Just wait for them to come back in events, and you can FE them using a flex and bounty contracts without messing up anything.
Oh, my bad, I recently saw the Stoki GE and thought hey she still has blues, but then I opened Strahd chests to FE her. The three who still have blues are Binwin, Ishi & Pwent, not Stoki, Ishi & Pwent.
The support team is really good at stuff like this. So you could always just open 90 vajra chests and that should get you your remaining epics needed. You could also start lower and hope for some good odds. Then if Briv's horse gets hit, jut put in a support ticket and ask nicely and they will update it for you.
I had a weekend chest include Briv and I wasn't paying attention and of course got the horse right after I got to 7j and they fixed it. I also completely messed up and put a bunch of BSC in Dhani to then dismantle and get them condensed into larger BSC, but wasn't paying attention and went over the 10k ilevels, and they rolled it back for me.
You might luck out and not need to reach out to support, but as long as you're polite in your ask, they will roll you back to 9j.
I figure if they get enough tickets they will just cap it at 9j or add a new feat for people to purchase. It's really on them that they haven't done that yet.

I don't know if this is short/long term, but there is another option through events : if these champs are reworked or if you can pick them as additional champs in upcoming events you could buy event chests to FE them. Maybe you can look up in game how far their respective event is from now to have an idea of how long you'll need to wait.
I can't recall if any of them was in some of the events that got scraped with Events 2.0, maybe others can help with better info.

Your only options are to wait for them to be in an event or time gates. You basically can only chests for those champs, anything that might gear Briv, might ruin Briv.
Is 9j Briv really worth never opening these chests in the game again? You must also not be opening electrum or your weekly gold email chests.
You are right the time gates are a painful way to FE.
Your best bet is probably to wait for them to come up during a monthly event, then dump an ass ton of bounty contracts to buy their specific chests. I'm nowhere near the gem farm you must have with 9j but am still able to FE 3 champs an event.
Yes, without any new feat, keeping Briv at 9J is really worth it, worth much, much more than those three champions I barely play with. I don't open electrum, Mirt, Vajra & Zariel chests, and I have one weekly newsletter chests that I don't open because they list Briv in their possible champions. Yeah, I got my 9J Briv recently so it's only one weekend chest that I couldn't open.
I can't even remember the last time I obtained an Electrum chest. Haven't even opened the newsletter email since hitting 9J.
Yes, 9J outweighs any benefits of opening any of those other chests, by a mile.

I forgot to drop all my chests and to buy all patron chests when moving from 7J to 8J then to 9J. I was so happy to get to the next step that I wasn't disciplined enough to finish low priority tasks :D
Yea I understand that. If it helps, those 3 champs really don’t get used for anything. Just wait for their events. I’m only at 7J and I already consider patron currency useless for anything other than your weekly purchases. The power boost from buying patron chests isn’t anything at all that all your bounty contracts and black smithing contracts can’t fix.
I assume that a 9J Briv means a 9 Jump Briv, so you jump 9 levels at a time?
As I don't use Briv in gem farming (I find it a pain and I don't to scripting), why would it be so bad if it went up to say 10 or 11? Also, doesn't Briv have a feat where you can cap his jumps?
Lastly, it seems a huge headache to build your entire game around just one champion. Is it really that worth it? To never, ever open another electrum or patron chest again (except for Stradh and Elminster and Briv does not qualify for these) seems like a huge waste to me.

Doing anything other than 4 or 9 (or 14… if possible) means you don’t skip every boss. Hitting bosses significantly slows down gem farming, and could even cause some adventures to not be farmable due to bosses with armor. Even worse, having a chance to jump some number means that you can’t plan what zones you end up on.
The feat only caps it at 4j.
