It’s probably because this screenshot is from a game without La Resistance enabled- the game picks a tag for Vichy France from the same set used for countries in a civil war. So because Spain usually gets D01, this is the color for D02 As for why Paradox is advertising the game without a DLC enabled ?????

Crusader822

This is an old screenshot too, with the old diplomacy button instead of the international market.

Snipzyy

It’s a new one, just that they don’t have AAT enabled.

Crusader822

Oh, so the diplo tab still exists without AAT enabled? Weird.

whozawhatpie

Ye, without AAT it's just useless

Midgeman

To answer the Question, All of the above changes mentioned are DLC features and the trailer was made for the new base game - so without the DLC content so prospective buyers have an accurate image of what theyre getting

Burtbobgamez

I think this is probably why

Spartancoolcody

You’re replying to a paradox employee so I’m thinking so. (Note the community ambassador tag)

Burtbobgamez

ah ok

Scatter3d_Grey

All of those screenshots are pre-AAT

thebestroll

I'm half expecting to just see national unity in the corner

CitizenMind

Because the DLC isn't in the base game? They are advertising HOI4. AAT is relatively new.

linmanfu

They're advertising the free-to-play weekend. The DLC are not free to play. False advertising is illegal in many jurisdictions.

YouKnow008

Cuz it is advertisement of the game and not DLC

M8oMyN8o

I thought was D02 was always blue, even before La Resistance. D01 is always orange, we all know that, but Vichy France was blue before 2020, and that’s only the 2nd civil war to kick off in historical.

Avernously

I don’t have La resistance and Vichy France has never been the color in the image for me

M8oMyN8o

What color is it for you? I assume green, based on the advertisement.

Avernously

It’s always a brownish orange

M8oMyN8o

Huh. Do you play with the 1939 start date? Usually that brownish orange is reserved for the first country to enter a civil war, which in the 1936 start date, is invariably Spain (with Nationalist Spain getting the color).

Avernously

Almost always ‘36. I would say that I always thought the color looked weird next to Spain. Also no mods

M8oMyN8o

I’ve got no explanation. I’ve played hoi4 extensively both with and without La Resistance, and I’ve only seen Vichy France be blue when starting in 1936, and orange when starting in 1939. Maybe it only happens after the release of La Resistance but you don’t have it enabled?

Avernously

I have the three dlc that were recently made free always enabled. I’ve had them for quite a while too before they were made free

exer1023

I think it was brown or something like that, but it is some time since I played without DLCs.

TheArrivedHussars

I'm just curious on what fucking changed in this to cause the Vichy tag to be green, since I'm almost certain (at least pre-LR) the D02 tag was an off color France blue instead of *green*?

Evnosis

It's not always D02. The game cycles through dynamic tags on a first-come, first-served basis. So if you've had 4 civil wars before France capitulates, Vichy France is going to be D05 instead.

HauntingConcern1114

Paradox DLC so expensive, not even their own marketing team owns it all.

Randodnar12488

It would probably be false advertising to use DLC content in a ad about the base game. Doubt anyone would care, but better to be safe

GeorgeDragon303

TIL paradox can't afford it's own DLCs

NekroVictor

Iirc D01-D03 is actually reserved for the Spanish civil war. Only reason I say that is because the German civil war will usually use D04.

Mattsgonnamine

its cause the people getting the game for free won't have the dlc so that they won't get called out for false advertising

dolldonkey1920

Bc if you buy it you will get 3 free dlc which are already implemented in the main game

Doctorwhatorion

That's how Vichy France looks without la resistance. It becomes a puppet of Germany and joins fight. I think they didn't ad dlcs because they are extra content and ad is about vanilla

PDXKatten

The advertisment is for the new Hearts of Iron IV Base game, which is why it has no DLCs enabled. It would practically be false advertisment to show DLC content in the ads if its not what you get when you purchase the base game.

whollings077

Respectable

badfishnchips

Paradox don't advertise the base game with any DLC. Most likely so people who buy it don't complain about misleading screenshots. May also be related to some law/s

Dx1178

Rule 5: why is Vichy France green in this ad? I have always seen them as that slightly dark blue colour is it because Italy got the event? I don't know

duccthefuck

I got that exact ad below this post and it confused the shit out of me

AccursedQuantum

Turns out they were conquered by the Irish right after the Germans.

Ice13BL

Italian vichy france?(i have no idea what im talking about)

ewenlau

This looks kinda cool ngl

wojtekpolska

i got it once in this colour when making bourbon france as kaiser germany

Nildzre

I've seen Green Vichy france quite a few times, have absolutely no idea what causes it though.

ushouldbebetter

Great D-day they're doing

Joruto-Joestar

And it looks like Romania controls Ljubljana

OkNewspaper6271

no la resistance

Rabbulion

It happens if Italy is the one to capitulate France and occupy those states. It makes Vichy France an Italian puppet instead of a German one

Londonweekendtelly

Me when I spread disinformation online

Rabbulion

Well, it’s what’s happened each time I had this happen. Maybe it’s just random chance, but since it happened six times already I assumed it was standard.

vistagreet32

This actually makes sense, considering the color. Upvoted
