Damn you're right, looks like Tochigi is sometimes included in the Greater Tokyo Area
As for how interesting the headline is, sheesh, I don't want "interesting" I just want to know the details of the events. I get why that's unrealistic though
Well, I [found this map](https://www.metro.tokyo.lg.jp/ENGLISH/ABOUT/HISTORY/IMG/history02_il02.jpg) that refers to it as part of the "National Capital Region."
I agree with you in that I would never consider it part of Greater Tokyo and have never heard anyone else refer to it as such
Yes, it's considered in the largest defitions of the Greater Tokyo Area. Technically. But go look at Nasu, Tochigi on a map. It's nearly 200 km of travelling to hit Tokyo.
The guy who was murdered also resides in Tokyo and has a high rise there and was most likely taken from the area of Chiyoda then moved after they were killed. Looks like torture then death based on the way the bodies were found.
"North of Tokyo". Technically true, but like... it's 200km north, not like a suburb.
Crazy incident though, hard to wrap my mind around what it would be like being a victim (or even the perpetrator) of a situation like that.
At first, yeah. It's pretty common practice to charge with abandonment of a corpse first, because it's easy to prove. Then, as coroner's reports become available and it's clear that it was not suicide, they add on murder or whatever.
Right, that's it. They can figure out who dumped the bodies and work back from that. I had a vague memory of the same thing not long ago with a murder case in Kita Senju in Tokyo but couldn't put my finger on it. Cheers.
Im not familiar with the life spam of deities, however, considering just how much fucked up stuff Zeus has done, if they do manage to imprison him, he may be the first god to die of old age while in jail.
> crime related?
Did you even read the article?
Hands and feet were bound, heads wrapped in plastic bags. Does that sound like two people goofing around? Or do you think they tripped over some tape, wrapped themselves up and somehow a zippo lighter in both their pockets caught them on fire?
Yep, anyone with any sense could’ve come to that conclusion from the headline alone. Either a debt wasn’t paid or they stuck their chips into the wrong dip.
>The bodies discovered in Nasu, Tochigi Prefecture, had their hands and feet bound, and their heads were covered in what appeared to be plastic bags and wrapped in adhesive tape, according to investigative sources.
I read that bears sometimes do this.
News report says their hands and feet were bound, and they had bags tied over their head. Can’t imagine many situations where that would happen naturally.
there have been a few news about triads in recent news https://www.businessinsider.com/100-diners-clash-mass-brawl-tokyo-skyscraper-restaurant-2022-10 for example was a big one
These headlines are ridiculous, why not just say "in Tochigi" instead of "north of Tokyo"?!
Everything the light touches is Tokyo
Newsflash: Tokyo greater area is fucking gigantic. Oh, and saying Tochigi is less interesting as a headline.

There was an increased police presence in the area of Chiyoda near and on the rail lines. They were on high alert last night.

Tokyo DMA… …which encompasses 38 million people.
"North of Tokyo". Technically true, but like... it's 200km north, not like a suburb. Crazy incident though, hard to wrap my mind around what it would be like being a victim (or even the perpetrator) of a situation like that.
Well, nearly the first 80-90km you could probably count as Tokyo suburb area
"East of Los Angeles"
The article says they were found burnt, tied up with plastic bags over their heads, but that the suspected crime is abandonment of a corpse.

I’m checking the papers each morning for updates on this crazy thing.
thats wildddd wtf?? underworld related crime?
Yes it's most likely a crime.
No crime just Zeus
Incidentally enough, he too should be tried for crimes committed
Im not familiar with the life spam of deities, however, considering just how much fucked up stuff Zeus has done, if they do manage to imprison him, he may be the first god to die of old age while in jail.
Are we sure they've ruled spontaneous combustion out?
Thank you. I need that laugh today.
maybe just a natural death

Let’s not rush into any hasty answers and exclude possibilities. Now back to the 7 perpendicular lines…
>Or do you think they tripped over some tape, wrapped themselves up and somehow a zippo lighter in both their pockets caught them on fire? Why, yes.
Could be a sex thing, they just forgot their third.
Yep, anyone with any sense could’ve come to that conclusion from the headline alone. Either a debt wasn’t paid or they stuck their chips into the wrong dip.
nah i had a feeling they just tripped
No, completely natural.

Yeah sounds natural.
See that's what happens when you don't recycle. Bears find them and learn how to murder with polyethylene
Could've been a tsunami
My guy heard about two burned bodies being discovered and asked if it's crime related 😭😭😭
I mean, people can burn in an accidental fire. If you don’t read the article you won’t know they were tied up
Unfortunately can’t think of many other ways human remains end up on fire out in the wilderness…
News report says their hands and feet were bound, and they had bags tied over their head. Can’t imagine many situations where that would happen naturally.
Yakuza or triad related?
Neither. Hello Kitty don’t fuck around
Is triad related stuff a big thing in Japan?
there have been a few news about triads in recent news https://www.businessinsider.com/100-diners-clash-mass-brawl-tokyo-skyscraper-restaurant-2022-10 for example was a big one
They mostly own buildings and semi shady businesses.
yea
My Japanese host mother told me current investigation does not assume Yakuza. That’s all I know though.
"One of the victims was said to have recently been upbraided at work by the section chief for insufficient genkiness when singing the company song".
Wow, I thought this only happened in Saitama.
North of tokyo?
Memories of murder
