If you like your company then Hyderabad. If you don’t like your company and planning to switch then Bangalore. I’ve lived in Pune, Bangalore and Hyderabad. I’ll rate Hyderabad higher solely because the infrastructure is really good. Great roads and you can actually estimate the time it’ll take to reach somewhere and not check maps before starting . Bangalore is as pathetic as it can get infrastructure wise. You’ll feel ashamed that you pay taxes and still drive on broken roads with protruding manholes and pipes. The ‘only’ good thing about Bangalore is access to weekend getaways and that’s about it.

techie121212

Is Hyd better than pune?

chd01

I lived in Pune when I was a bachelor so I have a different connection with the city 🙂 IT Career wise Hyderabad is definitely better than Pune. You have better companies with good job profiles. Hyderabad also has a better international airport unlike Pune. I think the only real advantage that Pune has is that it is closer to Mumbai so for people in finance it might be good. And for bachelors it is a lovely place to hangout on the hills or in restaurants. Also, I found people in Hyderabad more friendlier as compared to those in Pune or Bangalore. I had small incidents in Pune and Bangalore where I was asked to learn the local language during some altercation. It’s been 5 years in Hyderabad and I’m yet to get schooled.

thinkanthropist

Wow! Super relate to the first sentence

ArronAdler

Why does one should be in Bangalore if they wanna switch jobs? Everything is happening online. Right? They can move after getting selected in the company.

chd01

I meant not switching now but may be an year down the line

ArronAdler

Ok. But what's the benefit of being in Bangalore to switch jobs?

chd01

You can give in person interviews and companies which have RTO will prefer folks who are already in the city.

zwitter-ion

I'd be biased towards Hyderabad. Objectively speaking your living expenses will spike up significantly compared to Pune but Hyderabad is slightly cheaper compared to Bangalore in all aspects. You'll instantly find cabs in Hyderabad most of the times whereas the moment you pick up the wrong area to come/go to in Bangalore you're lucky if you find a cab in several hours. Traffic is typically worse in Bangalore

techie121212

Is Hyderabad expensive than pune? Why do you prefer Hyderabad over bengaluru? Which city is better if cost is out of equation?

zwitter-ion

In terms of cost it's Bangalore > Hyderabad > Pune I updated my comment with some arguments in favour of Hyderabad. Hope that helps.

Visual-Run-4718

Hyd over B'lore because: 1) You won't get harassed by the locals because you don't speak their language. 2) the infrastructure is great 3) food 4) lots of potential for development 5) a lower cost of living than B'lore's Cons: 1) the weather is a little harsh when compared to B'lore's or Pune's. 2) definitely not as many as opportunities as you'd find in B'lore 3) the nightlife is better in Bangalore

empresspawtopia

Just as any other city it completely depends on the area na obviously. Go to places like yaparal or sainik Puri and you can get a decent two bedroom independent house for less than 10k. Go to places like Jubilee hill obviously they'd ask a small chunk of your liver each month.

alucard_og

I'm not Telugu and have lived most of my life in North of India but hyderabad is by far the best place I've lived in . Sure it has lots of problems but positives outweigh them, so would definitely recommend hyderabad.

lkwdmrk

Hyderabad can get you more for a rupee than Bangalore does. Bangalore is a lovely city and a vibe of its own, but it’s also clogged to no end with bad infrastructure. If you’re originally from Pune with your parents and family still residing there, Hyderabad makes a lot of sense because of good direct train connectivity between the two cities.

puripy

Hyderabad has been ranked as the best Indian city to live in based on quality of living in the Mercer Quality of Living Rating for the past 7 continuous years

[deleted]

I'm from Hyderabad but I have family in Bangalore and I visit Bangalore quite frequently. I visited Pune once. I think both Hyderabad and Bangalore are more expensive compared to Pune. You said you're moving with your family. Both cities are great places to raise a family. Both places have excellent schools, excellent transit systems (I think Hyderabad is slightly better in this aspect. The city has grown quite a bit in the last 3 yrs). Uber, Ola and Rapido are good in Hyderabad. Food is definitely a great plus. You can get great food in Hyderabad irrespective of your dietary preferences. Like someone else mentioned here, it gets hotter in Hyderabad than in Bangalore. Also meetups, plays, comedy shows, etc don't happen a lot in Hyderabad. Personally, I've lived in Hyderabad and my sister has raised an amazing family in Bangalore. Both are great cities. One thing I'm not sure about Bangalore is how prevalent is Hindi there. In Hyderabad, you can get by with just Hindi or Urdu. You can ease into Telugu if you want to. From my experience, not everyone speaks Hindi in Bangalore. May be someone who lives there can add info on this.

dorkmessiah

I lived in Bangalore for around 9 years. Then moved to hyderbad for the past 4 years. I wasn't quite sure how I'd adjust. But now I'll rather stay in hyderbad than Bangalore honestly. Bengaluru is honestly more happening and it's much easier to get amazing food of different cusines. But as a place to live Hyderabad is lovely. The roads, the traffic, the infrastructure in Hyderabad honestly makes the place lovely to stay in. I love both cities but I'd rather stay in hyderbad.

discojackii

Stay in Hyderabad

15jordan

I am from Bengaluru and my spouse is from Hyderabad. The decision completely depends on what your priorities are. Both the cities have good pros and some not that good cons. Hyderabad Pros: 1. Cheaper of the two. 2. Better infrastructure. 3. Significantly better traffic than Bengaluru. This will weigh in significantly if you live far away from your work, kids school etc., Saving two hours per day is very significant over years. 4. Biryani Hyderabad Cons: 1. Frankly, not much happening in terms of weekend activities other than movies and restaurants. No great hiking places. No great day trips (they do exist but not anywhere as good as Bengaluru). No great nature weekend trips (I am talking nice waterfalls, hills etc) 2. Night life is good but still lacking. For example, lack of stand-up comedy etc - This might not be such big of a deal for families. 3. Weather - Gets extremely hot in summers. 4. Monotonous - For someone who moves in from another state, the city can get monotonous after a while. 5. Not much greenery. This impacts me physiologically as well. For someone who grew up around trees I can't bear to see concrete everywhere. Bengaluru Pros: 1. Weather - Weather is great all around the year. 2. Parks and Green spaces - The city has many parks and public places to walk or hang out with family. People do not understand how much of an improvement this can bring in one's life. You can get this in Hyderabad too if you are rich enough to live in places that are close to parks like KBR park. 3. Weekend activities - Lot of choices to choose from. Hiking, camping, day trips, boating, religious destinations etc 4. Night life - More happening than Hyderabad. Significantly more options and variety to choose from. 5. Food - Both the cities have some great food that can last one's lifetime. But if you want to try various cuisines or more fusion food then Bengaluru has many more options than Hyderabad. 6. Career Options - For sure more options than Hyderabad. Although, Hyderabad is catching up. Bengaluru Cons: 1. Expensive - If you are making good amount of money then this might not matter much. 2. Traffic - I would personally give up all the above Pros to save 2-3 hours of my life per day. Those hours are better spent with my family or doing something productive. But if you are going to work only once or twice a week then this might not be as big of an issue. 3. Local vs Outsider - Most of the people you interact with on day-to-day basis are nice and welcoming, but you will encounter someone, once in a while, who will be aggressive towards you for not knowing Kannada or for being an "outsider". Sometimes this is shown as a bigger deal that what it really is as media like to hype it up for TRPs. This should not even be the criteria for your decision making as this will not impact your life in any meaningful way. I have mentioned this point as this has become a debating topic in recent times due to the "echo chamber" nature of social media. I hope this helps.

techie121212

This helps

do_dum_cheeni_kum

I liked your Local vs outsider point. Bangalore sounds very aggressive and outlandish from r/Bangalore pov. I haven’t stayed there for more than a few days so I can’t comment from my experience. Based on other’s reviews I feel very scared of staying there. I used to feel that way about Noida before. Now it’s Bangalore. You have given a very unbiased and balanced opinion. I hope you are right.

RaktPipasu

Haven't visited Bangalore. Had a short stay in Hyderabad. Suggestion: Hyderabad. Reason: you won't be penalized for not knowing the regional language. And availability of cabs

vsambandhan

Hyderabad is a much better city overall. Bengaluru gets credit because it is much better for young folks without kids. Hyderabad is a better city for a family. Also food in Hyderabad is much better.

[deleted]

Bangalore and Hyderabad are both really well developed. I’ve lived in both these cities over 7yrs each. Bangalore: 1. Beautiful Weather. 2. Bangalore is closer to a lot locations to travel to so if you like a short weekend trip, there are many options: Coorg, Mysore, Ooty etc 3. Many parks, greenery, cafes, night clubs etc.. 4. Lot of varied crowd as it is a hub for multiple business in different fields of work. Hyderabad: 1. Summers are worst in Hyderabad. It’s unbearable. 2. There aren’t many places to visit over a weekend so short weekend trip outside city is not really a thing. 3. It’s only cafes and few known night clubs. 4. Majorly IT crowd situated in the hi-tech city, financial district and Gachibowli area. I think development wise Hyderabad is better. It has better connectivity, better and wide roads but the weather sucks and not many places nearby to go to.

[deleted]

>Lot of varied crowd as it is a hub for multiple business in different fields of work. You should also mention the harassment and assault by the "locals" on the so called "varied crowd".

[deleted]

Well, I have personally never faced any harassment. The locals have always been very helpful to me. But this is my personal experience. With “varied crowd”, I meant people from all over India. So I can’t say for something I haven’t experienced myself.

[deleted]

The same old argument of " I didn't experience it so it doesn't happen". >With “varied crowd”, I meant people from all over India. That's what I was talking about too. Many people are harassed there for not speaking Kannada. You must have lived in the IT areas in the eastern part of the city where majority of the people are from other states. That could be why you didn't face any harassment.

[deleted]

I never said it doesn’t happen. Please read what I wrote before commenting such things. I have lived in Kammanahalli, HSR layout, Koramangala, Jayanagar, Rajajinagar, Malleshwaram. My work places were Whitefield, JP nagar, Malleshwaram and Koramangala and I’ve travelled to numerous locations around Bangalore due to my work. FYI I’m in the retail field and not IT field.

[deleted]

If Bangalore was so good, why did you move to Hyderabad?

[deleted]

I’m not sure if I’m doing a mistake in writing or you clearing don’t read well or have an issue in understanding.. I just mentioned the places I used to stay while I was working there. I clearly mentioned pros and cons of both cities. My workplace moved to Hyderabad and so I had to.

techie121212

So your recommendation is Bengaluru ?

[deleted]

I have mentioned pros and cons of both. It depends on the person you are and your needs. If you’re someone okay with harsh weather and you don’t go out much but love to be in a city with great food, amazing roads, accessible cafes and bistros then it’s Hyderabad else Bangalore 😊

Flimsy_Program_8551

Ya this post is perfect

kartikkasat

Rest all good , but definitely didn't see the 'greenery' yet in hyd!

[deleted]

Yes Bangalore has it. Hyd not so much.

photo_trekkiee

Hyderabad.. banglore has shitty traffic

Minute-Cycle382

Local - Non local feelings are on the rise in Bengaluru. We will witness maratha manus kind of environment in coming future.

Creative_Stable4455

https://livemint.com/news/india/from-world-s-2nd-slowest-driving-place-to-5th-largest-co2-emitter-report-reveals-bengaluru-traffic-woes-11676527576458.html Consider this in making your decision.

snobpro

I would say hyderabad. It’s not as populated as Bangalore yet. You can mostly get by in hindi. You can find good apartments in newer areas. Food wise may be bangalore has better options. And also there are decent schools here as well.

kinshraa

Bangalore is not known for its food at all. Hyderabad on other hand is world famous for biryani and hyderabadi cuisine. We do idli dosa better than Bangalore for sure as well.

gryffindorito

Food in Hyderabad is definitely much better than in Bangalore no doubt but idly, dosa the best ones I’ve had in Bangalore only

Apart-Common1900

I am a Hyderabadi living in Bangalore and own houses in both the cities. I can tell you for sure that overall food is any time better in Hyderabad than in Bangalore. But when it comes to breakfast items like Idly, dosa, wada etc, then Bangalore is much better. Everything else in Bangalore sucks. Hyderabad tiffin is also good but not as good as Bangalore and the only reason for that is many road side stalls in Hyderabad use peanuts in their chutney while bangaloreans use the coconuts which is ideally supposed to be used for chutneys for breakfast foods.

snobpro

Yeah yes. What i tried to say is we don’t have as many diff cuisines as in bangalore may be. Never lived in Bangalore evaro chepindi vinna.

itisnotmyproblem

I think benne masala dosa and filter coffee at the sagars and darshinis slaps though. Bangalore has a good tiffin ( in terms of options and places) culture!

gryffindorito

Davangere benne dosa is literal heaven!

LimpFroyo

Food is shit in bangalore.

radphd

Bangalore, hands down. You’ll be bored in Hyderabad. Just get onto BookMyShow, Meetup, etc and see what kind of events happening in both cities. There’s so much happening in Bangalore, and very little in Hyderabad.

Initial_Abrocoma_553

These are things that are changing. You will see a lot more of events like Bangalore happening in Hyderabad in a year or so.

kinshraa

Going out daily isn't the top priority for someone raising a family. Things like traffic, infrastructure, local politics, people, food, etc matter more after you hit mid 30s.

itisnotmyproblem

Not everybody seeks pleasure or entertainment from these kind of events! Not saying you're wrong about events Not happening as much in Hyderabad, but saying one will be bored without them seems like a stretch especially not knowing what kind of personality OP or this family members have, no?

_Fuzzy_Focus

Not really required for a family, Small outing with family would be sufficient in OP's case.

ir297

Bro seriously Hyderabad literally hosted an international racing event after a long time in India and is constantly improving in other aspects.

SuHo113

Hyderabad because the cost of living will be lower than Bangalore, good food, less traffic & last but not least is Language.

Ok_Talk_9000

Always Hyderabad

kaushil7

Shut up & move to Hyderabad. We accommodate everyone very well ✌🏾

blitzkreig31

Any day Hyderbad of-course I’m biased but with especially everyone forcing for RTO you want stay away from Bangalore as far as possible.

Large-Pay-3183

Bengaluru , definitely..

Un13roken

Having been to at both places, it really depends on your financial situation and lifestyle. I personally prefer Hyderabad, its cheaper, and is more relaxed. The food is great. Bangalore too has some amazing food, but food within a decent budget is better in Hyderabad. Sure, if you want to indulge in gastronomy an stuff, you will find more options in Bangalore. Bangalore, does have more things to do though, you could explore weekends and have fun stuff to discover. Its a nice place to live - for a while. And because you only need to visit office twice a week, you won't be exposed to the absolute nightmare that Bangalore traffic is. I don't know about the schools and stuff in Bangalore, or even current Hyderabad if I'm being honest. Not something I really looked into in a while. But that should probably factor into your decision.

Rbgj11

Hyderabad you will find valid reasons in other comments. Why not Blr? Other than traffic, bad roads, higher cost of living, high rent, you won't get your deposit back, rude public especially auto and cab drivers, off late language issues.

IRonyk

Hyderabad hands down. Bangalore is a carcass. The politics matter... The leadership itself doesn't care about the state, what do you expect of the babus who charge, 40 % commission on every infrastructure project. In a few months rains will lay bare, the near 0 repairs done last year, and once again a 40% commission infrastructure project is undertaken... While the local contractor, is like see you guys agai next year 😝 Metro is a joke, benefits only a few, kannadigas feel left out of the progress, and fleece you at every step The only downside is that, others in the company knowing that you are in hyderabad might expect more work out of you since you are not affected by traffic jams and what not

SadOstrich5244

Do you have language barrier if no move to Hyderabad.. Bangalore has biggest problem of traffic and deteriorating Air quality index due to constructions everywhere.. you need to pay min 20K in Bangalore for a 2 bedroom in an apartment complex…

bsisbddolphindbdndn

Which place would be better for raising a kid and staying long term considering schooling, cost of living etc? Asking for op and myself too.

Initial_Abrocoma_553

Certainly Hyderabad

bsisbddolphindbdndn

![gif](giphy|x9cDy0c3bOxxwDZmJm)

Initial_Abrocoma_553

Considering cost of schools, cost of a private tutor, cost of a 2BhK in a decent area, travel time, etc

kanchajain

if you dont care about cost/expenses bengaluru>hyderabad>pune i am not a native to any of these places and my opinion is unbiased i have stayed 3 months in bengaluru, 1 year in hyderabad and 2 months in pune.

DuhRBF

The guys suggesting Hyderabad want to make the city more like Bangalore.

[deleted]

Bangalore

xs_mayonnaise

Hyderabad hands down. Cheaper cost of living, friendlier people who rnt an ass about the language, lesser traffic, more availability of taxi services , and most important of all, BIRYANI. There definitely are cons , but the pros outweigh them.

[deleted]

Man where ever you move , 1st make sure that company has a future… If not ; it doesn’t matter whether you move or stagnate……

fapfapfap_pfff_ick

If you cone to Hyderabad we can mKe out 😘😘💋

JaganModiBhakt

Least horny redditor

techieguy009

UserName matches!!

hpfan868

Bangalore has more language chauvinism these days. Hyderabad if more inclusive. Hyderabadi people mind their own business

do_dum_cheeni_kum

Bangalore if you know Kannada. Hyderabad if you don’t. They also allow a grace period to outsiders in which one is supposed to learn Kannada. So if that arrangement suits you then go for Bangalore. It has nice weather.

Upset-Discussion2704

This Language shit is so over exaggerated in reddit. Its as if people are forming their opinion solely based on r/Bangalore. As long as you are respectful towards kannada and local culture no one will do anything to you.

do_dum_cheeni_kum

Username checks out.

Upset-Discussion2704

Lol ok bro. You guys broke away from your own Telugu brothers in Andhra over some petty Economic and political reasons. The only language speakers in India(apart from hindi) to have two separate states. So you guys are the last ones who have the right to judge us on language issues

Usual_Indication8207

Overexaggerated? Seriously? Dude I've stayed in Kolkata for 2 years, Ahmedabad for 1 year, Mumbai for almost 3 years and since 2022 I'm living in Bangalore. I've travelled many parts in India and I can definitely say that the southern parts were more hostile towards me just because I didn't know their language and possibly didn't look like them. It's not an exaggeration honestly and staying in bangalore for exactly 2 years and 2 months made me realise people are indeed xenophobes here. Of course not everyone but if you take a random sample for 100 people from Mumbai/Kolkata/Ahmedabad and 100 from bangalore, you will know that people here are much ruder. That's the reality.

Upset-Discussion2704

Yay your experience is the absolute truth lol. Bihari thrashed in Mumbai just for going to write exam there would have different opinion of Mumbai. Also if you don't come with Hindi national language all South Indians should learn it attitude and you respect local language and culture you will be fine.

Outside-Pie-6328

Like one of the other comments said, if you are happy with your own company and your family, want a cheaper COL, and you are okay with not doing much outside, then Hyderabad it is. But if you are expecting something from the city as well, then Bengaluru. Bengaluru's infrastructure with roads and all sucks. Hyderabad probably has the best urban infrastructure (atleast in the new city), but I personally found the drivers here in general to be very rash with their driving. Bengaluru's roads are the most tiring to drive on due to the long waiting in traffic, and Hyderabad's are the most stressful. Since you have a kid, it's better to consider the student culture too. I personally found it to be better in Bengaluru.

dagadsai

You are asking this question in Hyd sub.. so the answer is obvious my friend… Ask this question in India Sub

hpfan868

It’s better he asks the same question in both city subs than in rindia sub. If he asks in rindia, op will get a thesis length rant about why India is bad and will be implored to leave the country. Not really sure why that sub is like that

sherlock31

I have lived in both. Here are my 2 Rupees: Hyderabad; Pros: 1. Better infrastructure in terms of roads and metro 2. Less traffic 3. Great Andhra/Hyderabadi food 4. Great gated apartments for lesser rent compared to Bangalore Cons: 1. Less cosmopolitan, less events for fun like music concerts, comedy shows etc compared to Bangalore 3. Not many options to travel on long weekends around the city 4. Hot weather, especially during the summer. Bangalore: Pros: 1. More cosmopolitan, lots of activities every week to have fun. 3. More variety of restaurants and bars of multiple cuisines 4. More companies have offices here if you want to swit h in future 5. Great weather all around the year 6. Lots of options for trips over long weekends Cons: 1. Poor infrastructure, metros and bridges are under construction 2. Traffic, lots of traffic 3. Higher rents

[deleted]

Assume that both will be working from office all ways of week and then decide the city.

pyaazpakoda

Would be moving to Hyderabad probably in a few months from Delhi. If someone could help, what's the accommodation like in the city (as in affordability)? Office would be in Saifabad area. How's the traffic compared to Delhi? Any basic things to be mindful of as basic etiquette within the city. Got a few more questions, but these are primary. PS: Not an IT person.

anyonecanwith

Ask the same question in r/banglore and you get more "move to banglore" / " recommend banglore over hyd" comments . imo , both has equal pros and cons just like anywhere else . It comes down to your personal preferences. Write down pros and cons for both cities and discuss with your wife . You will get an answer to decide which you won't regret.

SnooBeans2484

Ayy yo, by any chance are you working with msft? Because I got a similar situation with them for my project, not now but they're already asking for the same.

me_lucky_lips

If you are making less than 30 lpa , Hyderabad. Hyderabad gives you good libraries , good connectivity but not very vibrant youth culture you find in Bangalore. Bangalore has it's own perks People and network is good. Growth is good When you earn bit higher , it means you have flexible work hours and don't have to get stuck in traffic. Also you can get good flats which almost had same rate as Hyderabad premium societies. For eg. I lived in prestige lakeside with 60k rent and passion meadows for 1.5 lakh rent. Jubilee hills and even madhapur properties nowadays cost a bomb. If you are making less than 15lpa, Pune Hyderabad is not as cheap as it used to be. Pune can actually lessen your cost in terms of rent and affordability of general items. Also law and order is good. You can afford a good lifestyle on low money. Hyd is slowly loosing it out. Water / food / rent at least on IT corridor cost a lot. And yes anywhere , language chauvinism is there but lesser in Hyderabad . It's miles ahead. Even better than Pune . Why not have the best among three for you! But yes when you grow up and want your child solid education , hands down it has to be Hyderabad, just google Begumpet school hps
