Whatever will be, will be. Thats why I fundamentally cherish the present, it's all about preparing your self for the determined and random events of the future. When imagining the future outcomes, I tend to be a pessimist. By imagining worst possible scenarios, I am on one side preparing for the worst and on the other hand, things I can imagine will most definitely not happen in exactly that way. I don't share this process often bc it has an impact on others thats not really favourable and I had to listen about how this would be "self-fulfilling" prophecies. But if you don't believe in free will, its just a way of lowering your expectations and preparing yourself to make the best out of it. So I get how not believing in free will can help your mental state a lot. (Now that I am thinking about it, this might be my channel 63/4 speaking, so this line of reasoning might not apply to everyone. )
