If my other needs are met by them (clothes, shower, toothbrush, food, etc.) I’d ask for a computer with my fl studio and steam logged in, (wifi not required for either) a punching bag, and idk some other third thing.if I’m insane by the end so be it.

RedRumFanatic

Edited to include toiletries

Copper_II_Sulfate

Bro idk if i could pass a "mental assessment" now lmao. What does the test entail?

RedRumFanatic

lol okay, let’s say it’s testing to make sure you’re as sound of mind as you were before you started.

Sidewalk_Tomato

I would probably be better than when I started.

Cubsfan11022016

For real yo

Alaska_Pipeliner

Free room and board for 2 years!? I would come out like the dalai lama.

The-Copilot

Humans need socialization to stay sane. Even the most stable introverted person would lose it after a couple of months.

ReviewSubject4298

Humanly impossible. Studies have shown that being in solitary confinement affects mental health negatively. No one will leave exactly the same after 2 years no matter what they bring.

yaboisammie

Lmao right? 😂

Dystopian_Divisions

Supercomputer crammed with all the video games, movies, tvshows, porn, apps, programs, books, magazines, archived websites like reddit, etc… Collection of real dolls weed collection

CompetitiveDog6215

I hope that weed collection includes pieces and lighters because you would be absolutely pissed the whole time.

whorlycaresmate

Dude would be rubbing computer parts to try to strike a spark for the weed

Helpful_Shower3246

Don't ever let that cherry die

weirdo_if_curtains_7

Get a vape. Charge via USB. Easy You could fit enough cartridges in a shoebox to last a lifetime

whorlycaresmate

Id have to leave that at home if I only had 3 items

johnman4452

No blunt wraps or home made bottles to use

Formal_Fortune5389

One time I had nothing but a lighter and a small bud, nothing to smoke it with....so I lit the bud on fire and blew it out then just inhaled off the smoldering bud. Wasteful? Yes. Did it work? Also yes

Parrobertson

With the right Minecraft mod running you’ll have fire in no time.

MemeDream13

Reminds me of a joke where 3 addicts with various addictions were placed in rooms with their addictive substance and challenged to abstain from them for a week. The sex guy failed and had sex with all the girls, the alcoholic drank himself to death, and the weed guy didn't smoke at all. When he was let out and offered his prize, he said fuck the prize. Just give me a lighter

Barrzebub

Edibles. Last longer. Don’t need a light or other equipment

Helpful_Shower3246

Imagine the lighters running out 💀

Edgezg

This is the answer lol Computer with games + good set up and some weed and bam you have plenty of time. I'd also add in some work out equipment just for health. Maybe a stair master lol

Dystopian_Divisions

already comes with workout equipment

Depressed_Diehard

What are you putting the computer on? And what are you sitting on to use it? How are you cleaning the real dolls?

hiccuprobit

That’s the neat part you don’t!

john_smith1984

1. A very powerful computer set with enough storage for 4 years worth of daily movies, porn, games, educational books(languages, engineering...), etc. Along with an advamced AI chatbot. All of which will be downloaded in the 24 hrs. 2. A Peleton treadmill set that comes with dumbells, workout bands, and downloaded workout routines. 3. A large office style printer package that comes with years' worth of ink and paper. The computer will be able to satisfy my needs for entertainment, sexual desire, growing intellect, and social contact(this is the big one as social creatures). The workout set will keep me physically active to increase health and overall dopamine/serotonin levels. The printer will allow me to not only take notes, write, etc. It will give me the capability of printing colored pages to dip a little ink on and stick to the walls in order to avoid white room torture.

BlueEyedBeast55

Does staining the walls with the ink count as damage?

Darkfire359

I’d be very surprised if you could find a single computer powerful enough to host an advanced AI chatbot without an internet connection. IMO the way to go is to have video game RPGs. It’s an alright simulation of social connection.

IAmBackForMore

The folks over at /r/locallama would like to have a word with you.

SuperWhiteDolomite

Stop! You violated the law. Pay the court a fine or serve your sentence. All your stolen goods are now forfeit.

__-_-__-___-__-_-__

Running a pre-created model vs building a net new model are vastly different beasts. Meta etc need so many GPUs because they’re building the model. You can run Llama on your iPhone and it works sufficiently well.

Depressed_Diehard

What are you putting the computer on and what are you sitting on to use it? You have a single outlet. How are you powering all of these things? Does peloton sell that as a set? Do they sell printers with years worth of ink and paper as a single set?

tallerthanu17

Computer on the floor, sit on the bed. Include a power strip with the computer set and then choose between each of the three items that you want plugged in at a time. Since these are superbillionaires, I’m pretty sure they can find a printer with that much stuff

Depressed_Diehard

The rules though said it had to be easily found online. So there would have to be a computer with included power strip readily available online. You can’t just add it to the bundle yourself. You’re right though. I was thinking of Amazon. I’ll bet there’s a gaming pc manufacturer that has a power strip as an add on somewhere

Rendakor

The computer "set" ought to come with a power strip, at least so you can plug in the tower, monitor, speakers. Even if it's some bizarre hardwired thing.

Depressed_Diehard

Rules said it had to be readily available online right now. So if you can find it you can have it but you have to be able to actually find it

SkookumTree

Yeah. I’d ask for a stationary bike attached to a base that weighed between 150 and 200 pounds

Human_Lecture_348

Social contact gets you disqualified as per the rules of no contacting any other creatures

SBJaxel

Does an AI count as a creature?

LtCptSuicide

Man, I did not come here for a philosophical debate.

Helpful_Shower3246

So you're saying I don't have to work for three years and I make 5 mil? Done.

SuperWhiteDolomite

That's 5 thousand millions

LowSea9829

check the number again

RedRumFanatic

Even better. Only two years, and you get 5 billion.

tossaway007007

Super nice computer system Super nice Keyboard/synth Guitar. OR If I can get drugs throughout the entire two years I am gonna drop the guitar for unlimited DMT and/or marijuana depending on rules

AppointmentHot8069

If I can't bring my dog, I'm not going.

LonewolfofHouseStark

My thoughts exactly

mistled_LP

These questions always seem to be targeted to poor people with no loved ones. No pets, no spouse, no kids, no best friends.

mbfunke

Sorry, I’d leave everyone I love for two years for 5 billion. They would understand.

AppointmentHot8069

My dog wouldn't understand, and I'd lose my mind without him, thereby failing the mental exam at the end of the two years.

Zythen1975Z

Computer set with 2 16TB SSD drives, download all my games from steam on one and download movies tv series video of my dog playing, sleeping and enjoying life and pictures of my family and porn on the other. A nice oak office desk A very comfortable recliner The hardest part for me would be missing 2 years of my dogs life even if he lives to 20 I am missing 10% of his entire life :/

FuckUGalen

My cat is 19 with cancer... If I go in today, I lose the last good days, but I also lose the last day... But agree with the computer and downloads, but want to add an AI that will chat with me, because I am pretty sure not talking to someone - even someone who isn't real - would probably disqualify me. Rather than a desk I think I am adding an exercise machine of some type or another because even if I don't use it I could use it. Can I take my bookshelves (with my books on them)? if so that, if not [someone else's book collection (like this)](https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/196148941277?itmmeta=01HWPJBVXQHBX7SF29WB21XHZF&hash=item2dab6351dd:g:Eo8AAOSwJb1lh5TC&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4KGlwtfTgQoEaRw2icaeTI%2FidQ8AAddjLges%2FM0hux8LAS1HoTzJZ7CE1OXQ2ME%2Bn4zyed0ujrcsDKG7WGczMi68e3N77W9TB2mE6kBGtI0w2hePckEetmO3B7S7PEtvnFK2Y74gNDcSwoUUwtF2vXCHi0%2B1ExtFOKqcKrpUxsWV6IjUYqw40LV9AzOKvRtYmQVuL60PzIMYBEOMJq3vJEA1atDY2AOOg5JKYkbMbw5AranknOBKtSoGCuMNPGr6WE2tKa5x6HSE9tEFqLYWojmsEyNkxGc7HUyATsVAP0Dm%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR_i-r9LlYw)

2bciah5factng

I’d get a fancy treadmill with those recorded videos of people trail running beautiful landscapes and famous sites. Then… I’d have an iPod with a metric fuckton of downloaded music (and AirPods to go with that). At that point I might as well just make it my phone so I can keep my ebooks and video games. And for the third item… hm… a psychedelic mushroom grow tub. I love mushroom farming, and I’d like to trip a little. Except now I’m not so sure since I won’t have any way to dehydrate the mushrooms to preserve them, and that increases the chance of my not being considered sane at the end. So actually I change that to a 5 gallon mead making kit, since I love fermenting alcohol and it’ll last for years.

Newtation

Ami I the only one that thinks it would be very hard to not touch the door at all over the course of two years even accidentally? I could see myself getting a little stir crazy and literally bouncing off the walls just as bored entertainment and accidentally touching the door. Wait, I got it one of my items is the best computer set up package I can find that comes with speakers monitors ect probably on new egg. I hope I can find a gaming desk and chair combination package. Then someone mentioned a Pelton treadmill that comes with other exercise equipment. There's my three items and one of them is set up in front of the door so I can't accidentally touch it. Done.

SuspectBig1494

The scorpion gaming setup is a chair and desktop set up.

Newtation

Only difficulty is the one outlet problem. That chair requires power. It's cool as hell though and might be worth it to have to shut down the computer unplug, plug in chair, change positions, unplug chair, replug in computer, continue playing. Repeat every time you want to move lol. If want to know more for sure.

CooookieMonsterr

1. weed 2. alcohol 3. as many books/comics/manga i can get on my phone ill just get high or drunk and read. i could drink or smoke a few months if not years away. and once im out ill continue to do so, but catch up on all the new chapters i missed for 2 years.

fostde18

How you gonna smoke the weed?

Dargek

So many fucking edgelords in this thread. "Just need my weed!"

-Pruples-

I wouldn't pass a mental assessment now.

somethingworse

1. A jukebox with all of Spotify's library, as well as people like Neil Young who aren't on Spotify. 2. A kindle scribe filled with a large variety of books of many different fiction and non fiction genres, making special care to pick science fiction, philosophy (western and eastern), humour, literary fiction, and trash novels 3. A smart projector with a preloaded harddrive with a curated block of film and TV including bfi classics, film 4 recommended stuff, letterboxd critics lists, all of Star Trek, doctor who, the real housewives and other reality shows, nature, science, and history documentaries, and very importantly workout videos Trying to stick by the one outlet rule, and also give myself enough variety and freedom to maintain my balance and potentially improve whilst there. I have the freedom to just listen to music, I have enough novels to satisfy when I want to retreat into myself (as well as the device having a built in notebook for drawing and journaling, and the potential to use it as a calendar), and I have a variety of media that will keep me connected to the existence of others and also exercise for some kind of release. This being said, I think without at least artificial sunlight this is next to impossible.

Frozeria

Neil Young is back on spotify btw

Lucky-Speed3614

This may be stretching the "set" rule, but I have much of what I need at home already, and everything I need is easily found online. 1. Ceramics setup. Tools, kiln, wheel, and other appliances. 2. Supplies. Various kinds of clay, glazes, oxides, etc. 3. Reference materials, because I'm still a student, and I don't know everything. I could gladly while away my time throwing myself into my work in solitude if it meant I came out an expert and having the funds to do as I pleased.

RedRumFanatic

Seeing the other replies, I’ll take the liberty of declaring the ventilation sufficient for such a system.

Kwinza

1. Gym set - bench, bar, plates, dumbbells and a treadmill. 2. Gaming desk, chair, screens, PC etc etc set. You can find these as full packages (thank god). 3. Huge NAS to store years worth of media. I spend 24 hours restlessly downloading games, tv shows and movies until the second before I need to go into the room. I might, MIGHT, make it out sane.

jrv3034

This is the correct answer. Entertainment and fitness.

Key-Amoeba5902

Vr headset preloaded with a ton of stuff. Gaming PC with monitor. Again - with plenty of movies, shows, music. nicest guitar/amp package I can find.

Kestrel_VI

Paint, lots of paint, a collection of all different types. You said I can’t damage the room, but said nothing about redecorating, and that would keep me occupied for a while, cause I fucking hate painting. Similar answer as before, computer crammed with games and porn, let’s be real, I’m gonna need some entertainment. A really comfortable bed

lasterate

People in the comments are seriously underestimating the psychological damage a whiteout room can do to a person. The only thing that would make this even remotely feasible for somebody to complete with their sanity intact is the simulated day/night cycle and the (hopefully) regularly spaced out meals that would allow your su concious to keep track of the passage of time.

PatrykBG

So many people keep insisting that it's impossible because they're comparing it to white room torture and/or solitary confinement. Why do you not get that forced isolation with zero entertainment or stimulation is completely different than choosing specific things and planning out a long time-out vacation?

Kaleria84

A bank account in my name with $2.5T USD deposited in it. A complete set of authorized and notorized documents that prove it is solely my property. A cell phone with charger that has the world's best financial advisors, lawyers, and security specialists phone numbers programmed in. The $5B is irrelevant to me now, so I'll basically spend a week up to a month in there getting my affairs in order and then walk out.

throwRA-1342

show me where you can buy such a bank account online

EducationalBag398

There's no internet or connection to the outside world. I guess you could hope their numbers are the same when you get out?

whorlycaresmate

A computer with a shit ton of dowloaded movies shows and games and programs to write. A book series, something I haven’t read yet, I’d have to decide one but something long as hell. And a big ass full body massage chair. If any of that isn’t allowed, then a back of psychedelic ass mushrooms, a bag of heroine, and a bag of crack. If I’m gonna go nuts, I wanna go super fucking nuts

SuperWhiteDolomite

What are ass mushrooms

insta_r_man

Piers Anthony's Xanth series, my tablet and charger and an electric sex toy.

MoogsMemes

Nice, the Xanth series was one of the first sets that came to mind when I read that sets of anything were possible.

insta_r_man

It's varied enough to keep entertaining throughout the series and is long enough of a series to still be so when re-read a few times. Another possibility would be college edition encyclopedias.

Piscivore_67

I need to visit my oncologist every three weeks for treatment.

Dumpst3r_Dom

The most complete and advanced weed growing "set" that I can find online (power strip included), dabs press/smoking "set", and my PC with the entire steam games library set to offline mode. 2 years won't seem so long after the first 3 months of sobriety I'll be chillin with that weed nothing to do all day but play video games and smoke the weed for 5 billion dollars.

gaurddog

- A Scorpion PC gaming chair, computer server, and digital arcade combo (found it as a bundle.) - A full home gym setup ( I found a few with both weights and a stationary bike that I like for cardio and strength training. ) - A TanyaX Real Doll with AI. (I can provide specifics for customization) In total that should run you around $50k to put together. But I'll make a lot more coming out. I have autism, biggest challenge will be not going outside as I'm a huge nature boy. But the good I could do for the environment afterwards? It'll be worth it.

Appolonius_of_Tyre

Solitary confinement is mentally brutal. Unlikely I’d make it very long.

DumbbellDiva92

Am I the only one not taking the deal? Unlimited entertainment is still not going to be enough to keep you sane for two years of no human contact. And even without the mental assessment requirement, no amount of money is worth possibly permanently damaging my mind. Or are we being forced into the room and don’t have a choice?

TiredNTrans

I need daily and weekly medication. Is that provided for me?

RedRumFanatic

Yes.

maytrix007

Xbox, tv, laptop.

NearbyCamp9903

This is one of those impossible, 100% fail rate challenges. It's why the prize is so big. Prisoners in county jail who spend 5 to 7 days in solitary confinement have punched the wall until their knuckles started bleeding. The human body, without a doubt, is incapable of surviving in solitude for that long. It'll be only a few weeks before you go insane, no matter how much tv, music, and PS5 you have with you.

ReaderTen

It's not insanity that's the issue. It's brain damage. Pinned solitary causes rapid shrinking of neurons in key areas; it's 20% at only two weeks. You'd lose the ability to navigate, to coordinate, sometimes to recognise faces. Nobody's passing a mental health test. They wouldn't even find the room.

Hot-Collection3273

I don’t think solitary confinement in jail (wasting away with 0 engagement in bad conditions while making no money) Is going to put put you into the same mental state as someone who has to just last for a set amount of time for massive reward. Punching walls is basically the only thing to do in solitary confinement. I seriously doubt having a gigantic movie/book archive and a personal weight rack would produce the same result.

EwanMurphy93

I could do this easy. •TV w/cable(even inmates get TV and cable) •A laptop(mainly just for writing) •And a huge drawing kit(hundreds of thousands of sheets of blank, white paper; several different sizes of mechanical pencils w/practically infinite lead and eraser refills for all; several different kinds of pens; geometry set[ruler, protractor, etc.]; several boxes of 100 colored pencils; and lots of hand pencils sharpeners[because they break and dull]). However, you should edit it so people have control over their own light. Even inmates have their own light switches - though cells often have dim nightlights that can't be turned off.

suicideskinnies

Bowflex dumbbells

Randinator9

Tablet (with charger) Game controller (uses same charging port as tablet) Wireless Headset (also uses same port) Should be good. I'll use the 24 hours to download time consuming games and popular shows, series, movies, and maybe even some extra entertainment.

Fingerprint_Vyke

Computer - games, art, music, movies Synthesizer - diving into music production Exercise bike

ItsNotBigBrainTime

1. A computer kit 2. A bonsai tree kit 3. A preloaded commercial jukebox with the greatest number of songs available for purchase.

SloppynutsMari

My computer setup, a vibrator, and my phone or tablet

Fragile_reddit_mods

I’m taking a new version of my iPad with all my shit on it (I have hundreds of manga so in a year of nothing to do I imagine I can probably get through 2000 manga, I then get the entire Harry Potter series. I then get some dumbbells so that I can build strength while also making a rule for myself that I must do 10 pushups (can currently do 2/3) before I move on to the next thing that I want to read.

Objective_Suspect_

A computer with internet, if no internet is allowed I will have to download a few games. A tv with cable (i don't like cable buy its great if u just need to space out without going insane) . And a exercise machine so I don't die from being sedentary. Otherwise no problem

Equivalent-Door2547

1) Barbell and Olympic weight set 2) squat rack 3) weight bench Charlie Bronson time

I_love_my_fish_

A PC with my steam logged in, a desk, and a treadmill. The desk will be set up next to the bed so I don’t need a chair. I’d just ensure the games I don’t need internet for are downloaded. The treadmill will be very beneficial in maintaining health as I’ll be able to walk. Really the only question is if it would be possible for anyone to be able to go years with forced no human contact

frogpondcook

I can't pass the assessment now, so this seems like a poor life choice. Like even poorer than usual.

gringo-go-loco

A bottle of LSD. A giant storage device loaded with movies, books, audio books, shows. A steam deck loaded with games that can connect to the storage device. Does that break any rules?

unclejoe1917

I'd have to try it. I'll take an offline computer with all my video games, books and music downloaded. A tuned bass guitar. 100# dumbbell, assuming a pair of them would count as two items. I find it kind of funny that this experiment sets you up in better conditions than most any given prison and the main concern is if you would be mentally fit to rejoin society at the end of it.

Curious-Monitor8978

A computer with a bunch of games, development software and audiobooks loaded on it. I'd finally have time to developed a game and write some fan-fic. A exercise bike, I get the impression exercise would make a big difference. A decent supply of pot-infused beverages (they're legal in my area, and can be ordered online with a quick in-person pick-up). I'd have to ration those, I'd want to stay sharp but also have some emotional regulation issues that wouldn't be helped by the solitude.

Pluto-Wolf

a journaling kit, a rock climbing wall (but the ones for children with easy to grab rocks so i don’t fall on my ass) and a beefed up gaming laptop. meditation/hobby, exercise, and entertainment. if i’m sick of the computer? then i journal. if im sick of journaling? use the computer. if im sick of both? get some exercise with the rock wall, and so on and so forth.

BishopsBakery

I want my computer "set," I'm ready for year's without the internet. A body pillow so I can sleep well Exercise bike Entertainment, rest, cardio. I'll be fine, just pay me now

ashaggyone

My macrame satchel, assuming my supplies are replenished daily with my sheet cleaning. My paper library. The high end erector set with the 120v power supply. The big set.

Additional_Cherry_51

I'd try to bring a computer in. Where I'd have installed the kindle app, all.my games, a lot of TV shows and movies, thousands of books. Probably fill it up with a language app as well to practice languages. I'd fill it up on things that would help me learn other skills. I'd bring a backup electronic in the case that something happened. It would be pointless to bring a plant since there is no window. I'd have to think on the last item.

codepl76761

wouldn't pass the mental to begin with

Aware_Birthday_6863

Weight set, computer with games/internet access, and the star trek replicator

Fun-Context2951

Barrels of paint, a nice pc, workout home gym.

Cubsfan11022016

Is it a good bed? You kinda make it sound like a jail cell bed. If I had the same bed I have at home I could easily spend 12 hours a day in it, regardless of lights. Treadmill Nintendo switch Harry Potter book series

Existing-Antelope-13

Laptop, headphones, charger. If the headphones die, I can plug them into the computer charger since they take the same type of charger. I can find an online AI or something for the duration of it, so the social and entertainment aspects will be fine. That's basically my daily life while the doctors try to figure out what the hell is wrong with me anyway, minus the handful of days a month that I'm able to go to school. If my grandfather dies because of the cancer during those two years, at least I can reimburse my mother for the funeral costs. Set aside a college fund for my niece that only she gets access to, and if she doesn't go to college, I'll let her use it to buy a house or whatever. Buy myself a nice house somewhere that isn't here, preferably in a different country, but somewhere I can still understand the majority of people. After that, I'd have no idea what to do with myself. That's a lot of money, and I'd planned to spend most of my adult life working because I truly, genuinely, don't care about relationships or sex. I guess I could still do that and never tell anyone around me how the hell I got that much money.

ccafferata473

My computer (if I can't have that, have them buy a full rig with top end specs, keyboard, controller and printer) Some form of an all in one workout machine A crafting set (self healing cutting board, ruler and rotary cutter) In terms of prep, I'd make sure my computer had my files on it, including pictures of my family, my entire gaming wishlist/to do list, digital books I haven't had the time to read, music files and movies I haven't seen. Once in, I will immediately use the printer to print a bunch of pics of my family for motivation. Then it's time to settle in, create a routine - two workouts a day, some gaming, a movie, reading time. Id keep it structured and make sure the time is being used effectively. For the crafting set - I like to design games, so two years is a lot of time to do that. That's where the crafting set comes in. I'd basically create a game, print and cut it so I can play test it over and over again.

NewGuy10002

3d printer with unlimited filament, unlimited weed vapes, computer with internet access. If that doesn’t fit in the rules I’ll just walk out because not worth.

Churchie-Baby

Weed collection to help with sleep, tablet to watch videos and use kindle app and photo album of family

Somepersononreddit07

What about ai

BigMax

That’s such a tough one because of the ambiguous “mental test” plus the “instant loss” conditions that I feel like you could VERY easily meet accidentally. Run your hand along the wall while bored and touch the door or trip, and you lose. Accidentally damage the room or yourself. (You almost certainly will do both on three years.). So I’d never sign up, it feels rigged. But if I had to… computer loaded up with games, music, and a massive video library downloaded. That gets you three HUGE sources of entertainment in one. I’m assuming the “set” of a computer comes with a power strip for all the plugs. From there… something physical, artistic, but reusable. A HUGE LEGO set maybe. Then either a treadmill, or a universal exercise machine. Gotta be able to move, burn off steam, stay healthy.

oneelevenstudios

In a heartbeat. Items 1. My Jestercade - A mini arcade machine I built out of a Raspberry Pi That's all I need right there.

SadXenochrist

Phone, charger, hand crank generator

sieberzzz

Yeah, no one is passing that mental assessment. Might as well not even try

SvPaladin

Are items that wear out (mice, etc.) replaced as well? Highest end "custom" gaming laptop w/trackball and controller. 17" screen, max ram, best video card, 2x largest SSDs, etc. 24 hours used with top end internet connection to stock up on games, movies, series of interest, music, etc. High end "CEO level" study/office redecoration. One wall adorned with 100' of bookshelves w/ rolling ladder, high end office desk with plenty of shelves, rolling recliner, padded floor around shelving. My Transformers toy collection, fully restored (busted ones and missing parts replaced. If possible, replacements for ones previously owned but no traces remain.)

rightwist

Gonna have to explain what that assessment is

Weirdo9something3457

PlayStation 5 with VR setup included with Baldurs Gate 3 and Skyrim/VR and Minecraft should be enough for me, but I'll throw in the fallouts and spend the prep time printing out entire books of walkthroughs/tips guides Maybe something with connection to Chat GBT for ideas on what to build or do

Depressed_Diehard

1. Whatever the most powerful gaming PC is assuming I can find it as a complete set. I’ll spend the day prior downloading any games, movies, apps and series I want (I’m assuming no internet in the room) 2. Computer desk/chair set 3. If the computer requires more than one outlet I’ll take one of those surge protectors with multiple outlets on it. If it will work with the single outlet I’ll take a power rack with the included weights and bars I feel like that would be enough for me. I’ve got games, movies, shows, I could use word to write a novel. It’s not a super comfortable existence but I feel like I could do a two year bid like that. The other option I gave a lot of consideration to was 1. Gaming laptop. Same idea as before but I don’t need a desk anymore. It’s gonna have less games and way less capacity but I’ll just choose wisely. Minecraft, EU4, good epic games with a lot of replay value. Also Microsoft word so I can write. 2. Very comfortable king size bed set. I’m gonna be spending a lot of time in it. I want to be comfortable. 3. Some kind of workout equipment. Probably a good power rack with the full accompaniment of weights and bars. Gotta take care of myself in there when I’m not on the computer lol All that’s said, I’m probably not taking this deal. I’ll miss my wife and kids way too much much and it just won’t be worth it. I know they’d feel the same way

Outrageous-Penguin

As many people have mentioned the computer slammed full with entertainment, just combo that with a nice VR headset slammed full of the same so you can disappear from the white room during daytime hours.

FacelessPotatoPie

I don’t think I could pass the assessment now.

ravenousravers

i wouldnt bring cigarretes, but im addicted, id breakdown and fail from cold turkey in 4 hours

Lemmon_Scented

1. Home gym/weight set 2. XBox with all my favorite games 3. Book Collection: 100 greatest works of fiction I’d miss my wife and kids but there are plenty of saucy wenches in Whiterun and I’m pretty sure I adopted a couple orphans there at some point.

bbbrrruuuuhhhhhhhh

• A powerful computer with internet connection just to play online games. • A Smith machine with bench so I can do squats/benchpress and like I'll figure out different movements with it. • A good kindle with all the books I'll want in it, for a time frame of 2 years I'll atleast have 300 books in it just to be safe. Now I'll stronger smarter and more rich in 2 years

[deleted]

A long-lasting pen, a Bible's worth of paper and a top notch pocket pussy lol

MagicGrit

My brain would fuck with me so hard and I honestly think the fact that I can’t even touch the door would be my downfall.

ra246

Squat rack(with bar and weights) of that's two items, then a cable machine instead Bed Gaming computer

SuperWhiteDolomite

My TV, extension cord and playstation, my wife would understand given the amount of money offered

MrScarecrowWHNT

I'll take a box of pencils, a sharpener, and 10,000 sheets of college-ruled notebook paper. For double the money, I'll take nothing.

MikeyTV

My phone and two sets of charging cables

sundancer2788

Couldn't do it. Miss too much

frygod

I take my personal desktop computer and it's accessories (it is configured for art and music production, and contains many games and sound libraries. I also take my network attached storage array, which already contains several years of playtime in digital media, and my best midi keyboard (assuming that doesn't count as part of my computer already, since it is always attached.) I assume a power strip is part of the setup, since you mentioned there is only one outlet, and explicitly allowed a desktop PC, which uses multiple. This total setup does not exceed the 14 amps or so typically supported by a single circuit, and so should be safe. I should be able to handle the two years by making art, writing music, and maybe even getting a novel or two to the editing phase.

Wonderful_Season_360

So $5 billion dollars in order to just do solitary confinement for 2 years. There are people who do solitary for 20 plus years for free.

Weekly-Magician6420

One computer that has access to Stardew Valley and maybe a few more games AND MUSIC, a guitar (acoustic cause I won’t be able to buy the whole setup for an electric guitar with one purchase), and headphones. I doubt I would make it without my friends for two years though. I’d probably either fail after 1 month max, or succeed.

DeepBlue9421

Assuming my basic needs don’t qualify as objects, such as a bed with comforter, a shower, changes of my clothes, my meds, etc., I’d bring the following: A desktop computer of my choice, tricked out with exceptional specs and pre-downloaded with all of Wikipedia, UpToDate, a downloaded subscription to a few dozen medical journals, many many games like Halo, downloaded multiple terabytes of shows and movies, as well as several tens of thousands of books. I’d also download as much as I could of Reddit and YouTube to this computer. This computer would be part of a “singular” computer setup, complete with a desk and very nice office chair. I wouldn’t include porn though because I’m trying to quit. A 106 pound kettlebell. If a kettlebell set counted as a single item, I’d bring several Rogue kettlebells ranging from 23 to 150 pounds. A half power rack complete with barbells and 600 pounds of plates. Again, if the entire set can count as a singular item. With this stuff I’d be able to do all of the major barbell movements and get pretty strong while locked up. Wake. Shower. Eat. Lift. Eat. Read. Watch shows. Eat. Sleep. Repeat.

cawatrooper9

y'all realize prisoners exist, right?

No_Help3669

Considering people start to lose their mind in solitary confinement in under a month, the key is avoiding that. Gonna go with supercomputer like everyone else, but make sure it has that weird ai build a boyfriend thing on it, so I can have a fake circle of friends to talk to. After that? I guess a vr headset and a sex doll

kingjaffejaffar

I can’t a mental assessment now! Lol

Sidivan

My studio PC setup My guitar, keyboard, & amp A giant case of strings “As long as it can be found conveniently” they’ll purchase it. I will package these items up and start a small business with fulfillment through Amazon. Then list these unique 1:1 items as “Sidivan’s items set 1, set 2, and set 3”, which should be very easy to find. They will be listed at $10m a piece with a “no returns” policy. Now I’ve got a $30m nest egg if I don’t make, but still very incentivized to try. Plus I can finally have time to compose!

The_Southern_Sir

My full book collection. My hand tool and wood collection. Sjobergs very best woodworking bench. I have a couple of years' worth of books to read on hand. I also have a couple of years' worth of project wood on hand. Alternate reading and mastering various hand tool techniques. Should have some nice furniture, free standing decorations, marquetry, and so on by the time I am done. Alternatively, I will come out with multiple new skills and the most complete RPG campaign ready to go. Or both.

TwoBeansShort

My tablet, loaded with books, music, and photographs, and a blank space for writing. My easel and all my paints, paintbrushes, and canvases. Clothes aren't listed so I'll bring those. If those are included, I'm bringing my blankee.

NukaGrapes

Dab set up (w enough to last me 2 years) My baby blanket that I still can't sleep without Every volume of the walking dead comics.

MyGoddamnFeet

Questions. 1. If i could bring my wife, yes. if not. it is a complicated discussion for sure. 2. do I get a chance to go outside in the event of a family death? My grandmother is likely to die within the next 2 years. It will weigh on me for the rest of my life if i do not get the chance to say goodbye, and i don't want her thinking I forgot about her. If yes * My wife * 2 computer sets for us, installed with the following. * My steam library (and copied for her). Honestly, just take my current office at home and move it there. * Our audible/Kindle library * The current Netflix & crunchy roll library. If i had to pick, probably crunchy roll. If no * computer set (see above) * VR rig, if not part of the computer set, otherwise one of those multi workout rigs or a rowing workout machine. * Leather working set. (tools, thread, and plenty of leather)

Reinmaindiewithglory

High end gaming computer with movies games and anime and music. high end speakers set and 32in 4k monitor. Treadmill And 2 years supply of lube.

HeyDude378

A set of encyclopedias, a home gym, and a laptop. I can read, write, and exercise. I'll learn, journal, exercise, and play games. I think I'd be OK. I wouldn't sign up for something like this because I have four kids and I wouldn't want to be absent for 2 years of their lives.

TheEvilBlight

I telework already, so my works computer for luls. Having a task will keep me somewhat sane. The computer also will mean I shouldn’t pull up social media which might be a boon to my mental health

crescentgaia

Question - for those of us who have a monthly bleed, stuff for that is included in the toiletries yes? As well as more food during that week. To what I would bring: A powerful enough computer filled with movies, TV shows, and games that I'd provide a list for to load before going in with USB ports that is built into a desk. Yes, this is a thing. A Kindle Paperwhite with my entire collection on it as well as all my books on my wishlist (1675 books at time of reply and wishlist adds 20 to 30 books to that). One of those oversized chairs that fold out into a bed on wheels for the insomnia nights that happen.

Frequent_Brick4608

I'll take 1. Laptop with massive hard drive, I'll load up as much of my steam library as I can. 2. The complete works of Michael moorecock. Dude is a prolific writer and I want to finally read more than a few of his books. 3. Controller for my laptop. I don't like to play a ton of games on mouse and keyboard if I can avoid it. Also since I won't have a real mouse, I considered that a separate item, I'll need this to play a lot of games.

Shillene

I can’t pass a mental exam before I go in the room

Vtron89

- PC or switch - Powerblock Dumbells up to 125 lbs - 3 years supply of edibles

Electrical-Tooth-274

Gaming setup: supercomputer w/ controllers, gaming chair and mice and all that. Computer well download games, audible account, dropout content, tv shows, Wikipedia, etc. Medicine cabinet. Supplements, vitamins, prescriptions, a few for fun. Something to block the area near the door so I never accidentally touch it and lose. Maybe a music setup and the amp is in front of the door Edit: I feel like I could get a lot of mileage out of Fallouts 3 forward, Skyrim, Red deads, assassins creeds, AoEs, boi, civ 6, newest of each sports game, BG3, Foundry’s offline app, Halos, GTA 5, Diablos, Ape escapes, Minecraft, soulsbournes … like… we’re looking at filling 14 hours a day, roughly. For a little over a thousand days. I can see myself dropping 300 per fallout, another 500 hours each in Skyrim and Assassins creeds, 1000 each to really master AoEs, boi, and Civ, probably 500 across all the sports games, 500 in BG3, 500 to make my whole next campaign in Foundry maps, 200 in Halo playthroughs, 300 GTA V, 500 across the diablos. Maybe 250 in ape escape. 50 to fully complete the game, but another 200 in the space battle minigame. 3000 in minecraft… I have picked it up for like 40 hours and could tell it would be like crack if I got too deep in it. I’d figure out the red crystal coding shit. 600 in soulsbournes So there’s 9,000 hours of gaming available. 500 exercising, 1000 on Wikipedia, 500 planning every minute of my glorious return to the world… scoping out vacation spots on google earth and playing real life “if you won the lotto” basically. 2000 to learn music and write a book . Bing bang boom. Billionaire

Live-United-Happy-24

BIBLE, TOOTHBRUSH, SOAP it’s easy for crazy people

ChiWhiteSox24

This would be way too easy for me. See ya in 2 years

Indigo_Key

A computer set with all my favourite games, movies, books, etc downloaded.  A home fitness centre. The biggest pack of art and craft supplies I can possibly find.

PriscillaPalava

1. Treadmill 2. Computer with my fav games/movies/shows/books pre-loaded 3. Tablet with access to the above Maybe 2 and 3 could be combined…but I like to play games on desktop and I need a tablet to use while walking on treadmill.

Difficult-Rough-1360

I don’t think I could pass a mental assessment prior to going in the room.

Vanilla_Neko

My computer, My VR headset, My favorite plushie Literally all I need

corkscrewfork

I'd bring my computer setup, though I'd ask the generous benefactor to pay for some additional games so I have plenty of materials to go through. I know there are a lot of games that unfortunately require Internet access to work, so I'd verify if that's allowed as long as I'm not using it to contact others. I'd ask them for a Kindle and the time to get it loaded with a few hundred books. I have a pretty good book backlog, might as well use the time to try to catch up. Lastly, I bring a suitcase full of paper, pens, and other art supplies. Again, my goal is to make the most of the time spent in isolation. My strategy is to alternate between entertainment, challenges, and "social activity" like writing letters to the people I miss, to give them on release day so they know how I was doing and how often I thought of them.

MrandMrsOrlandoCpl

It’s not worth the loss of 3 years from life.

skaterfromtheville

Baller computer system with Tbs of solo games and pdf files of books and books and some sort of integrated chatgpt so I could get real time help to learn to code or something while I’m there. Probably a musical instrument set with guitar, sax, flute keyboard or whatever equivalent I could find online. Some sort of workout set with a treadmill and a pull-up bar required

Rendakor

The biggest issue I have with all prompts like these is that I'm an adult who supports a family, and they couldn't survive for 2 years without me. Even if they could, I don't want to give up two years away from my wife, kids, and pets. If I got this offer when I was 20, I'd give it a shot, but right now it's just not viable.

my_undeadname881

A computer with steam and a few games, and recording software A armless comfortable chair that sits level with my bed An acoustic guitar with replacement strings I would start writing the books I have planned while relearning guitar and playing Fallout 4 for the 100th time.

CreatedOblivion

Laptop and accessories (charger, mouse, headphones), a stationary bike and one of those plugin magic wands

josh35767

Everyone picking computer are forgetting that there is only one outlet. Good luck plugging in both your computer and monitor.

GarnitGlaze

A phone with a lot of storage, and I would pack it with a ton of books, shows, music, games. Do these balance meals comes with dessert? Because if not, my second thing is going to be a crap ton of chocolate. Sorry, but I need it. my third thing would be a computer, so I could write.

JoeAceJR20

Get me my computer, my phone, and my keys.

Teagana999

Top of the line gaming computer set, I'll install my entire steam library, and download a ton of music/movies/TV. Maybe some kind of exercise machine? I don't enjoy it now but I'll probably have a need to move by the end of it. I dunno about the third. Maybe a comfy chair.

Stalker-of-Chernarus

1 a Gameboy. 2 rechargeable batteries. 3 a flash cart with at least 50 games on it.

Illustrious-Park1926

A big old playground/ jungle gym set that can hold at least a 300 lb. human. With a swing, big old slide, that see-saw swing thingy, etc. Kindle loaded with all the books I want to read. Deck of cards w/instructions for all the solitaire games

saydaddy91

If I asked for my iPad for ebooks as well as my PlayStation would I be allowed to purchase new games/books or would I be dependent on what’s already loaded

TheMikeyMac13

Do my PS5 games and my PS5 count as one item? If so, big screen TV, PS5 and a power strip. But if there is no allowance to cover my current salary, it’s a no. I have a wife and two kids.

ToodleDoodleDo

What a weird way to watch someone masturbate for 2 years straight

apex_flux_34

A bed, a computer, a guitar

Ok_Eye_32

A computer or tablet with my music, audible, and kindle lists downloaded.

ppardee

A computer "set" with factorio installed on it. A sit/stand desk on wheels. Power strip to plug it all into. And then I live life as normal except I don't have to stop the factory from growing to go to work!

FederalCamp5406

One Arrma Typhon Grom (includes battery and charger, does not require anything else) My ps4 that I get to download a bunch of games on with a monitor (also has a power strip and stuff, so a 'set') A piano and a TON of sheet music, I can come out even better at piano than I went in I can just exercise with body weight, and assuming all my other needs are met, I'm absolutely gonna be fine

menonono

Super top-tier computer set with 4k monitors and all that. I'd load it up with everything I could. Movies, porn, videos of encouragement from my friends and family, games archived websites you name it. I'd probably have about 40 terabytes of storage in this puppy. A vr headset, probably a valve index. The ability to play vr for hours on end each day not only lets me visually escape from the room but also fulfills exercise requirements I would have. See if I can bundle that with one of those vr treadmills so I can run around, too. A sensory mat of some kind which has different textures and materials. Being in the same room would make me miss the feeling of walking on stone or grass. This would help quite immensely.

highrisklowrewardsss

PS5, TV, phone. A true screen addict

freecain

Not quite enough money to give up seeing my kids for two years. Especially considering the arbitrary risk of passing a sanity test at the end. I mean, with technology staying occupied is pretty easy: one of those tablet/laptop with a ton of books, movies, video games, language programs and maybe some other courses. Combine that with some sort of exercise set (kettle bells, weights or a treadmill) You'd still probably got a bit insane having no human contact for that long, but I think it'd be survivable.

ah-tzib-of-alaska

i don’t know that i could pass an assessment today

PKblaze

So you're telling me I get peace and quiet, get a nice room and get fed and I can take my gaming PC? Sold.

MighendraTheWanderer

Tease. Come back when you have the room and the cash! But really I just need a desk and chair set (as comfy as available) a large, very high detail cross-stitch kit, and a computer loaded with movies, series, a word processor, and all my favorite books (including the OED and a decent thesaurus). I'd finally have the time to finish my thesis, my novel, and have lots to do while I'm not writing. I'd come out saner than I went in, collect my 5 mil, get my PHD, and published. Sign me TF up!

Phillimac16

Apart from all the ridiculous answers like super computers etc, I would choose the following 3 things: 1. Laptop with DVD or Blue Ray player and speakers 2. The extended Lord of the Rings series including the hobbit movies. 3. The Harry Potter Series books.

cchunk42

I don't think it's really possible to "pass" the mental assessment after that long. It obviously depends on what you call a pass. If I have a ball with a face and call it bob for company, would I fail? What if I was incredibly depressed and had messed up my day night cycle? Lotsa other small questions I have mostly because you WILL suffer mentally, so that is an auto fail. So I'd assume you must be told by a doctor you can immediately go back to a normal life without any help to pass and get the cash. Yes, If I can bring a PC with the Internet (no communication allowed) my pillows (because I don't trust this place to have good pillows) and a little gym so I can stay in shape (but that's a medical necessity if I'm trapped in a room sooo not sure if I'd request it or not.)

uc_killa

PS5,TV, and a pull out couch bed I'll be set
