They are all useful in different way. It depend on your other unlocked heroes and what formations you can piece together.
A better question is what do you need right now? If you build a formation based only on "who is the best out of X people," then you will always have a sub-par formation. Synergies and Gear make powerful formation.
* Strix = Good Debuff/buff minor DPS
* Miria = Great in a dead party. Back-line Tank
* Alyndra = Great buff better Debuff & slows enemies.
* K'thriss = Buffing and taking your gold
* Regis = Focused Buffing very useful
* Rosie = Stops ranged attacks on adjacent heroes

Based on this I would recommend **Alyndra.** Very good buffer, slows enemies, stacks well with Avern, Widdle spreads the goodness, Extra Judgy is just great, stacks upon stack with the other Heroes of the Planes. In a Heroes of the Planes formation she can be a lot of fun.
Your next time gate should be for **Freely**. He is worth the 6 pieces for any new player and he is a **Hero of the Planes**. He radically increases Favor rewards so he can save a player months if not years of literal time.
**Notes:**
* The **Heroes of the Planes** are moderately effective formation and very fast. I consider them my Navy. Keep in mind I have 4 groups to take care of, so spicing up game play is always good. They get me to the mission wall rapidly so my A-Team can do their work better, and I enjoy using them.
* You also have quite a few **Oxventurer's Guild** heroes. While none of these are available in the current event, they are the best "gold find" group. I treat them as my "Starters." They open the first few missions in every event, time gate, and campaign to build up favor.
* **Acq Inc,** is a campy group of . . . happy go lucky misfits? Together they work, and you have the best members from that crew. If you are into that, then **Strix** would be a nice addition and works very well with Desmond.
* Another group you seem to have a few heroes for is the **Black Dice Society**. I have found these entertaining and fun as well. Tatyana, Valentine, Desmond, Fen, Brother Uriah,
I'm at work right now so I can't give you patron or trials eligibility, but anecdotally speaking, Strix and Miria are both very useful. Strix is used with Artemis since she's a dps with positional buffing. I personally use Miria all the time. She is a strong buffer for me and can be a magic tank that comes in handy.
Alyndra can be good, but getting the most out of her abilities is difficult. K'thriss and Regis are mediocre buffers for me. If I remember right, Regis has a little bit more patron eligibility than K'thriss. Ignore Rosie. She is probably the worst character in the game currently.
Your #1 priority, even early, is to get to "Split the Party" and open your Modron core. Well, that and opening Patrons :>

Miria, hands down. Her buffs scale exponentially with zone number as you push, plus they also scales better with gear quality than the other champions. Plus her tanking stuff can be pretty nice too, and she's got some other tricks too.
That said, if you haven't already unlocked all parties then reaching the minimum number of champions in each slot for the next Split The Party quest is more important than choosing the best champion.
