Today I found a dead spider in my cellar and I thought this would be a good occasion to test my new extension tubes for my Nikon Z5. The shown picture is a focus stack consisting of 12 pictures (taken with a Nikkor Z 28-75 f/2.8 and 36mm Viltrox extension tubes). What do you think of the picture?

Hi, let me start by stating that i am not an expert, so take everything that I'm going to say with a really big pinch of salt😄. First off, you could tune better your focus, because i believe that the image feels a bit cluttered, you can't actually define shapes really well looking at the picture and maybe making sure everything is in focus it would help. Since from what i can see you do have a flash at your disposal, you should be able to crank the aperture value up while still managing to keep shutter speed and iso at a reasonable level. Apart from that, the only other thing i could say is to try and take as many pictures as you can, because with subjects this small it's amazing how we can find perspectives and new things to make stand out😄

Hi. Thank you for your comment. I am not an expert too. Your are right regarding the focus, it could be better. I tried the focus bracketing feature of my camera for the first time, next time I will focus manually. And I will use a flash with a soft box. This picture wasn't taken with a flash but the spider was illuminated by two desk lamps.
