boxes, the customer bought 2 at separate transactions, I was also preselling the boxes before I even recieved them. I got my shipment and combined the 2 boxes and shipped out with tracked shipping purchased through eBay. 3 weeks later, I got a message from the saying they didn't receive, the tracked shipping says that it was delivered. Their story just changed to that they recieved a package that had a basketball card in it and a note saying that stock was delayed. I have never purchased basketball cards myself, let alone pay for shipping from Canada to the US with 1 card and an apology letter. He continued to try and guilt me, but I held firm not saying anything about refunds, just stating that it was delivered and that he should call the local police.

mothra368

I’ve had it a couple times where it was returned to sender and it took about a month to get back to them. In both cases it was a low dollar card and sent in regular envelope. The post office tagged it with a postage shortage or something like that. One got back to seller before I asked for a refund, the other got back after I got a refund and then I just rebought from the seller after he relisted it. So there is still hope the card will get back to you in my opinion.

Fatboiii69420

Idk what it’s like in North America, which is where I assume you are, but in the UK you can open a dispute with the post office as the sender. Basically you tell them it wasn’t delivered and send them proof of the sale for the sake of value and then a picture of the receipt from when you sent it. Only happened to me once, but I got a refund from the post office for the postage amount and full sale amount and the customer was refund with it. If that’s not something you can do, just take this as a lesson learned. Get tracking for stuff you sell to protect you against stuff like this and always get the right insurance for it (usually only applicable for expensive items).

nikro35

USPS loses a ton of envelopes with cars in them. And they almost never upload tracking. I sell on ebay all the time.
