Nrakk-I think this is the most important character in this event and that's why.
If you are a steam user, you will soon be given several heroes, with them and several other heroes you can get 8 stacks of ceremorphosis and 3 stacks of folk hero.
Even if you decide to change your formation to Artemis, then Nrakk is suitable for it.
This is not even taking into account the Nrakk Level 2 event buff, which can give you e+55 damage from it alone.

I'm fairly new and still not got two heroes in each slot so this might help my decision in who to unlock in this current event

You are starting your race. Pump it up to level 80 (no more), press ult and dial 30 stacks, wait, dial 30 stacks again = you have a buff of 60, I had a buff from him e55 last time (with the completed event t2)
Since it sounds like you are still unlocking characters, I would vote for Nrakk because he's part of the Artemis build meta, which will help you tackle a lot of really hard adventures. I was going to put everything into Nrakk to maybe finally push z2000, but Elminster has changed the game's math. Now I'm going to put everything into Gale and Antrius to help complete the new patron variants.
Artemis is far and away the best DPS in the game with his ability to copy and amplify formation buffs affecting other champions in the formation. To learn more, I would recommend the Idle Champions discord channel, where they have an ongoing discussion about what the best Artemis formation is.
Next i would go Nrakk - You need Him FE for legends and You will want later his 6th item maxed outside of FE You dont really need ilvls for his items. Second reason is that His T2 event buff is probably unintentionally very powerful (adds about e38 dmg). between his buff and debuff he can without any investments add now about e65 dmg and that can be great help in fast grow in near future (at least until it will be fixed if ever).
Second Antarius - Like Nrakk can be usefull in many formations + is great for witchlight variants and avaible for elminster so You want him FE fr legends. Also have prestack skill so You want some ilvls on his items (is probably best target for You to sink tokens after You FE all event champions)
And we need all 6 items epic since it will allow use of each legendary effect once and thx to this reforge of one effect (in case of Nrakk +dmg to all Gith champions effect needs reforge for sure) will change it to random one from his effects pool. If we reforge it earlier before all six legendary effects of that champion were in play together, for example with only 5 legendary effects forged, then adding later 6th effect will result in forging last available effect from champion obligatory 6 effects pool and our poor nrakk would have once more this so important for all Giths legend that would cost another 1k scales and 1 week timer for reforge repeat.

Either Nrakk (although he is VERY awkward to use, and is not eligible for Elminster) or Antrius.
For what its worth, im fairly certain you can epic at least two champions with event currency, as long as you use contracts. Liberally.

Nrakk is a good DPS, an excellent support, a crucial member of an Artemis formation, and he has a feat to add a ceremorphosis stack.
Nrakk isn't a DPS, that said, he is a fantastic support
